I don't usually write reviews, but Korob Pet Hotel deserves it. I have a beagle, so leaving him anywhere is never easy. From the first stay, I could tell they actually understand dogs, not just watch them. He came back relaxed, clean, and acting like himself, which says everything. The communication was solid, and I didn't have to chase anyone for updates. Place is clean, staff is friendly, and more importantly, they know what they're doing. I'm convinced this place is under new ownership... or at the very least they hired Edward Scissorhands' exhausted cousin. I've been bringing my dogs here for years first my late dog, and now my current miniature schnauzer. If you look back at my previous review photos, you'll see the PERFECT schnauzer cut they used to do. Consistent. Professional. Distinguished little gentleman energy. Recently though, scheduling became nearly impossible. Every conversation sounded like: "Let me confirm if our groomer is actually working that day..." After weeks of trying to coordinate schedules, my schnauzer's hair got longer than ever. He loves wearing shirts, so yes, he had some matting. I paid extra for de-matting and gave very clear instructions: shave the skirt, but keep a full beard along with his chest and paws fluffy. Y'all... when I picked him up, I genuinely did not recognize my own dog. He walked in looking like a miniature schnauzer and walked out looking like a scrappy chihuahua named Peanut. They shaved EVERYTHING. His entire body, his face, even his whiskers. HIS WHISKERS. WTF. I know hair grows back and thankfully it's summer, but I honestly felt bad for him. As someone with longer hair myself, if somebody sat me down and buzzed me to the skin without warning, I'd probably need emotional support and a hoodie for a month. My dog still seems happy and unbothered, but I'm traumatized enough for both of us. After years of loyalty, this was incredibly disappointing and totally unacceptable. I just took a tour and All I can say is never trust the photos you see online. I was so excited to see this "luxury pet hotel" and what I saw was a rundown building. The walls were falling apart the detectors were falling down. It was so hot the lady told me 77 degrees. It was dirty and when I saw the grooming room it smelled so bad and was musty and there were dogs staying in that room. Overall it makes me sad to see that a place that says they treat dogs and a family member would have a place looking this gross and run down. I would never leave my babies at this location. To the owner please do better and actually try to fix and clean and honestly paint. This place is not luxurious it is rundown! I would NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy. My 2 year old 20 lb goldendoodle checked in healthy and happy and checked out with a BROKEN PELVIS and had to undergo surgery due to korob's neglect. I boarded my two goldendoodles for a week here while I was out of the country and received a text midair on my way home that "something had happened to Stuart" Stuart is my 2 year old 20 lb goldendoodle. I texted back immediately and told them I was midair on a 12 hour flight and could not call them and told them to text me updates and they did not respond. So I spent 12 hours on this flight thinking my dog died. When I landed I immediately called them and was told that Stuart broke his pelvis while under their supervision and was going to need surgery to fix his pelvis. They could not give me a clear explanation how this happened and the story kept changing with each worker we talked to. Apparently they also left him alone overnight with a broken pelvis without any pain medication until the following morning when they realized he could not put any weight on his back leg. To this day, I don't know how he broke his pelvis at korob. After a $6000 dollar surgery at gulf coast vet in Houston and a bunch of plates and screws and several months of pain, my poor dog is finally back to normal. I am so TRAUMATIZED by this whole ordeal I have not boarded my dogs or allowed them to go to daycare since the incident and I don't know if I can ever trust anyone else to care for them. Please do not board your precious fur babies here. PS: one of workers at korob somehow got my contact number a week following the incident and told me one of the night workers at korob was known to be abusive to the dogs there. So far I've boarded my black lab Alex here about a dozen times whenever I go out of town for short term trips. Like many dog owners, I consider my dog to be like my kid and I truly trust this place. Before boarding him for the first time they happily took me on a tour of the facilities. Everything seems clean and secure. I also like their system of certifying dogs before allowing them to play in groups for "potty time." You have to pay a small fee but they watch your dog for a few hours to make sure they'll play nicely. That makes me feel good knowing my lab won't be dealing with aggressive dogs. Also, once your dog is certified they essentially get a couple hours of play time during each day of boarding - at no additional cost. I think that's a great deal! Their drop off and pick up hours are reasonable and the process is usually really fast. All the staff I've met are really friendly and genuinely seem to like dogs. Today when I picked up my lab Alex I was so happy to learn one of them spent time cuddling with him and even took a video of it for their Instagram page. The only way I think this place could be improved is if they offered a "basic dog wash" for simple breeds like labradors. Unless I'm mistaken the only wash they offer is more of a grooming type deal for $50+ on larger dogs. I'd love a simple hose and shampoo option for less money and have a fresh smelling dog at pickup. However, he doesn't smell nearly as bad as how my other dogs have smelled returning from other kennels which makes me think this place is cleaner and/or better ventilated than most! read more

Review for: Daycare We have been bringing our Boykin spaniel Finn here for a few months now and I would highly recommend to anyone who lives in the museum district or works in the med center. The hours are amazing (6 am to 7 pm), which is great if you're a healthcare professional or anyone that gets to work early and/or leaves late. They have package deals and it's a great deal for a big day of play. Finn always comes home exhausted and is making tons of friends. He's a very happy boy coming here while we work all day and can't give him the attention he needs. They have an Instagram and frequently post videos of the dogs playing which is fun to see your doggo having the time of their lives playing. I love when my doggos come here for a spaw day. See what I did there? I amuse myself. Typically we do the bath and brush out which is about $45 for one medium sized dog, but today we decided to give them a full groom which costs about $75 for each medium sized dog. The staff is very attentive and they are always friendly. I feel at ease when I drop them off, because I know they are in caring and gentle hands. I also love how you can choose from 3 different scents (coconut, wild berry, and lavender). Our favorite is the lavender. They smell so gooood! Another pro is they don't leave the pups locked up all day. They take them out to play with the other doggos at certain times throughout the day. I love the location as well. It's nestled in the museum district, so afterwards you can take them to Hermann Park for a long walk, or walk down the street to hang out on the patio at Lucille's for a cold beverage. Parking is never a problem, as there are plenty of spots on the street. Beware, it is metered parking, but if you are going in and out, it's usually never a problem. read more

The last time I picked him up from grooming/daycare he had discharge coming from his eyes and could barely open them. I took him to the vet ($200+) and he ended up having ulcers in both eyes.. likely due to chemical burn (shampoo)... I called to inquire if they noticed him scratching at his eyes and they informed me no... that is concerning because I noticed it as soon as they brung him out to me... While this was a terrible incident that caused a lot of difficulty, I can say that I did speak with the owners of the business and they offered to compensate me for all expenses including Teddy's stay, medical bills, training that he can no longer keep up without collar and were generous. The owner seemed very genuine and like a true dog lover. Unfortunately she was not present while all of this occurred and was terribly upset to learn what happened. It's unfortunate the staff was so negligent but she assured me internal changes are being made to ensure this does not ever happen again. She has done what she can to make the situation right and is still actively investigating what occurred. I do believe had she been there this would have never occurred and I don't think it's a reflection of the owners or the company she has built but rather a lack of attentiveness from the employees that were present during Teddy's stay. read more

Just FYI, the dogs are kept outside for daycare. This is different from when Korob first opened and there weren't as many dogs - they used to be kept inside. There are misters and a small kiddie pool for them to keep cool and they are supposedly taken inside during the hottest time of the day. I believe there's someone out there that watches the dogs too. I've noticed that my dogs are superrrr parched when they get home. And that they pee the second they get out of daycare. I assume there's a place for them to pee in daycare, but that my dogs just won't pee there? I would really feel more comfortable if they installed cameras. read more

Horrible customer service from Danielle the manager. The most rude individual ever. Met us at the entrance and said "we shouldn't be here bc she told my husband that our dog had a shot that expired yesterday" my husband confirmed that he sent the record over the day prior to the email address he was given. Once I went back in she still had an attitude and told me to my face he must have wrote down the wrong email bc she gave him the right one. Then she said the email he used only goes to their manager/ owner. I asked her how welder would he have gotten that email unless someone gave it to him? Today I have taken my service dog to Korob pet hotel for grooming. My dog is a small poodle that weights 13 lbs. When I booked by phone, the lady told me that the price will be 65$ taxes included. They took 3 hours to do the grooming, but at least the haircut was good. However they overcharged me 15$, because "the groomer thinks it is a medium size breed". Weight it's not an opinion, it's an objetive matter. I shared my discomfort but the lady's at the front desk were unable to help me, even though they have the list price on the desk. So unprofessional. This is the first time in my life that I experienced been overcharged with my service dog, taking advantage of someone with disabilities it is simply disgusting. We will never come back, and I highly do not recommend to anyone. read more

It is stressful enough leaving your pet somewhere for a weekend away but you expect them to not be ATTACKED. Then not having the professionalism to really address the issue is very frustrating. There is a large hole/ open wound in in my dogs neck now. I suggest you beware as they do not seem to even ban dogs that bite others in their care. I've gotta say I'm a tad bit pissed at this place! For starters, we have a golden doodle and when my husband called to ask how many go there, they said it was their most popular breed...so that made us feel really comfortable about getting his groomed and boarding him there. When he was boarded, we gave directions as far as when and how much to eat. We also got him groomed with a nail trim. 1. When he got him groomed, he was not brushed and detangled like a good groomer would have done. He actually was not brushed, detangled or blow dried. He didn't even smell good! Golden doodles are curly dogs so brushing them when wet or washed is pertinent to keeping a healthy coat; along with us brushing him at home. When he came home, he was actually very matted in which he wasn't before. It's as if they sprayed him with water and let him air dry. He was matted on his head, behind his neck and his chest areas. We get him groomed pretty often but because we moved, we tried a new place. 2. When he was boarded, we left him there for 3 days. On the last day I arrived at around 12:10pm to pick him up and they hadn't even fed him yet! Like wtf! So you let him starve all morning? What care! 3. There was a worker sitting in the lobby so I asked him how many golden doodles come there and he said "not many, your dog is probably the 2nd or 3rd one we've had". Like, wow!...because I could've sworn we were told that was the most popular breed! I'm over it, my husband is over it and our dog won't be returning again, EVER. We won't be wasting anymore money at this place and I suggest you don't either, ESPECIALLY if you have a golden doodle or a dog that needs proper care taken on his coat. read more

Let me preface that I usually groom my dog myself. I just couldn't find a beneficial reason to shell out all the dough. Korob has definitely shown me why. My dog is a white Pomeranian and was shedding an insane amount of hair all around the house. I was finding hair on every floor in every nook and cranny. I finally had enough and took her to Korob. I will never do her hair myself again. Lindsey took such great care of her and made her look amazing!! She got a hair cut, mud bath, whitening treatment, deshedding and her nails painted. All said and done it was $95 which I find a bit high (what do I know though, I've never had her groomed). It has been two weeks and there is still no hair on my floors! She will definitely be going back on the regular now. The facility itself is extremely clean. Front desk people were very friendly and you could tell they really loved their jobs. I would bring my dog here for boarding as well if I had no one to watch her. The only thing that drives me bonkers more than websites using bad SEO are ones that use appointment tools which can't actually book an appointment. I wish that Korob would update their scheduler so I could see next available appointment, see when they're booked, and actually schedule an appointment. I request an appointment on a day I'd like, then inevitably I get an appointment request denied email and someone calls me telling me they're booked and tries to find out when I am available. This is an unnecessary and frustrating layer. Getting Reagan in the second time has been a bit of a challenge, to say the least. read more

Let me tell you my story: My wonderful dog, Betty, got into some serious "badness" on our walk this evening. She found something awful and ugly to roll around in before I could stop her. (what is it about piles of awfulness and dogs??) I don't have a good way to clean my dog in the building where we live. That's what dog parks are for, right? Finding myself with a Dog Wash Emergency at 5pm is one of those helpless, hopeless moments that you don't even think about until you're right in the middle of one! Korob is located right across the street from me. I have never used them for any of our dog-care needs, but I went up to the door and explained my situation to the man at the front desk. Without any hesitation he said he would give Betty a quick shampoo. While he washed Betty, I washed her collar and leash. I was effusive in my gratitude and I was prepared to pay ANY amount of money that he named, and do you know what he charged me? $0.00 NOT A SINGLE PENNY. He simply encouraged me to bring Betty back another time for a more thorough wash and Day of Beauty. This man's name was Rice. I looked that up in the dictionary and found: RICE noun 1. A university in Houston 2. a grain often eaten with red beans 3. A saint who lives and walks among us, eager to help. verb 1. to rice, to come to one's rescue during Dirty Dog Emergencies example: "I was desperate and he riced the situation, and now I'm happy and feeling no stress." Mere words cannot express how grateful I am to Rice for ricing us this evening. Betty smells like a pina colada instead of a bus stop bathroom and I will honor my word and bring her back another day for her Day of Beauty. Apparently, Korob is not just a dog hotel. Hurricane Harvey ruined my house. Needed someplace for my 15yr old doxie during the day. Korob not only made my life easier but my Mr Big loved it there. He was so sad 1st few days but the team there was patient with him that each morning he knew he was going somewhere special. Besides neat, clean an sanitary the customer service is great. Even after my House was finished I took him there a few times a week. My Big passed away last month. Peaceful and in my arms. I received a beautiful card from Korob with each caregiver sharing a memory of him. It was beautiful I am blessed that Royce and his team were a part of our lives. read more

I have been a client of Korob Since 2016. I have three Pomeranian Dogs. I have used Grooming, boarding and day care services. over these past three years, I have gone from a Very happy Customer to one who felt a bit ripped off and ignored to now one who will never return. The owner does not appear to take any part in the business except to assign periodic price increases and policy changes and require a non disclosure agreement in order to issue a refund for poorly completed work ( attached and addressed later). One recent change is not cutting the dogs' nails as part of grooming service but rather suggesting a 15 dollar add-on to have nails filed down instead. I noticed that a customer had an issue where her pet's nails were cut poorly and caused injury. Rather than ensuring the staff is properly trained to trim, the owner has implemented a required up charge. The current groomer has been on staff probably a year or more. I have had good luck with her until recently. The appt prior to the most recent appt, One of my three dogs did not look the way he usually does. I did call and discuss this with the groomer before my next appt to remind her of the way i like my dog to look and share that i had been unhappy with the previous cut. The next cut- she made the dog look even worse than the time prior. Other two dogs looked correct and looked like they usually look so I am very confused as to why this groomer who has cut my dog for at least a year can no longer cut him properly even though the others all look correct. I called and spoke to Sasha and she offered to have him fixed the next day. I told her that I wanted a refund and a fix as this was the second time it has happened and i did not have a fix or a refund the first time . She let me know that she has to get in touch with the owner to refund this fee. When she called back she said she could refund the fee but I had to sign some paperwork. So my husband dropped off my dog today and they presented him with a 5 page nondisclosure document to sign as a condition of getting the 55 dollar refund . He told them he needed to read the document so he brought it home. The document reads like a disclosure form you get when you enter into business or work for someone- it discusses their " trade Secrets" and other issues that would be proprietary to their business not being shared- I have seen similar documents in my work with software firms.I assume from reading it that they think it also covers my discussing this refund and the poor service that prompted it. I am not an attorney but i don't think it does.Either way,we did not sign it and will have to secure our refund through our credit card company. In any event- I am done doing business with a company who treats their customers like this. I have had minor complaints before- they do not have cameras, my dogs always seem parched after day care which makes me wonder if they sit in the heat all day rather than in the inside area for day care. I stopped bringing my dogs there long ago for boarding because they weren't caring for them the way i had requested( did not even give them the toys or treats i had left for them on the last visit). I have never felt satisfied with the way the staff handles any complaints- they really don't ever apologize - usually they offer excuses. But i had hung in there for the grooming and used day care occasionally because it is a very convenient location and the daycare workers seem to treat the dogs well. This latest incident is the final straw. I noticed a decent amount of other people posting negative things about them on here. When I first became a customer they had only 5 star reviews. Now they have about 5 poor reviews with in the last 6 months and of course I am wondering how many people have signed their strange document in exchange for a refund and believe that by signing it they cannot post on Yelp about them. Sasha did inform me today that it is their policy to only issue refunds when this document is signed. That alone to me speaks volumes about a company- i am not sure its even legal to require a nondisclosure before issuing a refund. I don't like that mindset for doing business and I actually can't imagine leaving my dogs in the care of people who have this as a policy in their business and interact with their customers in this manner. I still have 8 prepaid daycare visits that they also will not refund. Obviously, i wont be bringing my dogs back and of course it's " not their policy to refund prepaid daycare." read more

This is my first experience with a pet hotel And I feel like the luckiest girl in the world because I know it doesn't get much better than this. Seriously BEST customer service ever!! I had no anxiety at all leaving my 6 month old boxer and 10 year old chihuahua with CHF at this family owned pet facility. They went above and beyond anything I could have expected. They were so organized with my dogs multiple medications and the place was super clean. We got the dogs groomed as well. It also has a great price! I wish they were a chain. I've been nothing but impressed with my experience here. The staff are professional and courteous, when I first stopped by they were happy to give me a tour of the facilities -- everything is well organized and clean in both the daycare and boarding areas. I was very nervous about leaving my dog somewhere because she has separation anxiety and the last time we boarded her (at a different kennel) when we picked her up she was shaking and looked traumatized. We left her at Korob for a week earlier this month and when we picked her up she was happy, playful, and acting like her normal self. My dog did not have worms in poop until she came here. We got the worms cleared and they still isolated her from the other dogs for the whole stay. They said my dog had accidents at night when she is completely potty trained which makes me wonder if they even gave her a bathroom break. I wanna start out by saying I've been using Korob's daycare services for the past few months. They have been amazingly attentive and helpful. I would recommend their daycare services. Recently, I took my pet there to be bathed and have her nails clipped. As I make it a point not to clip her nails, because I do not ever want to risk me clipping too close and hurting her. I picked her up and on the way home I noticed her excessively licking her paw. It wasn't until we were inside that I realized she was trailing blood behind her each step. Her paw was stained with blood and still freshly bleeding. That's when I realized they had not only clipped WAY too close, but that all of her nails were jagged and poorly filed. Due to the blood STAIN on her paw, I knew she had to of been bleeding for a bit before she was picked up. So, her nails were clipped painfully and poorly AND I was also not informed by anyone when I went to pick her up. What that tells me is that multiple people knew she was hurt and bleeding and not a single person thought to notify me. This also tells me that after she was clipped, the groomer did not even make an attempt to wrap it and protect her from infection and dirt. After calling to tell them the next day, I was asked to send a picture. I did and they still didn't make an attempt to contact me. I called a second time to speak with the general manager and was told that they had a "long talk" with their groomers. They also told me that they would put in my file that she could only get her nails filed for her next visit. No apology, no attempt to reconcile. I would HIGHLY not recommend their grooming services. They hurt my dog, proceeded to not properly take care of it, and then failed to even mention it to me. Nothing was done, and you can bet I'll never take her there to be groomed again. We spoke on the phone with Rimma about a week before we were set to go on vacation. She said she could care for our cat and told us we could drop him off the day before we were leaving and he would have his own room. She said she would contact us if any changes were to take place and since we didn't hear from her again, we were confident things would go according to plan. Well, the day came to drop him off and we tried calling her. Then, we tried calling again an hour later. We even tried driving by to see if there was a storefront, but no such luck. We called multiple times and left two voicemails but just kept being forwarded to an answering service. We never received a call back from anyone, and had to scramble to find another pet sitter the day before leaving for our honeymoon. I have never seen such flakiness in a highly rated business on Yelp before. Super disappointing. read more

My husband and I are very picky about who we board our dog, Jake with. So much so that when we won tickets to Super Bowl LI, we decided to make it a two week road trip so that we wouldn't have to leave him with some of the kennels near us in the Los Angeles area. I had to call ahead to pet sitters and boarding facilities in Houston to make sure he had a place to go while we were at the game. It was more than a little nerve racking. When we called Korob, things began to go very well. I WISH I could remember the girl's name who worked with my husband and I. I'm really kicking myself because she deserves acknowledgement for how incredibly professional and accommodating she was. But I do remember this about her... She had a tattoo of the state of Texas on her arm and some killer cowboy boots. She was very kind natured and Jake liked her immediately. She worked with my husband, vet, and I to get our dog's vet records transferred to Korob in time for the big game. She gave us an extensive tour of the facility (loved that they have nothing to hide), and made sure our dog had the exact accommodations that we wanted for him. But wait, there's more. We were rushing through part of the intake paperwork regarding what type of grooming we wanted for Jake while he was there. We made a mistake and selected the puppy cut/buzz cut for our Australian Shepherd. She and the groomer were awesome enough to realize that was a little unusual and gave me a quick concerned call to confirm my decision. Thank goodness they did!! When we picked up Jake the next day he was relaxed, handsome, and happy. Ears back with a goofy smile and his signature wiggle. We tipped because they went above and beyond. No anxiety. Good vibes. I wish this pet hotel was in the Pasadena area. We had an outstanding experience with them. The Korob crew are great ambassadors for Houston! Lots of love and thanks from CA!!!!! read more

I called in to ask about dog boarding and a young lady Rimma was very nice to explain me all the price ranges and dates availability. I called two weeks in advance just to make sure I have a professional dog boarding place to take care of my dog. In two weeks I dropped off my dog and met Rimma in person. She showed me the place and my Leila was playing with her right away. I think the atmosphere and over all the positivity that comes out from this person is incredible! When I came back after vacation my Leila looked very happy and was very happy to see me as well. Rimma even showered her because she was staying there for over a week! She is such a carrying person! This is the best dog daycare and dog boarding place in Houston! read more
