After we got her amputated here in the Bay Area, we chose not to do chemo and wanted a more holistic route. I found Dr Raymond through an FB post in the canine cancer group where someone had shared a picture and I called the clinic. I got through to Taylor, she took all the details, spoke woth Dr Raymond and shipped me the meds. We then met with Dr Raymond a week later and I cannot describe how comforting it was to find a doctor who understood my fears and knew what needed to be done. Dr Raymond is extremely compassionate , very knowledgable and Roxy has been on his recommended herbs and supplements since Aug. We just got the first X-Ray and its good news. Each time I need to order the medicines, I just call and Taylor takes care of shipping me the needed meds. I would recommend anyone looking for a compassionate doc and an excellent team to definitely go to Dr Raymond and Placerville Animal Wellness , especially if you are in CA.

Unfortunately yesterday everything was going fine until he had a bowel movement, shortly after he started to whine, cry and show signs of severe uncomfortableness, lethargy, it was gut wrenching to see this tiny helpless thing I already love so much be so uncomfortable. I called the vet we are meant to see and they could not fit us in but recommended veterinary urgent care and Surgery in Cameron Park. I immediately just started driving there scared for my puppies well-being. While driving I called and they were able to get me an appointment right away, basically the time it took for me to drive there. They tested us from the car for parvo (thank god is was negative) so we were brought into a room. The vet tech was extremely nice, thorough, endearing, empathetic (as I was a blubbering mess worried about my tiny 4lbs puppy) she got her report ready and brought the dr in. He was even kind and empathetic to my worry and concern. We went over everything. From the day I got him to what possibilities it could be. They gave me options, information and we picked a treatment plan after an exam of my puppy. I was sent home with medications, directions and feeling so much relief that they cared for my dogs wellbeing and how I felt as an owner. Upon leaving and check out and the girls at the front came together to chat with us, and say goodbye. We talked a little about how cute he is his breed type and then reassured us to call if we need anything or have any questions. I will absolutely be a returning customer should an emergency come up again. Completely unrelated but when I went to grab my dog from the techs arms after they took him in back to give him a couple shots I could smell her subtle perfume(it smelt amazing) as we had to be shoulder to shoulder. I politely asked her what it was and she told me. Not vet related but something small / important to me. This small kind interactions made me feel like a real person to them instead of a ticket number.

I have shown up at their door before they even open more times than I'd like to admit. One time being when my dog's face was incredibly swollen out of the blue, and in extreme pain with what I thought was a bug bite but was a rattlesnake bite. Dr. K immediately stepped in preformed lifesaving treatment on my dog. Another time my puppy came down with pneumonia, Dr. K took her age into consideration when coming up with a treatment plan, just didn't throw random antibiotics at her and hope for the best, but took into consideration how they might affect her growth long term. She recovered beautifully. When one of my dogs went in for a surgery and was having a difficult time in recovery, Dr. K, reached out and said "I need you back here to sit with him, he's a bit stressed"...that's not normal protocol! Dr K, cares deeply for the animals he treats, they're just not another animal to him. And it shows every time I'm there. While some may say their prices are expensive, please remember that you get what you pay for, when it comes to expertise and care. Your loved one is the best hands, and they have proven that to me time and time again.

We brought him to the clinic, where immediately some concerning issues were found, but nothing to pinpoint the cause. We were offered a very reasonably priced package which would cover all of the needed work up to try and further delineate the problem. Ultimately it was determined that our kitty had some blockage, and unfortunately, the only next step available was surgery so we went ahead and did it - again at an extremely reasonable price - much lower than we were warned we would be paying at an emergency vet. When Dr Raymond got in there, what he found was not what we were expecting . We had assumed that our poor kitty had eaten something that got stuck, but what actually was found was a tumor. Additionally, a pretty severe peritonitis had developed related to the tumor, so our cat essentially was septic. Dr Raymond informed us that the peritonitis was a very severe infection and if our cat survived the next three days we were looking pretty good. Well, it's three days later and thanks to Dr Bader and his amazing staff our kitty came home tonight with no fever. much improved lab results telling us the infection is going away and our kitty is very happy and comfortable. I couldn't have asked for a better experience, 100/10 recommend if you're looking for somewhere you can trust with your fur baby!!! Thank you so much Dr.Bader, Dr. Raymond and your entire staff!

As we returned for the second visit to get boosters, they didn't make a peep in the car on the way there or in the office, they almost seemed excited to come back! at first I felt pride for there good behavior, but then I realized, it was most likely the care they received here Thank you guys for making what is usually, a difficult day that much easier for us the vet doesn't always have to be scary

I had a very disappointing and frustrating experience at Shenandoah Valley Veterinary Clinic…read more I was charged over $400 for what they described as an "extended exam," which included two radiology images totaling $197. While that already felt excessive, the real issue occurred at checkout. On the back wall, there was a sign advertising a promotion: purchase a $100 gift card for $85. When my bill came to $409, I asked if I could purchase gift cards and apply them toward my bill, as many businesses allow. I initially asked about purchasing three gift cards, and the staff member went to check with the veterinarian. She returned and said it was approved. When I realized my bill was closer to $400 and asked about purchasing a fourth gift card, the situation suddenly changed. After realizing I was using the gift cards to reduce the cost of my bill, the veterinarian reversed course and stated that gift cards could not be used the same day they were purchased and would only be valid "tomorrow." This restriction was never stated on the sign and had not been communicated earlier. When the veterinarian came out to speak with me, the very first thing she said was, "I'm not going to sit here and argue with you," despite the fact that there had been no argument at that point. Her tone was immediately hostile and escalated the situation unnecessarily. She then stated that the gift cards were intended for someone to purchase for someone else, not to be used toward services I was actively paying for. When I questioned how that differed from any other business offering gift cards, she refused to sell them to me, stating she believed I was using them inappropriately. Shortly after, another staff member claimed the promotion had ended on December 25th and that the gift cards were no longer valid. However, the sign in the office simply stated "December" with no end date. After I pointed this out, the sign was taken down. When I said I would purchase the gift cards and return the following day, I was then told by the veterinarian that if I did not pay in full that day and take my dog home immediately, I would be considered to be relinquishing my dog to the clinic. That statement was alarming, inappropriate, and felt like a threat. I paid the full amount to avoid further escalation and took my dog home. However, this experience felt misleading, unprofessional, and dishonest. Changing policies mid-transaction, removing signage when questioned, and speaking to a client in a hostile manner--especially while discussing billing--are unacceptable. I am sharing this experience so others can make an informed decision before seeking care here.
