This morning (Friday, 23 January 2026), I paid a visit to House of Time in Gainesville, FL, to see about having an old pocket watch repaired. I handed the watch to the lady working the front showroom and shared what I knew about the watch's provenance; I also mentioned that I had just casually looked online for information about the maker (Wuesteman), the watch itself, etc. Before I could continue (to mention that I was interested in having my watch repaired), the woman, in a very harsh tone, said, "If you are looking for information, you will have to talk to my boss." To say that I was shocked by her abrupt interruption is a gross understatement. I quickly considered how the conversation had progressed up to that point and came to a conclusion. That she assumed I was only looking for information about the watch was, in my opinion, arrogant. After I asked her to return my watch to me, I replied to her - in a similar tone of voice - words to this effect: "You just made a big mistake. I was going to ask if my watch could be repaired. You assumed that I was only looking for information. You ASSUMED that." With that, I walked out the door. Yes, I could have continued with my request after her initial reply. A fully rational person might have been able to do that, but the manner in which she spoke to me soured any desire I might have had to do business with this establishment. I am reminded of the old saying, "You get only one chance to make a first impression." Bearing that in mind, someone with a more personable affect in customer-facing situations would be a great improvement to your business. read more

I brought a watch that I bought online to have authenticated at House of Time. While the watch was real, Michael was so informative and spent some time showing me the poor craftsmanship that was done. He went over and above explaining things about the watch and even did a depth test on the watch which it failed! He didn't even charge me! I'm so happy that I went to House of Time because if I didn't, I would have lost $17K on a defective watch. read more

I have been a customer at Lentz for at least 15 years. Both the older and younger generation operating the facility have been among the most helpful and informative service providers I've been around. The renovated facility is a joy to visit. Three years ago, I bought a wonderful clock from them to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary with my wife. I was provided expert training on its care and operation and it still functions perfectly for us. Yesterday, Wednesday, I brought my antique watch into House of Time to be looked at and met the owner Michal Blaszcyk for the first time. He routinely takes "walk-ins" Thursday through Saturdays and works by appointment Monday through Wednesday. I would strongly suggest that you call ahead and make an appointment. I did not call ahead but was fortunate enough to catch Michal as he was returning from an errand told him that I had driven 1+ hours to see him. He was extremely gracious and welcomed me into his facility. I use the term facility because although he does sell time pieces, his focus and passion is working on high end, antique or collectable watches. He is both WOSTEP and CW21 ( American Watchmakers- Clockmakers Institute) certified. His facility is maticulas and has the capability if needed to manufacture parts that may no longer be available. He takes the time to look at your timepiece show and review his finding and provide you with an accurate assessment of repairs that my be needed. I truly received an education on watches and watch repair. If you are in need of a place or person to work on you high end, antique or collectable timepiece look no further but beware! I've lived in Gainesville since 1980. Lentz House of Time is the only place I take my watches for service. My 1st visit to their shop decades ago convinced me that I needed to look no further. What separates them from other shops is that they're trained and certified in both watch and clock making not in just routine service and repairs. This mattered in my situation because my treasured Tissot watch needed an involved repair. I left the Tissot with him and called two weeks later. Mike, the owner, explained his diagnosis, and indulged my curiosity about the repair and was charged what I considered a fair price. I couldn't ask for more. On the off chance that my Garmin watch/fitness tracker could be repaired, I took it to Lentz House of Time in Gainesville. I was surprised that they were even interested in taking a look at it! Unfortunately, not everything can be fixed. The two people who helped me (I'm sorry I don't know their names) were so friendly and honest with me. I had a Christmas tree ornament that had ceased to operate. I called and was instructed to bring the ornament into the store. Although they were not equipped to repair the ornament, they led me to sources that were in the line of work of which I was so in need. I would highly recommend this business as they understand the customer and if they can't fix it due to something being outside their sphere of expertise, they didn't drop the ball but directed me to people who could handle the needed repair. I had two watches that I took to Lentz. One needed a new battery and band the other a link removed to fit my wrist. I was in-and-out in less than 30 minutes! The cost for the service and items was perfectly acceptable for the minuscule amount of time I actually spent in the store. Had a very rare Rolex that stopped and needed service. I was hesitant to go here as there were so many negative reviews. I went in to see the shop and was very impressed with the test equipment and left the watch. It took a while to get the Rolex parts and within the 6-8 weeks it would take I got a call at 5 that it was finished. These guys are not cheap but they are very good at watch repairs. They don't fix Casio watches as I do know that parts are very hard to get. Anna does not do any fast and dirty repairs but only will "do it the right way". I feel these are solid honest business folks and a pleasure to do business right with the family of owners. They have earned my repeat business. read more

I have been a Rolex owner since 1973, and have had my watch serviced by everyone from Rolex in Dallas to local Rolex repair shops - I can honestly say that my experience with House of Time was outstanding. A few years ago, my GMT-Master was due for a service, and I took it there. They immediately evaluated it, and gave me a very detailed estimate, and noted that there were several non-Rolex parts inside, and recommended replacement with genuine parts. They did a complete overhaul of the watch, and since then, it has never run or looked better. That was 3 years ago, and it continues to run flawlessly. I liked their work so much, I had my son and daughter take THEIR Rolexes to them, and they had the same experience. Today, I dropped off an antique clock for repair, and they offered to check the timing on my GMT-Master - not only was it well within Rolex specs, they even pressure tested the case, and polished the crystal - all for free!!! These are real old-world craftsmen who know what they are doing and are entirely honest and honorable. I HAVE and WILL continue to trust them with my family heirlooms. We have an antique floor model clock that has been moved (carefully) several times and has continued to run and keep very good time - until the last move. Following the last move, the beat was off and the clock would run for no more the 10-15 minutes. I took the clock in to Lentz and received an estimate for over $2000 for a complete service - and an estimated 4-5 months to complete the job. When asked if there was something less involved they could do to get the clock running, the reply was "we're not allowed to do anything less than what we quoted ......". I picked the clock up and asked another person knowledgeable in clocks for an opinion. I was told that if the clock was properly leveled and the problem persisted (which it did), the problem was probably that the "verge" needed adjusting; and this adjustment was explained. So with no tools, and very little knowledge of clocks, I adjusted the verge and the clock runs fine. So for no cost and 4-5 minutes work, I avoided a $2000+ expenditure and being without the clock 4-5 months. Need I say more? read more

Beware they say the are a Rolex repair station they are not according to Rolex Dallas Texas. I have had a very bad experience there. I brought in my Rolex Steel and Gold Submariner. When I brought the watch in to Lentz it was intact, when I got it back they had intentionally knocked out the pearl piece in the 12 o'clock position. I called Lentz on the intentionally knocked out part they wanted 165.00 to replace it even after it was their fault. They changed their story 3 different times as to why the part was not on my watch when I got it back.. During the same visit I also brought in my wife's lady President gold and steel to get an estimate on cleaning an repairing as necessary. Their appraisal came back at 1270.00 dollars. I became suspicious and called Rolex in Dallas Texas. that is when I found out that they are not an authorized Rolex repair station. Rolex said Rolex cleans and replaces worn parts for 500.00 dollars. Do not do business Lentz they lie they cheat and they break parts on your watches to get business. Beware in my opinion and experience they are not a reputable or honest business. I also found out that their Rolex repairs had to be reworked by authorized dealers because their work was substandard. read more
