Poutine was awesome! Brussel sprouts Walmer spot on with a little zing. Had a beer flight of their brews. Tasty! Service was good. Playlist was great and the weather was perfect. People watching on patio is a really good time!

Big brewpub in Whistler Village in its own building, close to the Olympic Plaza. Dark wooden interior. Has a second floor where the washrooms are. Also has a running model railway near the ceiling which was cool. Reasonably busy on a non-weekend night during ski season, but not the busiest restaurant we saw in the village. Has a good variety of food on the menu. We tried a bunch of different items. The pizza and ribs were decent. The ribs were tender. The pizza tasted more like fresh Pizza Hut than wood fired, but it's not bad. Also tried the fish tacos which were okay. The fried fish is nicely fried, although not that much of on each taco. Least favorite item was the pulled pork sliders which the meat were dry. Prices are what I expected from a ski resort village, ie higher than you would find in the city for this quality of food. Our server gave us a weird vibe and didn't seem like they wanted to be there.

Kids Mac and cheese - looked good, lacked flavor

For a huge restaurant, this place certainly does feel intimate. The seating is broken up in a way where it doesn't feel so large. The staff is among the friendliest we have encountered, and the food selection is huge. It's not typically a spot I'd go to, but the location is great at the end of the village and it has enough variety to please everyone in your group. The food is decent, I wasn't super crazy about the poutine (gravy was very thick and salty) and the kids Mac and cheese lacked flavor, but no one seemed to mind too much because our server was so fantastic and the vibe was very fun. This place isn't the top of my list for dining out while in Whistler, but if you're looking for a large variety at a family friendly spot, it's worth a shot. While we've never had an exceptionally grand experience here, it's never been bad either, and for that, it's worth a solid four stars in my book.

Our trip to Whistler included a late lunch at High Mountain. The place was not crowded as the ski season just opened. Our party of 4 was seated immediately by the fireplace. We ordered butter chicken, chicken sliders pizza and a salad. All were good, no complains. Service is also good. We probably waited a good 10 mins for our server to come which was not bad. Next time in Whistler, I will definitely try this place again.

"High Lonesome God don't ever let this mountain change I hope you will always stay the same" (Charlie Daniels) We had a very nice lunch visit to the High Mountain Brewing Company. We chose a table on their outdoor patio to take in all the scenic and people watching splendors of Whistler Village. We split two choices for lunch. The first was an order of 3 Baja Fish Tacos were delicious! They included ale battered local Pacific cod pieces served with coleslaw, avocado puree, and a cilantro sour cream on flour tortillas. You could ramp up the old zip factor with their cumin lime hot sauce. The tacos were $23 CAD. Our second dish was a Boston Bibb Salad with candied pecans, cherry tomatoes, red onions, sliced gala apples, grapes, butter lettuce, and Fraser Valley greens. It was a very good solid, with added crunch from the apples and pecans. The salad was $19 CAD. High Mountain Brewery is a gorgeous place, the patio was decorated with dozens of bright red umbrellas. Our server Charles was very good - friendly, informative and professional. Our two selections totalled $44.10 CAD after tax.

Service is weak and non attentive. Beer is not done very well. Nice patio and that's about it. Silly happy hour that is 2-4pm. Glad I didn't even bother for food.

We had a some time to spare and decided to come in to grab a quick snack before heading out on a 2 hour ATV ride. Service was pretty fast, as we were in and out within 40 min. It was happy hour, so we ordered a beer, fish tacos, and garlic fries. I wasn't really expecting anything much for a quick bite and of all things - fish tacos and fries. They were pretty decent. The fish tacos had a lot of cole slaw and took away from the actual fish, but it was refreshing. The garlic fries were crispy and garlicky. It was a great quick snack.

We randomly walked by and figured we would give it a try. The place felt like a rustic cabin that was decorated for the holidays. It even had a toy train driving around the restaurant. The food was ok but felt over prized for what it was.

But don't sleep on Squamish's limited-but-delicious food scene. A solid place to start is Backcountry Brewing, a blink-and-you'll-miss-it bar and restaurant on the back side of the towns main shopping plaza. Since debuting in 2017, Backcountry has been a British Columbia beer darling; now, Backcountry prides itself on an ambitious lineup of limited-release beers. From the outside, the converted warehouse blends in with the rest of the industrial block. But inside, Backcountry is lively and inviting. The accents sport a tan and teal color palette. The bar to the right is decked with retro bulbs and a letterboard menu. Sound-dampening panels and camo-shaded lamps hang down from the soaring exposed HVAC. Each table is decked with a laminated BC map and mid-century modern chairs. Eighties tunes echo around the halls. My partner and I visited Backcountry after a full day of hiking, ready to chow down; we ordered a sandwich, a pizza, and a few flights. The Soprano -- Italian Sando was piled high with capicola, mortadella, and prosciutto cotto on a fluffy, poppyseed-laden foccacia. Our side of Five Guys-style, wedge-cut fries was rich and salty, and we loved each one of Backcountry's house-made sauces more than the last. The Meat Your Maker pizza was a deliciously nostalgic riff on the classic meat-lovers pizza. The thin crust stood up against the hefty helping of toppings, and the poofy cornicione paired perfectly with the exciting sauces. On the brewery side, the flights proved to be a fun deal. Across the beers, I was most impressed by the sours. Our collective favorite was the "Plan B? We Need A Plan C, D, E, We Need More Alphabets" (a basil-forward pineapple sour), while the "I'll Take You To the Candy Shop" (a peach-centric sour) and the "Might As Well Go For A Soda" (a gummy cola-esque cherry sour) were strong competitors. Meanwhile, the non-sour beers I tried were relative duds, including the "Never Taken A Shortcut Before?" oatmeal stout and the Sneaky Peach Cider. The service was friendly but somewhat inattentive throughout the meal, and the bill came to about $60 (after tax and tip). More than anything else, Backcountry satisfied -- it achieved the ideal brewery balance of fun, elevated, and casual. After our stay in Whistler, I admittedly had low expectations for Squamish, but Backcountry Brewing was a beyond-pleasant surprise, and I surely would visit again.

The food was a mixed bag, some dishes great, some not so much. The general consensus was the beer wasn't great. But I did enjoy my cocktail! The DJ/emcee for music trivia bingo was a lot of fun. You got to choose your Bingo card. He played songs spanning the decades, but you're also allowed to Shazam. He also walked around, looked at our sheets, and pointed out any songs we may have forgotten to stamp. People from our table one 3 out of 5 prizes given that night! THE DRINKS * Passion fruit fizz - 4.5 stars Lovely thick layer of egg white that gave the drink texture, sharp citrus flavor. Also, props to the staff as my partner ordered the wrong drink for me at first - they let me swap out that wrong order for this drink! * Coast Sour - 3 stars This drink was not for me - too strong, flavors not subtle at all. The beers generally weren't great; a lot of them lacked body and complexity. The best one was the IPA, the worst was the cream ale. THE FOOD * Bayou Bite - 4.5 stars The bun & slaw were good, and we liked the bbq sauce. The breading had a great crunch but we had 2 thinner slices which leads to less juicy chicken and too much breading. * Beer Battered Cod Batch Soft Tacos - 4 stars The fish tasted very fresh, with a nice balanced thin layer of breading and lots of toppings that worked well. Don't let it sit too long or it could get pretty soggy. * Nachos - 1-2 stars I didn't try this or get a photo, but my friend said this was pretty bad.

Needn't have worried as there was exactly "one" person there. Not a really positive sign. While we were in there, about an hour, three guys came in and a delivery guy delivered, that's it. Our server seemed distracted and uninterested, which is tough to fault, given the lack of things to do when the place is empty. The service was pretty slow even though there was no one in the place. The lovely K ordered the Wing special and a Caesar salad. Our server came and said they only had enough to make a small Caesar so she changed the order to a Spinach salad. They also made a small Caesar, and brought it as well. How do you not have makings for one of the three salads you have on the menu at opening? Shook my head at that. The pizza was also below average, I don't think they even make their own dough given its taste. There is no ambience at all really as the accompanying photos show. Overall uninspired, poor service and below par food. Hardly a recipe for success. Sad really, there is a significant investment in the place completely going to waste. We will not return.
