Houndstown is a fantastic place for daycare or boarding. They tempermant test a) the dogs. I left my pup here for 2.5 weeks. She had a fantastic time. We got regular pics. My husband miscalculated the pup's food at drop off. Houndstown alerted us immediately and worked with us on remedying the situation as we were about to board a plane. When my dog wouldn't eat, (she's a light eater), they hand fed her. They truly care about the dogs entrusted to them. My girl is always thrilled to go into Houndstown! read more

Im giving them 4 stars because my dog never actually stayed but I wasn't impressed at all when I went took the tour to book. They seem short staffed and the short tour I got had large barking dogs alone in small pens. The dogs stopped barking as soon as they saw a human. A red flag is when a place won't let you tour their whole facility. Like they said in some of these reviews, it's not for everyone. I couldn't help thinking that some of the dogs are exhausted from barking all day, not from playing. They need more humans. No dogs should be in a pen without a person. I dont need my dog to come home with anxiety. I'm paying more but I found a local place that is more focused on happy dogs than volume of clients. You have to know your dog. Houndstown to me has so much potential for quality care but seems more focused on volume. Maybe I just have higher standards than most. I was unimpressed. I'll pay the extra. Ask for a tour and use your own judgement. read more

I brought my puppy to the Hicksville location for day care. When we got home we noticed he had a cut on his face. Looks like a little bite mark to me. When I called and I spoke to the owner. The owner proceeded to scream at me on the phone when I told her I was concerned that no one noticed the cut on his face. The owner is extremely RUDE and unprofessional. I was only concerned that no one noticed the cut and maybe they can monitor the puppy a little more. She started to brag that they've been in business for 7 years and have many locations. This Doesn't give her the right to yell and brag to me. She clearly doesn't care about the dogs going to this facility. DO NOT bring your dog here! She ended the conversation by saying to me that maybe this place isn't for me when I was only trying to express my concern for a valid reason. read more

I'm surprised there aren't more rave reviews for Hounds Town! After extensive research and trialling of different facilities on Long Island, I decided to bring my 5 month old puppy here regularly. Here's why: -Socialization! Naya gets so much play and exercise with different dogs. I try to bring her in 1-2 times a week for this reason. Don't hesitate to purchase one of their packages - pricing is unbeatable. -The facility is clean and doesn't reek of urine. Naya always comes home clean and smelling good. Parking is never an issue at drop-off and pick-up times. -From the beginning, Hounds Town has been accessible and responsive via text or calls. They really get to know each pup because they spend time with them. I also appreciate that they easily accommodate Naya's meals/mealtime. I'm also glad to see that they thoroughly screen vet records to make sure dogs are vaccinated before starting. Naya was cutting close to her rabies shot due date and they called that out. Love it! This has become the worst place to leave a dog! has to be the worst customer service I have ever been involved with. Left him once for a 1/2 day playdate and spa treatment. I come to get him and he is not clean or nails done. They informed me they could not get my dog into the bath. No call or anything to let me know. Never went to a groomer where they could not wash the dog. The next time they could not find his shots and I sat there for 30 minutes for them to find the paperwork to hear "oh, here they are". Then at pick up he is soaked, they could not dry him. This time I came in around 1:30PM, I was instructed sternly that they are closed between 12-2pm and I would have to leave. My wife attempted to drop him off at 2pm on the dot and was welcomed with a major attitude from the girl with the bull nose ring. She is always so pleasant! (sarcasm) Anyway as Flynn, my dog, went to greet another dog (as dogs do) she (bull nose girl) yanked his collar so hard he was choked and yelped. In short, DONT GO HERE! and as a business owner to another I suggest you fire and clean house over there. We sure as hell wont be back and we belong to many dog groups and plan to tell our experience. Glad we found out before Flynn got hurt. BTW, Flynn is a yellow lab and loves everyone and anything. He is also afraid of his own shadow. This in response to Maria. Nope, not how it went. I have never been there between those hours and honestly I didn't even know you were closed those hours. And wrong again regarding his shots the last visit. Everything was up to date and you guys obviously did not file them correctly. They were found and after a wait Flynn was allowed in. If expired he would not be. this is funny because my dog is the east one and we don't have issues anywhere else. I often wondered why you cant see your dog in the back. It will be you that will need the help when the place closes from your rude staff. read more

I absolutely love and adore that my dog, Tchoupitoulas, has a home away from home. He has boarded with Houndstown Hicksville multiple times and has also gone for regular daycare and for their plethora of themed parties. These themed parties are a fun and interactive way to get some adorable posed pics. These are all inclusive of normal daycare pricing. When I'm out of town, I have peace of mind that he's being taken care of like family. We can't even say the words Houndstown in our house without him racing to the door and waiting to go. New location, same OUT-standing experience. Whenever someone asks for a recommendation for boarding their furry loved ones, I without ANY reservations recommend Hounds Town. I have been boarding our dog for hmmmmmmm, close to 10 years now, and I wouldn't leave him anywhere else and feel as comfortable as I do at HT. As a matter of fact, I probably wouldn't be able to vacation or travel period if Hounds Town didn't exist. I give hounds town 5 stars and I'd give them a 6th if were possible. I love Hounds Town Hicksville. The staff is amazing, friendly, and they all love dogs. The facility is huge! The dogs get to play all day when boarding unlike some other facilities that only let them out for an hour or two a day. They post pictures of the dogs playing almost every day. My dog gets so excited when she goes there. Another great thing about them is that they don't breed discriminate! It is so comforting knowing my dog is in great hands when I'm away. I contacted this dog boarding facility because I heard great things about the Farmingdale location and they got great reviews. The Farmingdale location's luxury suites were booked for the weekend I was interested in boarding my dog so they told me to try Hicksville, which has the same owners. I called both locations and explained my dog's situation - she is a very sweet 13 year old yellow lab, who has some mobility issues due to hip dysplasia and weak back legs. Although she limps, she can get around, is a very happy dog, and loves to socialize with other dogs - I have taken her to dog parks her entire life. I was told to come in for an evaluation. I went in this morning and the first thing the man said to me was "who did you speak with on the phone? We don't usually take old dogs". I was completely horrified. I saw an article on the Farmingdale Houndstown website boasting how they are a "fully equipped and non-discriminating doggie daycare" and took in a dog Scooter, who was in a wheelchair and had been rejected by another daycare facility. They claimed that they "not only opened their doors for the disabled dog, but gave him all the extra love and attention that his disability required". The article further states, "Houndstown will not discriminate against dogs, now or never. If a daycare can't accommodate certain dogs with disabilities, they shouldn't be in the pet industry, period." How ironic that this same facility is discriminating against my senior dog. The man I spoke with this morning went on to tell me they have one dog who has been coming to the facility (I'm assuming Farmingdale because Hicksville just I opened a few months ago) for 7 years and he had to tell the owner she can't bring the dog anymore because the dog was slipping on the floor and going to the bathroom, which was getting all over itself. How about instead of turning dogs away you make a play room with a turf floor to accommodate these dogs' special needs, which you claim to be doing? To be fair, they did not outright reject my dog. They said she can board there if I want and have no other boarding options. That wasn't exactly the warm welcome I was looking for. The reviews of the Farmingdale location rave about the staff, which is apparently the same as the Hicksville location, but based on my interaction today I cannot say the same. read more
