Cornbread is almost always offered, as is baked beans. Maybe that was in the old days? I got fries on the side which were hot and abundant. As for Houston TX Hot Chicken (such a mouthful for a name), it has an industrial feel with exposed ductwork, concrete floors, and weird lighting. There were numerous tables, so this place can accommodate a crowd. This fast-casual chain offers chicken nuggets and tenders in various formats - with a side, in a bun, and on fries and salads. I had the nuggets with fries, in the honey butter sauce, and sampled a chicken tender, in mild sauce. Both were tender with a nice crunch. Some of the nuggets were small, disappointing, especially given the higher price. The fries were fresh and hot, crispy with a tender, fluffy inside. First time visiting this joint and never been to a place like this before. The ambiance is electric, bright, neon, overly stimulating with loud electronic house music and bright pictures on the walls. Personally not a fan of the ambiance and glad we did take-out. The service was nothing to write home about. The staff didn't smile, but they were helpful. You have the option to order at the counter or on the touch screen monitor inside. You can also order online through Yelp, and I believe there were some Door Dash drivers coming to pick up deliveries as well. Not sure about other platforms. They did also double check our order... but one of the sauce lids busted open and spilled inside the whole bag. So I'd double check that before you leave. The food is essentially chicken and fries in different forms. They also have a couple salads. The Southwest Salad was delicious! Lots of flavor, fresh and generously sized. Would go back just for that again - just seemed a bit pricey. $15 In general, I'd say the chicken is really for people who like spicy food. We didn't try the "no spice" or the "honey butter"... nor did we try the "Lift off" or "Houston we have a problem" spice level... but I CANT EVEN IMAGINE HOW SPICY they are!! The mild spice level is for people who like a little kick. The medium is for people who like spicy foods - for sake of comparison: people who order their Indian food medium-spicy. The spicy is really over the top. My son who eats Taki's and Hot Cheetos and that sort of thing was crying at his tongue burning with the "spicy" level. Water made it worse. Soothing his tongue with a piece of bread helped him cool off... but I can't imagine what that will feel like in the way out!! Ouch!! The family all said if we go back we'll get mild level and most everyone liked the salad. It comes with corn, shredded cheese, chicken (with the spice level of your choosing), romaine lettuce and a cilantro ranch dressing. I used half cilantro ranch and half ranch. It was perfect. I also did half mild and half medium chicken. The ranch is the yummy restaurant ranch and the house sauce is a nice sweet and spicy sauce. Cheesy sauce is like a thickened cheese sauce like cheese whiz with a thickener. I'd describe the chicken itself as crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Not overly greasy nor flavorful by itself. The fries were on point. Crinkle fries with seasoning done right. Peppermint shake was a bit overkill with the ground peppermint inside. The blueberry lavender lemonade was a lot of sugar and flavoring. Not recommended. The regular lemonade frozen drink also had artificial flavoring screaming at me... I got really excited when I heard about a new Hot Chicken spot in Novi -- it's been such a big trend recently, but after having lived near Nashville and experiencing so many iterations of Nashville Hot Chicken, I'm always stoked to try different options for Hot Chicken! The ambiance in the restaurant is interesting -- it feels like a classy bachelor pad became a chicken restaurant overnight. Overall pretty cool, and offers most of the amenities you'd expect for a fast casual style restaurant: plenty of seating, easy layout, etc. The staff is super nice, patient, and offers recommendations if you've never been there before; very helpful and we appreciated it! The food is where I was a little underwhelmed. The value proposition is fairly solid, and you get a good amount of food for the price, not to mention that they offer a lot of variation in spice levels and varieties of chicken you can order. I will say the spice calibration is set up to where the spicy level is just shy of a spicy chicken from a Wendy's or McDonald's. This is not what I'd expect from any restaurant quality Hot Chicken, and especially not what I'd expect from a place that specializes in Hot Chicken. Overall, I think there are so many good options for food in this area -- personally... I'd probably skip Houston TX Hot Chicken and try something else. read more

Last night I had dinner here, and I just have to say I was very impressed by everything. The food was delicious and incredibly the best fried hot chicken I have ever had!! The breading they use on the chicken tenders was full of so much wonderful goodness flavor!! It got the butter one, yes I am a wimp when it comes to hot spice. The chicken was so fresh and it was garnished with a slice of pickle on each tender. The chicken was definitely hot and cooked to perfection. The pickles had some of the seasoning of the tenders on it which made the pickles taste even better. The crinkle French fries were lightly seasoned with some wonderful Cajun seasoning which was really great! I love it when restaurants only lightly season their fries it was the perfect amount of seasoning. I was lucky enough to speak with the owner of this delicious establishment and he was very pleasant and gave me a little history about where the first restaurant got started at which was in Las Vegas, Nevada believe it or not. The atmosphere of this restaurant was very nice and modern. Loved the neon pinkish/purple main countertops of the restaurant. Not to mention all of the really cool huge pictures of sports cars on the walls. Whomever painted the mural on the main wall when you come in is definitely very talented. It really fit the theme of the restaurant with the sports cars and so on! The leather chairs for the tables of the restaurant are so comfortable!! The service at this restaurant is impeccable and very fast!! This chicken is definitely far more better than Chic-Fil-a or Raising Cane's. My husband likes their spicy chicken here. He was here for their opening week. Especially their tenders or sandwiches. He and the staff enjoy their chicken for lunch here and there. We recently got some spicy chicken wings this week and their Carolina Reaper is something else. I see why a Waiver is required. The staff had to exit the kitchen after making my husband's wings, it burns your eyes and makes you cough inhaling it at all. My husband had only one single wing. It was okay at first, but it's that slow and painful burn that lasts for hours. He met his match. It caused him to bring it back up shortly after consumption. It's as if his body was rejecting it. He also had to drink milk to help coat his stomach. It still caused him stomach aches the rest of the day. My husband said he has learned his lesson, no Carolina Reaper unless he wants to feel like a slow death the rest of the day. I can handle medium at most spicy. Habanero is 100k-350k Scovilles, Tabasco is 30k-50k Scoville. Jalapeño is 2,500-5,000 Scovilles. Ghost pepper is 1M Scovilles. First, I have to say this was the friendliest staff ever. From the time we were greeted when we walked in the door to being checked on multiple times after we had our meals, every single employee was outgoing and had great customer service. I got the original hot chicken sandwich (medium spice level) & my husband got the 2 tenders and waffles (honey butter & medium spice level). Both were good. I liked the sandwich better. The combination of the sauce, slaw, pickles & chicken melded well and it was served perfectly hot. The fries were good too. On the sandwich it was perfect for me but for tendies solo it was HOT. So beware of the spice level. I go medium now and its the perfect amount of heat without having to worry about a burnt bum bum. We ordered a large order for our office as well and was impressed that the order was spot on and labeled nicely.
