I got a haircut with Sue, despite reading numerous good reviews about her, and it was an absolute disaster. I had very long, thick, and wavy hair, and I wanted to cut it to mid-length with long layers in the back. I showed her the length I wanted and a few pictures of the layers I envisioned. I specifically requested that she show me the length before cutting and give me some recommendations for the front, considering my wavy hair. She completely ignored my requests. Not only did she fail to provide any recommendations, but she also didn't show me the length before cutting. Instead, she cut my hair super short, including the layers, which are now incredibly choppy and uneven. My hair looks like an absolute mess, especially after washing when it becomes naturally wavy. This is hands down the worst haircut I've ever received. Sue did not listen to a single thing I wanted and arrogantly did whatever she pleased. She was extremely dismissive throughout the appointment. I am beyond disappointed and will never be coming back here. read more

Nina was recommended by a client of hers and with good reason as I'm visiting the area for an extended period of a month to be with my newly born granddaughter and badly needed to give my hair some attention. LONG REVIEW AHEAD- I need to thoroughly explain my dreadful experience. I am absolutely not returning here. I received a groupon gift (full haircut, conditioning treatment and full highlights or ombre [I chose ombre]) and I was more than excited to use it here! I was a bit nervous to come in due to the reviews here on Yelp. My excitement immediately went away as soon as I stepped into the door. I presented Sue with the voucher and she kept telling me to press redeem. It was a gift, so there was no "redeem" button. She told me to keep calling the person who gave me the gift to try and fix this. It was complicated for a good 20 minutes. I had to pay an extra $50 on top of the Groupon deal. Upon entering the shop, there was a shop dog. I went down to pet it (trust me, I'm so gentle and I love dogs so I know how to approach them), and this little dog snarled and snapped at me. I don't know about you, but if there's a dog that's trying to bite my leg off, I'm already feeling uncomfortable. Sue actually leg the dog off the leash after witnessing this behavior. Um, hello!? Anyway, let's get to my haircut and ombre. I have REALLLY long hair, going down past my waist. I told Sue I wanted to add layers and cut off 4-5 inches. She proceeded to YANK, not brush (I kid you not) on my hair and it hurt so bad. I could hear some pieces of hair getting ripped out of my skull. After that, she held my hair in front of my body and literally cut 5 inches off in a straight line. I thought she was going to cut it more and add more layers, but nope, she was done with my haircut, all in about 5 minutes. Alrighty then... Moving on to the ombre. I told her I wanted my hair to ombre into an ash brown/grey color. Every other salon I've went to took their time while applying color to my dark hair. She glanced at the picture I showed her and disappeared to make the color. When she came back, I asked her if she knew what color I wanted because she hardly even looked at the picture. She assured me, yes, it'll be a beautiful, ash grey color. She took probably between only 7-10 minutes to apply the color to my hair. I sat under the heat for a while and then we went to the sink to add toner. I was sitting at the sink with the toner in my hair for TWO HOURS. I thought she forgot about me at some point. She cut like, 8 people's hair, cleaned the shop and ignored me. FOR TWO HOURS. Alright, so when she rinsed and washed my hair, I. WAS. BLONDE. Definitely no grey or ash tones that she'd promised. It wasn't the color I wanted, but the damage was done so I was okay with it. After yanking my hair again and styling it, she insisted I buy the grey shampoo. I wasn't about to spend $40 on a shampoo for grey hair when my hair wasn't grey whatsoever. We said goodbye. Fast forward a week. I washed my hair once and the color faded immensely. Strands of my hair are back to dark brown/black. After one wash with shampoo that is specifically designed for blonde hair. I called her to see if she could do a color correction, and she said it was my fault because only her brand of shampoo would work to help sustain the color. I've never heard of this in my entire life. After settling for the color she gave me that I didn't want, she wouldn't even fix it. Save yourself the trouble. You're going to end up spending $100+ here anyway, so take your money to an actual salon where the stylists won't half ass their work and blame you for why it went wrong. read more

I changed my review 2 times because at first I felt it was good. started to notice a lot of mistakes. She did partial of my highlights when I went in for full highlights. Not only that she used a toner after when my hair is clearly dark, so surprisingly it did tone is a little into a gold brown. A few day after washing my hair. I noticed it fading and google about toners. Toners are semi permanent only works if you have light hair to begin with. I have been going to House of Style for a few years and Sue (owner) is absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for Maria, who cuts kids' hair. My 9 year old son has been growing his hair out for a full year and just needed a trim. I was very clear in my instructions to her, to just give a trim, long back and just trim the sides, especially the bangs. Instead of a trim, my poor son got a buzz from the neck and ended up with a mullet. To make matters worse, Maria kept lecturing me about how this suits him better than the long hair he wanted to keep. She didn't have the decency to apologize nor acknowledge her mistake and just kept lecturing me, even after I asked her to stop it. Never, ever, ever am I going back there. Sorry Sue, your employees are letting sinking your reputation. My poor son has been so disheartened and he never got an apology. read more

I would NOT go to this salon for any service. I just filed a complaint with the Board of Cosmetology to revoke the license of "Amy" or Tran Vuong. My daughter came in for a simple trim and ended up losing half of her hair when Amy used bleach on her hair incorrectly to remove blue dye. My daughter left the salon devastated and we have since been told her hair will take YEARS to grow back what was cut/lost/damaged. We have followed up with them to let them know what happened and ask for a refund - they are unapologetic. They yell at me on the phone, tell me that I am harrassing them (I have only called twice) and they tell me only Jesus knows what happened and to go find him. It is extremely odd. I want to save anyone from this terrible experience that we went through. read more

I made an appointment with sue for my daughters haircut, she's a toddler. I realize this wasn't a children's haircut place but I needed someone relatively last minute because my kid wanted a hair cut. We got there. No one greeted us when we came in. After standing there for about 5 minutes finally someone came up to us and asked if we had an appointment. I said yes I made it with sue. She pointed outside at a lady on her phone sitting outside the salon and said that was her. I told her we were here for an appointment. She came in and greeted us. My daughter is 3 so she gave her a booster for her chair. She pulled her hair down from her ponytail. Then she proceeded to put gel in my toddlers hair and cut it with a bunch of gel in it??? Whyyyy? Why put that crap in my kids hair. Then after it was cut and a sticky mess, she proceeded to put the whole thing in a messy sort of French braid that I could have done myself and used some more gel to make it all hold together. My toddler loved it so I'm giving an extra star for that but typically when I pay for a hair cut I'm hoping to walk out looking better than when I came in. This wasn't the case. Not coming back here.
