After we got her amputated here in the Bay Area, we chose not to do chemo and wanted a more holistic route. I found Dr Raymond through an FB post in the canine cancer group where someone had shared a picture and I called the clinic. I got through to Taylor, she took all the details, spoke woth Dr Raymond and shipped me the meds. We then met with Dr Raymond a week later and I cannot describe how comforting it was to find a doctor who understood my fears and knew what needed to be done. Dr Raymond is extremely compassionate , very knowledgable and Roxy has been on his recommended herbs and supplements since Aug. We just got the first X-Ray and its good news. Each time I need to order the medicines, I just call and Taylor takes care of shipping me the needed meds. I would recommend anyone looking for a compassionate doc and an excellent team to definitely go to Dr Raymond and Placerville Animal Wellness , especially if you are in CA.

Unfortunately yesterday everything was going fine until he had a bowel movement, shortly after he started to whine, cry and show signs of severe uncomfortableness, lethargy, it was gut wrenching to see this tiny helpless thing I already love so much be so uncomfortable. I called the vet we are meant to see and they could not fit us in but recommended veterinary urgent care and Surgery in Cameron Park. I immediately just started driving there scared for my puppies well-being. While driving I called and they were able to get me an appointment right away, basically the time it took for me to drive there. They tested us from the car for parvo (thank god is was negative) so we were brought into a room. The vet tech was extremely nice, thorough, endearing, empathetic (as I was a blubbering mess worried about my tiny 4lbs puppy) she got her report ready and brought the dr in. He was even kind and empathetic to my worry and concern. We went over everything. From the day I got him to what possibilities it could be. They gave me options, information and we picked a treatment plan after an exam of my puppy. I was sent home with medications, directions and feeling so much relief that they cared for my dogs wellbeing and how I felt as an owner. Upon leaving and check out and the girls at the front came together to chat with us, and say goodbye. We talked a little about how cute he is his breed type and then reassured us to call if we need anything or have any questions. I will absolutely be a returning customer should an emergency come up again. Completely unrelated but when I went to grab my dog from the techs arms after they took him in back to give him a couple shots I could smell her subtle perfume(it smelt amazing) as we had to be shoulder to shoulder. I politely asked her what it was and she told me. Not vet related but something small / important to me. This small kind interactions made me feel like a real person to them instead of a ticket number.

I have shown up at their door before they even open more times than I'd like to admit. One time being when my dog's face was incredibly swollen out of the blue, and in extreme pain with what I thought was a bug bite but was a rattlesnake bite. Dr. K immediately stepped in preformed lifesaving treatment on my dog. Another time my puppy came down with pneumonia, Dr. K took her age into consideration when coming up with a treatment plan, just didn't throw random antibiotics at her and hope for the best, but took into consideration how they might affect her growth long term. She recovered beautifully. When one of my dogs went in for a surgery and was having a difficult time in recovery, Dr. K, reached out and said "I need you back here to sit with him, he's a bit stressed"...that's not normal protocol! Dr K, cares deeply for the animals he treats, they're just not another animal to him. And it shows every time I'm there. While some may say their prices are expensive, please remember that you get what you pay for, when it comes to expertise and care. Your loved one is the best hands, and they have proven that to me time and time again.

The drive from sacramento was definitely worth it and they are usually pretty busy so be aware you may schedule your appointment a month or 2 prior before they could get you in. Also drop off is between 8-9 and i would recommend you get there at 8 to avoid waiting longer for your fur baby to be ready to come home. I dropped off my kitty at 8 15 am and she was ready to be picked up by 1 pm which was perfect since we stayed out there for the day due to the drive but again it was well worth it i will be taking my cats there again, thank you so so so much to all of the staff, they even called me the next day to make sure she was doing well.

Every single person I met was so kind, compassionate, and genuinely cared about my dog. You can tell they do this because they love helping animals and the people who love them. My dog had severe Stage 4 periodontal disease and was in so much pain. He needed a lot of dental work and many extractions. I had been calling vet after vet, but every estimate was far beyond what I could afford. As someone with a limited income, I felt completely helpless. It broke my heart knowing he was suffering while I was desperately trying to figure out how to help him. This clinic gave me hope when I felt like I had run out of options. Not only did they take amazing care of my dog, but their prices made it possible for me to get him the treatment he desperately needed. Even with all of his extractions, the total was less than $600, including antibiotics and pain medication. I honestly couldn't believe it. Because of this clinic, my dog no longer has to live in constant pain. That means more to me than words can ever express. Thank you for giving people like me the chance to care for the pets we love so much without having to go into overwhelming debt. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything you do. You truly made a difference in both my dog's life and mine. I will never forget your kindness, and I recommend this clinic with all my heart.

When the pharmacy told me the prescription had no refills, I contacted Sierra expecting a quick solution. Instead, I was bounced back and forth between the pharmacy and the vet's office because Sierra refuses to accept faxes (only accepts emails which the pharmacy doesn't send), and refuses to call in prescriptions! The pharmacy was willing to fax or speak to the vet directly, but Sierra insisted the only option was for me to drive over and pick up a written prescription -- and even at 9:30 am, they can't guarantee it will be ready by the end of the day. I have to "wait" for a call that the script is ready (like I don't have anything better to do). This is incredibly inconvenient and shows ZERO consideration for clients managing chronic medical conditions, a full time job, family and a life! Their customer service has gone downhill, their policies make simple tasks far harder than they need to be, and their prices are higher than other local vets. I'll be switching clinics after this experience.

Since I am newer to the area, I wanted to try at least two vet clinics in the area. Last year I…read moretried one for my dog's annual exam, and today I tried the other, Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic. I also specifically wanted to try a male vet, as my previous vet in Southern CA was also male (and adored). So, I brought my beloved senior gal (dog) to Dr. Johnson. I was extremely impressed with the facility- ample parking, clean and spacious waiting area, nice decor, complimentary coffee (Keurig), and well-equipped. They are also well-staffed here. Our appointment went very well, Dr. Johnson did a nice job with the exam and discussing my concerns with me (recommended vaccines for the area, skin tags, etc). I especially like a vet who will sit on the floor with my dog and I. It is that type of bedside manner that I look for and appreciate in a vet. Since they have an in-house lab, I was called by the Doctor himself with the blood and heartworm results within 3 hours of my appointment - IMPRESSIVE! I was also impressed with the fact that I could pay in the exam room before I left - a convenience I have never experienced before! The exam cost was comparable to other vets in the area, the blood panel was quite a bit more than what I paid last year at the other local vet. I also appreciate that Dr. Johnson is not the type to push services, but does a nice job at communicating his professional opinion and backs it up with experience. The demeanor of the front desk staff is also very important to me and a point of dissatisfaction with that other vet's office. The gals at Pleasant Valley were friendly and welcoming. Tylene especially went above and beyond to answer some questions I had via email prior to my appointment. She was helpful, thorough and prompt in her responses. The only drawback I find in this area in general, is the lack of a holistic-minded vet. I am extremely particular about my dog's care and wellness, and do my best to research all issues and make the most informed and healthiest decisions I can in order to extend her quality of life. On our way out, my dog enjoyed sniffing and marking in the designated area off of the parking lot, which I thought was a great perk! Neither of my previous vets had this, and I know my gal enjoyed the "pee mail". All in all, I would highly recommend this clinic. The fact that they have several doctors increases your chances of being seen quickly in case of an urgent matter, and the in house lab provides faster results. It is a very nice establishment for this area, has current technology in place, attentive staff and is very clean and well-kept. I was pleased!

On my first visit to this clinic, while waiting in an exam room, I saw a flea jump onto her head. I caught it, but where there is one, there are hundreds. My dog has never had fleas in her life until going to Pleasant Valley Vet Clinic. So when I told the receptionist in a later phone call that she had contracted fleas (which were now in epidemic proportions in our house) she was nice and said I should go in and they would get me some flea medication. I took that to mean that they were offering me the treatment free of charge. Initially I said no, because I do not take putting poison on my dog lightly, but after many attempts to get rid of the fleas in our house, I called and said yes, I would like to get that. Again, I assumed they were doing the right thing, being responsible, and going to give me the treatment free of charge. Instead, I was asked to pay. I declined the offer, knowing that I could get the same medication online much cheaper. The owner of the business, Amy, made a point to call me on the phone after we had left and were driving home to give me a rude and bullying lecture on how awful I was to expect them to give me something for free. I did not expect it. I did not ask for it. I thought I was offered it. At one point in my absurd telephone lecture I asked Amy if she just needed someone to yell at today? She appeared to be having some major menopause issues. In addition, when we were in the office waiting room during one of our dog's visits, I witnessed Amy dress down another client who came in to ask a simple question. Way out of line. Big over-reaction. Nobody needs to put up with a bullying business owner. I will be going to Sutter Creek from now on.
