The fries were good -- some pieces were nice and crispy, and they paired well with ketchup. You could definitely taste the difference from frozen fries; they seemed to be made from fresh potatoes, unlike the ones at McDonald's. Unfortunately, the sandwich was a letdown. The avocado turkey is very delicious and tasty. I had it on multi grain bread which adds more flavor. It was not hot because I like my sandwich's cold. The lettuce was fresh and so was the turkey . My favorite sub place. I can't pick a favorite, all of them are great. I switch it up, BLT, Pizza, Italian, Reuben among others. Delicious! My wife usually gets the Philly steak and cheese. Service is excellent, staff is friendly. I always get some fresh cut fries with the skin on. Best fries anywhere, as is the freshly squeezed lemonade. A bit pricey, but nowadays, what isn't? I've had missing items and salty steak subs from here before but the poor service/lack of care is truly what disappoints. I called ahead for pickup and was told it would only be 10 mins. 30 mins later, my subs were sitting behind their counter getting cold while they were amused by a plastic pizza sauce packet they'd cooked in the oven. This is definitely one of those places that I wish I could give half stars to, it's almost to a 4 in my book, but not quite. I really enjoy their hot toasted subs (I haven't had one that I've disliked) and when I'm occasionally splurging -their French fries. (Allergen alert: they're made with peanut oil) Personally I'm not a big fan of their homemade lemonade (I know, I'm in the minority here) because it's too bitter & tart for my liking. I'm also don't like to make a habit out of adding sugar to my food, so it's not enjoyable to add enormous amounts of sugar to balance out the bitterness. The main reason I wouldn't give this location extra stars is due to it's inconsistency of customer service. There have been many times when I've been greeted right away and my order has been quickly made and I've been pleased with the overall experience. However, I've had equally as many times where I've waited too long to place an order without being greeted, waited to check out for too long, or just unpleased with the overall customer service& snippy remarks. I'd recommend calling ahead of time to place an order during the lunch hour, however that can also be really inconsistent in how well it's handled. Hubby brought me carryout from here a few days ago. I've been trying to eat healthy, so he brought me a roasted veggie sub. It sounded so blah that I was really not looking forward to it. But it was yummy! The veggies were slow roasted, so the onions were carmelized and sweet, forming a nice base for the red and green peppers. Penn Station is a solid option for a good cheesesteak, especially for a sandwich chain. I've been to multiple locations, and the food is consistently good - this one is no exception. I judge a cheesesteak by 4 main components: bread, steak, onion, cheese. The sub rolls are on the high end for a chain, and always nicely toasted (something I think is important for helping absorb the meat juices). Steak is good quality, well chopped, perfectly seasoned, has good grill flavor, and is juicy. Onions are well grilled, and cooked with the steak, adding moisture and flavor - I also appreciate that they're sliced, and not diced. Cheese is provolone (though, I think they have other options), and they're not skimpy. All around - Penn Station delivers a solid sandwich. Fries are a must here. There is nothing better than a golden brown, crispy, fresh-cut fry. Penn Station is probably in my top-5 fries all time. I also love their fresh-squeezed lemonade. I only review the men's room of restaurants. This place is just about the perfect public restroom. A large single person restroom with 1 toilet and 1 urinal. From the fresh cut Potatoes fries (fried in peanut oil) freshly squeezed lemonade, and mouth watering subs! They use high quality meats, mustards and sauces, and make it all freshly right in front of you! It does take a little bit of time for your food to come out after you order it. But trust me, ITS WORTH IT! I ordered the Dagwood sub, with succulent Turkey, Ham, Salami and Pepperoni. It was to die for! Hot and full of mouth watering veggies and peppers with HOT melted swiss and provolone. I couldn't stop eating. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE MENU! I ordered a Philidelphia Cheesesteak and didn't completely read the menu and when I got it home, it has pizza sauce on it. Having never had any other place put pizza sauce on my Philidelphia Cheesesteak, I wasn't expecting it and I found it unappealing. The french fries were greasy and soft. I prefer my fries crispy. The girls behind the counter were friendly though, it was my own fault for not reading through all the ingredients on the menu board, I just wasn't expecting pizza sauce to be listed. On my most recent trip (last Friday) I actually noticed while I placed my order, Chicken teriaki, that they actually fry up the chicken from raw. I was so pleased to see this level of freshness in a sub place...I mean when compared to how unfresh subway's food can be sometimes (Squeezed out of a tube avocado...gross!) I always get philly cheesesteak subs everywhere else I go basically because they are uncomparable but the chicken teriaki here is amazing with the added banana pepper, mushrooms and onions. Kinda salty tasting (from the sauce I assume) so make sure to taste before you go all ham on the adding salt to your food here. The fries are amazing and cut in front of you, seriously while you wait watch them prepare stuff and you'll see the fries being cut and cooked in front of you. Also the cookies mmmm moist and gorgeous. AND they also provide vinegar too for your fries, coming from Ireland we put salt and vinegar on our fries almost always, so that was a great bonus. I'd love them to get the new coke machine with all the various flavours lol that would be a great bonus. The subs are great on a lazy saturday afternoon when you have the munchies from an all night party around town. My only complaint is that no matter how many times I have been here they still CANNOT get my sub prepared the way I ordered it and the way it is printed on the receipt.
