I've been here many times and been coming for years! Recently went with a group the other day and it was honestly nostalgic coming back to this restaurant. Service is fast, they cater for you instantly as you walk in. I highly recommend getting Peking Chicken, it is sooo good I am the type of person who eats it at the restaurant and order one for to go cuz it's that good!! Along with Peking Chicken, I get black bean noodles. Pairing those two together is so good, if I had more space in my stomach, I would also order Tang su yuk aka sweet and sour pork :)

House of Joy never disappoints. Pls look at all the food my friends and I ordered and destroyed for a birthday. Yes, you can get everything to-go and enjoy on a fine winter's night. The best comfort food.

The side dishes were terrible. The onions were old and rotten, and the cabbage kimchi smelled old.

We tried this place based on the reviews. The place was located next to a Filipino restaurant and a Parisian bakery that we often visited. The food was very good. We were not disappointed. Everything was done really well. Portions were large. We got the dinner that came with appetizers, soup and entree each. Overall we were quite happy. Food quality was better than any cheap Chinese takeout place. So I thought it was a fair price for what you get. But some might find it a bit pricey. For a treat or a special occasion it's ok to splurge.

Provender: this Chinese-Korean location has been here for a long time, but has changed ownership. The things you should order include the Peking chicken, jja jang myun (black bean noodles), or jjam ppong (spicy seafood noodles). Prices: things have gotten pricier all around, so a bowl of jja jang myun will run you about $14. Parking: parking up top and below. People: fun for all. I believe they have side rooms for private events. Perks: if you want to park in a shaded location the plaza this restaurant is in offers subterranean garage parking. You'll have to climb some stairs though.

My family and my favourite spot for a very long long time!! Happy to be back and see familiar faces. We were visiting family up the street and were hungry so I suggested house of joy for lunch special. The prices are low, portions are huge and selections crazy. But the best is the cream cheese wontons and hot and sour soup Highly recommend the honey walnut shrimp and the Peking chicken. They never have honey walnut shrimp in Vancouver Canada, I honestly don't know why... will be back again lol!! Thank you everybody always!

3.5 stars Food took some time to come out for a quiet lunch crowd but service was good. Kimchi was overly sour and tea had no taste at all but the dishes overall tasted okay. I'm not sure if I would return.

Very good Korean/Chinese style food. Place needs to be updated but the food is good. Service is nice.

Wow. I am SO excited to have discovered this restaurant. For 8 years I've been searching for Chinese takeout that reminds me of east coast flavors I'm used to. This was an excellent order and I highly recommend to anyone looking for quality, tasty Chinese take out. One small note, the orange chicken came with PLENTY of sauce which (for me) made the chicken too soggy. I ordered the sweet and sour entree with sauce on the side to keep the chicken at maximum crispy-ness.

I was here for one thing and one thing only. The Peking chicken!

Our server Garrett was delightful. He was so sweet. We both ordered vodka martinis and shared the Vegetable Pot Stickers. Garrett brought us some crispy wonton strips to munch on while we waited. They were addictive, especially dipped in the plum sauce. The Vegetable Pot Stickers were pan seared. They had a nice texture and the vegetable filling was tasty. We started off with some calamari for our appetizers. Light batter, nicely salted, and plenty of jalapeños. For our main dishes we went all out- Mongolian beef Chicken with jalapeños Chloe's shrimp Hunan spicy garlic shrimp Vegetable chow mein All were very tasty but the BEST was the Hunan spicy garlic shrimp. Very flavorful! Must order. They also have these chocolate dipped fortune cookies which is a nice takeaway.

You can omit egg for some to be vegan. Adding Gluten to your dish will cost more than meat option? (-1 Star). Tasty dishes. Spice level is very good. Spicy = spicy. This place is basic, nothing fancy and there's really no ambiance or special feelings associated with it - it's just an old-looking sit-down and serve establishment. The few people sitting to eat were random; I was there to order to-go. After asking what was the patrons favorite dish(es) the lady quickly pointed out the most expensive items on the menu. Of course she did. My eyes rolled but I was polite and decided to order something I recognized and wouldn't hate myself for in the morning. Chicken Teriyaki Can of coke My bill came to $34.23 Ahem! What? Why does a plate of Chicken Teriyaki cost so much? And why $3 for a can of coke? I just cannot wrap my head around it. This isn't a fancy restaurant at all! In fact, it's as basic as it gets with no ambiance or warmth. I cannot recommend this place at all. The food was pretty poor and nowhere near on par with classy eats that try to reach that $$ figure. Montrose is certainly a place where there are people with money and no taste...looking for reasons to spend it willy-nilly. I thought I took a photo of the plate when I got home. Guess not. Avoid if you aren't made of money and prefer well-prepared meals, not quick, mushy fast-foodish stuff.

I didn't get checked on much at all but the kimchi beef tofu soup was good, a little on the plain watery side, and the sides themselves were ok. Total price was $16.99, ~$18 with tax. As mentioned by others, don't expect BCD tofu house here - but for being outside of K town this place is just OK. The inside is nothing special but it gets the job done and it's cozy. It is in a Vons shared shopping plaza so I wasn't expecting anything past basic. It's always a good sign when you have other Koreans eating at a Korean restaurant. As I was leaving there were 5 Korean patrons newly seated and seemed like it wasn't their first time.
