First time in Asbury Park for both of us. We booked this motel thru a booking website. We chose this specific motel due to the location from The Stone Pony and to the beach. And...Because we were able to book just the one night. (We would have stayed another night, if we were able, but...had to go.) We had booked a Queen Room, which was upgraded to a Double Suite upon check-in. Two double beds, micro fridge, microwave, coffee maker AND...a kitchenette (sink, stove top and cabinets), which would be just wonderful for longer stays! Our room overlooked the parking lot and street...with a teeny view of the ocean! We arrived during the annual LGBTQ Pride Celebration happening all around, which had wound down by the time we got back to the room for bed. No street noise was heard. The room was dated, but SUPER CLEAN! (You could walk on the carpet with your bare feet!) NO SIGNS of roaches, bedbugs, ants, etc. (Which is super important to us!) Water pressure in the bathroom was good. Air conditioner worked, though we did not use it. Cable TV worked fine. Strong wi-fi in the room. Door locked securely. On-site parking. Check-in was swift and hassle-free. Rocky was gracious and quite hospitable. Location, location, location! About 5 miles off of the Garden State Parkway. One block from Ocean Avenue and the North Beach Boardwalk. 5 minute walk to the Convention Hall and the Paramount Theatre. 1/2 mile to The Stone Pony. Within walking distance to...EVERYTHING! Lots of safe walking opportunities. Besides being one block from the Boardwalk, it's a 5-minute walk to Deal Lake; 3 minute walk to Bradley Park; less than 1/2 mile walk to Sunset Park and just over 1/2 mile walk to Wesley Lake. (I'm an Aquarius, I was born a water baby!) Walking distance...in every direction...to lots of restaurants, etc. This is a SMOKE-FREE establishment!!! Hands down the dirtiest place I have ever paid to stay at. When we walked in our beds were not actually made. The room smelled of stale cigarettes and rundown dreams. There were dead roaches in the window seal and live roaches stuck to a bug trap in the bathroom. There were some small old bloodstains on the sheets. The vents were covered in roach poo, and I was afraid to leave my bag in the room. The only positives were as follows: -the proprietor is very friendly -the price was dirt cheap (but I would have rather slept in the car) -I could not find bed bugs (but those things are very good hiders), I only found traces of them read more

What a dump. It's so bad it's funny. Paid $147 Sept 14 to stay there after a show at Stone Pony for the first and last time. Check in happens in a hot little vestibule with bulletproof glass. Pool looks like it's been out of commission for a LONG time. Bed only had fitted sheets on it... complete with several large (bigger than a quarter) blood stains at no extra cost. The two pillows and comforter were strewn about on an armchair. My first thought was "bed bugs" but didn't see any evidence, though I was afraid to look. Miraculously the A/C worked well. This was my third time staying here. Clean, no bugs, friendly staff. I stayed for 8 nights with my son dropping in for a few in the middle. Two blocks to the boardwalk and food truck lot. Kim Marie's Pub is only 350 ft away and is great for late night drinks and meeting with friends I have in the area. The manager cut me a deal for my long term visit. Asbury is getting very pricey and this place made it possible for me to enjoy a long term visit. After visiting friends and relatives in another town, I came back for 3 more nights to finish my vacation. I was very happy with everything. It was bad! Don't do it is about all I can say! We checked in and walked around the boardwalk and after thinking about sleeping in that place we just couldn't do it. Dirty shower, with no shower head and mold all over the shower. It was dark and just felt dirty. I've stayed and slept in many places but this one I just couldn't do! Last minute trip and this was the only hotel with availability. It definitely not the most attractive place but it did the job. The staff was super nice. The shower is just a mist and the A/C barely worked in room 16. The room was clean and the staff was great, worked in a pinch. read more

My friend and I decided to book a last minute trip to Asbury Park for the 4th of July and luckily we were able to get a room here. Check-in and check-out process was very easy. Be sure to have $20 cash as a key deposit (you get back upon check-out) Pros: Clean, very close to the beach and boardwalk, microwave and fridge in room, new TV, very cold air conditioner, free parking (and let us park our car early in the morning before check-in), new fluffy towels each day Cons: rooms are dated, small bathroom Overall would not be my first choice in hotel, but came in handy last minute and was reasonably priced (for 4th of July weekend). read more

This place is In a great location surrounded by the renaissance of Asbury Park. Too bad that the hotel houses "permanent" section 8 residents who are not respectful of the permanent residents in the area. There are loud and too many (as in litters of) kids/teens around without supervision! Don't stay here. Other reviews also indicate bed bugs which is not surprising at all. Advice for the owners.... evict all of the section 8, revamp and fumigate the entire place and then up-sell the rooms to match the prime location. read more

We got to town on Friday night the whole town was sold out, obviously its August. My boyfriend and I saw this place and found a last available room for the weekend. The owners/managers are very nice, the owner even brought us ice to our room. This is the deal:for $80 per night and half a block from the beach this is a good deal. The room is big, flat screen TV, microwave and fridge. Yes the place is run down, but its clean. Also we get free parking and everything is whitin walking distance. Compared to many of the area's bed and breakfast this is a good deal, you may not get to stay at a room that seems to be decorated by your 89 year old fave auntie and have afternoon tea by the porch, but again you only pay $80 a night! This place gave me a feel of freedom since no one is checking that you don't break the decorations by the stairs from your great grandmother. read more

Girlfriend and I went for an overnight trip to the beach here, looking for a reasonable place to stay. Saw that this place placed 3rd (!) on tripadvisor. Here's the lowdown: blood stained sheets. No towel racks. No toilet paper holder. Sticky (and I mean bbq sauce or some something really sticky) on the tv. 1 light, in the form of a dim lamp. Driftwood to secure the window. Everything else was sold out. When we went to check in, there were these homemade warnings: 1) from police that cars have been broken into 2) rules for "visitors" and things of that nature. Can't say enough about how friendly the staff and owner are. They were super helpful every step of the way and even let us park after we left for the day to save us $20. That being said, the hotel itself is OLD. Our AC was 20 yo and barely worked, the window was broken, the bathroom was nasty, and the beds were antique. Hope that they take the opportunity to update the facility. With the location they have they would make their money back in no time. read more

I stayed at this motel in July 2019. We chose it because its location is a short walking distance to the Stone Pony/Asbury Boardwalk and it was on the cheaper side. Anyone who lives in or visits the area knows that any kind of hotel/ motel room at the Jersey shore during the summer is pretty pricey. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by staff. We had to provide a $20 deposit for parking for each car we had (which we got back upon departure). The room was very dated but clean. The beds were made, no bugs in sight, and the AC worked great. Even though the bathroom was on the older side all of the amenities worked fine. The room had a small flat screen tv, a small fridge, and a stove top (which was very, very old). The motel has a no smoking indoors policy but you can do so in the parking lot away from the building. Please note that this motel (at this time) does NOT have any other amenities such as a pool, ice / vending machine, etc. that others may offer. read more

So. This place was cheap so I wasn't expecting much. It's one block off the boardwalk/beach, and includes parking which is premium in the area. It's dated. Really dated. BUT at least in my rooms case it is meticulously maintained and clean. The guy at the front was nice, and check in was quick and easy. If they invested a few bucks per room (like a new comforter?), and chose a....not brown paint color I feel like that would completely change the place. read more

My GF surprised me w/a getaway for New Year's Eve and we stayed at the Oceanic Inn - Never again will we stay here and we are contacting the Board of Health. My GF found bed bugs and other bugs - The manager did not respond to me when I brought this to his attention nor did he offer to refund my GF her money. **** warning do not stay her in less you want bed bugs an other sorts of bugs **** The beds and sheets had bug eggs from bed bugs and head lice Also the place was very loud and the other guests where not quiet as they where arriving back to their rooms late in the evening Enjoy Asbury Park and all it has to offer but save your $$$ and enjoy another hotel read more

Location, location. That's what this place has...but not much else. The rooms are disgusting. Empty Pepsi bottles under the bed. I wouldn't touch the bed spreads with rubber gloves. I can honestly say this was the most disgusting hotel I've ever been in. The room was dirty, run down and outdated. It smelled like stale cigarettes, and there were huge swarms of flies by the light at night. My friends also had a room, but on the south side of the building, which was much nicer. As people have mentioned, it is close to the beach and boardwalk, and offers free parking, which is definitely a plus. Additionally, the owner was very nice and attentive. I just cannot get over how nasty the interior of this place was. And to top it off, I have two large bug bites on my thigh which I am worried may be bed bug bites. Great staff and a great price. I've been to Asbury many times for there concerts and always enjoyed my stay here.

If you want to spend a night in Asbury Park, a block from the beach, the Stone Pony, Asbury Lanes, etc., this is (by FAR) your cheapest option. The people that work at the desk are polite, the location is TERRIFIC, and at $80/night, it's really a steal. When I first walked in, I was a little taken aback by the nature of the room: there were holes in the bare walls, the tiny window was held closed with a stick, and the single lamp cast a dismal pall over the whole scene. However, on further inspection, the sheets seemed clean, the air conditioning worked well, and the cable TV was just fine. If we'd been staying for a few more days, I imagine the efficiency kitchen-- a stove and fridge-- could have been a nice touch. There are no towel racks in the bathroom, so the towels were just draped over the shower curtain rod, which is kind of gross because the entire bathroom was a bit grimy. Luckily, we had our own towels and some flip-flops to wear in the shower, so it wasn't the worst. (I recommend this for anyone planning a stay in ANY cheap motel!) The Berkeley across the street is lovely and clean, but at more than half the price, the Oceanic is a great option for anyone trying to save a few bucks. read more
