Contact lens ordering nightmare. This office has mishandled my contact lens order on two separate occasions, both times after payment was processed. Despite placing my order months in advance, the office either lost or failed to process it, resulting in extended delays. When I contacted the office to request help including expediting the order, I was told it would take another two months, with no accountability taken for their error. After speaking with a manager, they explicitly refused to contact the manufacturer or offer any temporary solution, even after acknowledging I would be out of contact lenses due to their mistake. The issue was resolved only after I contacted CooperVision directly. CooperVision immediately stepped in, contacted Houston Eye Associates Tanglewood (HEAT) on my behalf, and arranged for trial lenses to be rushed to me within three weeks. This option was never offered by HEAT, nor was any effort made to assist me until the manufacturer intervened. It is unacceptable that a patient must bypass their provider to correct an error entirely created by the office. This experience demonstrates a serious lack of customer care, accountability, and patient advocacy. read more

I have been using HEA since they were in the Herman professional building and have seen several of my doctors retire. I have always been pleased with their professionalism, their willingness to discuss options and my results. at almost 80, my last few visits were for cataract surgery and detailed retina exams. Both Dr Elchahal and Dr. Kopel have been diligent in my exams and provided detailed information on the next processes. I value the treatments I have had here. I would also like to state how thoughtful, caring and professional all the staff have been in the many years i have been using HEA. I have been coming to this location for years. I typically go to Megan Heaney which is super nice. Makes sure I'm covered since I get eye allergies. The real reason I come back though is the eye glasses specialist. Each one of them are so great. This time I had the gentlemen who when I was in love with a pair from somewhere else let me still get what I wanted. He looked them up for me. He got the colors I wanted. He did it all even though it took a bit longer to make sure at the end of the day I am happy with the glasses. The girl with the nails, iykyk, was helping a mom and daughter and listening to it just reminds me why I continue to go back. They are friendly and patient. I wish I had gone back here the first time instead of what's convenient closer to me. So much better service. read more

He did not allow me to ask questions and even put his hand up to stop me from asking a question as he left the room. The staff were very friendly and with my urgent situation they were able to get me in quickly. The ophthalmologist was knowledgeable and caring and was able to diagnose my conditional quickly and the aftercare instructions were clear. Funny how the google review is 5 star but they barely have one star. They are deleting reviews on google which businesses can do. The doctors at least for me aren't the problem the problem is the ladies they hire at those two little desks. They yell everyone's information out and there's no privacy so while you're talking to them you can hear the patients information behind you. Ridiculous HIPAA violations! I heard others information and I know everyone was hearing all my information. Too expensive of a place to go to even if your insurance covers it, take your business somewhere else! read more

I took my 6-year old son for the first optometrist visit, but somehow was scheduled to see an ophthalmologist. We ended up with a big medical exam bill that was not covered by the insurance. I called back many times to check on this wrong billing code, and they promised they would call back but it never happened. I ended up wasting too much time calling and explaining the situation and hoping someone would help, so eventually I gave up and paid the bill. Be careful when you go to this place, they don't care about your real needs and just try to bill you for the expensive services! I don't understand why would they think it was ok to schedule a first check-up for a 6-year old that has absolutely NO concerns for a ophthalmologist appointment!!! read more

Beware. This franchise only cares about pushing patients and getting their billings high. I was here yesterday after some insect hit my eyeball, and I know as I felt it. Immediately after, I started experiencing some pain--sort of like a migraine--along with itchiness and redness. Since my regular doctor wasn't available, I decided to come here to rule out anything serious. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Samih Elchahal was quite rushed. He spent less than five minutes with me and spoke so quickly that I had a hard time following his diagnosis. He mentioned that the bug incident was just a coincidence and told me I had ocular rosacea, but he didn't take the time to explain what that meant. He was more focused on ensuring I got his business card and was referred to a specialist than on addressing my concerns. He even claimed my eye had no scratches, which I later discovered wasn't true! I was sent home with an ointment meant for bacteria, even though I had no bacterial infection at all. Afterward, I called my regular doctor and was lucky enough to get an appointment the next day. I explained my situation just as I did with Dr. Elchahal (I left out the ocular rosacea comment), and my regular doctor quickly identified a minor scratch on my eye. Instead of ointments, I was prescribed just eye drops! I suggest caution when consulting this franchise! read more

Not only was he 45 minutes late but finally stumbled in a huge rush, stayed only maybe 5 minutes, did not give my mother the opportunity to ask any questions and never gave any recommendations or advice! HORRIBLE experience! He's impatient & RUDE! This place is a JOKE! read more

They just want money from you and do unnecessary tests. An eye exam costed $365.59 and they want you to come back every 6 months. They will not explain to you why you need all these tests. I am currently sitting in the doctors office waiting to see Dr Arnoult. This is after sitting in the waiting room for 1 hour and 10 minutes. I had the pleasure of speaking with 4 other patients waiting to see the same doctor. They also waited over an hour. My elderly mothers appointment was at 9:05 and they open at 8 am so not sure how they can be that far behind. My only explanation is overbooking and a complete lack of respect for their patients time. I will complete my mom's eye exam while here as she is having trouble with her eye sight but we will not be back. In addition, they also lost 3 more patients today as the rest of my family also comes here. I also asked to speak the office manager over 30 minutes again and I have been told she is in a meeting. I am hopeful to share my experience with her before I leave. Incredibly disappointing as I saw a plaque in the waiting room showing they were voted the best of the best in 2022. If this is how they treat their customers I have no idea how. It is currently 10:30 and there is absolutely no sight of the doctor. read more

Dr. Zaman has been my eye doc for years now and I really like the upscale decor and location of this office. I'm pretty dumbfounded at some of the negative reviews, everyone is pretty nice here. I guess if you come in with a bad attitude someone will treat you the same way. But I've been to this location multiple times and I'm beyond happy. Well as happy as someone getting their eyes checked out can be. Good location, good lounges and the kids area looks better than most clinics. Being in a high end strip mall had its perks. I was referred to this office by my primary physician. My appointment was for 2:20. I waited till 3:00 before asking the status of the DR. The receptionist [for the DR, not the one at the very front of the office] told me there were still 2 others ahead of me and could not give me an ETA. She then further proceeded to tell me I should have booked an am appt so as to avoid this current predicament!!! She said to wait a bit longer though I told her I had another 4 pm appt which was 15 min away. Finally at 3:20 I told her I could not wait further as I did not see how the DR. could even finish an exam if they got me in at 3:30. I informed this to the receptionist [this time at the very front of the office] and proceeded to leave. Upon entering my car, they came out and told me he could see me now and could complete the eye exam within 20 min]. The Asst got me in the office and did the initial exams, dilated my eyes and told me the DR would be in for final consult within 5 minutes....15 minutes later [and now 4:00], NO SHOW. Thus I left so as not to delay my other appt. Most unprofessional experience I have had with a doctor's office in years and first one in Houston. Though I cannot comment on the quality of Samih Elchahal, MD at Houston Eye Associates, I can say that his support Team is very unprofessional and incompetent in their ability to schedule and communicate with their clients. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. My daughter's appt was at 9:15, I arrived at 9a as requested to fill out paperwork. Turned in the paperwork at 9:10 and proceeded to wait. The children's area was disgusting, the toys are gross and need a severe cleaning. There was stuff all over the floor that my daughter kept trying to pick up. We waited until 9:40a when we were called back and they dilated her eyes. We were sent back to the waiting room until 10:20 when they called us back to see a doctor. We sat in a room for 10 minutes waiting. A room that had definitely not been cleaned or even tidied up - there was an old water bottle still in the chair and a bandaid stuck to the exam chair. By this point my daughter was tired and cranky. When the doctor finally came to see us, she was not pleasant and left me wondering why she was even in a pediatric field in the first place. The exam was a nightmare because my daughter was scared of the equipment and apparently the doctor too, but mostly, she was exhausted from having been there for over an hour and a half. After the exam the doctor proceeded to ask if my daughter "was normally this shy", when I responded that "no, she's just tired from having been here for over an hour and a half", she barely acknowledged - no apology or even a sense of understanding - and said "well, that's hard for us to control". There's no way I would ever come here again. read more

Problems with two different pairs of glasses. I had issues with two different pairs of glasses from what looks to be a very nice professional place. Just can't judge a book by it's cover. The first pair was a prescription wrap around sunglasses, which gave me a headache and made me dizzy as soon as I put them on, I gave it a two week try and then just had them yank they prescription lens and put the originals back. I mention I had this type of issue in the past when a set of lenses were made incorrectly. They were very cordial about the issue, but I don't think they believe what I mention, which leads to why I had them yank the prescriptions. Many months later I found out a pair of glasses we had made for my daughter was not made correctly and I guess either someone did not bother checking them or the person checking them was incompetent, don't know which is worse. The end result was one of the lenses was made with too strong of a prescription and over time has caused more and more issue, especially when it comes to reading. Learn from this, don't be shy about taking your glasses back or with you to make sure they are made correctly. As soon as this issue is resolved, I will never go back to them again for anything. Jan 28, 2014 Let's add to this mess. I just called to check if the replacement lenses have come in and was told they were not, but will call me back within an hour to see what the status of them are. 5 1/2 hours later I called them back to check and found out that they have not yet been ordered. To make things worse, they don't have enough help so the phone will ring in their department for a couple minutes before anyone will even pick it up. read more

Every time I come, there is a 1.5 hour wait. The lady at the front whose name is Adeline told me I could not see a doctor until my insurance was verified by a fax and a fax only!!! After waiting one hour, I told her to call the insurance again, and she said, "No, she was waiting on the fax. " I then called my insurance my self and they verified on the phone, but she said she could only accept a fax. I gave up and told them to let me see a doctor, and I would pay out of pocket. (This was after 1.25 hours). When I checked out, I magically found out my insurance was approved after Adeline left the office. Someone else magically thought to verify the insurance over the phone. I told the Doctor, and he did not seem to be bothered at the least. He said it was not his department and other patients did not have problems. Well... Customer service was horrible. My mother and I went in on a whim to look at some glasses. We told them I was on Christmas break and lived in Michigan - the guy who worked with us assured us he could get my glasses in on time (they needed to be there in 3 weeks), by two weeks at the most. He was not taking notes about what frames I wanted or what type of lenses (I wanted anti-reflective). My mother even asked if he needed to write the info down. Six days before my departure, I called to see if my glasses came in. They hadn't. So I continued to call and reminded them I was leaving town in a few days. Two days before my departure (it was new years eve) I called several times that day with no contact with the store. When I finally got through it was 15 minutes before closing (they wouldn't be open on new years.) I raced over there only to find out they ordered the wrong frames. Disappointed, I worked with the glasses department to have them mail me the correct pair. TWO months later, I had been calling every two weeks to find out if my glasses had arrived to the store, I finally received the correct frames, however they did not have the correct lenses. It was a number of phone calls and emails before I managed to get the correct frames. If you live out of town DO NOT order from here. The staff were rude and disrespectful. They did not consider or make note of my time-line and were not very helpful. It was so messed up, my father got involved because he was paying for the glasses. What I went through for one pair of glasses was not worth it. It was a pricey pair, and my mother and I should have been treated better. read more
