A friend told us about this place near downtown Tucson (we were in town for a concert at the Fox). It's pretty unique; the layout isn't fancy and all of the rooms are accessed via an outside door but the management pays attention to some interesting details that make it worthwhile. The room was clean, the water pressure was good and the wi-fi was fine. There's a bar and a restaurant. It's located off I-10, so access is easy. If you're looking for a comfortable, no-frills place to stay, this place is worth checking out.
Hotel McCoy is a throwback roadside motel that is brilliantly renovated with super friendly staff! Shout out to Amanda and Santino to making our stay extra special! The attention to detail in maintaining that oh so lovely vintage/bohemian vibe is a lost art- pun intended! Thank you for being so pet friendly! Not sure who had the most comfortable stay- us or our pup Willow? Will look forward to staying there next time! Cheers!
We spent a couple of nights at the Hotel McCoy for Toni's birthday and it was excellent! The Hotel is an old 60s style motor lodge from back when families took trips down route 66. It has been redone to capture a feeling of comfort and good vibes. The feeling your given is one of welcome. The staff was very helpful and took care of everything for us. The offer a breakfast with your stay. Home made oatmeal with a large verity of toppings along with coffee and tea. They have a heated saltwater pool to enjoy after your days activity. I highly recommend this place!
Glad I had the opportunity to check out this amazing retro hotel! The friendly welcome, the free beer coupons, the tasty oatmeal/Pop-tart bar-- all top-notch! And the cute, retro room made me smile! I was concerned that the proximity to the freeway would be a noise issue, but I wasn't bothered at all. Check this place out, traveling people!
Super awesome hotel with very reasonable prices and fantastic staff. If you're looking for an artsy boutique style hotel this will be your jam! The rooms are clean and have gorgeous colorful murals. When you arrive you will get a token for a beer, wine or cider. They have a full bar and food truck. The pool is super cute too! Can't beat the price and quality!

This place is truly awesome and I really wanted to give it 4.5 stars. I can't in good conscience give it a 5. I'm going to tell you about the bad things first and then I'll tell you about all the other wonderful amazing things about this property. The place was very clean except for the tub. I did have to request to have that cleaned before I would get into it. And they were really great about taking care of that. The towels are white and I was told they're only two months old, but all of them are stained. I had one that had black smudges on it and I didn't wanna use that towel because I really wasn't sure how clean it actually was. They told me they would replace my towels, but when I came back to my room, it looks like my towels were just folded differently, and that black towel smudge one was in the exact same place. They weren't switched out. The sheets were very stiff and felt like they had a lot of fabric pills they were uncomfortable. The bed was so hot-I don't know if it's the mattress protector or the sheets they use. The bed would have been blissful if it wasn't so hot and it had much better sheets on it. I also sleep on slippery sateen sheets normally, maybe I'm a diva.I would bring my own sheets next time. I did bring this up at the end of my stay and I was told I could ask for other sheets, but the towels felt the same, it must be the detergent or something that they use. It just doesn't make things soft. Everything seemed really stiff. The room is a little smaller than normal hotel rooms and that's completely fine but the lighting in there is terrible. You can't read in bed. There's one light it's so dim in there. I stayed over thanksgiving so Saturday I asked the housekeeping for a room refresh since they were literally in the next room and they told me I had to talk to the front desk or something other and even though honestly I could've walked to the 50 feet over there and asked it just seemed like a hassle. I really wasn't willing to deal with. It seemed completely silly to me. So if you want your room cleaned, just tell them you want it done every day when you first check in. Now for the good stuff . I love how friendly and welcoming the staff is. If you have a problem with anything, you can pretty much ask them and they'll take care of it for you. I wanted more chalk-here you go. You get a free drink so I took advantage of that and I had a nice conversation with the bartender. I think her name is, Senia. She's lovely and fun. They have free breakfast and they have an oatmeal breakfast bar. The oatmeal is actually really good. There was also white and wheat toast, pop tarts and coffee. There is a large room to sit in with communal tables or if you want to sit at the table by yourself, there is there's games all over so this room could be used multiple ways. There's a little sitting area because if you don't spring for the bigger rooms, which I would suggest doing, you don't really have a comfy place to sit in your room. They supply with these books in there so fun. I actually read a book on my vacation. The pool is a saltwater and heated all year round. They have Floaties and there's backyard games. There's all kinds of activities and there's a food truck but that will be leaving in two weeks I heard. The art on the property is fantastic and they even had a paint and wine night on Friday that started at 3pm. I wasn't aware of it, but I wish I had if I did, I would've participated. on Saturday there were people out on the deck, which is heated by the way drumming and they invited me to join them which I thought was super cool. I passed but they did it for a few hours and they asked everyone if they wanted to join and it was very rhythmatic and trance-like-it was so cool. It's such a cool property and I'm so glad I stayed there. I'd recommend it to anyone. This hotel is honestly for everyone, families, single people, all kinds of couples-young, old, same-sex,.. it's a judgment free zone and not only our people welcome but dogs are too! If you don't like dogs or people you're gonna wanna skip this place, but if you're down for a cool experience-THIS IS IT!!! Top 3 coolest hotels I've been to.
I am glad I got to experience this hotel, and would recommend it to young folks with pets for an easy place to stay on their cross-country roadtrip, but I would have to be convinced to come back. It's not for me now, but I know it would've been in my college era. Starting with the goods: the local flavor is unmatched. There is no doubt that the concept was born from a person who loves Tucson and has built community here. From the murals, to the Tucson-specific named parking spaces, to the variety of stained glass and paintings for sale, the typewriters inviting you to contribute to a ghost story if there had been any paper nearby, to the local finds "vending" machine, it all feels very intentional and I love the showcase of uniqueness. Complimentary laundry was an excellent option, and EV chargers are available by the pinball room! Upon arrival, staff made me feel welcome and check-in was a breeze. I also loved my complimentary first drink of local beer, and the PM staff were just really friendly and seemed like they enjoyed being at the hotel. The rooms are nicely decorated with enough places to sit, and the beds were so comfortable. Heated pool, gallery space with cozy couches, and the bar area in general make it a great place for friend groups and meeting new people, if that's your thing. But the bads: it's kind of impossible feel clean in the room - my bare feet were black after a few minutes of shuffling around to the shower, and the towels are as thin (and small) as paper. The AC unit is incredibly loud when it kicks on. The walls are so thin, I could hear word-by-word conversations of the college students staying on the next room over. There's a LOT of dogs and while owners do their best to get them to the small area in front of the gym/laundry room, there is a prevailing smell of pee and barking while dogs make friends - we were one of the furthest from the dog area and it was still audible. And the AM lobby staff were not so welcoming - they were flustered and pulled in multiple directions the morning we left, in that they were handling everything from coffee refills, oatmeal service, checkout, and guest complaints/evictions. They were trying their best, but the hotel should consider additional staff in the mornings. Water and ice machine were also a lil on the fritz when I and others were trying to fill bottles in the AM and the single lobby staff member had to try to help us troubleshoot too. All in all, I'm not mad that I brought my family to Hotel McCoy. But I unfortunately wouldn't bring them back.
I don't have a handlebar mustache or wear suspenders but I do appreciate hipster aesthetic. I like funky art and irony and good coffee. What I don't like is stained linens, threadbare towels, an inroom fridge that gurgles all night, and questionable plumbing. Also, having an extremely amplified jam band doing weak Grateful Dead covers at 9pm (80+ decibels at my door) when I have a 6am flight in the morning, well, chef's kiss to that. The staff are all super friendly but have a first-day-as-an-intern skill set. The location is convenient if you work at the Amazon distribution center across the street or want to get on I-10 in less than a minute. Surprisingly comfortable mattress tho. That's why they get 2 stars.
Most fun hotel I've been to in a LOOONG time! While visiting family in Tucson I had the pleasure of checking into the best motor inn flip I'd seen in, well ever - in person at least. The reviews stood out and the photos further piqued my interest. Imagine how giddy was when it turned out to be even better yet! The exterior murals were a major highlight. I love the story of the visiting artists that graced the walls. So much character and pizazz popped with their namesake artwork. It's hard to imagine having a favorite, but driving through the entry really gave a wow factor! Checking in was a breeze and the lobby was so fun and playful. There were so many cool pieces to look at and an in house bar to boot. I was told of the amenities which included a laundry / gym, heated pool, outdoor games & fire, indoor & outdoor dining, video games on a large screen ... (just to name a few). Oh, did I mention the breakfast oatmeal bar, on site food truck, free drink token? No? All that and I haven't even gotten to the rooms yet. The rooms were a fun, vacationing Route 69 vibe of MCM with a dash of kitsch. Bold colors popped across the room with a bright yellow desk complete with vintage paperbacks to lose yourself in by the pool. A red mini fridge was the perfect size for my two day stay. Signature accessories added to the upscale motel vibe. Playful touches like a chalkboard door added whimsical charm. As an added bonus, just outside each room was a bistro set to enjoy your coffee. Having stayed mid week, my kids and I had the pool to ourselves. We ordered snacks and drinks from the bar and had the best Halloween as they played The Nightmare Before Christmas on a projector outside! Breakfast was served with fresh fruit, Pop-Tarts and your choice of local coffees or teas. I would 100% recommend staying here the next time you're in Tucson!
6/9/2020 I'm a bit behind on this review but this place will always remain one of my fondest memories. I got the pleasure of staying here during my work trip. Upon arriving, I was so pleased to see such a unique hotel setup. It's one of the most creative hotels I've ever been to. I was greeted by the front desk employee and showed to where my room would be. I did get to enjoy their pool the next day. It was very empty at the moment which was awesome for myself. The ambiance of the hotel was very artsy. Which Tuscan is known for an artists haven. Everything here was great, my room felt very homey. Kind of small, but I don't need much for a nights rest. I would most definitely return here whenever I'm back in Tuscan. read more

This is an amazing boutique motel with a hip and laid-back atmosphere. I won't be staying anywhere else next time I'm in Tucson! My boyfriend and I stayed two nights out of our 60-day road trip here. It was a highlight of the trip. The rooms are decked out artistically, and there are beautiful murals on exterior walls all over the property. Between the lounge areas, board games, video games, ping pong table, bean bag toss, pool, and more, I'm not sure which is my favorite amenity. The staff were very friendly! We were offered free drink vouchers which we exchanged for delicious draft beer at the bar. Our room was spotless. Coffee is not provided in-room, but is available in the lobby. The AC worked really well (thank goodness, with 115°+ temps). The TV is Roku-equipped, and HUGE (55"). I really enjoyed the soft lighting, wood panel ceiling, and modern retro appliances. I have absolutely zero complaints and I wish I could leave more than five stars. read more

2700th review! Hotel McCoy is the real McCoy! The combination of friendly employees, unique quirkiness, good amenities, reasonable rates and pet friendly rooms can't be beat. - There are various room layouts including single king, double queen, family style bunk bed and queen bed combo, and kitchenettes. - No pet fee! They even have doggie treats at the entrance for your friend Fido. Note that they don't allow cats or venomous reptiles though so put away that king cobra or jaguar and hire a sitter for goodness sakes. - Amenities include heated pool, patio area with retro tables and cornhole, board games for rental, a free drink (Alcoholic or non), gym, laundry room and free hot breakfast. The breakfast bar includes coffee, tea, Honest Kids juice, milk or water, oatmeal with a plethora of delicious toppings, fresh fruit and PopTarts. Toppings for the oatmeal bar include hemp seed, chia, granola, dried fruit, nuts, and ground flaxseed. Good stuff! You even have your choice of creamer for the oatmeal (Half and half, milk or almond milk), and cinnamon or cocoa powder. We normally forgo free hotel breakfast to get food from local breakfast spots nearby but due to convenience, variety of oatmeal toppings and the toddler's enthusiasm for the oatmeal we ate breakfast here every day of our stay. - While we could hear people talking and walking past our room directly outside I didn't hear anything from our neighboring rooms which was nice. - One of the negatives of the room was that the floors were really dirty. After stepping foot into our room and walking around it looked like we had been working in a coal mine while barefoot for the day. If you stay here I'd recommend wearing shoes or socks inside if you don't go for the sooty soled look. - The bathroom tub looked spotlessly clean and shower pressure was decent. Hot water was plentiful. - I love that they offer a kindness rate. Basically do a kind deed for someone to book at a discount. I make an effort to be kind (And in the '80s, to also rewind) but I do feel these days some people need an incentive to just be a decent human being :p - The TV offered a pretty nice screen resolution and has a Roku player if you want to use your Netflix, Disney+, etc. account. - As for Covid precautions: * Masks required inside the lobby * Most but not all staff wear masks * Rooms are cleaned according to CDC and AHLA standards. Adorable!!! Must stay when in Tucson!! Retro yet modern, cool, chill vibe! This hotel is located just off the highway and a couple minutes from downtown Tucson. It's a little gem in the middle of industrial and residential areas. Single level hotel with parking at your door. Many cool amenities and oddities. I'll try to round them all up in my review.... First, you'll enter by driving through an arch with awesome lighting and painting on the inside. To the side of that is an old vintage car and rock garden. Circle around the entire hotel (it's one way driving) and park towards the front to check in. Upon check-in you are given a token each for drinks; they have a wide selection of wines and beers. We are not drinkers, so we didn't partake. But very cool idea!! Would have been nice to use them for a bottle of water, instead we paid a buck each (which is still not too shabby). Maybe we should have asked if we can use them for water? They are so cool here that it probably would have been okay. Murals and quotes are painted all along the walls outside the hotel, make sure you walk through the center of the middle building to see the great lighting and painting through that area too. On the grounds you'll find a unique little bookstore, a small gym (treadmill, elliptical, weights), laundry room (make sure you have change... $3 in quarters only to operate either washer or dryer, and they don't have change at the front desk nor a change machine), but there are dryer sheets and laundry detergent to use, plus irons and a wall-mounted ironing board. Inside the laundry/gym is where you'll find the absolute BEST ice in the entire galaxy... "rabbit turd" ice is what we call it, you know, those little pellets that make your drink so much more exciting! Walk up towards the main lobby, which is manned 24/7, and you'll see the little gift shop type room, coffee bar, game playing area (complete with board games), outside of that they've provided cornhole, ping pong, foosball, and fire "pit". There is also a heated saltwater pool. Want to ride bikes? There are bikes and helmets available as well! They've thought of everything to make you enjoy this place!! Each room has a little sitting area out in front of their door, you can sit and enjoy the beautiful Arizona sky or soak in some morning sunshine. We stayed in a single Queen room and it was small but totally adequate! Huge mounted Roku TV, super comfy tempur-pedic mattress, wall A/C unit, nightstand, desk with paper and chalk (for chalkboard behind door), USB plugs, several styles of pillows to choose from, hair dryer, soaps, lotions, shampoo, an adorable retro fridge. This hotel is very dog friendly, there were more dogs here than any place I think I've ever stayed! I love it!!! For breakfast they offer the World's Longest Oatmeal Bar... and PopTarts, complete with boxed juices. There's just about every topping you can think of to put on your oatmeal and it was DELICIOUS oatmeal too! There are snacks and drinks you can buy any time of day, for a minimal fee. Just a skosh over $300 for us to stay 2 nights over Thanksgiving weekend! If I can make a couple suggestions that would have made our stay absolutely perfect. 1) Put in a change machine in the laundry area. 2) Number the parking spots to correspond to the room so that we know where to park. 3) Put in some evening lighting in the cornhole area. However, none of this was even a huge issue though. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be back any time we are passing through the Tucson area! Thank you so much!!! Aesthetic Over Amenities - Not Worth the Price If you're looking for a hotel that prioritizes "artsy vibes" over basic hospitality, Hotel McCoy is the place for you. If you actually want a comfortable stay with decent service, hot water, and drinkable coffee--look elsewhere. The Highlights (or rather, the Lowlights): -The front desk staff acted like answering a simple question was the biggest inconvenience of their day. -Tiny, unimpressive room. The "vintage charm" felt more like outdated and cheap. The shower? Straight out of a nursing home--tiny shower head, awkward bench, and worst of all, NO hot water. When we asked about it, we got a shrug and a "it's an old building and pipes" excuse. -Scratchy sheets, zero comfort. Because who doesn't love sleeping on what feels like a thrift store bargain-bin bed set? -Breakfast was advertised as oatmeal, and Pop-Tarts. In reality, it was just sad, plastic cups of soggy oatmeal with 5-6 toppings laid out, although half the toppings bins were empty. -Coffee was weak, watery, and barely resembling coffee. I threw it away after one sip. No creamer options either--just whole or almond milk. If you need a real cup of coffee to function, it's not at Hotel McCoy. -we paid over $400 for our room. This place is charging boutique hotel prices for a stay that barely meets Quality Inn standards. At least at a Quality Inn, you get hot water. -The website mentions free drink tokens at check-in, but we never got them until we had to go back and ask. Not a huge deal, but if you're going to advertise something, follow through. -EV charging had two ports available, but only one actually worked. At the end of the day, Hotel McCoy is all about the look but completely misses the mark on basic comfort and service. If they focused half as much on hospitality as they do on murals and "curated experiences," maybe it would be worth it. Until then? Save your money and book literally anywhere else. read more

I'm just done. Had a day pass to use the pool. Electricians were working on things around the pool so we couldn't use the bathroom nearest to the pool. Then the pool cleaner said we had to get out for 30-45 mins in order to clean it. I had a small amount of time to swim and it was ruined. On my anniversary too. This isn't even counting when my birthday was spoiled during a stay here three years ago. Staff didn't offer anything or a pass to return another day. Since it was booked through a third party, it absolves them of responsibility I suppose. Congrats on messing up two important life events for me. Never again. read more

I love this place- I'd give 10 stars if possible. Before I write my love song, I do think it's important to stress that if you are a traveler who needs amenities such as room service, fluffy robes, and a mini-bar, this will NOT be for you. This hotel is for the open-minded adventurer, a person who prefers quirkiness and a unique experience. If you are eco-conscious, an art lover, a supporter of local makers- this is a place for you. From the moment we arrived at the mural covered lobby (with a great classic automobile helping mark the spot) the staff couldn't do enough for us. They are so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is also an art gallery- everything framed in the lobby and displayed in the rooms is for sale, in addition to an art vending machine in the parking lot. The bar serves only Arizona made beer and wine (and give you a drink on the house at check-in), and there is also a locally owned bookstore and a local food truck on premises. The room we stayed in was decorated with a retro/modern/minimalist aesthetic. The toiletries are in eco-friendly refillable bottles. The bed was comfortable, the hot water plentiful, it was definitely a way above average stay. If I find myself in Tucson again, this is the only place I will stay. read more

As with most hotels/motels there are pro's and con's of staying there, my review will include a mixture of them both. The hotel does offer some cool amenities like the ping pong table, pinball machine, fire pit, heated pool, etc. When it comes to their "board games" it would be nice if they could add a few more tabletop games to the collection vs just a few games that feel they are more geared towards kids. There are some great review sites & tabletop gamers who could offer some great suggestions on inexpensive, fun & engaging games that would be perfect to have in the lobby. They have an on-site book store which we were excited to visit. On the first day we arrived we got there about 3pm, I had asked what time the bookstore was open as I heard a staff member tell someone else it was closed. I was told it was open from about 10am till 5pm & that the store owner had gone home for the day & that if she came in the next day she would get there in the morning. The staff member had explained that the girl who runs the bookstore owns it & kind of sets here own hours, which is cool & good for her but slightly bummer for people who are from out of town & wanting to visit while they stay. We did get lucky and she was in during the afternoon the next day so we picked up one or two things. Breakfast was alright, we went slightly later than the start time so the oatmeal was a bit mushy by the time we got there but we really enjoyed the amount of toppings they offered. They also had oranges, apples and poptarts along with a toaster out on the counter to use. I thought it was strange that at the end there was a little basket with what looked like butter and jelly packets but there was nothing to put it on? I get that the hotel doesn't have a kitchen for a traditional breakfast & they are looking to go with cheaper options for breakfast but it would be nice if they added some bagels or bread to toast in the toaster available. I enjoyed the feel of their front office area, it was welcoming and playing ping pong was fun. The food truck smelled really awesome, but we didn't get any. Room wise, the beds were really comfortable and it is cool they have a roku set up to the TV. We did have some issues with the remote working, but we figured it out. I feel like the floor in our room hadn't been swept or mopped before our arrival. When we got there I took off my shoes & socks to get comfortable after a long day driving around and hadn't walked around the room that much before going to sit down when I noticed that the bottom of my feet were gross, they had a layer of dirt/dust collected from the floor so I went into the bathroom to wash my feet and put on another pair of socks. That way I could take them off before bed and not get any of the dirt from the floor onto the white bedding they have. I also noticed one spot behind the door & a spot under the desk where it looked like a piece of what could have been dog food was missed during the sweep. Being a older remodeled motel the shower pressure also isn't that great, but it gets the job done. The art work all over the place is pretty cool & neat to walk around the property to see. The place didn't seem that busy the week we were there, but price wise you wouldn't think that, I do wish it had been a bit cheaper considering there was another hotel I found with a hot tub in the room that was cheaper however I went with this one for all the other amenities. So I had a hard time deciding on three or four stars for the review as it does have a lot of offer but there are a few things that could be improved. read more

On our way to (hopefully) see the solar eclipse. Stayed at Hotel McCoy in Tucson. Very happy to have chosen this place. Funky, retro 50s/60s decor. The complimentary beverage helps get people out of their rooms and socializing. As for the room, it was clean and comfortable - no complaints. read more
This was one of the coolest hotel I've ever been to during an out of town vacation. It's setup like an old school motel, but with every room and office setup with artistic vibes. They offered us a free beer at the bar and was able to watch my out of state sports team. They offer a heated pool, so that was a very nice option and we we had our own little kitchenette in our room. They have a good truck that comes for certain hours of the day, so you don't have to leave if you don't want to. If we had more time, we would've stayed for more nights. Hotel was amazing! Wall unit a/c had me worried, as we arrived late in the day when it was nearing 100 degrees, but the room was cool, and stayed cool. Whole family loved the vibe, the art, the little details here and there. Highly recommend. read more

Might be one of my favorite places I have ever stayed? Love art and therefore loved all the murals. Cute little book store and gift shop too! And everything is just generally cute and colorful and AZ inspired. Also VERY dog friendly. They have a little dog potty area in the front with bags. Awesome oatmeal bar for breakfast. They serve the oatmeal and you pick from the many topping options. Coffee and pop tarts are also available. Kind staff. Just overall very obsessed with this place. read more

What a neat place Hotel McCoy is. The murals are what stand out immediately. So many colors. Beautiful artistry. Why don't more places do this?! Just don't hire the homewrecker that is now my "wasband's" girlfriend. Please. Two middle fingers up to her all day long. Then there's the super nice staff members. Tokens for free adult beverages. The small pool looked refreshing, but we didn't partake as it was lightning and thundering upon our arrival, then we simply ran out of time. The room ($101.71 for a double queen room - I called for a better rate) was cozy and clean. Had everything we needed. Then I ordered our complimentary breakfast the next morning via email. It was at our door within about a half hour. The boast "the world's longest oatmeal bar." Kind of funny, but true. Here's what I ordered: 1 oatmeal with: Dried blueberries Granola Pecans Flax seeds Brown sugar Cinnamon Whole milk 1 toasted strawberry poptart & a toasted cherry 2 Juice boxes 1 tea The parking lot is bright at night time with well-lit lamps so if someone is snooping near your vehicle you can see them fairly clearly. The spots are numbered so you may park in front of your room conveniently. read more

One of the best hotel experiences of my life (and I have stayed in some pretty exceptional hotels). I wish there were more stars to give. This is a period correct motel from the 1960's brought up to 2024 standards. So much fun. Oatmeal bar in the morning with all of the fixn's. Well appointed rooms with fridge. Table for two outside your room for work. Food cart on premise for dinner. Clean and SO WELL maintained. Staff was wonderful. You really felt like they wanted you to be there. I cannot possibly say enough good things. It is in a light industrial part of town but felt safe and secure.This isn't the Ritz but it is the best interpretation of a 1960's motel I have ever stayed in. You forget how nice it is to park right in front of your door and walk 10 steps to your room. I will stay again. Highest recommendation possible. read more

Lots of charm, clean, great vibe and really nice staff. Not expensive, great location and super pet friendly. Near the freeway, so if you want super quite, don't stay here. We have stayed here 3 times. This last trip was for 3 days to check out the National parks near by. Other trips were one nighters. The pool is warm in the winter ( heated) and they have bikes to lend out as well. Beds are cozy with great quality pillows. The one little con is food. The breakfast / coffee is terrible. We found a great place near by to get coffee called Decibel Coffee very close by. We didn't do the food truck option, which is on site, never was open when we were around. read more

We liked EVERYTHING about out stay here on July 4th! friendly, courteous, helpful staff, cute room, all sorts of activities to participate in. The grounds and room were spotless. The beautiful murals in each room are done by lopcal artists, as are the paintings that adorn the outsie walls surrounding the hotel. The furnishings in each room, lobby, and bar area are in beautiful condition, all retro & brought back memories of my childhood. There were LOTS of activities to participate in that night, but in the bar area, on each table, there are 'table-toppers' that have a list of activities going on every other day each week. ALWAYS something interesting to do here, whether one is a guest, or local. Also onsite is a locally owned food truck, "Trans Fat" Vietnamese food. We DID bring our own food in a cooler that night, but this hotel is roughly 10 minutes from our house, so we WILL try it at another time...hear their offerings are very tasty! There's also a beautiful pool, gym and even pinball machines And since The Hotel Mc Coy is so close to our home, we've already decided to return SOON for a drink, a nosh or an activity in an establishment that gives off the warm, welcoming vibes of being at a neighbors' home. Been here yet No? You GOTTA try it! I promise you'll love this place. read more

This is my 2nd time staying here. I'd stay here again, even with a couple of minuses, because the vibe and uniqueness really outweigh them. Their staff are friendly, the lobby in the evening becomes a cool little bar, hang out joint. The pool becomes magical with all the shine from the Tucson stars with the added brilliance from the string of lights across the back yard area. A food truck was there last night and although we just came from having dinner, the aromas were tantalizing! Several people where sitting, relaxing and chatting poolside, a couple where enjoy the water. It all leant itself to a beautiful, relaxed evening atmosphere. Art work, poems, parking space tags, writings in the room, breakfast bar, laundry/gym, all groovy bonuses! So minor blahs...dog friendly is cool. Doggies barking next door often throughout the night and at our window...bow oww. The buildings are brick, but the walls seemed made of paper. The a/c unit helped some to drown it out, but when the desired temperature was reached n it shut off, I promise we could hear the guest next door, pass gas. Next time we'll just keep the a/c cranked!! read more

Love, Love this place! What an amazing find right off the 10 freeway. So many great things about this place. Taking a old motel and turning it into a beautiful local stop. From the whole place being decorated by a bunch of local artist, to the updated rooms that are comfy and quiet while decorated in retro chic. Being greeted by a wonderful employee who is local and know all about the area and getting a poker chip to come and trade for local wine or beer after you have put your stuff down. Then get into the local food, beer and wine scene that is blowing up. We came for the saguaro cactus park and just wanted to stay for every thing else. On the COVID note! They were way respectful and brought breakfast that was prepaid with gloves and sealed for us to our door by a masked gloved person. Just so much care. I'm planning on coming back to stay here and do the local beer tour that starts here at the Hotel and then hit some local food. read more

We were moving across country, and this was a convenient place to stop right off the 10. We had dogs and a kid with us and booked the family unit. We were all in the same room, but there was plenty of space. I appreciated the extra fan being in the room on top of the A/C as it was HOT! The art and additions around the property were entertaining. Small motel with parking in front of your room. The lobby had a vibe with a bar, more art, tables, and games to play. No restaurant, but they have a food truck in the parking lot that was good. Breakfast was included, but not really our thing just oatmeal and little things to grab. Poptart's, fruit, coffee. Could not beat the price for the area though! read more

This was a "blast from the past" experience. After "hoteling" for the past few decades, I was looking forward to reliving my childhood staying in a traditional motel setting, parking right in front of the room and the ice machine a short walk away. The upgrades and decor are both hip and charming. The bed was super comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. The free drink token was fun as they offer local beer and wine options. I was disappointed that the Tran's Fat food truck was not available during my short, one night stay so I had to venture out (after a long and tiring day) to grab a bite. As for breakfast...I love oatmeal, but I'm a steel cut type rather than the mushy type, so I didn't eat much and besides pop tarts and some fresh fruit, that was breakfast. However, that was not a problem. I have to admit, I enjoyed my pop tart which is another childhood memory. I got a kick out of the chalkboard and chalk in the room with the encouragement to add a little art. So, I had fun with that! All in all, a very nice stay with some room for improvement (empty body wash bottle in shower, the need for a little room air freshener) which is the reason for 4 out 5 stars. read more

This hotel was absolutely wonderful to arrive at after a long day of driving! It is super close to the interstate which was very convenient, especially for a road trip where we needed to get up and start driving early the next morning. The rooms were neat and tidy and the beds were comfortable. I always love a hotel that has hard floors instead of tile. The hotel has beautiful murals around it which were very pleasant and me and my family enjoyed taking pictures of them. Breakfast in the morning was an oatmeal bar which had great variety and was delicious. The coffee was also tasty and fresh. I also wanted to give a shout out to the staff who were very kind about me spilling my oatmeal all over the floor and were quick to clean it up and encourage me to get another dish. All in all I highly recommend staying here and will be back again if I am in town! Pros: Clean and comfortable Pet friendly Good breakfast (with vegan options!) Very cute! Cons: There is minor noise from the interstate/some noise does come from other rooms. This was very minor and did not bother me but could be a consideration if you are a very light sleeper. read more

Let me say that I used to know the motel that existed before Hotel McCoy and I used to be an inspector in Tucson and was able to see some of the renovation process. I was still amazed to see what beauty they've created with Hotel McCoy. We unexpectedly had to return to Tucson and needed a place to stay. I was able to book at 7pm before leaving vegas and we checked in at 2am. There's someone at the front desk all night which is really nice. I love the fact that you can usually park right in front of your room too! Now, the room itself was simple and nothing fancy, but clean and a nice place to sleep. I loved the chalkboard on the back of the door! The only issue was the A/C unit... it took a while for me to figure out how to work it despite the helpful instructions posted (totally my fault). We stayed 2 nights and took advantage of the free breakfast (delicious!) and I love that they source locally for their coffee (presta). We also enjoyed a complimentary local beer which was lovely. Every employee we encountered was incredibly kind and we really enjoyed our short time at Hotel McCoy. We still have family in a Tucson and have definitely decided to stay at Hotel McCoy anytime we come to visit. read more
