The hotel and my room was clean however, the whole reason I picked this hotel was to enjoy the indoor pool. The first day we couldn't use the pool because it was closed due to repairs. The second day we were told the pool was open, but when we went to it, it was filthy. The water was murky and there was hair and dirt floating in the pool. Totally disgusting and unsanitary! The room itself was excellent--huge, spacious, and genuinely fun to spend time in. However, the hotel overall didn't feel worth the price. The front desk experience was very corporate and dull, lacking personality. The restaurant Salt was closed on Tuesdays, and from what we heard, it's overpriced anyway. The other dining option, The Living Room, felt more like a cafeteria than a proper restaurant. The pool area looked much better in pictures than in reality. While it's a decent spot to relax, the pool is quite short and small. The hotel is also not within walking distance of much, which was a downside. We stay at all kinds of hotels--boutique, large, luxury, budget--and what we always ask is: is it worth the cost? In this case, the answer is no. Beautifully appointed hotel and friendly staff. Unfortunately, location is horribly located surrounded by entry and exit to LBI which made it difficult to sleep. Also valet/parking is very tight and had to wait extended time over a November weekend to receive car. I can only imagine in the summertime! Stayed here for 4 days over 4th of July weekend and was due to check out today. The power went out in the hotel last night due to a passing storm. The emergency back up generators never came on. The fire department and police came to rescue guests from the stuck elevators. The hotel was pitch black and only returned in the lobby over an hour after the original black out when an employee found and used a car jumper pack to turn the generator on (I'm dead serious a car jumper pack). I was traveling with a baby and had to change her in a pitch black and extremely hot lobby with glow sticks and a cell phone light. While all this was happening it was chaos in the hotel and no water or anything was handed out by staff. When they did finally get the emergency generator on it was strictly for the lobby. We went up to our room and packed in the dark and left because there was no light or ac in the rooms with no time frame of when it would be back. The lobby though had lights had zero air conditioning so we made the decision to leave at 12:30am (3 hours+ since it originally went off) because of the safety of my family and infant child. They didn't even provide water or anything for the hours that we were in the dark. I spoke to the Manager at Hotel LBI this morning and she claimed it was an act of god so nothing can be done compensation wise. The problem is that there emergency generator didn't turn on immediately and took over an hour+ to turn on and had to be jumped started with a jump start kit while the entire hotel was pitch black. The way the situation was handled by the Hotel was unacceptable and they were not prepared what so ever for an emergency or the chaos inside the pitch black hotel. That's on the hotel not an act from god. That's where I draw the line at act of god and readiness for an emergency. Unfortunately I will not be staying at Hotel LBI or their sister properties (The Boat Yard - Boat Houses, The Blvd, Spray Beach Oceanfront Hotel, The Mainland Hotel) in the future because the are not prepared what so ever for emergencies and put families especially with young ones at a major risk of injury by not being prepared for emergencies. No compensation, no water handed out, no answers from the hotel just "act of god" even though THEIR emergency generator didn't turn on. It's unacceptable especially being one of the most expensive Hotel on the island. If you have a family and looking to book this hotel or a stay at their sister properties just know they are not prepared for emergencies and will be potentially putting you family and children at a serious risk. I wanted an all inclusive vibe without the plane ride so this was it. Hard working friendly staff run the show here and everyone from the valet team to the front desk were outstanding. I loved the beach shuttle and free beach chairs. The rooms are spacious, immaculate and the shower actually has water pressure! We didn't dine on the property but they have plenty of options. Odd location on the highway but very close to all the island has to offer. Why this is not 5 stars: the pillows were way too soft on the bed. You need to use three to get comfortable. I also wish this was adults only. Huge families with obnoxious kids up at all hours of the night, all crammed into a tiny pool area which made it unusable for us. They took over the hot tub and pool, god forbid an adult wants to use this! read more

This is only for the rooftop bar. A nice view of the Bay on one side and lots of comfortable seating. We had a party of 6 and just ordered a round of drinks (mixed and beer). The waitress was great but after that it was all downhill. First all drinks come in 'small' plastic cups (assume afraid glass breakage on a cushioned deck) and the beer was warm in the plastic cup. All this for $14-15 per drink which is ridiculous. Too bad since it's a great location on to have cocktails on a pleasant evening. Side note: only food served are specialty pizzas which we did not try. read more

A quick anniversary getaway for one night we decided to give the Hotel LBI a try and we were very happy with our choice. New, lovely and everything very spacious including our room we were soon talking about a return visit down the road in a month or two. What's not to like about happy hour on a Friday night and the place was a buzz with mostly locals roaming in to check out their new gateway hotel to their barrier island. Two bars accommodate the crowded happy hour and both very busy indeed serving drinks and bar food by their friendly staff. Prices were very friendly as well. Although there seems to be a fair number of disgruntled visitors, based on their Yelp reviews, I can only speak to our visit which was a single night in a king suite and we were very pleased. Came down to LBI to celebrate milestone birthday and first thing we see is the view from room 224. Gtfo with that. Paying over $650 / night for 3 nights, and enjoying the view of samsungs filtration and ac units. Just beautiful. Shower water smells like sewage and the same coming from the drain, had to put a towel over it to prevent fumes from coming up. Tried to eat breakfast there and it took close to hour to flag someone and get a bowl of yogurt with granola. It's also in a crappy location, and they tell you the shuttle runs to the beach, but what they don't tell you is that you'll wait half hour because it only fits 5-6 people (a minivan) and there's a line every morning. The ship bottom beach has no public restrooms or parking, so you either walk to Wawa 2 blocks and wait in a bathroom line there (again it's the only nearest bathroom) or call the shuttle to go back to the hotel. Based on the overall experience we'd never return. Also, room 224 should just be boarded up. Like why would you do this to your patrons? read more

Another great stay here. It's like being at a high end resort. Rooms are so big and beautiful. Bed is so comfortable everything they do is right. Valet service free. Reservation maker beware. I had to cancel my reservation for last weekend due to testing positive for Covid. Instead of being selfish and going to LBI for the weekend anyway to spread my illness, I did the responsible adult thing and stayed home. Unfortunately it was within the 7 day window for reimbursement. The lady on the phone said, "Sorry, Covid is not an acceptable excuse for reimbursement of your $422.97 deposit". There was no negotiation, just sorry, hope you feel better. "Click" So make sure you get sick at least 7 days before your cancellation deadline. If I could leave 0 stars I would. Some man at the reception desk with a side part walked up to me and my friends and kicked us from the establishment. To start from the beginning, my friends and I walked to the hotel from my house and went up to the rooftop. We noticed a bunch of chairs setup and didn't want to interrupt a wedding or any other event, so three of us went down to The Lounge, later followed by the other two. The man with the side part walked up to my group and said he "saw" us running down hallways, knocking on doors. We explained that this was not us but he had no intention of believing us. This makes no sense as he worked at the reception desk and saw three of us walk from the elevator, to the table, later followed by the other two. A few minutes later, another man walked up to us saying that if anything else happened, we would be forever kicked from their hotel. My friend found this slightly humorous and started giggling. This was funny as we interpreted this as "if anybody around the hotel did anything frowned upon, you kids would be blamed and removed from the hotel." The bride and groom walked by and we didn't want to interfere with anything as I was angry with the staff. We decided to leave the hotel. All in all, what was supposed to be a beautiful experience, turned into an annoying argument and this yelp review. read more

We went to The Rooftop at Hotel LBI for a sunset drink and pizza. Perfect spot to watch the sun go down. Staff is friendly & helpful. Plenty of seating. The pizza was very yummy- we got the pepperoni honey & its delicious. They also have complimentary valet if you are eating dinner there. Such a nice feature and the valet boys were very nice! We live a few blocks from the hotel and have yet to try it out. We stopped in tonight for happy hour. It was crowded and noisy but expected for happy hour. They have a good menu of appetizers - we had the calamari, pear and prosciutto pizza and oysters. All were really good. Loved the pizza! I would have also tried the wings but they make you get 10 and had to be all one type. Boo! Drinks - had the Rose - it was fine. Hubs had the gin and tonic -hard pass- couldn't taste the gin OR the tonic! You are better off drinking beer or wine. I wondered why so many hamburgers were being served. As we were checking out I asked the waitress and she said "my bad- I should have told you it was 8.00 Hamburger night." You think? Definitely get the burger if you go on a a Sunday. Went to the Salt restaurant at Hotel LBI for Easter brunch and had a fantastic experience and meal. A very clean facility, well staffed, and with a friendly team running the place. Our waiter Bobby was top notch. The Easter Bunny was mingling with the patrons, keeping the mood light and the kiddies happy. I had fried Chicken and Waffles and they were excellent. My family enjoyed fried Chicken and biscuits, as well as a killer plum and goat cheese pizza. The price was $94 pre tax pre tip for 4 people. Fair price for a great time. This review is strictly for the rooftop bar at Hotel LBI. We popped over for a quick drink before dinner. The setup is spectacular with views of the bay and the island. Sunset up here must be gorgeous. We were seated promptly at a seating area with a small table and the waitress returned shortly to grab our drink order. I'm guessing there's no food served here, probably because of the nightmare from the seagulls that would ensue if there was food here. When it came time to pay, our waitress was hard to find but we finally got the bill and left. I would like it if the was a little more variety of wine and cocktails, but as far as the venue is concerned, this place is the top, pun intended. read more

If you want to consistently be woken up between 2:30-5AM this is the place to stay. They have not only done a terrible job of implementing hygiene for staff...witnessed several house keeping and restaurant/bar staff not wearing masks...but also for customer service and safety. Take one look at their insta geo tag and you will see 6-10 college kids in a room playing beer pong. We were woken up on a TUESDAY at 2:30, 3 and 5 am. It looks beautiful but don't stay here is you want a luxury experience as it's a dressed up beach motel full of loud guests packed into rooms partying until the weeeee hours. I stayed 2 nights which cost over $1,200.00 for just the room. Thin walls and floors and no management or security involvement keeping things under control. I would expect this at lesser quality beach hotel but not here. Couldn't wait to get home to get sleep. My advice to management. Don't hire seasonal summer help but rather hospitality professionals. Couldn't have been better! After staying at an awful supposedly "upscale" resort I checked into Hotel LBI and they could not have done a better job. The desk staff was courteous and personable, had a smile and were extremely helpful. The room was gorgeous. It happened to be my grandson's Birthday and our Anniversary and we received a handwritten note from the manager and staff congratulating us and a little welcome package of snacks, water etc. The valet was 100% super sharp and the shuttle van drivers awesome. The rooftop area was pretty, even in a bit of rain. I am going back in September. Love this place and just found out a friend booked the hotel for her daughter's wedding. Went to Rooftop bar, Saturday Night, and tried to get a table (approximately 20% available) and was told we needed a reservation (we asked if we could do it there and said we had to use Open Table because they could not do reservations at the restaurant). So we used Ooen Table and they sat us almost immediately, However, we asked several times for service at the table with the 3 servers deferring to the hostess. After waiting 30 mins, we went to the bar ourselves. We continued to ask for service, over the next 45 mins, to order more drinks and food but staff declined serving us since Hostess did not assign (according to staff). Horrible Pool & Service! Their hotel pool was so chlorinated that my 3 kids complained about burning sensation in their bottoms and when they went into the ocean the next day, they all screamed in pain from the irritation the night before. It was so strong that it even bleached my daughter's hair white!!!! She is 3 years old and her hair is naturally brown and it bleached it blond. I was so upset and when I complained about it, the hotel personnel told me to use conditioner in her hair. I am absolutely shocked that they would have zero sympathy for my kids' skin and hair. Let me start of by saying that I totally understand that we are coming off a pandemic. That we are in the middle of a global supply chain issue and labor shortage. That being said this was a pretty bad experience. When you pay over $750 a night there are certain things you expect. Let start off with our check in. We arrived at 2:45, check in is at 4:00. The front desk said that we were gonna be placed on an expedited list. We walked back around 4:00 and was told the room was not ready and unfortunately it would be a bit. With no definitive time I asked to speak to the manager to see if the wait was gonna be a while so we can make plans. Manager never came out. We were offered nothing for the inconvenience except attitude. Again understanding the world today but also understanding what we are paying, to say we were disappointed is being nice. Side note several other guest were complaining as well. After insisting on seeing the manager a room became available at 4:20. Once we finally got our room we were also disappointed. Let me preempt this with saying we are people who are content with a clean, fresh, well kept room. We have stayed in some of the most exclusive hotels around as well as your everyday chain hotels. We have had wonderful experiences because honestly when on vacation with kids your room is a just a home base to hold your stuff, shower and sleep. The bathroom shower floor was black and very off putting. Our pillows had no pillowcases and there wasn't enough linens for 4 guests. It took 2 phone calls to get the linens which was over a half hour. The hotel itself is nice. The pool area is very small with a lot of restrictions even prior to the pandemic from what I understand. There is a lot of noise and traffic which we kind of anticipated from the location. The menu is simple and is the same throughout the hotel. The restaurant, Salt was average but nice. Here are my final thoughts on the Hotel LBI. We would not book this Hotel again for the reasons above. If the Manager would have come out instead of hiding in the office and help her front desk mitigate some of the issues, it would have set a better tone. When charging a certain price, you must be committed to justifying your cost with your guests experience. Make me walk away saying, "wow I would've paid double for that. Let's book again" instead of what we now feel which is, "Never again". Next time we will either book a rental or stay closer to the beach at one of the motels because honestly with this experience it would have made no difference. read more
