Where do I even begin?? I had the most wonderful weekend at Hotel Mountain Brook and not just because I got engaged during my stay! I have so many good things to say about this place, so I'll break it down: Staff: The owners and staff went above and beyond during our stay to make us feel welcome and give us tips on local spots and hikes. As I mentioned, I got engaged during my stay at Hotel Mountain Brook. My fiancée had called the hotel ahead of time looking for a local photographer and stupendously the woman who answered the phone was a photographer herself. Not only did she take great photos of the proposal, but we were treated with flowers and champagne when we got back to our room. Actual Room: We LOVED that we were able to bring our dog, Rocky along for our trip. Hotel Mountain Brook provided an extra towel to wipe our dogs feet, extra poop bags, and of course- treats. Our room was spacious, had a great view, and was equipped with our own fire place. The shower pressure in the bathroom was also great. Community Spaces: I absolutely love that there were two fire areas set up each night for guests to enjoy. There were blankets and s'mores inside to enjoy, as well as a game room with waters sodas and snacks. We were able to enjoy the outdoor fireplace and space heaters on Friday night while getting drinks from the bar. Breakfast & Bar: Every morning, breakfast is served in the main lodge. There are plenty of options - coffee, toast, eggs, fruit, yogurt, juice, overnight oats and so on. There is also a breakfast special which varies each day. We were lucky enough to have the sausage egg and cheese on Saturday and the French toast on Sunday. Both were absolutely delicious! We also took advantage of the bar both nights and loved that there were so many local options. I cannot say enough good things about the amenities and service at Hotel Mountain Brook. This hotel in the Mountains was one of best hotel I've ever been privileged enough to stay at, beautiful view of nature. Gorgeous building very warn, you feel like you are part of the family, it was a lot snow, very romantic , I can here to celebrate my boyfriend birthday, SANDRA was amazing she help us to find the best place to go hiking, she offer to borrow pair of Spikes Crampons for the shoes, this was perfect for our aventure. She is very attentive and sweet, very polite. The hotel offer Breakfast included with your stay and before anything they ask if you have any food allergy. it was delicious almond pancakes, fruits juice, coffee many different type breads, they have hot breakfast depend on their menu, well served and everything very clean and nice, room are very comfy and well set up, high quality service. I came here with my family for 2 nights. It was a small getaway trip away from the hustle and bustle life of NYC. Upon pulling into the driveway, we were met with a beautiful building that had a log cabin feeling. The young man at the reception desk was polite and showed us to our rooms. He then explained to us the policies and procedures that were put in place for COVID 19. Our rooms were gorgeous and had a small electric fireplace The hotel provided breakfast every morning. The night before we would submit a paper menu that had our breakfast choices for the morning and we had the option to pick it up at the front desk or have it delivered to our room. I was so surprised by how much food we got and we were given a surprise dessert cake each morning. At night, the reception person would light up the outdoor fireplaces and provide complimentary s'mores kits for us to use. There was also complimentary coffee, tea, and soft drinks available at all times for us. The hotel also provided us with DVDs, books, and board games. However, besides hiking there isn't many outdoor activities to do during the summer time. I would come back here in the future. read more

Long story short: This place is amazing! Long story: Everything about this place seemed to good to be true when I read the reviews but to my surprise Hotel Mountain Brook hit every one of my expectations. First off, the location. It's located right off the main road through Tannersville and is perfectly perched right atop a hill, so you're surely gonna capture some great views of the mountainous landscape. The place itself is so incredibly quaint and gives off the homey and warm cabin/lodge feeling. There's only about 20 rooms/cabins to reserve so the staff to patron ratio is very good. And it shows because the staff went out of their way to communicate with everyone and have a friendly chat. It's run by a two people, Sarah and Ryan, who were always around for help. And they were incredibly polite! The rooms themselves were DOPE. Great views, and warm even in the 15 degree weather. The bathtub jets worked so well to my surprise which was great for a jacuzzi like dip after a day of skiing at Hunter Mountain. And the perks! The common space had a game area with an entire wall of DVDs you could take to your room and watch. And if you got hungry or thirsty, there were all sorts of snacks, hot drinks, soda, coffee, you name it, all available in the common space - on the house. Breakfast was every morning, 8-10am and the selections were plentiful. The staff would approach your table or wherever you chose to sit and tell you what was on the menu for the morning and they would prepare it FRESH and bring it out to you. I stayed here in August of '21. I wrote this amazing review but never posted it. So here I am posting it now. Sandra and Ryan take care of this splendid place. They attended to our every need like we were rock stars. But like rock stars at an intimate house party. As soon as we arrived Ryan took my crazy heavy suitcase up the stairs like he was welcoming me into his home, not like he was a hotel porter. Sandra is omnipresent. She overheard me asking for something from the next room and had it in my hand before I had finished my sentence. They start the fire pit as soon as the sun dips every night creating an awesome atmosphere to meet other guests. My husband and I met another couple that I know we will stay friends with. They conveyed a legitimate warmth every time they greeted us. I really enjoyed getting to know them. Take their recommendation and eat at Jessie's. Every single night. Because you'll want to try everything this chef makes. We went two nights in a row. We were feeling lazy and spent most of our stay on the premises. I got some writing done on the porch. My husband read the whole time. I would have liked to explore the game room more. We will definitely be back with friends. And we'll play a game of table shuffleboard. read more

My husband and I have been coming to Tannersville for years (we got married around there). It was a sleepy town that had no energy but that has changed. We decided to plan a weekend stay and landed at the Hotel Mountain Brook. This was exactly what we were looking for. Small(ish), great design, the friendliest staff, fireplaces, Adirondack charm, complimentary snacks, soft drinks, and coffee, and charming, comfortable rooms. If you're looking for a great little getaway, I cannot recommend this place enough. We were there for three days and could've stayed forever! The owners are so sweet and the husband is a chef who makes a killer breakfast every day. They live on property so they're always there. The decor is fabulous, it's incredibly clean, and family friendly. We can't wait to go back- plus if you're a skier, it's at the base of Hunter Mountain! Mountain Brook hotel is a great little inn for a get away. The staff was friendly and helpful but the breakfast, a canadian bacon, egg, lettuce and cheese was just "ok". Your other breakfast choices was everything else you would find in and chain hotel. They did have an area where you could get drinks and snacks anytime, along with a game and DVD room. Clean and quiet. We enjoyed a fire after dinner. The rooms had very comfortable bed but were very small with a tiny cramped bathroom with no closet. Keep in mind, the hotel also caters to animals so if you are allergic to pets you might want to go elsewhere. read more

So extremely disappointed to see that Cozy, Charming, Quintessential Catskill Mountain Brook Inn has been transformed into an off balance, out of place, not sure what I want to be, "Boutique"??? Hotel. When did the Catskill Mountains become a wanna be, City, trendy, flash in the pan, cheaply decorated destination?? Velvet upholstered chairs in Lodge? Black chalk painted wainscot? Chipped already?? Yikes!! What a nightmare!! So sad that perfection was tampered with. Absolutely loved our stay here. Conveniently located just 10mins from Hunter Mountain, this bed and breakfast is a gem. From the moment we checked and throughout our entire stay, the staff was friendly and warm. We stayed for 2 nights in the Rose cabin which had a vintage modern vibe and was comfortable for a family of 4. Everything was clean and well thought out for a wonderful stay. My kids loved hanging in the lodge, playing the games (old school game table with Pac-Man was a hit!), and taking advantage of the dvd library and book library. I really enjoyed the breakfast. It was fresh, delicious, and there was plenty of variety to keep my picky family happy. There is not a lot more to be said that hasn't already been said other than that we can't wait to be back and check out the place again in the summer. read more

We're sitting here on the porch of our room on the last day of our stay and I feel compelled to leave a review because we have had the most wonderful time. I can't say enough about the Mountain Brook. We booked this place when looking for an escape. We were supposed to be married this weekend and postponed due to COVID so we came up to the Catskills for relaxation and adventure. Mountain Brook provided us all the relaxation we could ask for. The room is beautiful with a fireplace, the bed is comfortable, the tub has jets, and the view is absolutely stunning. At night they light a fire and offer s'more's!! The food is unbelievable. They offer Breakfast with your stay every morning - it was hard to choose because everything sounded and tasted so delicious. Seriously 5 star food. The people were wonderful. I'm going to miss Ethan at the front desk - he was so helpful in advice about hiking and finding great places to eat, and just nice to chat with. The hotel is 8 mins from Kaaterskill Falls which we actually hiked more than once during our stay because it was so beautiful. The Mountain Brook is a must stay! We will definitely be back read more

Beautiful bed and breakfast in the mountains. We visited in March and would love to visit again in the summer months. It was a pretty quiet visit , didn't see many other guest which was nice for a quiet night by the fireplace. We were warmly welcomed and taken to our room. Cozy room with a cute little fireplace in the room. We decided to order food to go and have dinner by the fireplace in the main lobby where we were able to purchase beer and play some board games. I'm so tempted to give this place a one star review, for no reason other than my own selfishness and desire to keep this place a secret, but Terrence and Amy have such a wonderful place that it truly deserves 5 stars. My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights here, with the desire to get away from the city area and just relax, and this was the perfect place for that. It definitely has a lodge vibe, but is decorated in a very chic way, versus thinking that you stepped into a really bad and dirty 70's lodge. Everything is immaculate and gorgeous. Amy showed us around the common areas, from the huge breakfast/dining area (with a bar that serves a lot of craft beer as well as wine and huge wood burning fireplace) to the library with a Keurig and a ton of K-cups that you can sit in leather chairs and enjoy. There's a huge porch with sofas to sit on (and blankets that you can bring outside) and enjoy the views of the mountains. We stayed in the Main Lodge, in a superior room (I think it was $250/night) that had a huge (and very clean) bathroom with jacuzzi tub, as well as an in room fireplace and two chairs to sit on. The bed was really comfortable too, and there was a lot of closet space. They have a flat screen tv with DVD player and a collection of DVDs downstairs that you can borrow (as well as books and magazines). Breakfast is served each morning from 8:30-10 a.m., and it is not to be missed (even if you have to set an alarm like we did). This was a huge benefit of staying in the main lodge, since we were told that people really just come down in their pajamas sometimes to get breakfast and then go back to bed. Seriously though - get downstairs for breakfast. There's a setup near the fireplace of coffee (fresh pots are constantly brought out.. and the coffee is GOOD), fruit, juices, yogurt, and granola and then you can choose a breakfast entree off a list of ~6 choices. I had blueberry pancakes every morning because I'm a creature of habit, and I regret nothing - they were fantastic and the staff was so friendly as they brought everything out/took orders. It's a very warm and welcoming place with phenomenal owners and staff working there who really do go above and beyond. We will absolutely be back and will be recommending it to friends and family (just not on a weekend that we want to go back). read more

Wouldn't stay anywhere else! My wife and I were so lucky when looking last minute for somewhere to stay while snowboarding up at hunter mountain. We were lucky to snag the last room on the property. Reasonably priced at $225 a night you get a stay worth plenty more for only slightly more compared to run down motels in the area. So let's get it out of the way - the breakfast It's delicious! Everyday the owner who told us he was previously a chef makes breakfast for all guests free of charge. Breakfast includes a coffe/juice bar with bread, fresh fruit, yogurt etc but what's served is where it's at! Everyday a different gourmet coffee cake is placed on your table - made with dates, blueberrys, lemon, you name it! Delicious! The entrees are even better, however my pallet would not let me choose beyond the breakfast skillet and the chicken because they were that delicious! I'm sure the rest is just as good, my wife loved her poached eggs and hash browns as well! The rooms - the entire place is decorated adirondack style and received an entire overhaul from the owners who told us the place used to be covered in Formica. Actually he told us the previous two generations of owners like it so much that they still come back to stay! The staff is extremely accommodating overall and the rest of the lodge is great with a bar with beer and wine and a cozy couch and a roaring fire. Another room with chairs and a fire place is always accessible with free water, soda, a keurig, granola bars and more. They also keep board games and menus from local restaurants here. Driveway is all clay like the rest of the area which can get muddy but hey this place otherwise is PERFECT! If I'm coming to hunter there's nowhere else that I'm staying. We rescued a dog during quarantine and were excited to see we could bring him with us! Our room had treats welcoming him! The room was amazing as usual. So clean; bed was extremely comfortable; firm but also a little soft. Of course we were so excited for the well known breakfast. Due to COVID, the food was brought to us in the room. We enjoyed on our little 2 person deck off the room. It was perfect. They also had 2 outdoor fires with s'mores kits. I just left from my second trip to the Hotel Mountain Brook. I didn't want to write a review the first time because I really don't want anyone else to know about this place but me I can't say enough about this place and its owners! When you walk in you will immediately feel how warm it is! The Adirondack decor and the smell of fireplaces burning. It also smells like lemons because someone is always cleaning! The place is immaculate! Seriously, not a speck of dust anywhere. You will immediately feel right at home. Terrence and Amy the owners are the nicest people on the planet! They always go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. They pay attention to detail if you mention it's your birthday, anniversary ect. Sometimes they throw in free wine, upgrades as well which is very generous! They even made our dinner reservations for us and got us a discount! They are very knowledgable about the area and will steer you in the right direction for food and fun. Your stay comes with breakfast. Terrence is an excellent chef! The food will blow you away. I highly recommend the skillet! They also set up a cute table with organic coffee, fresh juice, fruit ect. Nicole the waitress is the sweetest person ever!!! ABolutely paradise. Went of Labor Day, one night, superior cabin. Gorgeous everything. The entire area and every part of the lodge, private cabins, and cottages; so worth the trip and the cheap pricing. Amazing water pressure, snacks 24/7, out door porches everywhere. The town is practically one book away and SI soo cute, so interesting, and actually offers amazing shops and restaurants(food; aka currants tavern) I wanna go back as soon as possible. Why you want to stay here: The vibe is of a hipster lodge, with lots of retro paintings of the Catskills in the walls, legions of deer and small creature trophy heads on the reception's walls, very nice staff, and reasonable rooms. It is probably a little over priced at $225/night - $200 seems right - but we very much enjoyed our stay. The good: as everyone says, the breakfast is pretty outstanding. The staff are also extremely kind and friendly. The fireplace in the main dining room is brilliant. Great board games. Lovely vibe. The not so good: you are located next to a soccer field/school, so it feels suburban not remote. In November, out the back there were what look like abandoned houses with windows boarded over. The rooms are fine but not amazing. our bed slumped in the middle as did that of the other couple in another room. If you're looking for a spot to stay near Hunter Mountain, do yourself a favor and book a reservation here. The owner Terrance and his wife are probably the nicest people I've dealt with in terms of booking a last minute room in an area I've never stayed. A 9 minute drive from the base of Hunter, this was an ideal location near local restaurants and right in the middle of where I wanted to be. I checked in late 7PM and they also managed my last minute request on a room change which was awesome. The room was large, clean and refreshing. Gas burning fire place. Comfy sheets. Cozy chairs and carpet with large closets in case you over pack (like me) The lobby was quaint and warm with a nice bar in the back and lounge area where they displayed menus for local restaurants and a large selection of DVDs/ Board Games/ Keurig drinks and more. The host was wonderful and accommodated us in a timely manner. The bathroom was HUGE, clean and the atmosphere here was quite memorable. Breakfast was just as good as the other reviews stated. Once we ordered, they brought out their coffee cake of the day which was baked in a nice skillet. It was delicious. Like, can't even explain what my tastebuds experienced... that good.. I had pancakes, a garden omelette, home fries *well done, eggs over easy and bacon with bottomless coffee/ juice. (& yes, I did finish all of it) Best. bacon. ever. Overall, I will be back here EVERY time I am in HUNTER & totally recommend booking with them. I didn't talk much to her but as guest treatment you can tell that Its a family owned business. Few standouts from my experience. 1. As you enter the premise you're truly going to love the cute Vintage/ Cottage looking architecture. 2. The rooms are Super Clean with Shower/tv/ DVD with DVDs library downstairs. 3. You can sit outside the Cabin or in the backyard fire place 4. The place is so peaceful that it's kinda mediation to stay here. This was my second stay at Mountain Brook. I was so excited to show my family what an amazing lodge this was. We were not disappointed. Every second of our stay was incredible. The service provided by Michael at the front desk was by far the best customer service I have ever experienced on vacation. We were a big family and had a lot of requests since we were throwing a birthday party and had multiple families with us and every need was met. I just returned from a stay at this place and I was so disappointed. I had read through the reviews online, as well as Hotel Mountain Brook (HMB) website, so I thought I knew what to expect, but I was very wrong. Service was nonexistent. No one was there when I arrived in the pouring rain at 7 PM. A note was left for me with a key to my room. The "hotel" was empty & I couldn't find anyone to answer basic questions like whether there are any places open nearby to get some dinner. I ended up having to go back out in the rain & eventually found an old Grand Union grocery store up the street to purchase sandwich supplies for dinner. I was the only customer in the store, which was unsettling, as was the fact that many of the store's items had expiration dates that had already past. Tannersville is apparently a ghost town on a Wednesday evening. I was told by my breakfast server that I was the only guest staying at the HMB that night. This management had ONE guest and they couldn't be bothered to show up to check me in? Or meet me the next day to see how everything was going? Or to check me out? I clearly did not matter at all to these people. Once they had my money, they were done with me apparently. The only employees I ever saw were the breakfast servers (a woman on Thursday & a man on Friday). They were nice enough, but did not introduce themselves and they did not seem to have much information about HMB. My second day there I saw a man behind the front desk with 2 other people and I approached him to ask where the ice machine was (an ice machine was listed on the in-room card). He acted as if my presence was an imposition & could only bring himself to point & tell me the ice machine was "around the corner." I never found it, despite walking around the entire main building, including the upstairs hallways. When I walked back out to the front, the man took my ice bucket, stomped down some stairs, & brought back ice. I don't know who this man was because he never introduced himself to me or engaged in any of the usual niceties, like saying hello. At 6:15 AM today, while I was sleeping, the fire alarm started going off in my room. I jumped out of bed, put on some shoes, & went outside. No one was there. No employee of the hotel, no fire department, nothing. The alarm eventually turned off. I didn't see any smoke and no one was there to tell me what was going on, so I decided to go back inside and wait until I could finally check out of this abandoned motel. When I went to check out this morning, again no one was at the front desk or anywhere in the lobby area. I called the number left on the desk twice ("call for service" printed on a sign on the desk), but couldn't reach anyone. I left a voicemail informing them that I was checking out & very unhappy with my stay. No one has responded to the message as of yet. So the service was terrible & the people I did encounter acted like I was bothering them with my presence. But what caused me the greatest disappointment was not the lack of service; it was the deceptive description of the accommodations. I stayed in what they call a "superior cabin." The HMB website describes the "cabins" in this way: "Roomy queen size cabins with handcrafted fireplace surrounds, sitting areas, and private porch for outdoor relaxation with fabulous mountain views." This is not true. They are not free-standing cabins. What it is is a motel set-up, with one long building with multiple rooms. Each room's front door opens to the outside. It is just not truthful to call these rooms "cabins"; they are motel rooms, albeit nice motel rooms. My room had a fireplace and whirlpool tub and was decorated in a woodsy theme. It was nice, though the bathroom was tiny (see photo), but it was definitely was not what they described it to be. These rooms share walls with other rooms and my second night there I could hear voices through the wall. I thought I was going to have a cabin to myself, since all HMB's literature describes these rooms as "cabins." The HMB website should just be ignored. Check-out time is 11 AM, not noon as it says on the website. The WiFi in my room was intermittent, with such spotty service that I gave up trying to use it. There was a small dorm-size refrigerator that even on its highest setting was only slightly cooler than room temperature. There was no HBO on my television. Both the jacuzzi tub and the fireplace are on timers that tick loudly, which makes it feel even more like a cheap motel room. I paid $378 for 2 nights mid-week in a glorified motel room with zero customer service. I think there are much better deals in the area and I would encourage everyone to look at other places rather than staying here. I was very, very disappointed. read more

This place is amazing I'm so happy my boyfriend and I decided to stay here. It's so cosy and owned by a family that definitely make you feel right at home. Our room and the whole place is kept extremely clean and they offer great services. Every morning we came down to a AMAZING breakfast cooked by the owner himself and at night they light a fire outside. There walking distance to a little strip of stores which are also really nice and unique. The owners are so nice and really down to earth people they were quick to jump with anything we needed and were really social with all there guests, on our last day we couldn't stay for breakfast cause we were in a rush to make it home by a certain time so they even packed us a cake like breakfast muffin. My partner and I, who previously owned a thirteen room inn and restaurant in Vermont, stayed at Hotel Mountain Brook with Amy and Terrence over President's Day Weekend. We were warmly greeted and given a tour of the inn. Amy took us to our room located in the East Lodge and immediately made us feel welcomed! The mountain views from our room on the snowy days were beautiful. Breakfast each morning was wonderful. Terrence, is a trained CIA chef. There were several selections from crab and asparagus frittatas to blueberry pancakes. You leave the table stuffed! We dined at their Valentine's dinner which was a four course dinner. It was absolutely delicious. They transformed the dining area into a romantic setting. We were seated directly in front of the large stone wood burning fireplace. The wine list was reasonably priced, too! We believe they have plans to plan more dinner events. Be sure to check them out! Everyone who works at the inn is friendly and attentive. The inn offers private rooms with baths to private cabins with king size beds and porches. It is located in the quaint town of Tannersville, NY.
