As my first ever dining experience in Canada, it did not disappoint! We were greeting by a wonderful staff and seated promptly. We ordered a burger and fries and it was top tier. My husband had a great beer as well. The view from outside the window while eating was phenomenal. You could see the mountains and they were stunning. I can't wait to come back.

We had been there once before and we drove back for it from Vancouver, which says a lot. There is something about the vibe of this place. Once you walk through the doors....it feels like you're home, open the fridge grab a beer and sit back and enjoy the view by the fire....that kinda feel ...you know? We were there at Happy Hour. Loved the Howe Sound Lager...had it with the fish n chips which was so good we ordered it twice. My first time trying fried pickles....it paired really well with the Lager. I'll tell you how. The Howe Sound Lager is a perfect mix between a crisp/light and creamy taste with a wonderful aftertaste finish of citrusy fruit hinting at floral. Super refreshing and top notch quality. Anything fried including fried pickles are on the heavier side because of the batter, but with the flavour profile of the pickles you now have the spice and sharp juice complementing beer texture. A Perfect Dance. The Dirty Fries I probably wouldn't order again. Not that there was anything wrong with it...it was a good side for HH....just didn't excite me. The service was friendly and attentive and the space itself is quite roomy, so if you're like me and personal space is a must for you....you'll feel comfy here. You are beautiful Squamish. Thank you for hosting us and the great time.

Solid pub and brewery at the far end of downtown Squamish. Parking is available in front, as well as on the side streets. The place looks almost like a ski chalet. Lots of wood, and nice large windows where one can look at the mountains. There's an outdoor patio (closed for the winter), as well as an indoor stage for live music. Staff are friendly. No complaints. The menu here is solid. Burgers and pizzas. As of the time of writing, pizzas are only available after 1500. Something to keep in mind. The brisket burger I had was decent. Nice chunk of meat, and crispy fries. Hit the spot. One thing I must say is that their beers are very good. Other places may try to have their niches, but this place has a rather excellent standard selection (typical brown ales, lagers etc). They really do get it right. I'll be back to drink more of their beer and try a pizza. Recommended.

We stopped in for lunch on a rainy Tuesday. We grabbed a couple of seats at the bar. The bartender let us taste a few different beers because we weren't sure what we wanted. They had so many to choose from! We ordered the fried pickles (SO GOOD) and the Caesar- also tasty. We had a great experience. We loved being able to see the view of The Chief through the massive windows. Gorgeous view. They also have patio seating for when the weather is nicer.

I'm not too sure why the mixed reviews for this spot on yelp, other review sites have much higher ratings. We had a thoroughly enjoyable late lunch. The service was exemplary--they were prompt and our server was so friendly. The interior of the restaurant was wonderful as well. I loved the airy wood hewn interior and the windows looking out at Stawamus Chief. Our group enjoyed the chicken wings, onion rings, fried pickles, fish and chips, and howe salad and they all paired well with the beers on tap. We look forward to returning on our future visits to the area.

Always enjoy trying out breweries & local beer when I'm in a new area so decided to try out Howe Sound since I made the drive up to Squamish. I just went with their Hazy Daze N.E. IPA since the hazy style of beer is one that usually enjoy. Overall it was a solid beer, fresh crisp flavor and not too bitter. Give it a try if you ever come to this brewery. It's a sizeable place with a good amount of tables and it was very busy when I went, but luckily there were bar seats readily available. It's a very woody interior that looks like a ski/snow chalet. I saw that there was also an outside patio but the tables were not set up to be seated. You can also see the mountains. There are several parking spots right in front of the place. It looks like this place is connected to an Inn as well and when you enter the front entrance, the brewery is to your left, while what I believe is the inn check-in to your right. I'm only not giving a higher rating because I did not really get those good, welcoming local brewery vibes when I visited. The staff were not rude by any means, it's just that it left much to be desired. They offered no insight into the beer and options and were just not that friendly. If I was craving a fresh tap beer in Squamish I suppose I'd go back, but I'm not rushing to return. Cheers!

Loved the rooftop patio so we could bring our dogs. We tried the pizza since that was all they had available. Turned out so good and yummy! Waitress talked about coming to work on her roller blades and made us laugh. She also talked about how good the Liz/ was before we ordered and she was spot on!!! Once again it's always the employees that make it such a good experience and want you to come back again.

OK so we have 2 things going on here: Inn AND Brewing. Inn - We stayed here 3 nights and used it as our base to head to Whistler, go snowshoeing, exploring etc. It was a great location! Squamish is a great town and this Inn and the end of the road had great rooms. Nothing fancy but rustic type decor and a stellar view from the window seat/bed. Even though it's connected to the Pub, the rooms were very quiet. Staff was very friendly and helpful as we sorted out our accommodations. The Brewing / Pub part - Since we were staying here, sauntering down for Happy Hour was super easy and we found it to be a nice relaxed dining area. As a guest in hotel you get a discount on food and drinks which was nice. As expected they have a good variety of beers. We landed on the Dunkel and and the Rail Ale nut brown. Both were so good, we might have repeated this order several times!.... We also sampled the poutine which was fine, chips and queso, fish and chips, I tried a special corn chowder one night (it was fine but having been outside snowshoeing and exploring, I was pretty hungry and it sounded like the perfect comfort food!) All the food was solid and the service was good. We had several servers, all of them professional and efficient. We'll miss staying here!

Great beer selection and great service from the staff. Our issue was with the food. A "bowl" of French Onion soup was very tiny (more like the cup size at other restaurants) and it was $10 and unfortunately it came to the table cold. The pizza was okay but the crust was very dry. If you're going just for beer, this is a great place.

Quite confused on how this spot doesn't have FIVE STARS! We LOVED Howe sound brewing especially after hiking the Chief. Sadly we were so toast from our hike we didn't explore the beers but the food... brought us LIFE. We started with lemonades (I know... at a brewery?), which were perfect, not too sweet, and got nachos for the table. Nachos weren't anything special, I wish they had more to them besides cheese, olives and tomatoes but it did some with a nice hefty side of salsa and sour cream. For my meal I got the salmon burger which was literally a 5 oz. piece of grilled salmon placed on a bun, which was topped with a delicious lemon aioli and a fresh spring mix. As a side I got the yam fries which were some of the best I've ever had (perfectly cooked - not floppy) and they came with a curry aioli dip. The dip was quite unique but did manage to grow on me at the end. The brewery overall has an awesome snow town vibe with a lot of outdoorsy, hip-happening people. Would be lucky to get back here on my next trip to the PNW!

We stopped in at Howe Sound for a bite to eat to tide us over until dinner. The Howe Sound house Salad was absolutely delicious and the beer cheese soup, which is called Ale and Cheddar Soup, was also delicious and spicy. The service was fast and friendly, the decor fit in with their epic view of Squamous. Nice stop!

But don't sleep on Squamish's limited-but-delicious food scene. A solid place to start is Backcountry Brewing, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bar and restaurant on the back side of the towns main shopping plaza. Since debuting in 2017, Backcountry has been a British Columbia beer darling; now, Backcountry prides itself on an ambitious lineup of limited-release beers. From the outside, the converted warehouse blends in with the rest of the industrial block. But inside, Backcountry is lively and inviting. The accents sport a tan and teal color palette. The bar to the right is decked with retro bulbs and a letterboard menu. Sound-dampening panels and camo-shaded lamps hang down from the soaring exposed HVAC. Each table is decked with a laminated BC map and mid-century modern chairs. Eighties tunes echo around the halls. My partner and I visited Backcountry after a full day of hiking, ready to chow down; we ordered a sandwich, a pizza, and a few flights. The Soprano -- Italian Sando was piled high with capicola, mortadella, and prosciutto cotto on a fluffy, poppyseed-laden foccacia. Our side of Five Guys-style, wedge-cut fries was rich and salty, and we loved each one of Backcountry's house-made sauces more than the last. The Meat Your Maker pizza was a deliciously nostalgic riff on the classic meat-lovers pizza. The thin crust stood up against the hefty helping of toppings, and the poofy cornicione paired perfectly with the exciting sauces. On the brewery side, the flights proved to be a fun deal. Across the beers, I was most impressed by the sours. Our collective favorite was the "Plan B? We Need A Plan C, D, E, We Need More Alphabets" (a basil-forward pineapple sour), while the "I'll Take You To the Candy Shop" (a peach-centric sour) and the "Might As Well Go For A Soda" (a gummy cola-esque cherry sour) were strong competitors. Meanwhile, the non-sour beers I tried were relative duds, including the "Never Taken A Shortcut Before?" oatmeal stout and the Sneaky Peach Cider. The service was friendly but somewhat inattentive throughout the meal, and the bill came to about $60 (after tax and tip). More than anything else, Backcountry satisfied -- it achieved the ideal brewery balance of fun, elevated, and casual. After our stay in Whistler, I admittedly had low expectations for Squamish, but Backcountry Brewing was a beyond-pleasant surprise, and I surely would visit again.

The place is part of Mark James group (Yaletown Brewing etc.), so one can already know what to expect if one has been to the other locations. Staff are friendly. Most of them seem to be Australian. Only complaint was that my friends and I couldn't be seated outside on the patio for some reason, even though there were clearly tables available (I didn't see any reserved signs). Not sure why the waitress insisted we sit inside where the place was maybe 30% full, but oh well. The place feels like a giant chalet, with the timber trim everywhere. They have a pizza oven, and the beer production tanks are visible over the kitchen area. There's even a toy train that does a circuit throughout the dining area (look up). One thing worth mentioning is that the bathrooms are on the 2nd floor, which may be a problem for some. Food here is Whistler pricing, so be sure to have deep pockets. I was told to try the High Mountain beef ribs, so there is now 1 less cow out there. 3 bones drenched in BBQ sauce, served on top of a pile of coleslaw and next to a pile of mashed potatoes (there is a fries option). Ribs were cooked well but the sauce was definitely on the salty side. I tried a piece of my buddy's prime rib and it's pretty solid. The portion size was definitely enough. I was stuffed. I also had a flight of their craft beer (4 glasses). As of the time of writing, they only have 8 beers available, but it was more than enough. Overall the place is worth a visit if one wants pub style comfort food.

I thought it was a mirage at first, but I walked up and touched it so I knew it was real. And it was exactly what we needed after a not insignificant amount of walking around Vancouver (we were touristing) and it was lunch time. Stanley Park Brewing is larger inside than it appears outside. With its outdoor seating and multiple public and private dining rooms its footprint is roughly the size of Rhode Island. (ok, maybe not THAT big...but it is expansive). Stanley Park Brewing is located not far from the entrance to Stanley Park so the views and the surroundings were all very beautiful. A tall clump of trees over here, a some flowering bushes over there...just lush greenery in every direction...and tennis courts. The entire area was clean and well maintained. When we arrived we were told there would be about a 15 (US) minute wait, but that 15 (US) minutes turned into about 5, as we were seated almost immediately at a table adjacent to the bar. The weather was amazing that day (about 72° F) so all the doors and windows were open so there was plenty of fresh air and a nice breeze. Our server arrived with cold water (muchly needed!) and gave us the beer and food menus. Congo and I opted for a flight of beers and the Smokey Island pizza because the maple candied bacon bits, charred pineapple, and jalapeño caught my attention. (Relax, people, it was personal pan pizza size.) For my flight of four I chose: SunSetter Peach Wheat Ale, Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale, Parklandia Hazy IPA, and Noble Pilsner. Each was very good with its own unique tastes and flavour palettes. Our food orders took about 15 minutes to arrive and the food was hot and accurate. The Smokey Island pizza was *Chef's Kiss*, while the SunSetter Peach Wheat Ale from my flight was so good I had to get a pint as well. Our server (Jordan) who was also the bartender. Jordan was knowledgeable about the beers and was able to answer any questions about menu without having to consult someone else. He also suggested the Smokey Island pizza, and for that alone he and I can be good friends. The entire staff was constantly in motion, whether sitting new guests, handling drink refills, cleaning tables, or anything else. Great teamwork all around. What started as a chance visit turned into one of our favorite lunch stops in Vancouver. Congo and I thank you.
