Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal - Compliments of the hotel!

    Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal

    (188 reviews)

Wow. Just wow. 5 stars all around!!!!…read more I don't have a single complaint about the Waldorf which really blew my mind. Yes it is quite pricey but for once, the price is justified by the impeccable customer service, room quality, and maintenance of this resort. It is the perfect blend of modern and elegance and screams luxury without trying too hard. It's close to the marina as well so easy access to other restaurants, shopping, and tours. We stayed at a 3 bedroom villa and the week flew by. The rooms were spacious, well kept, clean, and stocked with everything you need. We had our own private plunge pool to soak in whenever we wanted to. You are greeted upon arrival with a welcome drink and they gifted the kids an adorable sugar turtle cookie when we departed! They offer sample drinks and popsicles at the pools. Their attention to detail is flawless and everything is well thought out. The resort has an adults only pool, a family infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and another shallow kids pool. Plenty of lounge chairs and was never too busy. The food was fantastic from the poolside kitchen to the on site property restaurants to the private chefs. Honestly some of the best food I've had in my life. The spa is world class and I highly recommend it. We had some of the best nail service, massages, and facials ever. Everyone is well trained and very skilled and experienced in their area of expertise. They have complimentary golf carts that take you anywhere on the property and we never had to wait for one. Everyone is so friendly, inviting, and professional. I truly appreciated everyone's hospitality and warmth. The best part was our private butler who cooked our meals, arranged all activities and transportation off the property, did laundry, and even found our missing shoes that flew across the resort! lol. Our butler Ricardo was amazing and such a delight to have. This is a once in a lifetime experience that everyone must indulge in. It's worth it.

Other than that, best stay i've ever had in terms of everything. Room, aesthetics, service, and location. It also comes with a fire place, which comes in handy at night. The room is also equipped with binoculars for whale watching, very thoughtful. The service was top tier, better than Ritz Carlton and other Wardolf location I've stayed at. You get a personal concierge that can help you with whatever you need 24/7. Shout out to my concierge Raquel, she made the stay so much smoother. The location is prime. Walking distance from a lot of restaurants, bars, and clubs. If you don't want to walk uber's about $5-10 bucks.

We were also offered a complementary popsicle and I opted for the margarita one which was delicious. Once we checked in, we opted for their upgrade which I believe is called Altamar, which means high ocean and for an extra $150/day we get a top suite right in the center and it includes breakfast buffets, daily mini bar refill, and a few other discounts for massages. Our room was literally right under the Hilton sign on the sixth floor. We had a great view of the whole property from our balcony. It's worth it because the buffet is around $40/person. The property is very nice and well maintained. They have a hot tub, infinity hot tub, an adult infinity pool, and a massive pool right in the center. The breakfast buffet in the morning was great. Everything was really good and it tasted authentic. I opted for the Cook to order omelettes or eggs and chilaquiles. The avocado toast was amazing. They have a Rotating item where a cook prepares it for you on the spot. You must get the nachos by the pool. They're great for two people and they were so good. They have a total of three restaurants which we ate at two of them because we really enjoyed the Italian, called Velas. They had live music the nights we went. We also went to Lena on taco Tuesday, which was their Tacos and Margarita Night. The beach is beautiful, very walkable. There is a lifeguard on duty. Beautiful sunsets. All the employees were always working, they were very helpful, and attentive. It was a very relaxing day.

The food was consistently good, and the Lazy River is definitely the standout feature and biggest selling point of the property. The rooms and grounds were well maintained, making for an enjoyable stay overall. That said, there were a few areas where the experience fell short. Pool service was inconsistent, and there often seemed to be a shortage of pool towels. Entertainment options were limited, and with only three restaurants on-site, dining choices felt somewhat restricted. Of the three, Latitud 23.5 was by far the best and the one we found ourselves returning to most often. Guests should also be prepared for a fairly aggressive timeshare presentation pitch. Additionally, the advertised complimentary 45-minute massage per room for direct online bookings appeared to be more of a marketing gimmick, as multiple staff members seemed unaware of the promotion during our stay. While we had a pleasant experience overall, we're likely to try a different resort next year. The Lazy River was the highlight, but the overall experience wasn't quite enough to bring us back.

Located right on the beach you can either sit right on the beach or on the shaded terrace - which is one level higher and also where the bar is. You can reserve a table via Open Table which makes reservations easy. The service wasn't very friendly. They acted like we were doing them a favor by eating there and our waitress was downright surly! The food was good but weird. Mostly because the menu descriptions did not exactly match what we ordered. For example we ordered the burrata salad and not only did it come with pesto as advertised, but they also put guacamole on it. Weird! We expected it to have both tomatillo salsa and pesto per the menu but not guacamole! Another example was we ordered the salmon tartare which was advertised as having mezcal aoli, tobiko, goat cheese and another sauce. Well when it arrived it is basically a cheese dip like you'd get in the MidWest with tiny (1/8" minced pieces) salmon shavings in the 97% goat cheese covered in a layer of "tobiko" but as someone who eats sushi multiple times a week I can say with pretty high certainty that it was actually the cheaper/smaller/milder masago and not real tobiko - I mean both are fish eggs but I can tell the difference. But fish eggs aside this was NOT a salmon tartare it was a goat cheese dip that consisted of a small 3% of the dish having minced almost microscopic salmon. I mean for a cheese dip it was weird but tasted ok but this dish for sure is NOT a salmon tartare. It's pretty sad my favorite thing I ate here were the sweet potatoes fries that come premade so they are impossible to mess up. Those accompanied the lobster roll that was so over-seasoned and overcooked you couldn't even taste the flavor of the lobster. The second best thing I ate here after the sweet potato fries was the Macho ceviche. That was good - I'd order it again. The grilled artichoke was also overcooked since it was over-charred so I kept getting a burnt taste in my mouth. Overall, the view was great, the service was bad and the food was weird. I won't be coming here again since there are tons of better tasting, better service restaurants in Cabo with just as good of a view.

The location is convenient, with a supermarket directly across the street. The property was nice and clean--perfect for a relaxing getaway that truly felt like a home away from home. The room had all the main kitchen necessities and more. We started in a garden-view room, and midweek we were able to upgrade to an ocean-view room, which was absolutely spectacular. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves was incredibly calming. The resort also offers beach access, and guests can borrow beach chairs and other items to relax by the water. There are several pools on-site, including a swim-up bar, and they often have live music in the evenings, which added to the atmosphere. The only downside was the on-site restaurant--the food was mediocre, so we preferred cooking in the room or going out to eat. There is a BBQ area available for guests, which was a nice option. I would definitely come back, though I'm not a fan of being approached by timeshare representatives.

To make matters worse, construction workers were using the area around the infinity pool, with large wooden beams blocking parts of the space. Instead of enjoying the beautiful pool, we had to deal with an active construction site. The constant sound of power drills and other construction equipment during the daytime completely ruined any chance of resting by the pool or relaxing in our room. Had we known that major construction was taking place, we would have chosen a different hotel. I understand that maintenance and improvements are sometimes necessary, but guests should be informed in advance, and the hotel should make every effort to minimize the impact on their stay. Unfortunately, this experience fell far short of the relaxing vacation we had hoped for.

There are 2 hotels - Grand Velas (family-oriented) and Grand Velas Boutique (adults only). We stayed in the Grand Velas since most of the restaurants are located in the main hotel. From the vacation experience agent, Leonila, to our guest experience agent Thamara, to our personal concierge, Tony, this journey was destined for success. We enjoyed working with each person, even prior to our arrival. The car service arranged through the hotel was smooth except for the outer-bands, post-hurricane sudden downpour at the airport. It's weather so what can you do about it? I understand such events are infrequent in Cabo, however. Both drivers were friendly and conversational. The resort is beautiful with curved walkways, 3 outdoor pools, with at least 1 outdoor large jacuzzi, and a tropical landscape. The infinity edge of the adult pool extended its view into the ocean! There is also a Teen Clubroom and a children's play area near the family pools. It is a well-staffed property with pleasant and polite team members at every level. Tony, our personal concierge was in constant communication and our go-to for questions and support. He elevated our anniversary celebration by providing us with several personalized surprises! His contributions provided us with great memories! Delightful experience at every restaurant, especially the many fine dining establishments. (Individual restaurant reviews coming soon). The luxury spa (the water journey was very relaxing), a reserved photoshoot (beautiful and professional photos), and wonderful poolside service, including a frozen treat cart and in-pool (literally) cocktail service, were all worth the time. The resort offers a daily schedule of on-resort activities in addition to access to off-resort activities. Two tips: 1) I recommend boxing out a couple of hours for post -water journey relaxation to enjoy the benefits of this detoxing, muscle stimulating, de-stressing experience. 2) plan for 2 appointments for the photoshoot, first for the shoot, a second, to select your photos. I've seen reviews of other all-inclusive properties where guests say after 3 days, they tire of the food choices. You will not have that problem here. Depending on your activity schedule you could easily spend 5 days here and not get bored. Looking forward to returning here as it was at the top of the list for vacation experiences.
