Unfortunately, for the past two years, our experiences have declined significantly. The hotel no longer maintains the level of service and standards we once loved. The atmosphere feels different, the staff are not as welcoming, and there is a noticeable lack of attentiveness and care. During this stay, we had a particularly unpleasant two-day experience at the beach regarding the setup of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Rather than going into every detail, I will simply say the situation was handled poorly and left us very disappointed. What was most upsetting was that no meaningful effort was made to resolve the issue or make up for the inconvenience. Even after speaking with Guest Relations, who mentioned contacting the General Manager, nothing improved the following day. No accommodation or gesture was offered, which was surprising given the hotel's luxury positioning. It is also noticeable that the property feels quite empty during weekdays, except on special occasions or long weekends. Even then, the warmth and hospitality we once associated with this hotel seem to be missing. That said, I want to sincerely recognize Valenzo, who served us daily. He was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. We never had to ask for anything, he would notice small details, like refilling ice before we even realized it was melting. His service was outstanding and he truly tried to make our stay better. Thank you, Valenzo. You made a difference. It is genuinely sad to see a place that once meant so much to us lose its standard. We hope management takes guest feedback seriously and invests in retraining staff to restore the level of service this property was once known for.

The Excellence Club experience is absolutely worth it and made our vacation feel even more special. What keeps us coming back to Excellence Riviera Cancun isn't just the beautiful resort, comfortable rooms, or incredible food, it's the people. The staff genuinely treats you like family and makes you feel cared for from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. We made it to every restaurant during our stay, and the dining exceeded our expectations. Magna's tomahawk steak was phenomenal, but Basmati completely stole our hearts. It was hands down our favorite restaurant, and the food was a 15/10. We were talking about going back before we had even finished our meal. The service is what truly sets this resort apart. Amable went above and beyond every single day. She quickly learned who we were, remembered what we liked, and always took the time to chat with us and make us feel special. By the end of the trip, she felt like family. Saying goodbye was incredibly emotional. She gave me the biggest hug before we left and told us she couldn't wait to see us again in January. She truly made our vacation unforgettable. Joel was another standout. We bonded over our love of reading, but what impressed us most was the care he put into making each day special. Every morning, our daybed was perfectly prepared before we even arrived, with towels laid out and everything ready for us to relax. He remembered that we were celebrating our anniversary, and he and Raul surprised us with the sweetest towel art in our room to celebrate. After noticing how much I loved fresh coconuts, Joel started bringing one to me every afternoon without me even asking. It's those thoughtful little touches that turn a great vacation into an unforgettable one. Excellence Riviera Cancun continues to set the standard for what an all-inclusive resort should be. Between the exceptional staff, delicious food, beautiful accommodations, and the added benefits of Excellence Club, it's become our favorite place to vacation. The biggest compliment we can give is that we were already planning our next trip before this one ended. We'll be back in January, and I'm sure many more times after that. Thank you to everyone at ERC for another unforgettable stay. We already can't wait to come home.

Adults only, couples only, all-inclusive resort - that's a big yes! We hadn't been to a resort in a long time and were very stoked for our visit in August 2025. As is the standard for the Excellence brand of resorts - the staff greeted us warmly and professionally. Instantly, our needs were taken care of - the room wasn't ready, but we were provided with an opportunity to change and immediately take advantage of our stay. The size of the resort initially threw us off - it is much smaller than your typical resort, but it also caters to a smaller crowd for (their words) "a boutique experience." It seemed dead until we got close to the beach area and the swim-up bar. This is where the people hang out. Dinner at El Mar our first night was amazing - excellent seafood (check out the pics) and service. We ate twice each at Lupita Steakhouse and La Isla. Unfortunately, the hotel kept changing the schedule of which restaurant would be open what night. This threw off our dinner plans more than once, and we spent more time at La Isla (with the least exciting menu) getting eaten by mosquitoes than we cared for. During our stay, the beach snacks menu also changed. It went from a delicious two-page menu to a sad one-pager; gross nachos and hot dogs, anyone? Online, people went on full-on rants about this. It turns out the menus across all the Excellence resorts are being stream-lined to the new executive chef's "vision." Some people, from what I read online, are now considering cancelling their reservations, not wanting to fly all the way here for waffles and burgers. On top of the rebranding, the hotel is also undergoing renovations to bring it up to modern times. We thought our room was beautiful, but it was a tad outdated. For customer service, though - the Excellence brand will not settle for less than, well, excellence. All of our interactions with staff at all levels was top-notch. Because of the vibe here - we didn't talk to anyone but hotel staff for four whole days. Staff shout-outs: Denise, Luis, Fernando and Fabiola at the beach; Octavio and Bernice at the spa; Andrea, Aina, and Alexander at guest services; Pasquale, Alex, and Elvis at pool side; Cirilo and Vanya at El Mar, Brenda at La Isla, and Alberto and Barbra at Lupita. You wouldn't think it is a resort looking at it from the outside. Okay well I was still wing a little optimistic about the place. We arrived and it is is all open. Nothing glamorous about the entrance. There is one check in desk with one person. The wait was long to get checked in and to our room. It is old you can tell but for me that's not too important as long as the customer service is on point. We got shown to our room and the room was so refreshing it was cold and clean. The mini bar was all inclusive big plus. We got the room facing the pool. Very nice view the pool is pretty big. Not so new but still nice. Food: It usually is buffet style but that was closed and that sucked!!!! You had to order off a menu and the staff wasn't quite on point with the service only but a few were. In the morning they come to you with a cart full of fruit yogurt oats granola and pan dulce sweet bread. However they don't announce what else they have on the cart. We missed out on homemade juices. Pretty upset by that. We only knew because we saw someone drinking a green cleanse drink and so we asked. The food from the ceviche hut was good it's not heavy just right. But our server had the worst service. Was a little on the flustered side maybe overworked but he also was knowledgeable on the areas around the hotel which he should be. Staff: There a few good nice ones and the other few just plain rude. The hotel lacked a lot of supplies and food. No ingredients for mojitos, no straws, no plastic cups, or other things that a hotel should carry. They close all the bars and restaurants at 7! Really what is that. However the room service staff was great they went above and beyond. We complained and the only thing to make us feel better they put flowers on the floors maybe on our anniversary or honeymoon. But that was not good enough. I would not return to this place again nor will I recommend it to friends. This is more for older couples who want no noise or a party seen. You can see pink flamingos, whale sharks, brown pelicans and frigate birds and it's not overrun by tourists. I'd hate to see that change, but thanks to the NYT, it probably will. CasaSandra is a special place put together with a gypsy sensibility, full of little artful details that make a stay unique. Its a rustic place, not an all inclusive resort, so prepare for that, but staying here is a special experience. We would love to return. We arrived at night, and as we drove up in our golf cart taxi (the only transport allowed on the island) this small hotel was lit up with gorgeous string lights, live music and a Cuban dinner (the owner Sandra hails from Cuba.) At night, this place glows. The island is reachable only by local ferry, and will require some planes, trains and automobiles to get here, but the hotel will arrange transport, for a price, if you want that. The rooms are simple, have no televisions and the wifi is a joke existing (barely) only in the beautiful main lobby. Prepare to unplug, or to be frustrated trying to connect. The rooms at CasaSandra are rustic and artful and feature local textiles, colorful tiled sinks, mosquito netting over the bed, thoughtful local snacks, and a personal, in-room Nespresso machine. The lobby and restaurant area, and the outdoor pool and especially the beach with palm frond topped cabanas are beautiful. There is a good masseuse on staff, to kick off your relax-ment! We had an excellent service experience in the restaurant and hotel and would come back and stay again. Its a small lovely spot and people knew our names and family after several days. The only hiccups were with communication at the start of the visit, and a forgotten booking for a fishing trip, that was remedied the following day. Also, the small hotel next door is in the middle of construction, which normally you'd like to be told of ahead of time. The meals were enjoyable and beautifully presented, but could be pricey compared with other food on Holbox. We have been to the Yucatan five times and CasaSandra is a special place in the world. Simple, artful, and thoughtful.

Don't let this change your mind to sit outside, the hotel is right on the water and I'm guessing the sunset over dinner can be very romantic. After a short wait our drinks arrived and my girl and I settled on the specials. For her the sword fish and for yours truly the Filet Mignon. The ambience of the restaurant was definitely calm and relaxed, especially since your sitting to the right of the main entrance of the hotel. I think we might have seen 4-5 people walk in and out the entire time we were there. Also I think the hotel guests can see we were having a date night. After a few sips of a Mezcal Tonic and my yummy beer our food arrived. Her sword fish was absolutely amazing with this very flavorful sauce drizzled on and around with small mounds of onions as a compliment. My steak was cooked perfectly. So well that I was reluctant to share.....but of course when your in love...Tiny potatoes and sliced onions were really a nice touch to accompany my Filet Mignon. So all told with a tip (20%) $98. We were warned before we went that this was on the higher side of dining when it comes to price, but we still wanted to try it. I'll start with the positives because there were definitely some. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. The scenery is breathtaking and picture-perfect, making it one of the most visually stunning resorts we've visited. Unfortunately, that's where our excellent experience largely ended. One of the biggest issues appears to be that the resort's reservations and booking process is not managed on-site, (we were advised it was managed in Mexico) which created several unnecessary problems throughout our stay. Before arrival, we even received an email confirming our room that addressed us by someone else's last name. Upon check-in, we were informed our room would not be ready and were given "Black Card" status as compensation, which was explained as including special upgrades and benefits. However, during our stay we learned that many of those benefits were either unavailable or could not be redeemed, and several staff members didn't seem to understand what the Black Card actually included. When we finally got to our room, there was no hot water in the shower. Thankfully, after contacting the front desk, maintenance responded promptly and resolved the issue. Service throughout the resort was inconsistent. While there were a few employees who truly stood out and deserve recognition, the overall restaurant service fell well below what I expect from a luxury, adults-only all-inclusive resort. I especially want to recognize: * Antoinette, the hostess at Caribbean Grove, who was warm and welcoming. * Deonique, who provided excellent beach service. * Latifah, who took great care of us at the pool. Their professionalism and kindness were highlights of our trip. We also dined at Spice after making reservations. We met some wonderful people there, and Chef OJ was entertaining and made the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, the table service again was slow and underwhelming. Our biggest frustration came at the end of our stay. The evening before checkout, we asked about extending our reservation and were told we had to wait until business hours because the resort could not process reservation changes on-site. The following morning, we went to the front desk near checkout after waiting for our anniversary breakfast room service--which arrived about 30 minutes late and came with its own service issues. The front desk staff tried to help but explained they had to contact another department for approval. We waited another 30 minutes without receiving an answer. I then tried calling and using the online chat myself, only to be placed on hold and eventually disconnected. Throughout our stay, the guest services phone line was nearly impossible to reach--it remained busy for two consecutive days. While the front desk staff were courteous and did everything they could, they simply didn't have the authority to resolve many issues because decisions were handled elsewhere. Overall, Excellence Oyster Bay has an incredible location and beautiful grounds, but the operational and service issues prevented it from feeling like the luxury experience we expected for our anniversary. For a resort carrying the Excellence name and price point, I expected seamless customer service, knowledgeable staff, and better communication between departments. I left wishing the service had matched the beauty of the property.

Sometimes all inclusive hotels can feel gimmicky, like being on a cruise ship or something. This was not that at all. This was a high end experience from start to finish. The hotel service and facilities are impeccable. I was blown away by the care they take to tend to each guest. I was only there for a few days and people took the effort to learn my name and my personal preferences. To start, the room was incredible. I stayed in a suite and it had a juccuzi right inside the room and an ocean view with a hammock. The room also came with a mini bar which was restocked daily (although you could also call and request anything at any time). Every day they had a different schedule of activities for guests with quality entertainment (not tacky acts). They had all all white party with a circus one day which was fun, a foam party, bull riding and more. The food deserves its own review. It exceed my expectations by a lot. They had several food options to choose from, including an Asian restaurant, a Mediterranean restaurant, a mexican restaurant a cafe and a global buffet. The restaurants were all open extended hours until 10 or 10:30 so there were always food options available. The global buffet did different themed dinners every night. Of the restaurants, I liked all but I'd say the Mediterranean was the most high quality. The preparation and taste was on par with any top NYC restaurant. The octopus dish was especially memorable. Second favorite was probably the Mexican restaurant. They have a chef from Oaxaca who makes a great mole. At each restaurant, the managers always made an effort to stop by my table to make sure I had what I needed. The employees genuinely care about serving you and they do it gladly. Sometimes you go to places where the employees are disgruntled or have a bad attitude. Not the case here at all. Everyone seemed generally happy and in a good mood. It felt like most of the people here were celebrating something, whether a bachelorette party or birthday, but it didn't feel overall raucous or anything. They had a silent disco one night and I think that also helped with any potential late night noise issues. I was really impressed with how well curated the schedule of activities was. Additionally, the hotel was very clean. When I first got in, people were mopping. They're constantly changing pool towels that are left out. Everything was spotless. The sheets were crisp and white.
