There are very few things on the menu that are decent. Basically just the sandwiches/burgers. The rest are pretty poor. The service is very slow and not attentive. My friend who ordered the halibut with risotto, the risotto came out crunchy... luckily they removed it from our bill. Our other friend ordered the rigatoni... also sad to say not a winner. Their food definitely needs work. I can't say this $18 mocktail was also all that delicious... I personally would not come back here again considering how expensive it is to eat here. They need to lower their prices and figure out their dishes a bit. You'll easily spend $100+ dollars and for mediocre food. We enjoyed our weekend stay at Hotel ZaZa in Uptown Dallas. The staff were amazing, friendly, and on top of everything. The bathroom was great, and the shower had the kind of water pressure that makes you want to stay in there longer than you should. The little extras were appreciated, especially the cookies that come out on certain days, and the morning coffee and fruit. The reason I cannot give it five stars is the overall value. The price point sits higher than what you actually get. The room furniture was pretty scratched, the bed sagged in the middle, and we had some maintenance issues on our last morning with the toilet not flushing well and the shower backing up. Nothing trip-ending, but noticeable. read more

Had an even better visit to H. ZaZa than last time. The property is in the arts district of downtown Dallas. While it is a business area with large beautiful buildings and is safer than other parts of downtown, like all major US cities that we travel to frequently for work, homelessness has increased in the area--be careful walking around, especially at night. As for hotel essentials, on the third floor water pressure and temperate were good. The mattress was good and did not hurt our backs. Lighting in the room was brighter than many other contemporary hotels. Some staff were friendlier than others, but all were at least ok. There is a free hotel shuttle that will take you within 3 miles of the hotel--remember to give the driver a small cash tip. On this visit it seemed like the hotel elevators were in need of service. Although the hotel is known for their themed rooms, we prefer the non-themed ones. Last time we were in an Africa themed room and did not like it. This time we were in a non-themed room and it made our stay much better. The standard room was one of the top nicest and most beautiful rooms we have stayed at on a business trip. The room was spacious, well maintained, had high quality decor, and good aesthetics. We would definitely stay in this room again. There was also a private balcony with a sound/storm door. There was a good desk to work at. There is a business center down the hall, free coffee in the morning on each floor, and free snacks in the lobby in the evening. The hotel is near by several upscale restaurants and a strip mall. The strip mall has a gas station and across in another strip mall a Potbelly Sandwich shop, Smash burger, and an upscale possibly private steak house that took over for Morton's that closed. A little further at 2100 McKinney there is the 2100 Deli that is good for a cheap fast breakfast. The hotel has the Dragonfly restaurant off the lobby. It is more of an upscale sit down experience. We had breakfast here on our previous visit and it was nice. The hotel still seems to us more like a business stay place than a family vacation type stay. However, if on another business trip to the area, we would definitely stay here again. read more

I was on a business trip in Dallas and Hotel Zaza was chosen for me to stay at. It was quite a pleasant surprise. It is like a very high class Madonna Inn. It is quite unique. Many of the rooms are themed and the decor is quite unique. The rooms are lavishly decorated, quite comfortable, and super quiet. The service is also excellent. What a unique hotel! I selected what I thought was a basic king bed hotel room and it is actually a mini suite in hotel chains. There is a very large glass topped desk to workin with a good office type chair and good lighting with connectivity ports. The closet is a beautiful piece of furniture- a spacious wardrobe with good wood hangers, padded lingerie hangers, ironing board and iron, luggage holder, two scrumptious bathrobes and two pairs of slippers! I have been living in all of this today! There is a lovely vanity type dresser with an impressive seat to relax. There are two other chairs in the room as well as a large, three seat cushion sofa and round glass coffee table. The mini bar is nicely stocked with all kinds of beverages and there is a snack box in the bar top. There is a full size mirror on the wall across from the bar and there is also a mirror over the bar making for three mirrors in the main area (excludes the bathroom). The artwork in the walls is whimsical and unique. There is a full service spa with wonderful treatments and massages, an on site restaurant with room service and a fitness center! From 6-10 am there is a "butler's pantry" set up in every floor with coffee, tea, hot water and all the add ins, along with apples and Biscoff cookies. Early evening the lobby has complementary wine, lemonade and iced tea, large cookies, trail mix and potato chips. Turndown service includes a vessel of cold water, ice for the ice bucket, a mini moon pie and a fresh pair of slippers.... There is a free black car shuttle to destinations within a 3 mile radius. I have not checked out the pool and other areas yet, so stay tuned! read more

I finally decided to eat a meal here with a birthday guest and every bite was PERFECT! I'm a bit baffled by the good reviews. This is an expensive, low end experience. Our room wasn't ready at check in. Still wasn't ready at 430pm. Not our issue that the previous guests stayed late. No in room coffee, water is $6 in a suite, expensive restaurant that adds "credit card surcharge" to an expensive meal being charged to the room. Hallway pantry would be a nice touch but completely empty. Restaurant is mediocre. The spa however, is exceptional. Overall this Zaza is a low end money grab. Book a spa appointment but stay and eat elsewhere. Update: not great for working either. No outlets near desk. No pens. Your bill will have a SHOCKING amount of additional fees you will not find an other hotels. Clear verdict: low quality money grab. read more

Oh boy, oh boy - we had such a nice stay at Hotel Zaza's Dallas location! What a treat! The (regular - superior king) room was large, comfortably appointed and so sensibly put together that it felt spacious even WITH all the seating (comfy sofa, two chairs, ottoman seat at a makeup desk and swivel desk chair at a roomy regular desk) they managed to pack into it. Just really well set up. All the staff (from the front desk to housekeeping to the servers in Dragonfly to the lady handing out free champagne) was friendly, but the valet guys are SO helpful and SO on-mission to make sure they help you in any possible way they can. What a friendly, welcoming bunch of men - I've never stayed anywhere that had a better bunch. While several different gents shuttled us around in the (gratis) hotel shuttles and gave us directions and recommendations (the valet staff are almost like concierges, frankly, on top of their other roles), Danny was a hero for us again and again, helping with so many different things. The hotel is quiet (except for that tap-dancing elephant that was in the room upstairs last night) and well insulated (street noise and airplane noise is greatly muffled and dies to just nothing in the wee hours) and we slept great in the comfy bed. The shower - my word - what a wonderful shower. Lots of air flowing through the guest room - the bathroom mirror defogs in mere moments after a luxuriously blasting hot shower. Good toiletries (Bigelow). Great coffee/tea stations in the mornings; cookies, Tootsie Roll pops, red hot candies and fruit chews floating around in the afternoons. Oh, and a free wine station (with bubbly!) in the afternoons. Everything I saw is clean and fresh/new looking. Plenty of public areas to sit and visit. Great restaurant/bar on site. Wonderfully walkable location with an embarrassing richness of restaurants, bars and a handy Whole Foods. Why am I telling you this? We want to return and I don't want to have any problem getting a room! Hey, Hotel Zaza (Dallas) provided one of my favorite stays in a few years - and we travel for fun once a month, so it had some real competition. read more

Solid four stars! Very nice clean boutique hotel. Recently stayed here on a business trip and the experience was pleasant. The rates were surprisingly reasonable compared to the Hilton nearby but way nicer. The decor was old school 1920s revival charm. Service was very nice. The room was pretty spacious. There's a mini fridge in the room however it was filled with drinks as part of the minibar. The gum downstairs was nice and newer. They do have a restaurant/lounge/bar downstairs which is very convenient. Valet parking is extra but you can book a room with the parking included which comes at a discount. Overall nice experience. Spent a beautiful afternoon here getting some work done in the lobby before grabbing lunch with a colleague. This hotel is just absolutely beautiful. You feel like you're frozen in time with the decor. It's almost a mix of old Hollywood with a modern twist. I'm not sure how to explain it but we enjoyed our visit. I really enjoyed the ZaZa. Complimentary drinks in the lobby in the evening. No, not just at check in like some other places in the world. Super funky feel to it. Spotless and great service. There are courtesy cars you can hail from the valet that will take you to and pick you up from a three-mile radius. Valet service is generally quick even when manpower is tight. If you are looking at the website and are thinking, "that's a really small pool," then you will be 100% correct. Unless you are into the LA / Vegas, I am more here to be seen than to cool off in the water, then skip packing your bathing suit. Dragonfly, the hotel's restaurant, is actually great for any time of the day, including late night. Speaking of late at night there was a DJ there spinning tunes while getting a meal late after an event in the evening I went to. Late, as in midnight or later... the music was certainly loud enough for everyone to hear and to sometimes get the crowd singing along, but it was also quiet enough to have a casual conversation during a late night meal. That was simple magic no one else seems to get correct. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and quiet. Some have names -- I had to laugh passing the room called "Escape" thinking about what might happen if you don't make it out in time for check out. In addition to the drinks in the lobby there were cookies at one point too plus non-alcoholic refreshments as well. Across the board it feels like a lot of attention is paid to the details which in the end make your stay feel really comfortable. Driving in Dallas, at least for me, can be confusing and just plugging in ZaZa into Waze took me to the back of the hotel. Weird. Going around the block I found the main entrance without issue but ended up plugging in Dragonfly for future returns to the hotel instead of trying to figure out what was wrong with the ZaZa address and Waze. read more

Celebrated my anniversary at Hotel Zara this past weekend and I'm already planning my next visit. The staff was just as exceptional as the decor. From the attentive valet, to the jovial front desk manager , bell hops, everyone! Each hotel employee I passed greeted me. I absolutely adored Tristen who checked us in. He went over and beyond! Helped us moved up our reservation for dinner although online there were no other time slots. He upgraded our room. Simply magnificent! I think every hotel needs a Tristen! Prior to arrival, you will receive a confirmation text to help speed up check-in and make everything as seamless as possible. When I arrived the valet confirmed my name and by the time I walked up to the concierge they were greeting me by name. It's a lovely chic boutique hotel with wonderful aromas filling the air. The beds are comfy and the rooms come equipped with everything you need. Including, complimentary car service. I believe it will take you within a 3-mile radius of the hotel. The pool is super cute, and there is a lovely bar you can enjoy a delicious cocktail. As well, the reasturant on site has lovely menu items. We ordered room service one of the nights and it was quickly delivered to our room. My favorite part is the goodnight wishes they leave you. You have to stay to find out, its the smallest gesture but just so sweet to me. read more

This is a beautiful boutique hotel with unique (perhaps promiscuous?) artwork and decor. I stayed for a few days for a conference, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! My room was spacious with a king size bed and couch. The bathroom had incredible shower pressure (I just wanted to stand there for hours!), and I also was able to use a small LED mirror to apply makeup. I was grateful for the small mirror because the bathroom lighting was a bit dim. The hotel staff was also friendly and accommodating. I got toothpaste and a water bottle from the lobby even though it was way past midnight. The bar service and restaurant was 5/5 too! read more

This is by far the best place to stay, not only in Uptown Dallas, but all of Dallas. We have visited the location many times and still look forward to coming back. From the staff to the amenities, no part will disappoint. The hotel is walking distance of some of the best restaurants in Dallas, literally a two block radius. The staff is very accommodating and will give guest a complementary ride to anywhere they need to get to. We will definitely be back soon! Mission accomplished! I just checked out and I got some well deserved REST! We stayed for two nights. We got a complimentary upgrade to one of the bungalows which is away from the actual hotel, and that was very much appreciated. The bungalows have their own designated parking in the back which means no parking fee. Beautiful building, very secure and QUIET. Walking in and you'll automatically feel relaxed. Perfect lighting, king size comfy looking bed, well stocked kitchenette, nice seating area and a nice restroom. Water pressure is important me, and that shower exceeding my expectations. All the staff we interacted with were super friendly, and attentive. The pool area was very cute. The music could have been a little lower but I'm assuming since there were a bunch young hipsters at that time, the music was a must! Speaking of youngsters, the Hotel is located in a very nice, friendly part of the city, with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Not once did we ever feel uncomfortable walking around the neighborhood. Overall a great experience, and if I'm in town again I will definitely stay at Hotel ZaZa! read more

To me, the price point was great considering everything this hotel has to offer. First and foremost the service is the absolute best. They take great pride in treating their guests well and accommodating us so we don't have to ask for anything just say thank you a ton because it's ready done!!! We got a spacious two bed room with comfy beds, a nice sitting area, and a spacious bathroom. Let me just say the water pressure in the bathroom will wash away all your sins. My sister and Iiterally took showers three times a day. Oh, so hot and steamy. They have an attached restaurant Dragonfly that serves great drinks, a spa, a nice fitness center, and a great pool and jacuzzi area. A real cute situation! The decor is quirky and kitschy, I love it! They offer a vehicle to chauffer you to shops, restaurants, and night life within 3 miles. Your door will be open before you go to exit or enter. The building is cute, the location is great. If you would like to be able to sleep, don't stay here. I checked in last night and it sounded like the person above me was wearing concrete shoes. Fine... a rough night sleep. Tonight... I can literally tell you every song being played in the adjacent room. The concrete guy is still in a room on the 4th floor. I loved our stay at Hotel ZaZa!! From the valet, to the front desk and beyond. Everyone was very nice and the hotel is really unique and chic. We had the Medusa room, which was cool. It was like being in Versace's house lol. The balcony off the room was pretty awesome! You could see the entire pool area (gorgeous) as well as the front of the hotel. Even with being in that location, I never heard a peep from in our room from the people outside at the pool or people arriving at the front. We were treated so kindly, and even gifted a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries! (Thank you!!) I was really impressed with the food from the "Dragon" restaurant as well. We ordered in breakfast and it was delightful! The nightly rates for this boutique hotel are on the higher end, but I'd recommend staying at least 1 night for the experience. 2 stars is my review so far after one night, unfortunately. I have 2 more nights to go, so hopefully, it will get better. The hotel definitely needs a MAJOR UPGRADE and renovation to have 4 or 5 stars and for the prices. Amenities are very dated such as the a/c, decor and furniture and overall essentials provided. My bathroom wall had a stain that can definitely come off, and it is still there. It is still there because my room never got cleaned today. I left in the morning at 945am and returned at 430pm and still no clean room. I did not have my Do Not Disturb sign on because I never even received one in my room. When I called, then everything came at once, even though I had asked for everything to be done when i would be gone again at 545pm! But people kept showing up from housekeeping (about 3 times) while I was trying to get ready. However, that being said , everyone at the hotel has been extremely hospitable and very nice, especially valet and restaurant staff. I truly am hoping tomorrow brings a better stay at the Hotel ZaZa! read more

Dismembered baby dolls, one stuffed in a jar, general creepy feel. Felt like a haunted house or something out of the occult. Some of my other coworkers mentioned that they stepped into their room and found a single lit candle that was seemly randomly placed in the room. Totally not appropriate for a hotel.
