How do you expect a returning patient to schedule a follow-up appointment is your receptionist ignores their calls. Cynthia purposely did not answer or take my calls for multiple days. I know bc I called off from a different number and she picked right on up literally after I called from my original number. I asked her why she was not picking up my phone calls multiple times, only for her to be rude and blow off the questions everytime. Been in pain and calling since Tuesday asking about about a prescription refill only for her to stop answering the phone. I was not being difficult, I asked a simple question. Now I have to start this process all over again with a new Dr. SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND DO NOT GO TO THIS RUN DOWN MEDICAL OFFICE! read more

The doctors and nurses are excellent but they have the dumbest and most unorganized front staff I've ever came across.

Totally inconsistent and don't care. I was supposed to see De Roth, who is apparently amazing, but both visits I saw Jae Graham. One was for a possible infection, which she referred me to $500 worth of testing which my Gynecologist said was unnecessary. So when I went in for my well woman/physical and told her I didn't get those tests, she seemed pretty angry. Then she 1) told me I had to get ahold of my medical history for her 2) looked at me and said I should get a dermatologist - but didn't check my whole body for moles, and 3) rushed me out of the meeting so I couldn't tell her about the hip pain I'd been having. I could tell she just did not care about me. So, it doesn't seem that bad, I get it. But I know someone else who saw JG as well. 1) they offered to get medical history info from the doctor 2) JG looked at the whole body for moles, found some not good looking ones, and offered to follow up - doing a good job 3) asked about any issues this person may have and did a full assessment of this persons health. I'm glad this other person had great service, but it also disappoints me even more. Why is JG so good for one person but not give a s*** about my health? I had a few moles I was concerned about but she told me to go to a dermatologist. If she would have looked at the same parts of my body that she found the moles on my friend, maybe I'd have caught skin cancer by now. Instead, I'm searching for a new doctor and it's getting worse, if I have it. read more

I was a patient of Georgine De Roth's for 1 year, during which time I had 2 appointments with her, 1 w PA, Kim Pham. My 1st appointment was brilliant. The practice's medical questionnaire is a thorough 1, but Dr. De Roth read through my responses & addressed each w me, systematically. It was especially helpful that "depression" was listed amongst the options for present complaints. I'd been through a hell of an ordeal, several months before (see my Texas Children's Hospital List), but I certainly wasn't going to say I was depressed. It was far easier circling item 39 & penciling in a little "?" to the right of it. Dr. De Roth questioned me indirectly, re this--just enough that I felt she understood I was high risk for postpartum depression & was monitoring the situation, but not so much that I worried something was really wrong w me. And though I warned Dr. De Roth to be extra careful during the gynecological portion of my exam, b/c my twin daughters' deliveries had been so traumatic, Dr. De Roth used me to train a new assistant. Her confidence in me made me feel a bit more confident in myself. Most importantly, Dr. De Roth called later that same day w info she'd promised. I love a Dr. who follows up. My 2nd appointment, w Kim Pham (KP) was an unmitigated disaster. My sick toddlers & I waited for ~ an hour, from the start of our appointment time, during their usual nap time. I'd come b/c I'd had a cold-like bug for the past week, & wanted to be sure I didn't have an ear or throat infection, on top of this. KP looked in my throat, then my ears, but said she couldn't see my ear drums b/c there was too much wax in my ears. Then she asked me to breathe in, so she could listen to my chest--& to breathe in again & again. This went on for several min, but KP was never sure whether my chest was congested. She wrote me a prescription for an antibiotic I might not need, though I was nursing at the time. And whereas KP did check to see that the drug was safe for my little ones, 1 of my girls turned out to be allergic to it, so it's a good thing I never took it. Just after I'd finished breathing for KP, my sick & tired 2 year old son unplugged something from an outlet. I plugged it back in, firmly saying "No!" to my son & apologizing to the PA. But KP started shouting over me, at my son. He was scared & embarrassed, & lay down on the floor, hiding his face, prompting more shouting from KP. So he tried to hide under our stroller--more shouting. Surely, this was unnecessary. My son sobbed, as KP checked on the safety of- & prescribed the drug I was unsure I needed. She'd also checked on the results of my last blood work from my former OB/GYN practice, & wrongly told me these were abnormal & there might be something wrong w my liver, which might be unable to handle the meds she'd just prescribed. Great. My 3rd appointment, w Dr. De Roth was again, brilliant. I came in, ~ a week later, still sick with the same bug, & now w a throat infection. Dr. De Roth examined & diagnosed me ably & efficiently, then asked for feedback re KP's performance. I told her what had happened, & she apologized, explaining that KP was new to the practice, & promising she would be given additional supervision until she'd shown herself to have adequate diagnostic skills. As before, Dr. De Roth followed up--at my hub's next appointment, KP was well supervised by Dr. De Roth. But unfortunately, the PA is not the only problem w this practice--obtaining referrals is too. I was referred to a cardiologist, b/c of of family history, at the end of Nov, but didn't try to schedule an appointment until after the new year. The cardiologist's office had no record of having received a referral. This was likely the fault of that practice's receptionist, who said she throws away the unused referrals at the start of ea year. I left a phone message for the NA at Houston Family Practice, asking her to re-fax my referral. She called back, promptly, telling me off, & promising she'd re-send the referral this time, though never again. A week passed--no referral, so I left her another phone message. Another week passed--no referral, so I left a 2nd message stating I would stop by later that day to pick it up. When I arrived that afternoon, the referral was ready, no harm done. My hub may not have fared so well. He was referred for abdominal imaging for a complaint that may have been appendicitis. He waited in agony for over a week for the referral to be completed. On the day of the scheduled procedure, it turned out that the referral had been filled out incorrectly. He waited at the hospital for 5 hours for the practice to sort out its mistake. And after his battery of tests was done, no one called him w the results, or to advise him to schedule another appointment. He waited in pain & fear. So whereas Dr. De Roth is skillful; careful; & follows through, I wasn't able to see her or a competent substitute when I needed to, nor could my hub or I see any specialist. read more

I've been a patient at this office for more than 15+ years and the only reason I left then was because my insurance changed to a Kelsey plan and I had no choice. When I find service I like I'm pretty loyal. When I first became a patient I always saw Dr. Knafo. One day I needed to see Dr. Knafo, but there wasn't an appointment for her available so in desperation I took an appointment with her then PA Dr. Alfreda Bell. After that one visit I then asked for and scheduled my future appointments w/Dr. Bell and saw Dr. Knafo only if Dr. Bell wasn't available. After seeing Dr. Bell for many years one day I called to schedule an appointment and was told she was no longer there. I knew something happened and it wasn't a pleasant split, but I let it go and continued seeing Dr. Knafo. Fast forward..... after Dr. Bell a new PA came on staff DR.CAROL MANNING and I immediately fell in love with her. She was always extremely professional, knowledgeable, attentive and I never felt rushed. She always made me feel like I had her undivided attention when she was in the room. She made me feel like she cared about my health, how I felt and getting me better. I'm not sure if any other patients have been experiencing any problems scheduling an appoint with DR. CAROL MANNING, but I have. Whenever I call to schedule an appointment with DR. CAROL MANNING I'm offered to schedule an appointment with another doctor and told she's not seeing patients for some reason or another. I know she didn't just vanish. I received a voicemail that it was time for my annual physical but when i called the office and tried to book an appointment to get the physical I was told once again that DR. CAROL MANNING isn't seeing patients and offered to see one of the other doctors. I was told I didn't want to see any of the other physicians and that I'd schedule with Dr. Knafo if I couldn't see DR. CAROL MANNING but Laura told me, "Dr. Knafo doesn't do annual physicals and request that you schedule physicals with one of the other doctor"... Wait that doesn't make since, why can't see do physicals. I then replied to her "I understand that's what she request, but I'm requesting her so is that not possible" she then got an attitude and put me on hold came back to only tell me that every appointment option I was requesting that Dr. Knafo wasn't available. After so many years of service I hate to have to find and build another professional relationship with another office with another doctor who makes me feel so cared for; however, I know DR. CAROL MANNING didn't just vanish into thin air as well. I've always enjoyed the service received the service I received from Dr. Knafo, Dr. Bell and Dr. Manning but if doctors are being forced out and mistreated it's time for me to take my services elsewhere. I guess we all have to make changes in life even when we sometimes don't want too. I won't just ignore what's happening again. I'm curious to know if any other patients of Houston Family Practice is experiencing this problem when requesting to schedule an appointment with DR. CAROL MANNING and if you know where she went please let the rest of us know. As soon as I find DR. CAROL MANNING, that's where I'll be taking my services!!! read more

I love Dr.De Roth, I recently moved from California and didn't always have the best experience with doctors, so I carefully selected a doctor who had good reviews. Dr. De Roth didn't disappoint, but the office did. When I finished my well women exam, I didn't feel good, and I had also fasted for the past 12 hours and needed some water. I kindly asked if there was any water in the office, but the front desk passive aggressively told me to buy my own from the lobby. And as soon as I walked out, I over heard them joking and giggling about it. It's very very poor optics itself not to have any water for a patient that's experiencing low blood pressure, and it would've been forgotten if nothing else happened, but the lack of professionalism and compassion from the staff just made everything so much worse. read more

Never have I've been treated so rudely as I was treated by the office staff at Houston Family Practice. I had been a patient for decades, and was always happy with the physicians and PAs that I saw. The office staff was perfunctory and not particularly nice, but okay, whatever. That all changed in October of 2020. My medication refills are sent automatically. When I didn't receive a refill, I called my pharmacy. They told me that my prescription had been cancelled. Cancelled? I called Houston Family Practice. I was told that the entire practice had been sold and the policy what that all patients' prescriptions had been cancelled - with zero notification - zero. I explained that I was nearly out of my medication and was told tough luck; the only way to get a new prescription was to make an appointment with the practice's new owner. It would cost me, because it wasn't time for my Well Woman Exam, yet, so my insurance would not cover the cost. As I was replying, the woman on the phone HUNG UP ON ME. I ended up switching doctors. If I'm going to pay, then I'm going to go somewhere with better office staff. I stopped by the office to pick up my medical records. I was told that I could not have them; I could have only copies of them. The price for copies of decades of records was extremely high. The women in the office were rude beyond belief. They are obviously a very close group of women, so it's them against the patients. Honestly, I've never, ever been treated by a service provider as utterly rudely as I was by this group of women. Do yourself a favor and don't expose yourself to this terribly-run practice that has zero customer service standards. No idea about the competency or manner of the new doctor owner. Don't expect that she'll be in business very long if she keeps the office staff as it is. read more

PA Fischer brown is amazing. Couldn't ask for a better PCP. But the office staff and is not efficent and somewhat unprofessional. I have left messages that are never returned and the fee for medical docs is 35 dollars. The most expensive I have ever seen. I was recently in wreck and received 3 different med records at no cost and 2 of them even gave me an account to access my med docs. Despite the inadquate office workers I will stay because of Mrs. Fischer Brown. read more

I love Houston Family Practice. After moving to Houston for college from California, I was in search of a great doctor to see as needed. I found Houston Family Practice through Google and have been seeing both Dr. De Roth and PA Manning over the past three years. They are consistently helpful and I am always able to get in for an appointment. Dr. De Roth is extremely caring, and is always sure to review her notes from my previous visit to make sure I'm no longer having any problems with a previous issue. I only give 4 stars because you will most likely spend about 30-45 minutes in the exam room waiting for the doctor. However, I do believe the excellent service is worth the wait, since De Roth will then spend as much time as needed to find a solution to your illness. read more
