Small local coffee shop that has been around for quite some time. The owners have changed hands a few times but the coffee shop remains open. Very cool vibe and ambiance inside the shop as well as outside. Service is impressive, friendly patient barista. Did not feel rushed or pressured but was offered to take my time. The barista also let me know that if I want to make my own drink TK instead of ordering off the menu that was possible. As far as food, I didn't see any. Apparently at one time they had bakery items, maybe they were sold out by the time my friend and I arrived (9:30ish on a Friday)? I'm not sure but a bakery items, especially if homemade would have made this a five star review. I always try to support small business owners and local shops and this is no exception! I highly recommend you give this place a chance and your business, the coffee is delicious! You will not be disappointed in the coffee! read more

we love a little locally owned coffee shop!! i got a small iced caramel macchiato with oat milk. super super good. strong, but not bitter. it may be the best coffee i've had in a while. way better than starbucks. pricing is pretty comparable to starbucks but its local so id rather support this place. i also got a panini. they do sell out quick so be sure to get there early if you wanna make sure you get one. its made with sourdough and so delish. it's so simple yet done so well. the bread was perfectly toasted so it was crunchy but still soft. read more

The first thing I noticed was the amazingly friendly service. The staff seem so cheerful, knowledgeable about the menu, and are helpful. The drinks we got were pretty good. I had the Nutty Hawaiian. I really appreciated that the barista who helped us ensured confirmed whether or not we wanted their default dairy milk, or an alternative milk, so we opted for soy milk. Also got the brie and herb croissant, which wasn't as flaky as I would have liked, but I really enjoyed the brie in there nonetheless. They also asked if we wanted it warmed up, which I appreciated...definitely get it warmed up! read more

We were looking for a new coffee shop to try before heading to a nearby car dealership, and this one caught my eye for their specialty drink menu. They have a nice corner spot and it's very spacious inside. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. I decided to have "The Jenn" which is sweetened espresso with chocolate and cinnamon, and I ordered it with soy milk. I noticed she made it using a whisk, which resulted in a very creamy and smooth drink! I was really impressed by this small town coffee shop and loved the drink. This place has always offered terrific coffee and coffee drinks, and I prefer patronizing a locally-owned shop versus someplace like Starbucks. Plus, today, we had a special experience that tells you why it is good to support local businesses. After a strong storm brought flooding and power outages to a good chunk of Lodi, I went looking for coffee with my daughter and her husband. We couldn't make it -- or anything else -- at home, as the power had been out for hours. We decided to try House of Coffees first, and when we drove up it looked closed (no people around) but there were lights on. My daughter went to the door and saw a man inside. The sign on the door said they were closed (it was New Year's Day), but he invited us in, offered us fresh-brewed coffee (at no charge) and was as kind and neighborly as anyone could ask. He knew that some people would not be able to make coffee at home, and he just wanted to help out somehow. In this day and age, it was heartwarming and helped smooth over a less-than-ideal morning. You'd better believe that House of Coffees will stay my go-to coffee place in Lodi. read more

I was running errands in the area & needed my caffeine dosage for the day, so I ended up here after seeing so many great things about the place. Coming in, I noticed there were so many options on the menu & their tea menu was just as expansive as the coffee menu. They had some interesting drinks but I decided to go with just the drip coffee. The drip coffee is self serve & I got the Mexico & it was great. It was prepared well & I enjoyed sipping on my coffee throughout the day. They also had some very cute merchandise & I might have to get some next time. I'll be back again if I'm ever in the area & maybe I'll try something new next time. read more

I went to this coffee house the other day, and it will probably be the last time I will ever go there. The whole time from the moment I walked in, the two young ladies who were "working" were talking with another young lady, who apparently was a customer/friend. They had a nonstop conversation all the way through my visit. Even when I had completed my drink and was leaving they were still chitchatting. No how are you today, thank you, thanks for coming in, Nothing. It felt like I was disrupting their social event between the three girls. Each time you needed help, not even a thank you. They seemed like they could care less if you were there or not, Or if you even liked what you ordered. My coffee drink was terrible. It was mainly milk. I would've like to order something to eat to go with my coffee drink, but they only had two flavors of scones. Very boring. I owned a very successful espresso shop/Cafe for over eight years until I sold it. This place was a great disappointment in every way. No customer service skills, appreciation or concern for the viewpoint of the customer. It's too bad because coffee shops are a dime a dozen. You can get coffee anywhere. Always a great cuppa joe, brewed coffees always have variety and are always ready. There's also espresso-based and blended drinks as well and both on-menu and "off the menu" drinks. Nice corner-store vibe to the joint, and the staff is super-chill. Also, bonus, they serve beer in the afternoon/evening (4 rotating taps), although they just changed owners and the license is still running through the system, so probably mid-late March before beer is back. Props for being Giants fans. No props for my drink. I ordered the happy camper mocha, w almond milk. It's just a mocha w toasted marshmallow. Simple. What could & should have been a delicious treat, which was the whole point, turned into a sorry experience. This was so sweet it was basically inedible. Think of a hot chocolate, w double the amount of chocolate you should use. The marshmallow factor only adds to the sugar quotient, so obviously this needs to be taken into consideration to get the balance right. It obviously was not taken into consideration. My cup was just one hot cup of liquid sugar. Essentially, this is not out of the ordinary. A lot of barista coffee drinks are loaded w sugar. But, they're not supposed to so blazingly taste like it. The drink that I was served here was a complete fail. I ended up going to another coffee house to wash this taste out of my mouth. I'm sure they're nice folks here. And the drink menu is interesting. I was visiting Lodi and stopped at House of Coffee! I must say, it's the best coffee I have had in a while! The huge corporation across the street is alright but I've never had such a great tasting Iced Sugar Free Hazelnut Latte! I felt horrible as I drove off and realized that I did not tip the barista. The atmosphere was so welcoming. If I wasn't heading to work out of town, I would have stayed to play some of the games or even read the paper. I will be sure to always stop here when I visit. I used to like this place but will not be returning in the future. Stopped by 8 minutes before closing and they'd already cleaned the espresso machine, so I couldn't get a latte. That's not a good business practice, especially for a place that closes so early in the evening. Worse than that, when we walked in neither employee was wearing a mask. They put them on when we arrived, but that is not best practice against the spread of Covid-19; it's putting on a show for customers, not showing concern for their health and wellbeing. read more

Based on a random early morning Yelp search, I found this little hole in the wall coffee shop next to a popular fitness center in Lakewood Mall in Lodi. There was ample parking in the open parking lot and there were a few tables outside the coffee shop as well. I went inside and was warmly greeted by two female baristas who were kind and friendly. After browsing the menu a moment, I settled with a wet nonfat cappuccino to enjoy while I did some reading for class. It was a bit warm outside so I opted to sit inside at a table against the window and next to the front door of the coffee shop. The drink was hot and delicious, the tables were clean, and the ambiance felt like a friendly neighborhood coffee shop on Saturday morning. Ever since Flight stopped opening early on weekdays I've been searching for a new coffee spot. Though this place is half way to the other side of town from me-- a girl's gotta have her coffee fix, right?! I had to try the Nutty Irishman since I haven't seen an Irish creme drink at a coffee place since I've been back in the states!! They have it at Starbucks in both England & Ireland, but their coffee is weak. So I've been looking for something better anyways & this hit the spot! I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overly sweet. Just a light Bailey's with hazelnut flavor to a rich milky coffee taste. I was glad that I asked for whipped creme on top to complete it with something a little sweeter. The cookie was still delish even though I really prefer them on the softer side. Customer service was friendly & attentive as well. The only reasons I took a star off is because: 1- I wish they had more of a food selection that wasn't mostly sweets (though what they did have looked pretty good). 2- I want soft warm cookies. I have found the staff to be consistently friendly, and I've had no trouble or attitude from them about using plastic instead of paper to pay. They sell little boutique-y items--jewelry, scarves, and whatnot. I've never really looked at them with a purchase in mind. I noticed they have a sign by their register that they offer curb-side service; just call ahead and they'll bring your order out to your car. Since they can't offer a drive-through, I think it's a very nice idea. HoC has ruined Starbucks for me forever, and for that I'm very grateful. read more

This place is fantastic! I have visited several shops in the area, and I can't help but come back to this one. The staff is always friendly. It's nice to be welcomed by name after only your second visit. There are shops closer to where I live, but this coffee place is worth the drive. Their early hours are a huge plus. I love being able to wake up at virtually any time and get one of my favorite cups of coffee. The Specialty Drinks are nothing short of amazing! The Roadie: This is great hot! It gives you an extra kick to start your day, and tastes great! Happy Camper: This is another great drink to enjoy hot! It tastes like a hot S'mores in a drink! Walked here while staying in Lodi. Wanted to go tot he neighborhood joint for coffee. What a col place and cool vibe. They are like a rock n roll coffee house. Clearly locals come here. Read the paper and bring your dog. They have dog treats for your pooch too. The girls are sweet, will help you out if you have no clue what something is because they have some clever named drinks. I got a Bobbie which is a less sweet Mocha. Honestly, that was a good amount of sweetness so I can't even imagine how sweet the regular mocha is. The drink was really good, rich and smooth. i typically love HOC and think they are an amazing shop, but today's experience was a little upsetting. i called in a little less than 10 minutes until closing to place a pick up order so i wasn't walking in 2 minutes to closing and having them make my order. when i asked the woman on the phone if i could place an order for pick up her reply (in my opinion) was a little snarky; "uhm, we close in 8 minutes" at that point i should have just said never mind, but placed my order anyways. when i arrived she seems annoyed that i had still placed an order. i love this shop and it's coffee's, today's service was just a little sad. read more

I happen to be in Lodi working when I craved a coffee. I did. It want the same ol boring star bucks. I wanted something different. I decided to try this place based on the ratings. As I pulled into the parking lot, I could see the mortal enemy aka the competition star bucks right across the street. I walked into this place. Pretty nice. They even have been on tap. YES I said BEER. The staff was extremely nice. I decided to try the mocha. Pretty tasty mocha. My co-worker tried an ice drink and he too was extremely happy with his drink. If I had one negative to say about this place, the owner of this coffee house is a SF Giants. Boooooooo. She had Giants stuff all over one wall. I generally love visiting small local coffee shops as they often have better drinks and more friendly employees than chains such as Starbucks or Peet's. I decided to visit House of Coffees this morning with a friend after I drove by last week and saw it. It looked like a cute, relaxing place to sit with some coffee and chat. The great reviews on Yelp also made me want to try it. When we got there though the employees were very rude - they made it seem like a chore to make our drinks and they were more concerned with running around and tossing balls and balloons. I get that this is not a strict chain but come on have some professionalism. I got a nonfat iced mocha that was pretty boring and the mocha they used was not well blended into the drink at all. The person working there also seemed annoyed when I asked for it over ice instead of blended. My friend got an iced half and half (white mocha and mocha) and she said it was just alright as well. Hers also was not blended. Both of our drinks were over $5 and neither of us finished them. We would have also liked a better selection of pastries to go with our drinks as opposed to shirts and jewelry. I don't think I will visit this coffee shop again. They seemed to have a lot of regulars which is good for them - I just don't plan to become one. read more
