We purchased a brand new townhome in Temecula and needed plantation shutters for our windows and roller shades installed for our sliding glass doors. I had House to Home Window Coverings did the shutters for the whole house. It took 2 months to get it installed. Jonathan did the initial measuring of the windows and the sliding door. But another guy came in and did another measuring. I went with Jonathan because I saw his work on my neighbor's house, and I told Jonathan that I like my shutters the same as my neighbor with the bottom railing on the shutters at the sliding door. But when the installer came, there was no railing at the bottom and whenever I slide the outer shutter, it never sits on the inside of the frame. I need to push it in so it will sit inside the frame. This issue is almost a year now and still never been fix. The bad thing too is he never give me a status of the repair unless I call to remind him. So still waiting for it to be fixed... Update, 3/24/25: I texted Jonathan regarding the issue again and since I did the review on 3/9/25. he was mad since I gave him a bad review and I told him why i did this since the issue is almost a year. I told him too that I will look for someone to fix this issue and will just charge him for whatever it will cost. Today, i shutter guy i found came to check on the issue and suggested to change everything, but it will cost $2,250. I told the guy to wait till i get confirmation from Jonathan if he is good with the price quoted to me, so I msg Jonathan. But now Jonathan msg me back and he said that he's not paying me anything. Bad thing, we're going to court. Suggest not to have Jonathan do your shutters since he has a bad customer service, never provide you status unless you call or msg him, took a long time to get your shutters installed and if you have issue will take forever or will not get fixed. I think Jonathan is only a middleman, ordering the shutters somewhere and getting someone to install them too. His initial measurements is just for quotation, another person will do the actual measurements to get your shutters ordered. With this happening now, will downgrade my rating from 2 stars to 1 star. I'll share a little about our 2 experiences: 1) Our first install was at the home we were renting. A set of blinds got destroyed, so we needed to replace them. John came, took measurements quickly, and provided us a quote that beat out the competitors. The blinds were ready in about 2 weeks and install was done within minutes! The blinds fit perfectly in the window and looked amazing. 2) Our second install is at our new home. We decided on roller shades. John came prepared with fabric samples and gave suggestions based on current trends. We decided on a neutral color (light beige textured fabric with subtle brown accents (light filtering on most windows, and black out on 2 windows). Jon never responds to your phone calls in a timely manner, if at all. Sure, his price out beats the lowest bidders...but as with any lower price, expect a slightly cheaper quality and poorer customer service (ie communication). Personally, I would not recommend him solely based on his unprofessional response times. He is the "owner" but honestly gives the vibes of just a typical sales guy.... once he has your sale he ghosts you for awhile. 1st UPDATE and response to Heather T: Hi Heather T. Not sure who you are, as I've never met you before. I guess I'll assume you are Jon's wife? And I guess I'll read between the lines here with Jon failing to answer my call tonight that he won't be delivering the extra blind slats for my sliding glass door tomorrow? Funny timing... you waited this long to respond with your true feelings, the day before he promised delivery of my blinds. This may be a leap, but I'm assuming Jon never ordered the blinds in the first place. Go figure! Oh and thank you so so much for your rather thorough explanation of a typical business's processes... I wish it was that simple with House 2 Home WC. You forgot to sprinkle in the repeated failed communications by Jon, slowing down and frustrating the whole process. Most people I know who have received blinds from Jon feel the same way! But in the end they are just thankful to be done with the ordeal and get the blinds, hoping not to have to interact again. I guess I'll address the comment about "withheld funds" too...I mean, why not at this point? I did briefly "withhold funds" if that's what you call it...until my customer satisfaction was met by Jon finally coming to my house to address product concerns. I promptly delivered funds after he was able to provide reassurance that the thinness (cheap quality) was standard and the static charge of the blinds would resolve in due time (just take some dryer sheets to them he said...lol ok Jon). Perhaps customer satisfaction and communication aren't your top priorities. Hence, again, the reason for my original post and why you deserve a 1 star review. And no Jon, I won't take my original post down now... Friendly tip: Customer service businesses should never tear down their customers. Jon was not able to pressure me into taking it down, despite his several calls to my partner and I asking that we do so. When I did not remove it, he (and/or his wife) tried to save face by posting statements to discredit me as a unworthy customer. But again, I did not sway from my review and remain here still, loud and proud...with my 1 star. My hope is that my 1 star review will HELP others to think carefully before using this business . 2. "I contacted your vendor for more product after complaining of its cheap quality." Yep, I did this. I contacted Jon's vendor (Sundance Window Coverings) for more product, all while complaining of its cheap quality. At face value, this would make me seem like a hypocrite. However, this is clearly just another attempt to discredit my review while misconstruing the situation. You see, the cheap quality of the product was the very reason I HAD TO contact Sundance for more product...it was for "replacement" product. The backstory is...several months ago, Jon installed the original slats for my backyard sliding glass door. Unfortunately, they looked super flimsy/cheap and I was not happy with them. I almost had Jon take them down and look at other options. However, once Jon finally came to my house to address my concerns, I settled on just keeping them. At the time, he agreed to order 10 extra replacement slats "just in case" some blinds fell/got pulled down. To me, it was only a matter of time before a slat or two fell down with slider movement (especially since I have 3 little kids). Long story short, as you know, Jon never delivered on this order. And here we are. By calling the vendor (Sundance), I was able to get the names of other companies in my area who can service my simple order request. This was my attempt as a customer to feel empowered with knowledge and resources--an attempt to get the product I need. I have since ordered with another company the 10 extra slats to replace any of the "cheap" slats that Jon installed. Simply put, I have done what I can to prepare to fix any gaping hole in my slider blinds (should I face one in the near future). The last thing I want to say here is I recognize my slats were a small order for Jon. Perhaps that's really why they were so easily forgotten and my inquiries ignored. My follow on order was just too small to matter. I'll rest quietly with my convictions now. read more
