I have bought and sold many homes but never had inspection team as low grade and lousy as Mike L. Weible and Master Craft. They showed up 45 minutes early which was inappropriate and they did not give us time to exit our home. We had an agreed upon signed contract to sell our home AS IS. Mike unturned very rock that he deemed necessary and placed it on his inspection report. It is obvious that he does not understand HVAC or GFCIs nor doors he know the national electric code and how it functions. We were at the closing table when he spiked our buyer with his bias report. It appears he showed up with an agenda to destroy our sell when he met us. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND MIKE OR HIS COMPANY. What a terrible inspector. read more

I have bought and sold 4 homes in the last 8 years and NEVER have I come across an inpsector as lousy as this one. This inspector came w4 people.....I have no idea if they are licensed or not; but they each selected a portion of the house and as far as I could see; there was no communication between the inspector and the "others". One of them had the nerve to set up computer equipment, printers, etc. on my solid wood, brand new kitchen/breakfast table and scratched it. There was a granite sitdown bar top which could of held this equipment without doing damage to my property. The BIGGEST problem was that the inspector told the Buyer that we had black mold in the attic around the a/c lines. We had it ispected by an air conditioning company and there is no "black" mold. We lost our buyer because of his sloppiness. We did need to make a repair to the small unit and had that done yesterday; but it was too late. Other things he reported incorrectly: His report claimed we didn't have any splashblocks under downspouts under the gutters; when in fact, there are splashblocks under every single downspout. They also claimed that "soil levels" in front of the garage are too high. There is no soil in front of the garage, it's cement! They also claimed that the soil levels were too high in front of the brick columns to the front landscaping where it meets the front porch, when in fact there is a french drain with ROCKS......not dirt. These columns are attached to the front porch; not the foundation of the house. The inspector recommended that 4-6" of soil in the landscaping be removed. ??? Claimed there were "cracked floor tiles (plural) outside of the downstairs bedroom...... there is a tiny scratch in the very corner tile; but you cannot even feel it without using your fingernail. It's a scratch.....not a "crack" and it's certainly not tiles.....*plural"..... They also claimed there were more cracked tiles outside of the door to the garage. The garage floor is epoxy; not tile. He also put the sprinkler system down as broken. In fact, I had turned the water off because I needed to change the timer; but I realized I didn't know how to do it and ended up turning all zones on at the same time and so I turned it off......but he wasn't listening. Every time I tried to talk to him; he laughed at me. He appeared to me to think women were stupid. Example: We have a "dry bar" in the butler's pantry; NO WATER.....but I have a Keurig coffee pot on the counter......he counted that room as part of the kitchen; when I asked him why he said "Well, YOU put a coffee pot in there".......???? I couldn't believe the rudeness and sexist and mysoginist attitude of this man. My husband is out of the state working and could not be here. He said he would prefer if the man of the house was here. What????? He was very condensding and it seemed he thinks all women are stupid. The owners prior to us had taken the third tandem garage and built walls & added a door and made an air conditioned workshop; we wanted it converted back to a garage, which they did and it was re-inspected...but this inspector disregarded this and instead said that it appeared that we had done "repairs" to the ceiling in the garage which we could be trying to hide water damage. We have already lost our buyer...........we intend to hire our own inspector to come behind and go over every single line item to determine what is right and what is wrong, and then I am going to file a complaint with the state and local governments. We purchased this house 14 months ago. We had it thoroughly inspected and the only issue was a coil in the upstairs unit needed to be replaced and there was a small area of flashing that needed to be nailed down. That's it........ This "inspection" business is subject to the biases of each individual inspector, instead of going by a set of rules. This cost us a $435,000.00 sale. By the way, this guy isn't even listed with the Better Business Bureau. To me, that's a red flag right away. Recommendation: JUST SAY NO!!!!!! Call Chad Ware......we've used him twice. Wasn't really pleased with their work. Recommended by our realtor (possible kick-back), but I would recommend other companies first. They missed some obvious inspection items and once one of the two-man team members were finished with their checklist (again, not thorough), they proceeded to sit on the fireplace and play on their phone instead of completing a thorough inspection, trying to help their team member to finish sooner, or at least being professional. Did receive a nice book of the inspection results, but they were rushed to provide the report so there were gaps, errors, and again glaring inspection items missed. Nice owner. Overall, overpriced and lower quality inspection service. read more

We had a home inspection completed by Mike and his son yesterday and found it to be thorough and clear as to what was checked and what was not. He did an on-site complete review at the end providing us with a binder and printed out report including other relevant documents. The presentation was excellent, he was patient with all our questions, and the price was reasonable. We will not yet know if major items were missed until time has passed, but as of now we feel much more informed about our purchase!! I highly recommend. read more

They were great. Easy to schedule and showed up on time. Very thorough and priced competitively.

They missed many major items during the inspection including an electrical outlet that sparks and obvious water damage in the ceiling. They also said they couldn't find the outside dryer vent even though it is right above the living room window. They also said the home was missing access to the jacuzzi tub plumbing, but the access was just on the other side of the wall. They couldn't locate the main water cutoff even though it was by the front door. There was no mention of the advertised "infrared camera" in the report so I have doubts they used it. Overall, it appeared to be a poorly performed and rushed inspection. They were very timely with the bill though. read more

His review seemed pretty thorough when it was done, but I unfortunately found out the hard way it wasn't as thorough as it seemed. The summer after closing on the home one of the HVAC unit evaporators failed, which was fortunately covered under the home warranty. What wasn't covered was the fact that decking in the attic was not surrounding the unit as required by code, so the HVAC repair folks wouldn't fix it until I had that installed, an almost $1K bill that could have and should have been noted in the home inspection when I bought the house. read more

The team did a great job finding all the issues the buyer didn't disclose. I walked the outside with one of the inspectors and my mother walked the inside with another team member. They had little recorders they each used to take down their notes. They would hand their recorders to the team member that was capturing all the information in the computer system and get a clean one to use while she listened and typed up the information. They took pictures to document what they were finding. We saw what they were finding because they were willing to show us. They were friendly and didn't mind us asking questions. I can imagine a home owner hating an inspection crew like this one. They were detailed and found many issues. They got each others' opinions on things and worked as a great team. We had our report in a binder as we were leaving and then they emailed me an electronic version before the end of the day. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing a home inspection. Had they not taken the time they did and identified the issues they did, we would have ended up buying a house that needs $50,000 worth of repairs. Great job Mastercraft Team!!! read more
