I ate for the first time at a Chicken Express on 10/16/2025. The restaurant was located on Earl Rudder Frwy in College Station, TX. Very disappointed and a waste of $11.14. I ordered the two piece chicken combo with French fries and white meat; Coke Zero for a beverage. The fried chicken was incredibly bland and I don't eat spicy food. Original and Extra Crispy KFC chicken has to much more flavor than did the breading at CE. The French fries were non-descript. I had about five of them and quit eating them; not great at all. The only thing that was good was the homemade roll and the Coke Zero. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. I would recommend going to KFC before this place. read more

Well here we are again. I live out in the county and stopped to pick up chicken for the family 115 dollar order and once again get home without my whole order. Their attitude was we are so sorry drive back k to town and we will fix it. Or you can come back within 7 days and we will give you the sides you didn't get tonight. Chicken Express chain made changes to menu, without changing it on menu boards, webpages or the registers in stores. Employees are having to tell each customer "we don't do that anymore". No more biscuits. You can get a roll. The biscuits were the DESSERT. With honey they were mouth watering. Also, you could order a combo meal and if it included "one side and 1 tea", it said in parenthesis you could "substitute the tea for one side." No more! We ordered a "7 tender combo with fried okra and substitute for the tea with corn nuggets". We were told we could not substitute for the tea. We could order the nuggets as a side. That would be an additional $3.08. Total would be $13 something so a total of about $20, WRONG! The manager reads the order back and says that it was for a FOUR PIECE tender combo! We said we ordered a 7 Express tender meal. Price for that be well over $20! We were there, we were hungry and said give us the mistaken order you have of four tenders and okra then the separate order for nuggets for about $20. Got home and checked internet. 4 piece tender dinner WITH TWO SIDES FOR $11.94. NINE DOLLARS DIFFERENCE! Chicken Express is outright committing fraud or lying in advertising or something. Whatever it is should be illegal. It is shameful and I encourage customers to check out the difference on what you used to pay and what it cost now. The manager said, "the management is telling us we have to do it this way." I said but your menu and webpages have not changed! He shook his head and said, "yes, we are embarrassed, they have not changed the register, and this is what we have to do to get what you want. I'm sorry." The guy looked sad, I am sure he was not happy trying to explain what was going on. So, I did not rant. I said, "no offense buddy, but this must suck." Visited this location this evening. They messed up the order while I was ordering it, then they had to re-ring the order up. When giving me my food, they gentleman read the order to me but I just had a feeling that it would be incorrect & i was right. So I had to go back inside and have them correct it. They have 5+ employees in there working and half of them seem clueless as to what their job is. Never had an experience like that here. read more

The last TWO times that have gone to this particular location they have messed my order both times. Each time I've called them. When I crave fast food chicken, this is what i want for sure :) . Definitely love their chicken and how you can choose which piece you want. Anytime ordering a meal, you can either do 2 sides or 1 side and drink. If you get the drink, just pay to make it the biggest size for sure. Meals can come with a roll or biscuit, but either one is delicious for sure. Sides are good, but definitely chicken is what keels me coming back. Going drive thru, they always are great at repeating back your order and making sure you have everything before leaving. One of the best and affordable places to get fast food fried chicken. I wished they had locations in Houston. I got the COMBO #4 TWO PIECE CHICKEN. I heard that Chicken Express has some of the best DR. PEPPER. Random but I can vouch that it was pretty good. The large was 32oz and I finished the whole thing. For my side, I got the CORN NUGGETS. The breast and thigh were way bigger than I expected. They were tender and had an extremely crunchy breading. My friend got the 4 piece tenders. The fries were nice and crispy and even though he isn't a fan of gravy he really liked the white gravy it came with because it was super peppery. Their sweet tea is diabetes. It's a little overwhelming. I recommend mixing unsweet and sweet tea to even it out. This would be one of my go-to places to go for fried chicken but alas I will just have to enjoy it when I'm in a town that has it. read more

Ordered fish inside of the location, was told it would be 15 mins. Waited inside while they gave all the orders to other customers. When I asked the status of my order I was told 2 more mins. Once again another order handed to someone else. Was told the cook was confused with the orders and I was the one left without an order, I already paid for. Had to wait 30 mins for a 3 pc express fish order. While they were speaking in Spanish and laughing etc due to me being frustrated. Asked for chicken tenders meal but got chicken on a bone meal instead. And they shorted me 1 piece of chicken of that, plus getting mostly wings and legs. Of 6 rolls, 3 look like someone sat a heavy box and flattened 3 of them and were trash at best. Asked for large fried okra and didn't get any. One mashed potato looked like it had a thumb indentation in it. I called about these errors as this was a drive thru order by my husband. He was upset saying they got the order completely wrong, and DIDN'T LISTEN TO HIM. He bought the chicken out of love for me and felt his efforts were thwarted due to so many mistakes. I wanted my husband to feel better. I was not upset as I understood mistakes happen, and although disappointed, was not angry and would allow the restaurant to remedy their mistakes. I called before eating at home and was told not to worry about coming back anytime soon, to come back in at my convenience. Just bring my receipt and explain what happened and they will make it right. I am chronically ill and disabled, getting out only once a month as it is a hardship on my body. So, the next day after running errands, I went inside with my receipt and explained what happened. A nice but resistant blue shirt manager in photo wanted me to go home get all the food left and come back a 3rd time with remaining food plus my receipt, only then will he will support my claim. I said that's not what the woman on the phone told me when I called the day before. I said it was an inconvenience and asked if the restaurant reimbursed for gas for 2 extra trips to get our order right? He said no. So I said I would go home, eat some chicken, and bring back the rest for a full refund since they don't refund for gas or inconvenience to customers when they get the order wrong. He said he would only refund for what we returned, nothing more. Despite the fact we were shorted on pieces of chicken and other items we paid for. I said I would take a photo which the nice blue shirt manager posed for. I said I would post a public review online. Then things turned ugly as an employee guy in a gray shirt to his right ordered me to delete the photo or he would call police on me. I said he didn't know the law, this was a public space, and I had rights to photograph and post this photo which he posed for. Then angry gray shirt employee ordered me immediately to leave the restaurant or he would call police who would put me in handcuffs and arrest me dragging me out of the restaurant. I said shame on you three times. A table of three customers witnessing the spectacle started strongly clapping loudly and boldly for me trying to hold this business accountable. One customer strongly clapping, a woman, stood up applauding for me defending my rights at being bullied and threatened out of the restaurant without resolve. (To me, the restaurant was in violation of the law via Theft of Services, and/or Assault by Threat.) I was deeply moved by the strangers public display for me. Their support was both verbal support and loud clapping gestures. They even stopped eating their food and stood up applauding me. If nothing else, I felt vindicated by these three customers. I smiled and waived to them thanking them. The woman standing told me to call my bank about what happened, and I thanked her again telling her I would call them. I started towards the door and nearly tripped on a rug that was upended. Then I heard someone say get the he// out of here, and turned around to see who said it. Then I heard someone say I hope you trip and break your neck, again not seeing who said it. But I replied, if I do trip and hurt myself, you know who I will be suing. I then walked over the rug and got in my vehicle with my receipt and no missing items or credit, no resolve, only threats and bullying, and then I drove home. Had they simply made things right as promised over the phone, I was going to purchase an additional large family fish dinner to take home. They would have had my extra cash, my trust, my future business and my respect, as well as a good review from me to post with this picture in the community. Instead, they made a foolish greedily motivated spectacle of themselves to me in front of other customers, as well as bad conduct to witnessing employees. They lost a loyal patient customer for life in me, (and possibly other customers who witnessed the threats, disrespect, and treatment of another customer.) They lost my respect and instead gained this sad review showing how their simple mistake can get turned upside down. What it looks like from the shoes of a customer who came in expecting a harmonious resolve to a simple matter as human error over food. Hurting customer relations​. My friend bought my the non spicy tender meal with mashed potatoes and green beans for the sides and a biscuit The quality of everything was of the finest ingredients. The tenders were naturally a little sweet with a natural very fragrant flavor so no season was needed but were salted perfectly. The buscit was soft and butter. The mashed potatoes were creamy, strong and didn't need seasoning. The gravy was very delicious but was hardly noticable because the tenders were the best quality. For a quick take home meal I wanted maybe fried liver, or gizzards . Those are our favorite, they take a few minutes longer but always well worth the wait. The low hot sun was really beating down through the windshield. I chose not to sit and wait for them in the parking lot. I decided to go order inside in the A/C . The nice young lady at the counter was so helpful and patient with my order. Someone else brought my order to my table. She was equally courteous. The name Hailey was printed on my receipt. How is this place still in business? I worked there in high school. I get it was a long time ago, but they had huge tenders and always added 1-2 more than your order for a good price. The 7 piece tenders is now over $16 after tax, the tenders are tiny with no extra and when I asked for a honey mustard packet at the window she told me I could give my gravy back or pay an extra $0.81. I like their food, but I'm going to have to stop eating there. The price for the combo meals has gone up $3 in the past year and a half or so. That is no longer inexpensive, especially when you consider the cost of what you're getting. The cheapest kind of meat you can buy at the grocery store, along with rolls or biscuits (which are also not cheap), and a side and a drink or two sides. If you put all this together, you get about $2.50 worth of food for $11. I realize we are paying for overhead and employees' salaries, as well as the CEO's mortgages, but I am afraid most of the money is going to the last one. They no longer need my money. The older manager wasn't there this time. The lady started taking are order and walked away and another gentleman helped us. He was very rude and barely gave us time to order. I needed something quick and inexpensive for lunch that I could take home and eat (providing my own utensils/drink) and I had been craving chicken. I hadn't gone to a Chicken Express for a long time. In the past, I went there when I craved decent and slightly oily chicken and/or sides... (Don't judge me! You probably crave decent greasy food sometimes too!) they seemed to have lowered the grease ratio and upped the taste! Great chicken, inexpensive. Strangely - I had to wait over 15 minutes for the express chicken tenders combo. That was my only complaint though. I also got poppers (jalepeno poppers) instead of a drink. Love this place-- don't tell anyone but I come here way too often. Sometimes you might get chicken that's a little dry or fries that lack salt but, when they're on their game, which is most of the time, it's amazing. Juicy and tender. Chicken Express: an apropos name. I always get hot wings, nicely made, and not saucy like buffalo wings. The fried okra is okay, but the real stars of the sides are the poppers and the corn nuggets. The lobby is pretty clean and well maintained. The food is pretty good but kinda expensive. It is kinda exactly the same as Raising Canes or Laynes with the exception that they use gravy instead of the Tangy orange sauce that the other places use. They also serve pickle chips which are a little too salty compared to southern style eateries like Wings and More. The main point i want to make about this place is that they use Dr Pepper that is made from real cane sugar. Its pretty far from campus so thats the only reason I would not go eat here often but it was a very good place. read more
