I've been bringing my dogs here for years first my late dog, and now my current miniature schnauzer. If you look back at my previous review photos, you'll see the PERFECT schnauzer cut they used to do. Consistent. Professional. Distinguished little gentleman energy. Recently though, scheduling became nearly impossible. Every conversation sounded like: "Let me confirm if our groomer is actually working that day..." After weeks of trying to coordinate schedules, my schnauzer's hair got longer than ever. He loves wearing shirts, so yes, he had some matting. I paid extra for de-matting and gave very clear instructions: shave the skirt, but keep a full beard along with his chest and paws fluffy. Y'all... when I picked him up, I genuinely did not recognize my own dog. He walked in looking like a miniature schnauzer and walked out looking like a scrappy chihuahua named Peanut. They shaved EVERYTHING. His entire body, his face, even his whiskers. HIS WHISKERS. WTF. I know hair grows back and thankfully it's summer, but I honestly felt bad for him. As someone with longer hair myself, if somebody sat me down and buzzed me to the skin without warning, I'd probably need emotional support and a hoodie for a month. My dog still seems happy and unbothered, but I'm traumatized enough for both of us. After years of loyalty, this was incredibly disappointing and totally unacceptable. We will never come back..

From the first stay, I could tell they actually understand dogs, not just watch them. He came back relaxed, clean, and acting like himself, which says everything. The communication was solid, and I didn't have to chase anyone for updates. Place is clean, staff is friendly, and more importantly, they know what they're doing. I trust them with my dog, and that's not something I say lightly.

Kerry and every member of her team care deeply about the dogs under their watch, and that care is demonstrative throughout the whole BLTDHTX experience, whether day-boarding, night-boarding, or grooming. At the time, Pop Tart and I had known each other for only about a month. I was still potty training her, I knew very little about her previous training and I had no idea how she would behave around other dogs. She was sweet, but I live in Downtown Houston, and downtown life frightened her. That random recommendation from a stranger was a blessing! Today, all I have to say is, "Do you want to go to school?" Pop Tart immediately knows what I mean. We drive there with her window down, she recognizes the route and she can barely wait to get out of the car. Once inside, she makes a point of greeting every single member of the front office staff before she is escorted back to play. The shy dog I adopted has become confident, social and playful... a little bit bossy! Pop Tart plays well with big dogs, small dogs and takes every opportunity to zoom. For those of us who live in downtown apartments, having a safe, consistent place with both indoor and outdoor play areas is invaluable. I love that the wood fence protects the dogs from being watched or triggered by the street. BLDH has also become an important part of our community. I have met other pet parents through the business and some of our dogs now have play dates outside of school. Her 'classmates' even came to Pop Tart's birthday party! ***My entire family follows BLDH on social media because everyone feels invested in Pop Tart's days there. And they're obsessed with the content.*** The quality of care is deeply personal. Everyone knows Pop Tart. They send photos, communicate quickly and call whenever something is off, whether she has an upset stomach or has rolled herself in chalk!!! Kerry is easy to reach by email and is often available to talk in person. The daycare team is first class. We have also used training, grooming and boarding. Angel is an excellent trainer who provides detailed updates, thoughtful advice and homework that has helped both Pop Tart and me. Pop Tart now walks beautifully on a leash, can sit, lie down and stay, and I know how to redirect her when necessary. Cris has somehow managed to get her to enjoy bath time. When work emergencies have happened, BLDH has even accommodated last-minute boarding requests. That has been HUGE for me! I love that the business is locally owned, cage-free and genuinely designed around the comfort of the little dogs. Boarding dogs sleep on beds, not in cages. The online booking system is easy, the events calendar helps me plan my schedule and their social media updates about activities and last-minute grooming availability are useful. They also offer thoughtful extras, including CPR classes and lower weekend daycare rates. I do not trust anyone else to watch Pop Tart when I am away. BLDH gives her fun, exercise, structure, affection and a place where she feels completely at home. They give both of us individual attention and I truly believe they care about our lives, not simply our business. These are dog lovers who get paid to love our dogs. That is what makes this place so special.

I can't say enough great things about Ernesto!! We have been with Pet Buddy Houston for a little…read moreover a year now, and I trust no one more with my pups than I do him. He is very reliable, can 9 times out of 10 help you out in a bind or last minute situation, and is very responsive to all emails/texts/calls. We have let him stay in our house for days, dog walk, and even make a quick trip to pick our dogs up from day care and get them back to the house. Pricing is extremely reasonable, and he offers discounts for things that most people would not even think to do. He sends you an invoice via email and you can pay it via Paypal, which is extremely convenient. Lastly, my pup Bentley ADORES him. All I have to say is, "Bentley, 'Nesto is coming!" and he freaks out. To me, that proves how great he is with the dog. He has experience as a vet tech, so I trust him and occasionally ask his opinion when my dog has something going on. I know that in the event something happened to one of my pups while we were away, they would be in great medical hands as well. His business is now thriving even in the year or so I have worked with him, and there is no doubt as to why. He comes very highly recommended by myself and my husband, and we could not be happier with Ernesto's phenomenal service.

After interviewing many pet sitters, posting ads, asking for recommendations from vets, and friends, we decided to hire PetBuddy Houston. It was one of the best decisions we've made for our animals in a long time. We love Ernesto! And so do our pups. When he comes over they jump all over him, and our snobby Pomeranian Mix even claws at Ernesto to be picked up! Having our pup even like someone is a great feat, so to have him begging to be picked up let us know what we found the perfect pet sitter! Thank you, PetBuddy Houston for helping me to travel without worry. I never though I'd see the day. You all are the best. We are so happy to have found you!

Marissa, Claire and Lindsay (who has since moved away) were all so great with our 3 cats, all of which have specific quirks and special requirements. The cats loved all of their visits as evidenced by the many photos and videos they would send us afterwards. All the ladies clearly adore animals and take special care to treat your fur babies as if they were their own. We are also so thankful for the extra assistance provided by Claire when we were away for a longer period of time, during which our realtor was doing viewings of the property and bringing in potential tenants. She helped to keep the house clean, tidy and free of cat hair / tracked litter all over the floor, she would also brush the cats daily and brought some toys round to play with them as theirs were all packed up in anticipation of our move. We're so very sad to lose these ladies as pet sitters, and can only hope to find someone else in our new neighborhood who will love and care for our cats when we travel as well as they did.
