I stopped here for some cigars after spending a day at the Ohio State fair. I was a big confused when I first walked as there were shelves & shelves of cigars. But I didn't see a humidor. I asked and was told that the entire building was a humidor and kept at 68% humidity, (that's perfect for cigars). The selection is wonderful! I picked out 3 Rocky Patel cigars and paid for them. Here's my one hit, it's just a bit pricy for what I bought. I can find the same cigars in Dayton for about $2 less - each. Wanted to stop by this place real quick to get a gift for a special someone. Keeping in mind that I don't smoke, I entered the building. All you could smell was different aromas of many cigars. After getting past the smoke, I glanced up and this place had a huge space for what seemed like many many rows and shelves of remarkable cigars. They say this is the largest cigar shop in Ohio. Definitely the largest I've seen. There was a sitting area located at the far end of the store for people to enjoy their preferences. Also, I don't know anything about cigars only a lil research previously looked up on the internet. The clerk was very very helpful! I told him a lil about the guy I was buying for as far as what he drinks and what mild, moderate and bold flavors and intensities I knew he liked. I asked about a few cigars that I researched and thought would be good and the clerk either reassured me that they were great Selections and/or made other great suggestions. He took his time and explained to me the details such as aging of cigar/drinks & what drinks he thought paired well with each cigar that I planned on purchasing. I thought that was exceptional and was quite surprised of the etiquette given. I didn't know it was so much to selecting a cigar. Its very personalized. Its like buying a vehicle....selection, taste & style is everything. Needless to say I left a big smile on my face with the selections I chose. Disappointing and not a bar. Nice selection of cigars and plenty of space but it does not have the look or feel of more elegant cigar bars. It is obvious the space was some sort of convenience store. The worn out couches, trash on the floor such as card board boxes and amateurish presentation of cigars makes it feel more like a generic smoke shop than an upscale cigar bar such as Casa de Montecristo in Miami or Nicki Blaines in Indianapolis. The owner needs to step up his or her game but if you want to smoke a cigar in Columbus this place will do. No adult beverages. read more

This place was pretty cool. Staff was very helpful, and they had a huge selection of cigars and sitting area. Some of the cigars were a little dirty and looked moldy. The seating area couches were a little torn up on some of them. However, all around t seems to be a cool "local place" with a great selection. They do serve beer and wine, but no liquor. Nice restaurant next door. Make sure you park in their lot or you will be towed. Free wifi and large televisions for those looking for that. They have hookah also. read more

My husband stumbled on this place when we were on our way to walk around the river one night. They have a huge sleection of cigars, and they even have his two fav's including jamacian. $10 for a nice sized cigar isnt too bad. $2 for a skinny jamaican; lasted an hour. Shisha is good too, nice selection. The hookah lounge attached to this place tried to push american shisha..which is weird. I know the best stuff is Arab and thats what I buy. The best brand out there is Al Fakher. They come in a box. Inside the box is a container with a resealable bag that hold the shisha. Shisha, if made right, only contains molasses, fruit, and honey. ..no additives! 250 grams for $10, which will last us forever!!! At least 50 rounds, whereas going to a hookah lounge you could be spending $10/person per round. SUch a racket! We grabbed a container of berry and mango, 2 cigars, and some eco charcoals (important since you dont want to be inhalling any tar). We also grabbed a new bowl that was a huge steal (online it was $13, here it was $7) and it coems with a metal topper to put the charcoal on so you dont burn the shisha; burn=tar=oww. We'll be going back soon for some new hoses and probably more shisha since this place is the cheapest Ive EVER seen! Plus they have a lot attached which helps a lot. I dont like the lounge, at all. Its dingy looking and the managment is very money crazed. We had to buy a $5 smoothie just so they would charge us $1.50 for a new plug for our bowl; like we dont know it's a used one..please! read more

So I'm strolling through Shore North and I spot House of Montecristo / House of Cigar and say, "Why not? I haven't smoked up in weeks!" I stroll through the cigar area and spot some ACIDS...my most absolutely favoritest cigars ever. Yummy! I keep browsing and decide to change my mind (like a prepubescent teenage girl) that I'll smoke some shisha instead. Yummy too. Ordered a Double Apple Starbuzz ($13), a Turkish Coffee ($3.50) and some Baklava ($4.00). Turkish coffee is POWERFUL. Get it sweet else it'll be way too bitter for you. The shish was smooth and the atmosphere is fun on an evening. read more

Was put off by intimidating handwritten signs in the windows that look like they have been there for years. Posted $20 cutting fee for outside cigar. Almost didn't go in. This review is for the hookah lounge portion of Monte, as I am not a cigar smoker. The place has some ups and downs, and I can't see rating it better then three stars. Most week nights its pretty relaxed, not a lot of a crowd which is good if you have a large group. However, sharing space with cigar smokers is not a good thing for those of us hookah smokers that can't stand cigar smoke. It's overpowering, and often offensive when trying to enjoy the flavor of hookah you paid for. On that note, the selection varies greatly for what is in stock and how well packed the bowl is. Some nights its great, some nights its lousy. Especially for the cost. There are lots of better hookah lounges in town with better selection and better cost. If you want a cigar, go to Monte, if you want a hookah- well its a roll of the dice here. read more

The beer selection is huge too, and the prices here are very reasonable. THE SERVICE Very friendly, and the one guy at the cigar shop is quite knowledgeable and helpful too. THE ATMOSPHERE The lounge is surprisingly large. Frankly a bit cheesy, and the TVs are set horribly loud. A friend of mine introduced me and my boyfriend to place, and we are hooked! It's one of few hookah bars that also serve alcohol, too. They're fod is amazing, believe it or not! I got the chicken sharwma and it was delicious. They are a bit pricey on the drinks and food, but it really is worth it! Great atmosphere, very chill. Only thing is, that some of the servers aren't as attentive as I would like. We got unlimited hookah, and waited almost 3 hours to get a refill, which was unfortunate and not the first time. But. This is definitely one of the most spacious and comfortable hookah bars in Columbus, and the prices are great. The atmosphere is very masculine But the service......well, it could be better. While smoking hookah, I've had to ask multiple times for the employees to change my coals and often times there was no one at the front counter to even ask. It's nice that they leave you alone, but it'd be better if they "checked in" on customers every now and then. House of Cigars is a cool spot. Nestled right smack dab in the middle of Short North, HoC is a fully stocked tobaccoist that features tons of cigars, cigarellos, hookah, and accessories. They features multiple large humidors that contain boxes upon boxes of cigars from all of the respectable brands. For someone who doesn't know a ton about cigars, I was really appreciative of the helpfulness of the staff at HoC who really know their stuff and use their knowledge to make really solid recommendations. HoC also features a large cigar bar area with tons of leather couches and chairs and TV's where people can hang out and smoke in a cool atmosphere. read more

Tip: as a server informed me and my friends, one of the owner's pet peeves is black and milds. Which is hilarious to me, but it is apparently a real problem. I've stopped in Montecristo a few times.. we used to frequent it over the summer with their outdoor seating. The atmosphere is very laid back... a lot of the time you'll catch the owner lounging while you hear blues music playing... sometimes it'll switch to more cultural music..rarely have I heard any pop. This is a good thing :) We've grown used to getting our own hookahs... but since they stopped with the coupons, we tend to share hookahs now. All their hoses have some 'flair' if I must say :) The hookah pull is good. Nothing fancy, nothing shabby. They leave you with a tong and two coals to change out on your own time. I like the independence they allow the customer to have. Montecristo has AMAZING seating. You'd think leather couches wouldn't be that soft... I almost fell asleep. Probably could have. Overall, a nice private (for now) place to relax and hookah... I suspect that Montecristo will be picking up a following soon. read more

I am an avid cigar smoker. Sought out this place through my hotel. Completely understood the buy here and smoke it here. But multiple signs continued to say no to this and no that. When I walked in to the humidor with my friend he was not allowed to go in because he was not smoking (according to the sign). I find cigar smokers are tolerant but not this place. A great place to smoke a cigar or a hookah. The music selection is great and tailored to the crowd for the particular time. Volume is low enough to carry out a conversation. Rarely one can find greater cigar selection.the best ventilation system I have ever encountered; barely can smell the cigar or hookah smoke. Unfortunately, there is no alcohol, but the mint tea was reminding me to the tea of Iraq. Good stuff. Sufficient parking, which is is important, unless you want to bail your car out of impound. As a hookah lounge, this is a great spot. Good service, good prices, customary ice tips, excellent selection of flavors.... However, I may just be showing my age, but the music could come down a bit. I just feel like it doesn't really mesh with the relaxing atmosphere and comfy furniture vibe that I get from the place. Very hard to hold a conversation when there's excessively loud music exploding your eardrums out. I can understand this in a nightclub, but this is not a nightclub. Went to pick up some stocking stuffers for the Husband for Christmas. The selection was awesome and the gentleman who helped me out was super nice. I appreciated all his help as he guided me through the labyrinth of boxes. My only qualm was how much I reeked like the place after I left. I was only in there for 5 minutes and it was like walking into a gigantic humidor, and the smell came with me when I left. I've been to several cigar shops (in the south) and this is the first one that I have ever been to like this. They must need the extra humidity to combat the dry brutal cold of Ohio. Tons of options and a knowledgable staff to help yout select what to smoke. Once to you select your cigar(s), take them into the large smoking lounge next door and chill out. There are a bunch of TVs and big chairs and couches. The furniture has seen better days, but everyone in there is puffing on cigars, so it's probably not staying pristine anyway. This establishment is very good and bad at the same time, depending on what you're going there for. The building is in half 2 business owned by the same person. The cigar shop side is fantastic. there are building long walk-in humidors just full of 100's of different cigars- not to mention they of course have a section for my favorites- davidoff !The staff is very knowledgeable about most of the cigars and are fast to recommend you a quality one based on your tastes. The hookah bar half is on the other side of the building, sharing a smoking lounge with the cigar smokers. The wait staff is very friendly and comes to you, however the quality of the hookahs ordered varies. On a good day you can get a great quality hookah, on a bad day you'll get something that's packed too tightly and is horrible for the duration of your stay. Also my final beef is they are often out of stock on their food products and they charge $6 for a bottle of beer.... even the cheap beer like corona and bud light. read more

It was also dirty and dark. Instead of evacuating systems that other fine shops have they only had ceiling fans which just blow the smoke around. This leaves a very thick environment to smoke in.
