Very spacious room
Ajali V.

I do a lot of staycations and I have had this place on my list of new places to stay. I was very pleased with my short and sweet vacay. This hotel doesn't offer many amenities (no pool, gym, restaurants on property) but I think their customer service, close proximity to the beach (across the street) and spacious rooms make up for that. I was greeted upon arrival and given pineapple juice, a fresh flower and a hand towel to freshen up. It was such a sweet gesture that many places don't do, so I was very surprised- in the best way! When I had to sign some paperwork for the stay, I LOVED the pen and told the man at the front desk how great it was. He said he had heard that three times that day and there would be one waiting for me in my room too, best day ever? I think so. I love a good pen. When I walked through the lobby to get to my room, there was complimentary water available, as well as signage showing free coffee in the mornings. The room was just as pictured on the website, I didn't have a balcony or patio and my room was sort of low (maybe 5th floor?) so it got a bit noisy but not unbearable. The bed was super cozy, all of the lights worked, the bathroom had a shower and tub and everything was very clean. I would definitely stay here again even though I do love all the amenities being available at other hotels. They have parking too, but valet only. Dog friendly and they offer beach gear and have a water station.

I stayed at Hotel Renew for Hawaii International Film Festival & Pride Weekend: it was a great stay ! Hotel Renew staff are awesome. Anne and the whole team had some of the best customer service I've ever received. Seriously great customer service ! I've worked in high end resorts, and Hotel Renew gave us a top notch experience that I didn't expect at such an affordable hotel less than a block from Waikiki Beach. We could walk to almost everything: beach, restaurants, bars, park, food trucks, shopping, etc. The hotel is very well decorated: nicer than more expensive places I've stayed and worked ! Clean, well lit, accessible, and convenient. Senior and Kama'āina discount rates too ! Some small amenities weren't available, but overall Hotel Renew was/is terrific. I highly recommend it. It's a real gem in Waikiki for many reasons. I will plan more O'ahu trips now that I know about Hotel Renew.

Window

Dirty room, very humid & muggy air ventilation. The car valet was extremely expensive - $55 per night. The window in the restroom was also hard to open or close and you could hear everything from outside. Very noisy.

they set up the room for our anniversary with the wine bottle my partner bought!

Went here with my partner for our anniversary. There isn't any self parking so if you bring a car you'll have to valet your car. But kama'aina get a discount on parking I believe. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We kept accidentally de-magnetizing the hotel card since it was near our iphone but the staff was very understanding and patient. We had the room on the 9th floor facing the ocean. The view was breathtaking, especially around sunset. My partner was able to deliver them a wine bottle a couple days before so they could set up the room. They left us a note and a complimentary bottle of wine as well. The hotel itself is kinda narrow and not a lot of rooms, which is good because the foot traffic is relatively low. The hotel is really close to the beach, near walls. Which is a great thing if you have children because walls doesn't have any waves and is shallow (around 2-3 ft low tide on the deeper end). The hotel offers beach towels as well. You don't have to ask the staff, it's off to the side. We were able to walk around waikiki, about 15 minutes to get to international marketplace. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. I hardly do staycations and I am so glad this experience was unforgettable. I'm sure I will be back here!

Overall it was a good experience. Pros: the location is amazing, it is one block from the main stretch of beach in Waikiki, close to everything you could want. We had a rental car but never needed it for this part of our trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful with everything. We enjoyed having beach equipment and towels available to use and take with us. Plus the water at the front was nice and refreshing after a long day at the beach. Cons: the room was very small it didn't bother us to much because we were only there for two nights and not in the room much but if you're looking for a bigger space this would be tough. It is not the nicest or newest hotel, it could definitely use some upgrades but for the price it was not bad. We were facing the alley on the side of the hotel and it was very loud all through the night. I understand you are in a big city but you could tell the insulation wasn't the best. We parked a car with valet for our two nights and never took it back out but when we got the car back there was a scratch on the bumper. It was a pretty big scratch and it was a rental car so now we're having to deal with that. Overall if you're looking for a place to rest your head that's close to everything and won't cost an arm and a leg this one's for you. If you're looking for a nicer resort style hotel I would keep looking.

Nice boutique hotel near the ocean. The staff was very friendly and embodied the aloha spirit. I realized that I prefer boutique hotels as (less) guests interact with the staff which can make for a better stay. Hotel Renew is not the tallest hotel in the area but it's a block from the beach. Unlike the taller hotels nearby, Hotel Renew rooms do not have any balconies but just go outside and enjoy Hawaii = ). Besides the beach, if you are okay walking, you can walk to the International Marketplace, Royal Hawaiian Center, Honolulu Zoo and even the Diamond Head trail. The Ala Moana Mall is a bit too far to walk to IMO. Rooms are clean and to nit-pick a bit, the shower head could use more cleaning as you can see the hard water mineral deposits but the shower water pressure is fine as well as hot water availability. Pro-tip: The hotel has a water fountain downstairs that the staff can use to refill water bottles (with chilled water) so bring a reusable water bottle to save the planet and on buying bottled water.

What a nice greeting when you enter your room.

What an amazing team. This cutie boutique hotel embraces the true meaning of aloha spirit. They don't just advertise it, they display it in every team member we encountered. Just all around a great stay! Thank you Hotel Renew. We will definitely be back.

Air conditioning is so loud and the vents are disgusting.

This place is a dump! Do not stay here. Rooms looked dirty upon check in. I had to make 4 calls to get the trash taken out and new towels. The only good thing about this place is the location. But it's the last time I stay here.

Free morning coffee served from 6am-10am. Self service. Perfect way to start the day.

We are a family of 4 and love to visit Honolulu at least once a year. This hotel may not suit the needs of everyone, but was perfect for our needs. We don't need a fancy room or fancy restaurants. We just want a place to rest up, some place close to the beaches of Waikiki, and a place to freshen up for the day. This hotel fits the bill for those purposes and for a much better value than the big name hotels half a block closer to the beach. The location is right next door to the Aston, but it is not right on the beach. It IS a quick walk to the beach, less than 3 minutes. It is located closer to the Honolulu Zoo side of Waikiki which is the beach we like best for the kids because there is a choice of catching waves or shallow calm waters with the breakwater. The staff in the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is not happening every day as with Covid precautions (true for most hotels nowadays). However, it was super easy to get more linens and cleaning when necessary. Parking is nearly half the price compared to other hotels...$35/day. Even though most things are in walking distance to any Waikiki destination, we like to have a rental car so we can explore other parts of the island. This hotel is easily accessible to freeway access and other parts of Honolulu. I love that they allow guests to have free beach towels, sand toys, and beach gear. That saves you a ton of money compared to renting any of those out on the beach. Such a great service that comes with your stay. There are rooms in the hotel with beach views, but we chose the city view room. There was no balcony to the outside, which was only an issue because we didn't have any place to dry out our beach towels, but not a deal breaker. The rooms are small, but no different than any other basic hotel room here. The hotel has been recently renovated to have some modern touches, but do not expect anything fancy inside the rooms. Everything is pretty basic and furniture is a bit worn. The reason they lose a star was because I was disappointed that the bathroom did not have a vented fan. It is very humid here and the bathroom was filled with condensation after anybody showered. You can see signs of mold like other reviews have pictured in the bathroom and the lack of a fan is most likely the reason. I would have liked to have a few more towel hooks to hang our towels. The bathroom really is only suited for a party of 2, not 4 like we are paying for. Once again, this place is not for every tourist, but it's perfect for what we look for when staying in Waikiki. Definitely a good value compared to a lot of the other big name hotels next door. I would rather save $100 per night and use that for a nice meal or shopping if it means dealing with a place that's a little less fancy but in the perfect location. After all, when you're in Hawaii, you would rather spend your time outside the hotel, not inside it!

Wonderful place to stay. The staff is top notch. Visited Waikiki several time and will stay here again. Rooms are very clean, views are great and prices are reasonable

Bev P.

I stayed here on my last night in Hawaii before my flight & I wish I had stayed here in the other nights I was in Hawaii! The price was reasonable, staff were great, room was nice and clean, and location was good. My room view was of the parking next door but that didn't bother me as much. I parked in the banyan lot for $35 for the night and was able to walk over here. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Hawaii!

cheap hotel which lures you in with a low nightly rate then charges additional fees And deposit. the Waikiki view room is a dirty ally view. Don't stay here.

WORDS TO DESCRIBE Halepuna Hotel: Modern, clean, safe, economically and environmentally friendly (bamboo room cards, water dispensers for your reusable water bottles), bright, airy, quality service in hospitality and room service LOCATION I loved staying at the Halepuna Hotel. It was centrally located at the beach walk, so ABC Store, shops, restaurants, and the beach were all within walking distance. *It was difficult finding the location of the hotel, when we first arrived. There was no big sign that you can spot, while you're driving, so my landmarks I always looked for were the ABC Store and Denny's. STAFF/SERVICE: Everyone that we came across during our stay was very friendly, generous, kind, and attentive. A shoutout to the Valet Service crew, especially RJ. He gave us recommendations for where to go. He always made us smile and laugh with his jokes. Thank you Uncle! AMENITIES: ROOMS Our room was equipped with charge stations-usb and usb c compatible plugs, ironing board/iron, mini fridge, ice bucket, tea kettle, and coffee maker. BATHROOM Well stocked with towels, a drying cord, blow dryer, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I appreciated that instead of your standard toilet, the hotel had bidets! *Great water pressure for showering. The tub was also spacious, if you wanted to take a bubble bath. 8TH FLOOR GYM-Equipped with a lot of machines Water dispenser Additional restrooms/shower room LAUNDRY ROOM is open 24/7 There are 3 washers and 4 dryers You can pay using your credit card or download the WASH CONNECT app *Friendly suggestions: -As a guest, bring your own laundry soap/dryer sheets--or go to the ABC Store if you forget your laundry supplies -Make sure to clean the lint trap before you put your clothes in -Put a timer on your phone to check on your clothes GARDEN -Serene, tranquil, peaceful, spacious -------- Friendly Suggestions for Halepuna Hotel -Have a big sign stationed outside the hotel, perhaps elevate the height of the sign and add lights to it, so it's easy to spot for first time visitors ------- All in all I enjoyed staying at the Halepuna Hotel. Staff here from valet, pool staff, housekeeping, bell desk, hotel check in, and even landscaping are well trained and operating on a higher than 90% of hotels out there. This level of service continued from our first to last day folks. Wendy our housekeeper was awesome and remember to tip appropriately! I want to talk about a common complaint I see in the reviews. Cost. I hate to slap you in the face with this but prices aren't what they used to be. Yes, this is a very expensive property. For us, it was worth the splurge that maybe will only be done every 5 years, but there's a reason for the high price. This hotel is roughly 2,500 miles away from the continental US and in my opinion one of the best ocean front properties in the world and you have to pay for that. If you are going to complain about cost then please stay home. Everything on an island that isn't naturally there has to be shipped there. So cost is obviously higher. I was last in Waikiki in 1995 as a child. I remember it then and seeing it again now was amazing. The food, city, and the ability to rent a car and leave the city in a flash is something unique in this paradise. The Sheraton adults only pool and the views that the ocean side hotel rooms provide are unparalleled. The kids pool is also above and beyond for the under 16-year-old age group. God speed Sheraton Waikīkī, I will return.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and while many aspects were excellent--like the fantastic service,…read moredelicious food at the restaurant, and a beautiful pool area .( 5 star ) No water at the room and store is not open 24 hour , if you come back hotel late night you have to go to the room take a bottle and come back outside fill the bottle. we had a very disappointing experience with the restaurant staff. They refused to serve us food at the pool, saying it was "dinner time" even though it was just 5 p.m. When we went inside and asked to be seated at the restaurant- they refused again, saying we didn't meet the dress code--even though it was still early evening. This was the only restaurant/dining option at the hotel, I have to take a shower change and and then I can eat something at the hotel .. where I The worst part was the extremely rude behavior from both the restaurant manager, Cassidy and another staff member, John. I told then if I change I can go outside of the hotel with lots of options and the guy (John say 2 time back to back we don't need you to come back hear , Both had an incredibly rude tone and displayed a lack of respect that should never be seen in customer service, especially from managers. After this, we left, and we couldn't enjoy the beach or pool for the rest of the day. Essentially, our entire day was ruined. A hotel should offer at least one casual dining option for guests, or they can have a section at same restaurant at least till same time as pool are open this was a huge disappointment. (0 star ) Hotel guests should be allowed to have food and beverages at anytime.
