Entry door to room. June, 2025.

YWCA Hotel, Vancouver, BC. June, 2025. Our Alaskan cruise was returning early on a Sunday, but our return flight to the US wasn't until Monday night at 11 pm -- so my husband and I needed a place to stay in Vancouver for one night. Hotels in Vancouver are crazy expensive. Even hotels with low quality ratings and those far from downtown had nightly rates far in excess of US$200, plus taxes. We found that the YWCA Hotel, about a mile from the cruise terminal, had availability for the night that we needed. They have 220 rooms on 12 floors. We booked a private double room with a SHARED BATHROOM. The room with shower and toilet was shared with one other room. There was a good mechanism to ensure that the locks to the two rooms locked while the bathroom was in use. We paid the equivalent of US$216 and some change for the room, after taxes. There was much to like about the hotel. *the hotel is a social enterprise wherein all proceeds go directly to support social services such as housing, a community kitchen, and youth programs. *There are numerous communal areas that we didn't use, including guest kitchens, lounge areas, a fitness zone, laundry, and a rooftop patio. *it has accessibility features including a ramp into the front lobby and elevators. *Free Nespresso coffee and tea bags are available in the lobby during certain hours. *there is complimentary luggage storage before/after guests' stays. *the hotel is in a safe and walkable neighborhood, close to the BC Place Stadium and shopping/restaurants. *the hotel has security measures in place, including the need to use a keycard for elevator use and front door access at night. *limited parking is available for a fee; public transportation is also nearby. *check-in was easy, and we were allowed to access our room before the check-in time. We also were allowed to stay one hour beyond the check-out time. *staff were friendly. *our room was basic and clean, and met all of our needs. It had a double bed with firm mattress, air conditioning, vanity with sink, hair dryer, mini-fridge, LCD TV, work desk, and free WiFI. There were many windows so it was light and bright. However, *as mentioned, Vancouver is a very expensive city for hotels. At the price point that we paid, we would have gotten a much nicer room in other international cities -- most likely with private bath and potentially with breakfast (which was not provided by the YMCA). *Sharing of the bathroom was okay, but not ideal. We shared with two noisy women who left some of their personal belongings (clothes) in the shared bathroom. (The lock mechanisms did work well). Finally, a few practical notes. *you can reserve your room directly on the hotel's website, which offers discounts for seniors (60+) or Y members. *men are welcome to stay. *you do not need to be a member of the YWCA or YMCA to stay. *no dorm-style rooms are available. *no pets are allowed.

I elected to stay at the YWCA hotel on a recent trip to Vancouver. The hotel is centrally located and it's an easy walk to Canada Place and the stadium. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. I booked a room with a private bathroom but some have shared. The hotel is located in a safe area and requires guests to use key cards to enter the lobby at night and in the elevator. The hotel provides complimentary Nespresso coffee in the lobby!

I stayed at the YWCA during my recent trip to Vancouver, BC. The front desk workers here are nice and helpful with any questions we had. The location is pretty good. It's a couple blocks away from Chinatown, the Vancouver library and Robson street where all the high end shopping stores like Burberry and Michael Kors is at. It is a little far from the airport though. You are looking at a $25 fee for taxi from here to the airport. The hotel itself is adjacent to a little coffee shop that offers coffee and pastries. One of the nice things that I liked about this hotel is in order to go up the elevator to the rooms, guests have to swipe their room key. This made feel safe because it ensures only hotel guests can go up the hotel. The overall hotel reminds of a dorm. We were in a room with three twin beds and a small bathroom. The sink and mirror were in between the main room and the little bathroom. Overall the room was clean but the bathroom itself could of used air fresherner, it had the dorm like/moth like smell. As for the view from the window, there wasn't much to see. I looked out and saw a beautiful view of a parking structure hehe YWCA is ok but nothing too special. The best thing is the low fee for the wi-fi. It was $3 wi-fi for three devices for 24 hours!

From the moment we pulled up to the valet through every interaction with room service and housekeeping, the team made us feel like royalty -- attentive without ever being intrusive, polished without feeling rehearsed. Everything here feels modern, clean, and luxurious. Our room was beautiful, especially the bathroom with its dual sinks, separate bathtub and rain shower, and separate area for toilet. The Le Labo products were a nice touch, and everything from the towels, robes, slippers, and bedding felt luxe and high end. These beds and pillows were some of the best hotel beds/pillows I've ever slept on. We all slept so well! We also ordered room service for breakfast and everything was so good, with reasonable room service prices for the amount you get. Didn't use the gym, but it's recently renovated and beautiful. They provide iced water infused with electrolytes and there are even Pilates machines! There's also a heated rooftop outdoor pool that we didn't have time to take advantage of too. Not only is this hotel amazing, but it's in a prime location to everything - especially if you're a first time visitor to Vancouver. It's super easy to hop on the shuttle to the suspension bridge, or take a sea boat or hop on the subway to/from the airport. It's also walking distance to Gastown, Robson Street, Stanley Park and the Seawall. Highly recommend this hotel if you're in the city!

A one-bedroom signature suite at L'Hermitage was significantly less than a regular room at the Pan Pacific and the Rosewood so I booked 3 nights ($625CAD/night). I got off the Silver Moon at 9:45am, handed my luggage off to a representative from Luggage Forward, and walked from the cruise terminal up to the hotel. My room wasn't ready, so I dropped off my carry-on and backpack and went shopping and to have lunch. I was still on my way to CF Pacific Centre when the front desk called, informing me my room was ready. I told them I'd return after lunch. Wow, I loved my room (707)! As you entered through a short hallway, you found yourself looking at a full kitchen to your right, bathroom to your left and then the bedroom, past a closet housing a stack washer/dryer. The living room was bright and airy because there were walls of glass. Past the kitchen was a den with a desk and sofa. Off the living room was a small lanai overlooking the pool. The kitchen featured a gas range, full-sized refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. It was like a timeshare unit, not a hotel room, as there was tableware, glassware, etc. The only nitpick was the bathroom; it didn't quite measure up to the rest of the unit. It was small, with a full-sized glass-enclosed tub, a Toto (but without the washlet) toilet, and a small vanity and shelf unit opposite the vanity. It was totally functional, but I wished the tub had a shower wand, not just the rain head. If I could, I'd want this room moved to Hawaii to become my residence. The front desk staff were personable and friendly. The exercise facilities were fine. The L'Orangerie restaurant is located on the 5th floor ... more on that in a separate review. All told, I found the L'Hermitage to be perfect for me and will now be my hotel of choice when in Vancouver.

My favorite amenities--clothing steamer and hot water kettle--were promptly delivered. What's better than tea and wrinkle-free clothes? The room was quiet and afforded me uninterrupted sleep. L'Orangerie, the dining room and lounge on the fifth floor, was a lovely place to take tea and lunch. My dining companion and I had the place nearly to ourselves. On my next visit to Vancouver, I hope I'll be lucky enough to stay at L'Hermitage again.

You could also take a car but unless the weather is bad or you have mobility issues, it is just as easy to walk over to the terminal. We were in before to check in and because of the cruise, rooms were not ready early. But they took our bags and gave us warm, delicious cookies! When we returned later to check in, we received more cookies. (Insert Cookie Monster meme here.) All of the staff we encountered was very friendly, even the security guard on Hastings Street, though he didn't tell us that if we would just walk around the corner to Seymour there is an entrance without stairs that is better for luggage... We didn't bother with the restaurant after seeing the prices, but we can say that the rooms are lovely. Our suite was perfect for three people, with a nice living room area and a separate bedroom though the closet was very small for a room that could potentially accommodate four people. With the exception of a very worn out, past its prime chair, everything in the room from the furniture to the bathroom was in great condition, too.
