All our years in this area.. never knew! My daughter graduated and we wanted a new spot for her fav, sushi. They were able to accommodate our family of 11. We had no idea that they had a special karaoke room!! They offered and we accepted!! The main dining was busy too. What a fantastic and fun room! Since we all would never sing in front of strangers, I can't show you our wild experience! lol! But let me tell you, we sang ! So, the food, the staff, the whole crew, AMAzING F'n Lovely people! They were perfection. Thx to Jin, thx to our lovely server, the chefs!! Wow. We sang our azzzes off and had so much fun. The food was so delish and made with love. Btw- my husband and I scored 100 singing Guns n Roses on karaoke!!! Ohhh yeahhhh!! This one s our new fav spot!!!

Wow! So glad we walked into this fine establishment. It's a perfect sushi restaurant from start to end. Exactly what you'd hope when you go to a place like this. It happened to be one of kids birthdays and they really wanted sushi and our usual places weren't gonna be opening until dinner time. Well, so happy things unfolded as the did. They gave us a great private area with a table for 5. Service was great and prompt. The food was amazing! We ordered a lot of items. The spicy tuna was a bit spicier than I'm personally used to but the hubs and kids were here for it. We ordered baked crawfish roll, dragon roll, rainbow roll, speared salmon roll, Sunkist roll, kiss of fire and my hubs made a custom one we have dubbed the ALEX roll for our son's bday. It's a Montrose roll add lemon and add salmon on top. Beautifully layered full of fish. It was truly phenomenal! Just look at the pics. Sometimes you go to sushi and you're not full when you're done but the quality and portions of Hikari Sushi were perfection. We will definitely be back regularly and I might stop by for lunch sometimes on my own just cuz I'm in the area a lot and it was so good I'm thinking about it the day after we were there. lol. Make sure to check them out ASAP!! See you guys soon!

Albacore delight - delightfully spicy!! I enjoyed it!

I heard great things about this place from friends. So I thought why not try it? Is early evening on a Thursday night and we walk in to a bit of a hectic situation. We waited for about five minutes then we're seated. It took a little bit for the server to come to our table because I believe they're shortstaffed. We're all hungry so I didn't want to wait to order so we just ordered right away. We got an order of salmon sashimi, a few albacore and salmon hand rolls, the Sunkist role, and the cucumber special roll. I have to say that the food came out fairly quick and was delicious. The portion sizes on the food were fairly large compared to other restaurants that I've been to. My Wife said that the baked mussel that we ordered for an appetizer was probably one of the best she's had ever. So you're probably wondering why I docked one star... Well, in the middle of our dinner we heard from afar, on the other side of the restaurant, a man yelling out of frustration that he's doing his best and people need to be patient. The whole restaurant went silent wondering what's going on. I have to say, when I first entered the restaurant, I instantly got the feeling that either their staff was not trained properly for a restaurant, or that they were understaffed. The man yelling later into our dinner was clearly a confirmation of this. Overall, I have to say that the food was delicious. There was literally not one thing that we complained about when he came to the food. The staff was extremely kind and courteous. Service with a smile to the tee. I hope that the existing employees either get proper training, or get additional help, whichever was needed. Regardless of the situation, I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This has always been my go-to sushi...until today. My hubby and I go to this place on special occasions. We had miso, sashimi and cucumber sushi. 30-40 min later, both are sick to our stomachs, cramps, feel light-headed. No more going there.

Hikari Sushi is an absolute standout. The sushi is incredibly fresh every time, and the owner and staff are some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. They make you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. The nigori is always served ice cold and perfect. The kids food is another reason we keep coming back. It does not taste like the microwave style chicken or the low quality beef you get at some sushi places. Everything tastes fresh, cooked properly, and made with real care, which is a huge win when you are dining with kids. If you go, make sure to try the Las Vegas roll. It is warm and creamy with amazing salmon inside and has a crispy rice exterior that makes it next level. We always leave happy. It is easily one of our favorite spots and a true gem in the area.

Went with family while visiting Cali and they did not disappoint. The service was amazing, it's a nice size retainer i had a stroller and they seated us at the back so we are not in the way. We got few rolls and sashimi and they were all great. Would defiantly go back on my next visit.

Easy to order party platters. Same day! Their ca rolls are a hit for any potluck and they are very generous with the ginger and wasabi. I placed an order that morning and it was ready for me when I asked for it. Parking is easy they have their own private lot. The assembly of the party platter is so neat and presentable with the lemon garnish and orchid.

The best service I've had in a long time! I live in Atwater Village and happened to be in the area with my partner. We saw this cute little sushi spot and decided to come in. we were immediately seated. German, was our server. 10/10 he made sure our food came in a promptly manner. Everything was fresh and delicious. The music and ambience was also super delightful and pleasant. We ordered the albacore delight and crunch deep roll, also 10/10! Thank you German for making this our new date spot, wish I could leave a 10 star review. Thanks again!!

The ambience is amazing here, from the décor to the staff and the music. My friend and I just came from a hike and was craving sushi. She said she had been to this spot before and it has good sushi. It is in a nice area surrounded by other food places and a couple of shopping centers. Hikari's does share a parking lot and it was packed when I arrived. The parking lot is shared with other business, so I understood why it was packed. But back to the sushi, my friend did not disappoint. Before we ordered, our sever, Jin, was very engaging asking us how our day was and engaged in conversation with us. Very pleasant. He started us off with Jino's. We ordered the grape, peach, and strawberry flavors. I've never had one before and all three were delicious. It gives off a kind of alcoholic soda beverage taste. We then ordered the spicy salmon roll, Super Mexican Roll, Hot Night Roll and the In and out Shrimp roll. Everything was fresh, spicy but not too spicy and it was cooked perfectly, you could taste the different flavors in each roll. Ann, who was the sever who brought out our rolls, was also a ton of laughter's and fun. We stayed longer because of the good company as well as the good food. Definitely will be back.

This spot is truly an absolute gem. We were warmly welcomed by the host and seated right away at the bar. The chef greeted us personally, and although there was a bit of a language barrier, he was incredibly sweet and patient while explaining each course and where the fish was sourced from. You could really tell how much care and pride went into every piece. Everything tasted so fresh and beautifully prepared. Each course flowed perfectly into the next, and by the end of the meal, we were surprisingly very full (which doesn't always happen with omakase!). To top it all off, we were treated to a homemade matcha cake with a candle, which was such a thoughtful and memorable birthday touch. It wasn't too busy during our visit, which we actually loved because it made the entire experience feel more intimate, just like other omakase experiences we've had. As we walked through the room, we noticed that every empty table had a "Reserved" sign on it. Yet in the entire hour we spent eating, not a single person or group came in and sat at any of those reserved tables. The hostess was somewhat rude and seemed to have a sense of urgency for us to hurry up and not waste a breath ordering, which made us feel rushed. Given how empty the place was, there was no reason for her urgency. The sushi and rolls we ordered were okay--very fresh--but the rolls didn't have much flavor. We had one roll with fried onions; it would have been nice if the onions were fresh, but they were obviously cooked long before and were cold and stale. We were the only two people at the very long sushi bar, and the sushi chefs kept placing orders for other tables directly in front of us over the bar, so the wait staff had to continually reach over our heads with other people's food. I will not eat here again and will not recommend it to anyone.

The menu isn't too expensive, which is nice so you're not paralyzed by indecision. You can either go for à la carte or go for hand rolls sets. My friend went for the Taste of the Bar set and I did the four hand roll set. We shared a blue crab don. I say, if you're gonna come here, you should just go all out and do the taste of the bar set. I did the four hand roll set and it came with pretty standard handrolls that you can kind of get anywhere. (if you like predictability then this is a great set.) however if you want to try what The Bar is better known for, then the Taste of the Bar or the Lux set gives you a good idea of their special handrolls. The salmon truffle isn't too truffle-y and the HYE is indeed good. I'd recommend going for these instead of standard handrolls since you can literally get those anywhere. The blue crab don was good but nothing so spectacular that I'd have to go out my way to get it again. Good to have once and it was nice to go back to between handrolls for the avocado bits. But otherwise I'd skip in the future. Nice experience. Cute place while at Americana. They do not validate parking.

The interior has a modern aesthetic and even on a Wednesday evening, it was packed with a wait. We didn't have to wait too long, but as we ate and had dinner I noticed that it was full consistently. We sat down and they have have a wide array of items on their menu. We went with 3 dinner specials which have a small options (one has tempura, another with a California Roll. and one with Both) safe to we ordered one of each. For Apps we got some Edamame and Kaarage. For Rolls, we went with Rainbow Roll and Catapillar Roll. Starting with apps, the edamame to me was good a touch less salt which was great for my father. The karaage was flavorful with that sesame taste and juicy interiror. To me it was rather small compared to what I am used to, but flavor wise on par. The Rainbow roll is a staple anywhere I go for the first time as that gives me the array of fish with a California roll. The fish was fresh tasting and to me was fine. My slight disappointment was with the Caterpillar Roll, my parents just returned from Japan and the first thing they compared the roll to was what they experienced over there. Not a fair comparison, but none the less I am posting it here as refence as I see the same in surrounding restuarants here. The dinner special comes with Miso Soup, Salad, Protein of choice, and a choice of side (tempura, California Roll, or both). We each got one of the combinations. The Chicken Teriyaki was juicy and good compared to what I normally get from similar restaurants. Overall, a good choice if your simply looking for something balanced. What won me over, was the service. The place was packed and the staff and manager were out there doing what they can, but I didn't hear a single complaint around the restaurant. Not about the wait times, nor the food, and that matters. A small interaction that I happened to pick up, was one of the staff helping an elderly gentleman put on his coat. A small gesture but to me means the world. If they can take a second to do that for him, they really care about your experience. As a local favorite, I can highly recommend this place not just that the food is good, but because service tipped my scale. Mind the place was packed and smiles all around from everyone. I will be back if I am around, I am so glad I was able to finally check this one off my list!
