Breakfast special - sausage egg and cheese
    Melissa M.

Where do I even begin?? I had the most wonderful weekend at Hotel Mountain Brook and not just because I got engaged during my stay! I have so many good things to say about this place, so I'll break it down: Staff: The owners and staff went above and beyond during our stay to make us feel welcome and give us tips on local spots and hikes. As I mentioned, I got engaged during my stay at Hotel Mountain Brook. My fiancée had called the hotel ahead of time looking for a local photographer and stupendously the woman who answered the phone was a photographer herself. Not only did she take great photos of the proposal, but we were treated with flowers and champagne when we got back to our room. Actual Room: We LOVED that we were able to bring our dog, Rocky along for our trip. Hotel Mountain Brook provided an extra towel to wipe our dogs feet, extra poop bags, and of course- treats. Our room was spacious, had a great view, and was equipped with our own fire place. The shower pressure in the bathroom was also great. Community Spaces: I absolutely love that there were two fire areas set up each night for guests to enjoy. There were blankets and s'mores inside to enjoy, as well as a game room with waters sodas and snacks. We were able to enjoy the outdoor fireplace and space heaters on Friday night while getting drinks from the bar. Breakfast & Bar: Every morning, breakfast is served in the main lodge. There are plenty of options - coffee, toast, eggs, fruit, yogurt, juice, overnight oats and so on. There is also a breakfast special which varies each day. We were lucky enough to have the sausage egg and cheese on Saturday and the French toast on Sunday. Both were absolutely delicious! We also took advantage of the bar both nights and loved that there were so many local options. I cannot say enough good things about the amenities and service at Hotel Mountain Brook. We will definitely be back!

Long story short: This place is amazing! Long story: Everything about this place seemed to good to be true when I read the reviews but to my surprise Hotel Mountain Brook hit every one of my expectations. First off, the location. It's located right off the main road through Tannersville and is perfectly perched right atop a hill, so you're surely gonna capture some great views of the mountainous landscape. The place itself is so incredibly quaint and gives off the homey and warm cabin/lodge feeling. There's only about 20 rooms/cabins to reserve so the staff to patron ratio is very good. And it shows because the staff went out of their way to communicate with everyone and have a friendly chat. It's run by a two people, Sarah and Ryan, who were always around for help. And they were incredibly polite! The rooms themselves were DOPE. Great views, and warm even in the 15 degree weather. The bathtub jets worked so well to my surprise which was great for a jacuzzi like dip after a day of skiing at Hunter Mountain. And the perks! The common space had a game area with an entire wall of DVDs you could take to your room and watch. And if you got hungry or thirsty, there were all sorts of snacks, hot drinks, soda, coffee, you name it, all available in the common space - on the house. Breakfast was every morning, 8-10am and the selections were plentiful. The staff would approach your table or wherever you chose to sit and tell you what was on the menu for the morning and they would prepare it FRESH and bring it out to you. I gots more to say but this should be enough to convince you to pay a visit here next time you're planning a trip to the area!

Hotel Mountain Brook was absolutely amazing. The ambiance was great and felt very cozy. We loved our stay here for many reasons. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and cozy, and the location was perfect. I've been coming to tannersville/windham for years now but this was my first time staying at Mountain Brook and I can assure you I will be staying again! They make breakfast fresh every morning too!

Wonderful hotel is a great get away. The staff was friendly and the breakfast that is included is amazing. Clean and quiet. We enjoyed a fire with s'mores after hiking and dinner. I can't recommend more.

    Can't beat this view!

We had the best stay at Hotel Mountain Brook! We stayed in room 7 (which is a deluxe king) and absolutely loved it! The views from all sides of this hotel are incredible, not to mention breakfast was included (and delicious)! The hospitality was unmatched- Sandra and her team work so hard to make the experience enjoyable! Would recommend this hotel to anyone coming into town to ski, or just to escape to a serene and cozy getaway :)

If you're looking for a great little getaway, I cannot recommend this place enough. We were there for three days and could've stayed forever! The owners are so sweet and the husband is a chef who makes a killer breakfast every day. They live on property so they're always there. The decor is fabulous, it's incredibly clean, and family friendly. We can't wait to go back- plus if you're a skier, it's at the base of Hunter Mountain! My only complaint would be the bed wasn't comfortable and squeaked but everything was simply wonderful!

We stayed in mid-October 2019. What a beautiful place to stay, the room was stunning and the food was amazing! Very close to shopping and a quick drive to beautiful hiking trails. We also popped over to Opus 40 and Woodstock and it was a really nice drive.

DELICIOUS breakfast with a view included every morning.

We're sitting here on the porch of our room on the last day of our stay and I feel compelled to leave a review because we have had the most wonderful time. I can't say enough about the Mountain Brook. We booked this place when looking for an escape. We were supposed to be married this weekend and postponed due to COVID so we came up to the Catskills for relaxation and adventure. Mountain Brook provided us all the relaxation we could ask for. The room is beautiful with a fireplace, the bed is comfortable, the tub has jets, and the view is absolutely stunning. At night they light a fire and offer s'more's!! The food is unbelievable. They offer Breakfast with your stay every morning - it was hard to choose because everything sounded and tasted so delicious. Seriously 5 star food. The people were wonderful. I'm going to miss Ethan at the front desk - he was so helpful in advice about hiking and finding great places to eat, and just nice to chat with. The hotel is 8 mins from Kaaterskill Falls which we actually hiked more than once during our stay because it was so beautiful. The Mountain Brook is a must stay! We will definitely be back

Beautiful bed and breakfast in the mountains. We visited in March and would love to visit again in the summer months. It was a pretty quiet visit , didn't see many other guest which was nice for a quiet night by the fireplace. We were warmly welcomed and taken to our room. Cozy room with a cute little fireplace in the room. We decided to order food to go and have dinner by the fireplace in the main lobby where we were able to purchase beer and play some board games. The best part was the breakfast. A nice breakfast pastries was brought out as you wait for your meal. Everything down to the coffee was delicious! Can't wait to return

Due to the unreliability of a "corporate" company charging excessively high prices for a motel room in the middle of absolutely nowhere where there's absolutely nothing to do for entertainment, shower was not in proper working order, your "continental" breakfast choice severely limited, front desk girl hanging up on me because she didn't want to work past her allotted time, one would think they, corporate, would not only take their job responsibilities seriously but would actually do their job and in a timely manner. I live on a very tight strict budget wherein I get paid once a month. This money is detrimental for me to survive. Being that 3 weeks have passed payroll has to have been written and given so why couldn't a meager check be written and mailed? If this is how a corporate company operates they obviously do not take their job seriously enough to put a customer first then this corporation deserves to be known for their irresponsibility and I have absolutely no problem exposing them. What a gem. This was a unique peaceful getaway. We had…read morevisited as a family many years ago. The back deck is open to the public. The kids waded in the Hudson River. There was a group of lively people going in and out of the building. They offered to take our picture and they told us they were staying at the light house. STAYING!? Yes. Staying , as in sleeping in beds inside; using the facility ... SPENDING the night. Wow. I needed to find out how to do this. Later on I joined their email list... And forgot about it. Fast forward to last summer. I got an email at 9:03am from the Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy informing me that next week- they had a cancellation and and opening for a single night's stay. That room was booked at 9:08! And my husband, the Fast n Furious franchise lover- the "I only tolerate nature walks" guy was, unbeknownst to him about to spend the night... in a light house. Begrudgingly. Drive up. Park in the small lot and walk though the fence which leads to a trail. The hike is short but time your arrival with the tide , or you may have to wade though some of the river water. The building is historic so History buffs would love it. The stairs have a pleasant creak to them. The living room has books about the area. The hall upstairs has a shelf with more books and games for Kids. No phones or televisions. Heaven. There is a room designated as a small Museum which documents the history Of the lighthouse. Our guest room was enough. We had two different window exposures, one of them looking right over the river. The bed was only a full size - a bit cramped for a big guy and his wife. But hey! I am sleeping in lighthouse sooo I don't care. There is a gracious innkeeper who lives onsite in a separated part of the house. The back deck is boat shaped and has a series of beautiful wood tables over looking the Hudson River. It was mid- afternoon and we had the place all to ourselves when we checked in. We had packed a lunch for the patio. The day was beautiful. When you sleep in a lighthouse you get a key. It gives you access to the house and the ladder which leads up to the actual light and the 360 degree views of the area. Nearing sunset, We climbed up and were able to look down at people who were on the deck. Some of them looked up at us confused as if wondering how we got up there? We had the key! It was a beautiful sunset. I stayed up In the glass enclosure until the light turned on. Since our room windows were huge and we left the shades up, I awoke at dawn and to the sound of the waves lapping outside. A few minutes later I heard voices and when I looked outside there were some fisherman passing very close to us in a small boat. So close I could have had a conversation with them from my window. The innkeeper cooked us a breakfast of French Toast with strawberries, eggs, juice and coffee. It was just all so pleasant and quaint that I didn't want it to end. We had to checkout two hours early because my husband had to get to work. Overall I loved every minute of it. I slept in a Lighthouse. I can't believe I got the chance.

For me,…read morethose opportunities are few and far between so when it happens, it leaves an impression that I'll carry and remember fondly for a long while. My darling boyfriend surprised me with an impromptu weekend trip to the beautiful Saugerties Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast a few weeks ago. He'd been stalking their website months prior, never finding any openings, but alas, thanks to a last minute cancellation and some impeccable timing, he was able to snag a night for us at this charming BB. The lighthouse only operates as a BB on Thurs-Sunday, and it's open all year round. Reservations must be made months in advance so if you want to visit during a particular season, I suggest to start your planning two full seasons prior. The drive up was scenic and lovely. We downloaded some podcasts and had goggle maps lead the way. We chose to avoid tolls and that increased our ETA by 15 minutes but it was great, and only took about 2.5 hours to get there! The lighthouse has a shared fridge for its guests so we brought food with us for the stay, not knowing what to expect, but it turned out not to be necessary because we found some really great farmers markets along the way, and bought more food than we needed. The lighthouse also has a grill that guests can use, as well as nearby restaurant options. Make sure you bring your rain boots if you plan to go with the restaurant option for dinner, though. The tide comes in when the sun goes down so you'll have to waddle through some shallow water along the route from the lighthouse to the parking lot. It's pretty amazing to see, so also make sure to bring your flashlight, too! We also saw huge, gigantic boats glide right by our room at all hours of the day. They were incredibly close, I felt like I could almost touch them from the window. And listening to the waves crashing down as I fell asleep was truly entrancing. Breakfast was amazing, too. The inn-keeper made us the most delicious French toast, yogurt with fresh organic strawberries and fresh tapped maple syrup with fresh squeezed orange juice. The bathroom was the only feature that I would change. Don't get me wrong, it's very clean and I love the products they use; all natural shampoos, soaps and conditioners, but they use stored rain water for the sink and showers, and don't have a flush toilet... But then again, maybe that's all part of the charm. I loved every minute I spent up here with my best friend.

The rooms have double beds so for the price I paid it was insanely dirt cheap when split with my friend who room shared with me. So based on the price I paid I can't say this place was bad and what my hiking team needed was pretty much a bed and pillow for the night. Snowed Inn provides just that, bed & pillow for a quick rest. Upper levels have rooms with shared bathroom and shower room. They do offer free wifi and the rooms have really bad decor but if you can look past the bad decor and outdated feel of the place it truly does have value for what you pay. So if you are in the area and just need a quick night or two to rest then this place can fit the bill. If you plan on being out in the Catskills for more than 2 days I'd probably find someplace a bit nicer if that's what you need (based on your personal preferences/luxury requirements). Would I stay here again? Absolutely!

Then, again we booked last-minute train tickets back home and gave him just 20 minutes notice. Barry insisted on making us breakfast-to-go and driving us to the train station there even though we had time to walk. In just 5 minutes, Barry made us the most savory yet simple sandwich (which was the topic of conversation for part of the train ride back.) Devon Whittaker, the mixologist, was about to begin a stint at Bard College on a Fulbright Scholarship to study some aspect of the neurosciences. Nutty, creamy, and a bit chocolatey balanced. Our charcuterie came paired with some figs, peppers, and mustard. The trout and corn fritters were amazing. It's like a super airy, crispy seafood hushpuppy. It's kinda tucked away under Standard Fare of the menu, but it is a must order. The lamb shank was also very good. There is no gaminess in the meat. The sauce was a nice balance of sweet and tart from the plum and berries. Service: 5/5 No complaints with service. Our waiter was very accommodating and explain each dish we ordered to us and gave good recommendations. Drinks and food all came out pretty quickly. Ambience: 5/5 The place is called Deer Mountain Inn and that's exactly how it felt. The wooden interior, fireplace, deer head on the wall, chandelier, carpeting really made this feel like an inn.
