Two star average is correct for this hotel. A few pros: +…read moreReally cozy beds. We were upgraded to a king ocean view which was kind. + Decent pool for the area. + Absolutely incredible bacon egg and cheese in the cafe in the morning. Truly delish - good cold brew as well. + Great location with proximity to the Stone Pony if you're there for a concert and the beach if you're there to enjoy the sand. + Easy parking. No need to valet just park nearby. Some areas for improvement: + Not the cleanest hotel I've been to. Windows to "ocean view" were super teeny and you could more or less not see out of them. + Outrageous policy of not being able to check in early without a fee. Our room was ready and they would not give it to us unless we paid $50. + They will nearly double prices for high volume weekend. What was paid for the hotel was outrageous and far too high for the level of maintenance the hotel needed. This is a fine option for one night only! Quirky hotel in a quirky city.

We stay here several times a year, every year. (And yes, we've tried the other hotels in the area.)…read moreour stay is always enjoyable! The staff and guests are always happy, nice and accommodating. And generally provide upgrades if available. We've gotten countless oceanfront views as a recurring guest. If we turn the AC off for too long, there is a bit of a musty smell but its easy to attribute that to the ocean air and moist atmosphere. Aside from that, the beds are SO comfortable, and the rooms are generally very clean. Recently, fridges have been added to every room which has been very helpful. Other than that the rooms always feel clean and comfortable, and the food at the cafe, restaurant and pool is always amazing! Notably, the lobster roll here is better than any in the area. We are looking forward to our next stay!

Absolutely perfect from check in to check out. Hotel is conveniently located near the beach, but…read morealso near the main street and public transit. The hotel is beautiful and it felt like every single piece of furniture and decorations were chosen intentionally. Perhaps the best part of our stay was the phenomenal, friendly and attentive service from manager Emily. Truly a gem of a person, and made sure everything we needed was available. Would also like to highlight that Emily reached out even before our stay begun to ask if we needed anything upon arrival or had any questions. All requests were met and Emily was prompt to answer all questions. I would highly recommend The James Bradley to anyone thinking of visiting. If you're looking for a quick vacation out of this city, this is the place, so easy to get to, the town has wonderful restaurants/bars and the beach was beautiful (even if it was too cold to hang out). Can't wait to find a reason to return.

I'm all for minimalism but there needs to be functionality behind it. As for breakfast; more gluten free options please! And the soft boiled eggs we chose were either cooked too hard or way undercooked. The yogurt and fruit was delicious! Our server was great.

Quaint and no-frills, but great location, good price, and it gets the job done…read more Check-in is super easy, you can arrive after-hours if you must. It is billed as a B&B, so we sampled the options one of the mornings during our stay. Coffee and water, mandarins, and store bought coffee cakes were out, and the proprietor, who was super kind during the stay, made some scrambled eggs, which were really delicious. He had some bread and cinnamon raisin bread out, too, which we toasted. The room was decently sized and fairly clean, though there were some ants. One oddity is the bathroom situation. Our room had a private bathroom, which was a deal breaker for us. You can request that when you book. Most rooms share bathrooms - there are a few in the halls. The walls are pretty thin, and there was a definite clomper present during our visit, so we heard them a-clompin' from time to time. Overall, though, it didn't detract for us. The third floor has a nice little lounge and TV room if you need to stay indoors awhile, plus there are porches out front and on the second floor. Bonus points because at the entrance they sell "ping pong pals," which are ping pong balls with mini sunglasses. That's the stuff bonus points were made for. Extra bonus points for the single best selling point about this place - the location. They are a five minute walk from Ocean Grove's Main Street with its nice coffeeshops, bakeries, delis, shops, etc; less than five minutes walking gets you to the beach; and about 5-10 minutes across the bridge gets you to Asbury's main dining/night life area. That makes for an incredibly convenient stay. We were satisfied.

The Ocean Park Inn has board games and books in the parlor, rockers on the porch, balconies with a sea breeze -- and the owner is a great cook.
