They did an amazing job! I remodeled my kitchen since I didn't like the style of the original kitchen we purchased, even though it was a brand new house. I wanted a floating marble shelf and they said they know how to make it, so I purchased all my marble slabs there. They also did the waterfall island, added more cabinets and repainted the old cabinets. Joanna was so helpful, and she knew exactly what I wanted, like she could picture it in her head when I described my dream kitchen. She also knew which kind of marble I was looking for and helped me find the perfect one for my backsplash. Just look at the outcome! I couldn't be happier with my new stylish kitchen! They offered a 25-year warranty seal on the marble. I hope it will last, but of course I will be careful since natural marble are delicate. One thing is that you might need to prepare to wait a long time. It was a 2 week project that turned out to be 2 months, but it was worth the wait. read more

This is a warning to anyone looking to purchase stone from these people - they will try to take advantage of you. My experience was great at first. They were transparent on pricing, transparent on the type of stone I was looking at, appeared informed, and were helpful. But then I went back a week after my first visit. Helen didn't recognize me because when I asked about a slab I had inquired about the week before, which was previously quoted at $1,200 a slab, she told me it was $2,000 a slab but she would cut me a deal for $1,900. After that incident, I decided I would not be buying that slab but did find another I liked. I handpicked the two slabs I wanted, paid immediately, didn't question the price and moved on with my day. My fabricators went and picked up my slabs and installed them accordingly. To my surprise however, the slab that was used for my kitchen island had a 10 inch crack in it. 10 inches of an extremely hard to miss defect. 10 inches that were not present when I handpicked my slabs 5 days before. 10 inches that weren't present when I took a video of each slab I had picked out and purchased. My understanding is that this company tried to, and successfully managed to, switch out the slabs I handpicked with a defective slab. Shame on me I guess for not being there to micro-manage the retrieval of my slabs or look over the material before accepting delivery but this type of doing business is absolutely not acceptable. My fabricator went above and beyond to rectify the situation, a situation that he didn't even cause. Helen initially refused to provide me with a new defect-free slab, and subsequently refused to fabricate the new slab, refused to deliver the new slab, refused to install the new slab, refused to do absolutely anything that would demonstrate they stand by their product and their business practices. She then proceeded to hang up on us. The end result resulted in Helen finally agreeing to provide a defect free slab, but forced my fabricators to drive all the way across town again to pick it up, refabricate for me, and reinstall. My fabricators ate that cost for me which is something I'm thankful for but that they never should have had to do in the first place. Shop here with caution. read more

They were amazing company when I started and I have to give kudos to Jere who is one of their sales agency is one of the nicest gentlemen most knowledgeable people I've ever met. But unfortunately owner hired new installers and became a real scumbag. They broke the granite in my clients house and it took them almost 4 days to come back set my clients back with their move-in date and cost them money. Then they cut the wrong edge on the new granite and instead of my clients asking them to remove the granite they said just give them a discount well the discount was 5% for all of that aggravation. Then when we receive the invoice there was no discount the owner threaten to come and remove the product from the house if you did not receive payment even though the product was wrong. I would say be cautious if you decide to use them I will never use them again as I don't believe in their business philosophy or their customer service.. read more

We were victims of Harvey and had spent months looking for quartz for the kitchen island and countertop, fireplace, wet bar, and 3 bathroom vanities. We happened upon Houston Granite and Marble. I was skeptical because no "quartz" in the title. So glad we stopped and went in. They have a huge selection of quartz. Helen looked at my samples and expertly matched everything we needed. The installation was a little tricky for our master bath because of our sinks- but it was replaced and perfect.The sinks we purchased to go with the quartz are exquisite and 1 of a kind.The entire staff has been incredibly helpful and sweet. They've become like family as they treated us like family. Highly recommend them. read more

Without going into too much unnecessary detail, I'll say this: Customer service was a 4 out of 5 stars. Helen was nice and made efforts to right the wrongs of her contractors, but trying to stiff me by $170 at the end of a job after putting a customer through the ringer already is poor form. Craftsmanship is a 1.5 out of 5 stars. I wish I had just spent the extra money to go with a fabricator who took pride in their work. Our countertops were scratched, cracked, unsealed, then the installer/fabricator lied to us and told us the epoxy-filled crack was "just part of the rock". There was no pride in the work of the fabrication. I genuinely feel like I could have done a better job myself. Chipped corners, uneven edges, misalinged joints, the list goes on. Reliability was a 2.5 out of 5 stars. For every time we had scheduled an appointment, there was a last minute "family emergency", which I've learned is just contractor speak for "I'm either lazy, or unorganized, but don't have enough integrity to tell you the truth about either." Bottom line, not worth the hassle for the amount of money I saved. I'll have to live with this poorly done granite/backsplash job for the remainder of the time I live in this house all because I wanted to save a couple hundred bucks. I'll never make that mistake again. read more

I was so excited to visit Houston Stone and Marble because we had one final slab to finish our house and I had read so many nice comments about Helen. Unfortunately, I didn't get Helen as a salesrep, but one of their men who refused to move a slab of granite so I could see the second slab because it "cost them money" to move a slab. I have been to granite companies all over Houston and not a single place EVER refused to move a slab for me. Customer service is VERY important to me and that was the worst I've ever seen. When I explained to him that I had one more slab to buy and it could have been that one, then he decided he could move a slab.....too late though. I found a beautiful slab at Galaxy Granite for alot less, so thank you sir for your lack of customer service and your rudeness because you saved me money! read more

I have searched for the perfect kitchen granite color for over a year or longer. After visiting several granite yards, I never really loved any of the granite. After visiting Houston Granite and Marble, Helen, turned me on to Quartzite. She showed me a countertop she had done in her office and the actual slab in the yard. I feel in LOVE! Within a week, I had the Quartzite installed. The crew was efficient and easy to work with. They were meticulous and was steadily cleaning in between cuts. I have about 90 sq. ft of couterspace and it took them a day to install. They did a beautiful job! I will be back to finish my bathroom! read more

I guess no negative star options. Alright. Would you like to buy a piece of marble and have the owner threaten your life? You have come to the right place friends. For terrible customer service, horrible integrity, lying, thieving and basically threatening your life Please go ahead and choose this business as your countertop provider. If those things do not appeal to you (What??Really???) then please go elsewhere. Our marble showed up and the delivery guys refused to install because they called this person named Helen and apparently she instructed them not to install it, but to leave it on the "floor" of the house. This is after she had already agreed to us at the time of purchase to have it installed. When we told them that they can leave it outside or on the countertop, the response was "sorry we have to leave it on the floor of the house". What!? No! You are not leaving heavy stone on my newly installed wood floors, are you crazy? We asked them to take the stone back and leave the property and about 10 minutes later the owner of Houston Granite and Marble called us saying he was going to "come after us", "deal with us" and "you don't know who are you dealing with" for telling his guys that "Helen is the worst business person I've seen" (still true and will say it again, because she is a liar, a fraud and unprofessional) and "to leave the Property with the marble if they weren't going to install it or lay it outside". Um, I'm sorry, have you heard of law enforcement or that we have rights? Whatever you do, please do not be abject idiots to threaten people's lives and families again. There are lawful consequences to your ignorance, stupidity and arrogance. Yeah, let me just tell you guys, this is the WORST individual business I've ever had to deal with in my life. My husband and I worked extensively with Jerry to find the perfect natural stone for a large job at our home. The job included 5 slabs of beautiful quartzite and 1 slab of gorgeous soapstone. Jerry was amazingly patient with us and, when he wasn't available, Maria graciously spent time with us. The two were a great team! They hired Ricardo to install the pieces. I came looking for quartz and quartzite counters. The sales guy laughed at me when I asked if we could see the quartz slabs we wanted before they were put in. It's not unreasonable to ask that, since I don't want defects/resin pooling in the slab. They don't have samples of anything, just booklets (what good is that?! ‍) never the less to say, not coming back and will not recommend them. read more

1st let me say, when you pull up it is easy to be over whelmed by all of the different styles of marble & granite slabs they have in stock. But upon closer inspection, 85% of them appear to be either broken, cracked or flawed. I am in the process of remodeling the walk-in shower in my master bath. Went here to try & find a mosaic that works with my granite tile. Found that they had a very poor selection of mosaics. All but a few can be found at your local hardware store such as Home Depot. While I was there, getting help from the staff was very difficult & it seems as though they didn't care about me or my needs. I ended up finding a mosaic that I really liked, but was told by Jerry that he would have to call the warehouse in Atlanta to see if it was available. Gave him my contact info & left anticipating a return call within just a few hours. Maybe even by the next morning. Here we are 3 days later, several phone calls & messages later, I have still yet to hear back from Jerry. I have also been doing some research online & found the exact same tile online for $10 per foot. HG&MC told me it would be about $20 per foot. How is there going to be a 100%+ markup on tile? Outrageous. It's too bad it would be 8 weeks before my mosaic would be delivered & the tile is ready to go in next week. Again, they don't care about their customers or their needs. They are just there to collect a check. Kinda glad they didn't call me back after reading some of the other reviews & the nightmare others have had thanks to them. Save your time & money. We were doing some renovations on an income property that we have and looked for an inexpensive way to increast the value and appeal to tenants. A quick kitchen remodel was the key. I was layed up due to foot surgery, so my wife did the dirty work. Houston G & M has a HUGE selection of nearly anything you can think of. It's not the cheapest in town, but rarely do you find marble or granite in the discount bin. The main thing is that it did wonders for the kitchen in our little rental house, and will pay dividends 10 fold over the years. For the selection alone I would recommend Houston G&M! Third stop on my granite hunt. Owner came over and started to help. Really and truly one of the best experiences I have had in a while. It seems like customer service is dwindling and here it's just not the case. Not only was in less than 1/2 to do what I needed...(custom cut, custom edge). I waited for my installation to finish (I had to cancel 1 of 2) before writing this review, because this family-owned company is so skeptical I didn't know if they would finish the job. Pricing: I actually had an easy negotiation for my slabs. Helen and her daughter Joanna worked with me and even sent me a picture of a slab they just got in that I would like. I liked it, and bought two slabs with installation/fabrication included. After I paid my deposit for half of the Total Amount, things quickly turned. Installation Labor: Both were a no-show. Countertop - A week before my countertop installation, Helen called me to confirm the date/time. The day of, I waited 3 hours after the contractor didn't show up until I texted the Joanna asking when is he coming. No response. Then I called the store and told the owner (Helen's husband most likely) what happened, and he literally gave the phone to one of their new employees who started there a week ago, Maria, and told her to deal with me. I asked her when the contractor is coming because I cancelled all plans today for this appointment. She said she will figure out what's going on and call me back. Hours passed, NO RESPONSE. So I drove up to the store to ask face-to-face since no one wants to contact me back. Right when I walked in, Helen saw me and quickly asked Maria to call the contractor. This confirms she didn't do shit all day UNTIL I showed up at the store. You would think I would get a personal phone call from anyone/someone letting me know the whereabouts of the contractor, but nope. I was chasing my contractor. The excuse Helen gave me was the contractor got into a fender bender. So we rescheduled for the next day. Next day, the guy actually shows up, but while he was cutting the slab, it broke in half. So we had to reschedule AGAIN for them to come back and finish. He came back another day and completed the job. This was in a span of 1.5+ week. Backsplash - A contractor named David was supposed to come at 10am on a Saturday. Because of what happened the first time, you can imagine I was on their ass about the second appointment. So the day of, I called the store because this guy never showed up (another no-show). They said oh umm we will send someone , he will be there 3-3:30 his name is Walter. So my guess is the first contractor got lazy and didn't want to do the job, so they literally called someone else that day to ask him to come. 3pm rolls around and this 'Walter' guy arrives. No equipment in hand. Half asleep (he told my dad he was sleeping when they called him). He takes a look at our backsplash and I guess decided it was too much work, because he said BRB and that he was going to go buy cement. Instead, he went to the granite store and told Helen he needs my drywall to be replaced and requires a full day. Well, if he had come on time in the AM he would've had a full day from start to finish. Helen called me and said it's an extra $450 to replace drywall. I said OK, that's fine. At this point I just wanted the job done because we were going on two weeks without a kitchen to use (the sink faucet couldn't be hooked until backsplash is done). She said the contractor will come back tomorrow and work on it all day. Well the next day, he didn't show up. So I cancelled the entire job because I said we don't have time to play these games and waste our valuable time. My final thoughts: I think if the company contracted with good people who really needed jobs, they wouldn't have these issues. And their contractors would respect them. There is a lack of respect and communication between them and their people. The first part of my experience (purchasing my slab) went well. It's unfortunate the labor didn't go as at all how I thought it would go. So now i've been 3 weeks without a kitchen to use.... because what was a 1 day installation turned into a 3 week nightmare. read more

Beware. These guys are a rip off. Check the reviews, 5 stars seem their own guys. My experience: They installed my countertop, I paid thousands. 10 months later, I spotted a hairline crack, normally invisible, but you could feel it with your fingernails. A hairline crack could only occur during production or due to bad installation. I called them. Without even seeing the crack, they blamed me of dropping something on it and cracking the countertop. I told it was a hairline crack, but no one listened. Worse: Even if I was within the one-year warranty, they said my warranty was over. Can you believe? games, games, games... read more

We were Harvey victims, and needed to replace three bathroom vanities and a builtin buffet. After a lot of looking, we found Houston Granite & Marble Center. Helen could not have been more helpful or generous in her pricing. She worked with us to find great looking granite at a great price. I saw a contractor very unhappy with her because she told a customer how much her granite cost, making it hard for him to tack on that extra 25%. I also heard someone trying to pay less than the agreed upon price- after installation! These people probably left some of the one-star reviews here. Be nice and work with Helen for the best results. Very unprofessional and terrible customer service. Tried multiple times to get a quote for some granite work. I called several times and described the scope and gave rough dimensions . Each time I was told they would return my call with a quote, but they never did. Jerry was the person I spoke with and every time I spoke to him he was very condescending and talked down to me. I called several times asking for him to return my call, but he never bothered. Huge waste of my time. I called Houston Granite after American Fabricators bumped up my estimate by several hundred dollars due to their error. The identical quartz countertop was less at Houston Granite. I was hesitant to use Houston Granite because I wasn't sure about their work quality. We had a minor hiccup when I found out the lady that came out to measure didn't indicate on the order that we had an undermount double sink so that bumped the estimate up slightly, but still much less than American Fabricators. And we could get it installed within 1 week. The guys that installed my countertop did an excellent job. I'm glad I decided to go with Houston Granite. read more

Helen is wonderful (and patient!)! I went to Houston Granite for soapstone, so hard to find anywhere else. I waivered back and forth between granite and soapstone, but Helen was patient, let me take home samples, and in the end I came back to the soapstone. Helen worked her "magic" to bring the project very close to budget and made me feel that getting the materials I wanted was more important than anything. She and John are very personable and made us feel very comfortable through the whole purchase. I can hardly wait to get my counters installed! Thank you Helen and John! read more

Where do I even begin? I went here in November before Thanksgiving to pick a remnant piece for my new laundry room. Done. Picked it, then they scheduled a day to send out someone to measure the space. The guy showed up that day, measured, left, then my doorbell rang and another guy was there to measure. No one even knew both came or why. So unorganized. Then, they scheduled a day to do the install. The day before the install, they called and said we are sorry, your piece won't work. It's an inch short. I spent the day calling around looking for another matching piece somewhere else. No luck. Then, the very next day, they called to say oh sorry, yes, it will work. Here's your new install day. THEN, same thing, called the day before. We are sorry, we don't know what happened. It won't work. So, I come back into the store, spend an hour there and choose a whole new piece. It gets better! Just wait. I fell in love with the 2nd piece I chose. We scheduled the install day. The evening prior to the install, they call me and say - we don't know what happened, but we have your original piece cut and ready to go. HUH??? I said well, I don't want that piece now. You said it wouldn't work 3 times. I came in and picked a new piece. He told me he'd have to ask the owner, whose response was - All we did was our job. Thats the piece she wanted. It's cut. She needs to take it. Wait, what? The last thing you all have done is your job! At this point we are about 3 weeks later, mind you, they had already charged me for the 1st piece. Guess what?? They show up to install that original piece, and it's the WRONG piece!! It's getting comical. I send them away. Jerry calls and says hmmm, I don't know what is going on. I can't locate your piece? ( so you just send some random piece to install in my house without my approval??) We will cut the 2nd one you chose. Ok great, let's get it done. They schedule that install. They come to the house and it's the WRONG piece too! What is wrong with these people?! Waste of all of my time! I finally call and say forget it! Refund me my money, which they did. Just simply ridiculous. Never ever again!! read more
