This is a very special place for a wedding. My friends were getting married here (Aug, 2013) and I was a bridesmaid. We stayed Thurs-Sat nights here at the B&B and the wedding and reception were both held on property. I am an Event Planner in Los Angeles and I work at a lot of high end properties. Onteora offers a few things that most properties don't.. It's an intimate setting where you are able to rent rooms and therefore have access to the property in the days before your wedding. We ordered in the flowers (I moonlight as a Florist) and I started prepping them at Onteora on Thursday and worked until midnight. We decorated the property and put together flower arrangements on Friday, had our rehearsal on property that night, and woke up in the a.m. on Saturday to begin hair and makeup in the beautiful bridal suite. More important than the proximity, intimacy and beauty of the spaces here is the staff. The Property Manager, Jeremy made us feel so taken care of. They put our flowers in water for us when they arrived, there was always a pot of fresh coffee made upon our request, and they even went above and beyond to help with putting out favors and hundreds of floral containers on the morning of the wedding. Wow!! The ceremony itself was flawless, orchestrated by Jeremy and staff. Our wedding party was ushered by golf cart down to the ceremony at just the right time, music had been cued, and I as a seasoned wedding professional didn't have to blink an eye. Both the night before the wedding, and the night of the wedding (afterwards) our group of 12-14 stayed up late in the house, downstairs in the "man den" and outside by the fire pit. Jeremy even made a fire for us in the house living room. There was someone onsite 24/7 the entire time I was at Onteora, what a luxury. The morning after the wedding our breakfast was made for everyone at 10:30 as we knew that we would be tired from festivities the night before. The staff at Onteora even helped us to clean up at the end. No, this is not an inexpensive property to have a wedding. But if you can afford it and want a charming "rustic" outdoor setting for your wedding weekend, while still having all the luxuries and amenities possible, then you just may have found a little piece of heaven here at Onteora. Thank you to the staff for making it such a memorable weekend for us, and for making my time as a busy bridesmaid so easy. I cannot thank you enough.

This place is AMAZING! If you're looking for beautiful views, lodge style ballrooms and a private oasis, this place is for you. The perfect back drop to any photo, you will not be disappointed by this majestic venue.

This is the first time we've stayed under the new ownership with Jennifer & Maureen as hosts. They've done a great job at updating the lodge while maintaining its classic vibe. Noteworthy is the efforts they've taken refreshing and coordinating the exterior paint colors and garden furniture. A discerning eye will note the efforts to maintain a thematic exterior color coordination across all the units. The grounds are well maintained with a vast array of natural plantings, specimen trees, indiginous plants, which if you are a garden buff, you'll really appreciate the variety, quality and passion that went into these wonderful presentations. The rooms are simple, clean, with a vintage vibe authentic to a Catskills cottage experience. There is a large communal yard with a fire pit, volleyball net, hammocks and seating as well as several new Weber grills and picnic tables. Easy to congregate or just hangout by your cottage or on your porch. The Esopus Creek is a short walk across the property on the other side of the street. Best is the continental breakfast!!!! Fresh baked goodies, fruits, yogurts, coffees, bagels and various snacks. Grab a morning tray and sit out back as the morning greets you, you are transported to a natural relaxing environment. This stay was a great experience, they've really upped the game here while maintaining an authentic feeling of being in your own mountain cottage. A vibe that is so often lost, when classic resorts move to a "hip" or "trendy" update. Thanks to our wonderful and welcoming hosts, our stay was really a delight and we feel we've made new friends. Thank you!

Foxfire Mountain House was exactly that for us. We gathered for a winter celebration among our closest friends, holding our special event in the charming antique greenhouse. Decorated with winter greens and soft white string lights, it carried a quiet charm that made everything feel thoughtful and full of meaning. Staying in the Cottage gave us space to unwind with the kind of privacy and warmth that made everything feel personal and intentional. The rooms were spacious, the fireplace inviting, and the pace of the weekend calm and restorative. Foxfire has a way of slowing time, gently inviting you to be present with the people who matter most.

The main floor of the house features its resturant along with a sitting room with a large fire place. The sitting room is perfect to read a book or play a board game while you have some complimentary tea and coffee. As for the rooms it's an old house so everything is very loud.. all the time...even at night. I get that it's an old house but some form of noise barrier would be nice. In the middle of the night you can hear ppl in the hallway or in the room next to you, doing...well I'll just leave it as loud adult activities lol... The beds are also not very comfortable. As for the food the breakfast is fire. All freshly made food with some nice options. Dinner was a little disappointing unfortunately, flavors just weren't there for multiple dishes. Overall a decent place but questionable if it's worth the price.

We walked down the street and stumbled upon this cute little lodge that had a sign that read outdoor patio / dining . We asked the nice gentleman Peter if it would be okay, and since there was no one sitting outside he was happy to have us. We ordered an old fashion & a Cosmo- cocktails were okay so we switched to red wine and beer with dinner , I would recommend sticking to a simple drink! The dinner was DELICIOUS! I ordered the potato dumplings -5 stars & the branzino, which I added just a little more lemon too. My boyfriend for the steak, he thought it was okay, could have used more flavor. We met another couple who also had a puppy, that sat with us outside ... they ordered the crab cake appetizer and the duck entree - both were VERY good! For dessert we shared the chocolate cake with ice cream and the oatmeal pistachio rhubarb which were both amazing ... Peter was an amazing host. When it started to rain, he was happy to allow us to sit inside with our pup. Very cute & quaint spot!

We didn't use all the perks that come with a stay, (the pool The Kaleidoscope show, the restaurant or any paid spa services). We did their hot steam sauna, which was as it should be. The sauna entrance is an antique- just lovely. One can make a cup of tea/coffee in the lobby there. Our suite had complimentary slippers, which I wore the whole time I was there, three TVs, which we didn't use, a fridge as well as a little coffee station. The spa had lockers and long bathrobes available. We walked outside quite aways to get to the spa from our suite. But I have a feeling if we'd been unable or asked ahead they would have picked us up with a golf cart. As it is, we rode the loaner bikes they had outside of the lobby on our way back. Note adjust the seat to be higher or lower- it's easy. Our suite was very spacious and part of the Old Lodge. There's a nice creek flowing out back and we sat on our little balcony while we had coffee. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the relative privacy. Yes the rugs and the countertops/shower/tubs should be upgraded. (I think there's a newer section of the Emerson so ask). As it stands we were pretty happy with our stay. We had family in other rooms and paid about $500/night for ours.
