Chirashi Bowl and Salmon Teriyaki Bento
    Annie W.

HUGE portions!! We came here for lunch and ordered the Chirashi bowl and Salmon Teriyaki bento. We were seated quickly by polite staff, not super crowded in the restaurant. Clean tables and store. The Chirashi bowl is perfectly balanced, with lots and lots of fish but also lots of salad greens and onions with slightly tangy dressing to balance it out. It also came with rice. Very filling and generous amounts of fresh fish. The salmon teriyaki was also very tasty. It came with rice, tempura, and other side dishes like salad. My first time coming here, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the price point and the huge portions. Fresh high quality food. HIGHLY recommend!

Whenever I feel like a sushi bento for lunch at home this is the spot I visit. Great lunch special deal. Huge amount of food. I forget the price but I think it was around $25. Fresh quality fish.

We had some friends visiting who wanted sushi and we tried Sakana. It was a busy Friday night but we were seated fairly quickly and our service was great. All our fish was fresh, beers were cold and food served hot. Parking lot was full so we decided to park in the car wash lot next door, others followed as it was closed. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated and we will definitely return. Enjoy!

I drove from Buena Park to La Cañada last Saturday just to eat at Sakana -- and honestly, it reminded me why I don't mind traveling for good food. Instead of wasting money on mediocre places nearby and leaving disappointed, I'd rather drive an extra 30 minutes and enjoy something that actually makes me happy. People say the owner is famously picky, and maybe that's exactly why the quality here never drops. If anything, the food and service keep getting better over the years, which is unbelievable. If they ever open a location in Orange County, I'd be there all the time. But until then -- trust me and just go. Especially if you really know and appreciate good sushi, this place is a must-visit.

I never write bad reviews but I am just so upset at the experience I had ordering from here this past Friday especially because it was a way of treating myself after having a bad day so I was looking forward to it all day. I placed an order for 2 rolls over the phone and made sure to specify for "NO CUCUMBERS" as I am highly allergic. As seen in the picture of the receipt, the specification for no cucumbers was listed in the order. However, I was utterly disappointed when I opened my order when I got home and saw that there were cucumbers in both of my rolls... It wouldn't have been a big issue for me if I simply didn't like cucumbers because I can just take them out and still eat it. However, I have a severe allergy and I can't risk eating around it because it will trigger a reaction. I was so disappointed and upset when I realized I just wasted nearly $50 on food I couldn't eat. I thought about going back to the restaurant and requesting them to remake my order but making that trip would've been a 30 min drive round trip which at that point, I was tired from a long day at work to do all that. Please make sure to double check orders before sending them out because if I didn't check, it would've been very dangerous for me.

Fresh sushi, good service, and cozy seating areas. The booths are most comfortable, and the sushi bar is the prettiest. Decent value for your money. Parking can be tight because of the Korean market, but there is regular turnover of parking spaces (which is a good and bad thing, because not everyone is equally skilled at parking).

I been to many top sushi restaurants and I will say this place compares in terms of freshness and quality. Even appetizers are amazing, I highly recommend the soft shell crab and the Las Vegas roll. All the sushi were fresh and I was surprised to find that you can request real wasabi and it comes on certain orders as well. Staff are amazing super kind and friendly. Been here multiple times and never had anything bad to say. The vibes are cool plenty of seating options and overall a great experience I will always come back.

Amazing place! I came here for the first time for my birthday lunch and it was fantastic! Portions are very generous as you can see and it was delicious! The staff was also very nice and the service and setting was great. Zero complaints, will definitely come back again! Five stars! Six stars!

My childhood friends brought me here a couple years ago and I forgot to post on Yelp. Well, I'm glad we caught up in the same place. A absolute wonderful Japanese restaurant nestled long Foothill Blvd in La Crescenta. (I sure hope they're safe in these fires). Our eyes were larger than our stomachs, and I'm so glad they were. We order so much food and I was treated to an awesome and delicious spread. The food was fresh especially the sushi. My favorite was the Chirashi bowl which to my surprise had TWO bowls of yummy goodness stacked on top of each other! Let's go!!! A pleasant surprise was the Monkey Brains appetizer. Yea we're fans of Indiana Jones. Had to do it. And it did not disappoint. And you know what else doesn't disappoint? The outstanding friend service. The restaurant has a unique floor plan that has a nice charm to it. Easy parking in the front AND the back. Come and enjoy.

Great sushi. Nice atmosphere and wonderful servers. Sot down or order to pick up. I only wish they had more beef selections for us non fish eaters.

Been here few time already, dining and food to go. Always delicious and great portions, not skimping on their fish. Lunch specials are always good options during weekdays. We often come here and order their lunch salmon specials. Their bake salmon rolls were good, but I would recommend the lunch salmon bentos more, because I feel for the pricing you get more variety. Service was also spot on and great both dining and for pick up. Inside is not too small or too big just good enough space, but it can get pretty busy and full on wait list.

See my photo below of the menu with a description of the three wines. We liked all of them. NOTE: You can no longer bring your own food as I wrote about six years ago, but they offer a few things listed under "Bar Snacks". We ordered the cheese, crackers and olives for $18. After our tasting we shared an Italian wine recommended by Jeff who is the owner. We all really liked that. It was a Sandro Fay "Valgella" Valtellina Superiore 2021. I'd definitely buy that again. We arrived at 5:00 p.m. and were ready to head home at 8:00 p.m. which is their closing time. The wines we tasted will be available tonight or January 24, 2026 as well.

So, $27 for an entree of Pasta seemed a bit overpriced expensive given the portions that could have been amplified at nearly minimal cost to the restaurant. I get it 'tho, rent is high and also strategically if you have small entrees then appetizers and other items would be purchased to get the average order size and revenue up as a smart business strategy. So the only comment I have is about the constructive criticism of the portions to the price. As it stands, it feels like what they served was about a $12-15 plate at most in "comps" value to what you might see at peer competitors, 'tho this is gourmet quality. If they doubled the portions served for $27, I wager they're profit margins won't get hurt on the cost of goods (food and portions) but I'm betting the customer care and satisfaction scores will bring back loyal customers with frequency. The service was friendly and atmosphere was nice with the outdoor seating. There's a sister restaurant, across the way with indoor dining.

First off, it's a beautiful restaurant with Spanish touches throughout. There is seating inside and outside the restaurant in the courtyard. In the courtyard, there was a musician playing the guitar. Loved, LOVED his rendition of Hotel California. Really put me in a relaxing mood. The food here is unbelievably good with a few minor exceptions. Here is a run down of everything we had: -Patatas Bravas 5/5 stars. The roasted potatoes were delicious and the creamy sauce drizzled on top made it that much better. -Croquetas de Jamon y Pollo 4/5 stars. I remember it being tasty, but it wasn't as memorable as some of the other things I tried. -Gambas al Ajillo 5/5 stars. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and flavored. Even the bread, which tasted like sourdough, was fantastic. -Calamares Fritos 10/5 stars. No, that is not a typo. I usually avoid calamari like the plague since I'm not a fan of the taste. Here, however, I couldn't stop eating the calamari. I was popping them in my mouth like popcorn. There was something about the batter they used to coat the calamari. It had a satisfying crunch to it. Didn't even need the sauce it came with. -Prime Ribeye (prepared medium rare) 3/5 stars. The steak was okay. It was a bit undercooked and didn't have a nice crust on it. -Papitas Fritas: 10/5 stars. Once again, not a typo. The fries here were something special, which is saying a lot since fries are ubiquitous. The fries were delicately crispy and delicious. -Jamon Iberico Cebi de Campo with Manchego Cheese 4/5 stars. The Jamon Iberico was good, but not great. It had a slightly weird after taste that I usually don't get from high quality Jamon Iberico. -Tarta De Queso and Churros con Chocolate 3/5 stars. These were the only two items that I was truly disappointed with. There was nothing special about these dessert items. The churros were bland. -Cucumber Mint Cooler and Devil's Day Off 5/5 stars. Both of these drinks were refreshing. The Cucumber Mint Cooler, in case you're wondering, could best be described as a well executed, non-alcoholic cucumber mojito. The Devil's Day Off was a fizzy grapefruit and cinnamon delight. I have to end this review with the service. It was top notch. Our server, Robert, was not only extremely friendly, but helpful and informative. He walked us through the menu and talked us out of ordering certain items so that we wouldn't over order food or get items too similar to one another. At one point, we were debating whether to order the Churrasco a la Plancha (8 oz ribeye) or 12 oz ribeye. One person from our family wanted the fritas that only came with the Churrasco while another person (me) wanted the 12 oz ribeye. Robert resolved the disagreement by suggesting that we just order the 12 oz ribeye and they'll throw in the fritas for free (which they did). At the end of the meal, he made sure to point out that the gratuity had already been added to the bill and that there was no need to add a tip. We appreciated the heads up, otherwise we may not have noticed that. If it's not clear from my write up, I really enjoyed this place, despite a few items that missed the mark. If it wasn't so far away from where I live, I would have been back this weekend to try out more items from the menu.

Being in a party of 4 girls coming from high tea, we were dressed in elegant dresses, first comment was asking if we were coming from church, followed by eye flutters, short "okay" with an upward inflation to a joke about the day, an impatient comment about hurrying up and trying the wine while we were talking, asked for water when we were out, were left to pour the rest of our wine, didn't ask how the food was all the while was attentive to the table behind us, the cherry on top comment was when we were discussing the bill at the end, he was hovering at the table behind ours, then when we were ready, we asked to split the bill into 2, my portion on mine and the rest on another card, he then said "this isn't like a drive through, we can't do it that way" so I asked him to explain his comment, cause it was passive agressive and rude. After he wasnt able to becuase he wasnt expecting me to call out his rude comment, I had to then break it down and specify what I had ordered, he then sold "okayyyy....so how much, cause we don't itemize?" I had to again express for him to specify how they do it cause he has still yet to explain where his attitude is coming from and explain how they do their check splits, from my understanding it just felt like he wanted to play dumb and make me to the math, one I did he was like "ohh, okay" should have asked for the manager but we paid and left, I hasnt had this experience before being a returning customer, but he needs an attitude adjustment as his attitude was completely out of pocket. Do better Manuel, you alone got your place of work a 1 star. The rest of the staff was kind, facility beautiful and food and wine was good. This restaurant is not reflected in the 1 star.
