Listen up! "Hot" actually means "hot" at HHC. (Exactly the opposite of Taco Bell.) My chicken was "Spicy", and it was all this spicy-food lover could handle. For transparency, this review is part of a yelpers event with free food. But you didn't need to bribe me- I love it. First, I love hot chicken. It's addictive. Like southern fried chicken breaking bad. I first had it at Hattie B's in Nashville. Hot! I mean really hot! And absolutely cravable. I had sort of given up on good hot chicken outside of Tennessee (not a fan of the other local spots in BCS), so I was excited to try Houston Hot Chicken. Stylish and functional interior, with good sized tables, comfy chairs. A little loud for talking. The best reason to come is the excellent staff, though. They explain all the different spice levels and are educated about the restaurant and their offerings. Super helpful and well trained folks (which anyone in BCS knows is remarkable in a town of college student staffed fast food). Sade, who helped me, is the best! I had a meal that included one tender at the Spicy Level and a Medium level sandwich, and subbed cole slaw for the fries. Also had a scrumptious strawberry hibiscus frosty lemonade - pro tip: get it half and half frozen and liquid for the perfect drinkability. Well, I should have eaten the sandwich before the tender because I blew out my palette on the addictive spiciness and succulent texture of the tender. 13/10 for pure tasty pain. The coleslaw, while not remarkable on its own, is a welcome break. The dipping sauce is fine but honestly, it added more texture than taste when you're eating at Spicy Level and above. I also like how you get the traditional hot chicken finish on the meat but without it coming across like a grease bomb (although your bright orange fingers will tell a different tale). I blew my spice induced runny nose about 35 times. The sandwich, supposedly medium spicy, was pretty mild at this point lol. Very tasty. The slaw and pickles provide a nice crunch and texture. Good bun, too, and nicely toasted. This is a great spot for hot chicken and even mild chicken. The no spice and honey butter levels are good for even the wimpiest diners . If you are a chile head, it's a no brainer, definitely go. And don't miss the slushes! read more

Came here with my wife for our first ever Yelp related event. Wasn't really an event, but it was coordinated with Yelp. My wife and I rsvp'd so we each got a free chicken sandwich, 1 tender, fries, and a fountain drink. It was approximately a $38 value, but free sounded better lol. We got everything mild except for 1 tender, which was homey butter flavored. We also ordered takeout. We ordered the 15pcs nuggets, Fusion Fries, side waffles, and a strawberry shake. Anyways, EVERYTHING was flavorful and on point. The fries, chicken, and nuggets were crispy and well seasoned. The house sauce was a tad on the sweeter side, but very delicious. The presentation was deliciously beautiful. The Fusion Fries had tons of flavor and juicy. The strawberry shake was thicker than most shakes, so those boba type straws and a spoon was a must to destroy this dessert lol. Overall, decent price for a quality meal. Similar to Dave's Hot Chicken or Urban Hot Chicken, but I gotta say, this was overall, a better experience and the flavor was a bit better than the others. Houston TX Hot Chicken takes the championship belt on the quality of their chicken tenders, nuggets, and sandwiches, ambiance, staff, quickness, and overall menu. Staff are super friendly and nice. Lots of indoor and outdoor dining available. Very clean looking. This place has been open for a little over a month. Lots of parking in front, but you have to pay unless it was storming like it was and no one goes outside to check so it was free lol. Nah, but if you're looking for free parking, there is a nearby parking garage, but you'd have to walk for a few minutes. read more

Great Chicken, and Friendly Service. This was my first time having Houston Hot Chicken. Needless to say, it was killer. The meat was very moist and fries were super crispy. Spicy was just right, (got a medium spice) I would say slightly better than DHC. And well worth another visit. read more

The whole experience was kinda "meh". I'm not a fan of the house sauce. Im sure it's good for other people, but it's not my taste.

Tried for the first time and really liked it. I had the original chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce; my husband had the sandwich with medium heat and then a spicy chicken tender. All of it -- great! Crinkle fries were crisp. The staff member we interacted with was so kind and welcoming; wish I had asked her name so that I could give her a shout-out. The only downside is the price. Terrible service, My friend and I purchased a milkshake, alongside food entrees at around 9pm last night. The man checking us out gave us 2 small cups (we didn't request them). We put soda in the cups, shortly after a staff member came up to us and told us to dump out the soda because they were water cups, we immediately dumped the soda and got water! 20 minutes later after we got our food she called us up to the counter and tried to make us pay for the sodas that neither of us drank. We tried to reason with her because we didn't drink the sodas. She then proceeded to tell me that I looked dumb and compared us misusing the water cups to her ripping the necklace off my neck. Maybe she was having a bad day but the exchange was extremely unprofessional. She was aggressive, she kept accusing us of stealing very loudly in front of the entire restaurant, all over a water cup.
