During a recent visit to Stanley Park the last thing I expected to find was a brewery...but there it was! I thought it was a mirage at first, but I walked up and touched it so I knew it was real. And it was exactly what we needed after a not insignificant amount of walking around Vancouver (we were touristing) and it was lunch time. Stanley Park Brewing is larger inside than it appears outside. With its outdoor seating and multiple public and private dining rooms its footprint is roughly the size of Rhode Island. (ok, maybe not THAT big...but it is expansive). Stanley Park Brewing is located not far from the entrance to Stanley Park so the views and the surroundings were all very beautiful. A tall clump of trees over here, a some flowering bushes over there...just lush greenery in every direction...and tennis courts. The entire area was clean and well maintained. When we arrived we were told there would be about a 15 (US) minute wait, but that 15 (US) minutes turned into about 5, as we were seated almost immediately at a table adjacent to the bar. The weather was amazing that day (about 72° F) so all the doors and windows were open so there was plenty of fresh air and a nice breeze. Our server arrived with cold water (muchly needed!) and gave us the beer and food menus. Congo and I opted for a flight of beers and the Smokey Island pizza because the maple candied bacon bits, charred pineapple, and jalapeño caught my attention. (Relax, people, it was personal pan pizza size.) For my flight of four I chose: SunSetter Peach Wheat Ale, Waypoint Hazy Pale Ale, Parklandia Hazy IPA, and Noble Pilsner. Each was very good with its own unique tastes and flavour palettes. Our food orders took about 15 minutes to arrive and the food was hot and accurate. The Smokey Island pizza was *Chef's Kiss*, while the SunSetter Peach Wheat Ale from my flight was so good I had to get a pint as well. Our server (Jordan) who was also the bartender. Jordan was knowledgeable about the beers and was able to answer any questions about menu without having to consult someone else. He also suggested the Smokey Island pizza, and for that alone he and I can be good friends. The entire staff was constantly in motion, whether sitting new guests, handling drink refills, cleaning tables, or anything else. Great teamwork all around. After an exciting day exploring Stanley Park, we decided to have lunch at a spacious restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. We did have to wait a bit for a table, but once we were seated, we dove into the menu and ordered a few tasty items: - **Nachos with pulled pork**: These had great flavor! However, we found that there were a lot of chips compared to the toppings, leaving us with a few extra plain chips on our plate. - **Sweet potato waffle fries**: These were definitely the star of the meal! They were even better with the scrumptious chipotle aioli--what a fabulous combo! - **Beer**: We went for the Sun Setter, but ran into a little hiccup with the tap that resulted in quite a bit of foam. So, we switched to another beer to enjoy instead. Overall, the food really hit the spot, but the service could have been better. We had some trouble getting our server's attention during the meal, and there were delays in letting us know that our first beer choice was unavailable. Central location at the park if one wants to grab a casual bite as it is right off the tennis courts. There is a beer garden in the summer and the main restaurant opens year round. Consistently good burger and one must order the fried mushrooms. No AC unfortunately. read more

This brewery and pub is located at the edge of Stanley Park, overlooking English Bay. The menu offers pub favorites and their own line of beers. Most of their beers are not to my taste, but the coffee stout I had on a recent visit was very good. The highlight of the menu is the potstickers, which are consistently perfectly seared, and served in a delicious umami/vinegary sauce. Pretzel bites are less interesting, and need more of a crust and more salt. The pizza is also pretty good, with flavorful pepperoni, although I prefer it without the hot honey. Sitting at the bar in the room on the left affords a view of the park and English Bay, and it's a quieter room. Service by Michelle was super cheerful and attentive. read more

The beautiful old building is situated right in the middle of Stanley Park, with a fantastic view of the greenery and flowers. To our surprise, the food was pretty decent as well. Apparently they had won an award for their Royal Huntsman bison burger, so we had to try that, and we were glad we did! Stopped in on a rainy Monday afternoon. It was not crowded at all. Were sat right away and ordered beers. Nothing hits better than an ice cold crisp IPA. The Trail Hopper was very good. I ordered the fish n chips and my fiance ordered the Fish Po Boy with a side salad. The Cajun seasoning on the fish was nice. The fish n chips were good - came with tartar sauce and ketchup for the fries. Even though the place is on site at a touristy spot, it wasn't too expensive and it was pretty casual. This is a fun spot. We were able to get a table in a busy Saturday while enjoying Stanley Park. We tried some of the cocktail & beers available. It was Lunch time during our recent bike ride through Stanley Park. We did have some trouble finding this place as it was a short but hidden distance from the main bike path. As Erin and I are the main "travel agents" in our families, we eventually found it with Gayle and Jim following our lead. The first thing we wanted was shade and since the outer deck was mostly sunny (and hot), we were seated at a nice table inside, but close to deck entrance. It was now time to comfortably relax, starting with a wee pint (except for Gayle's sparking Rose). At the time we were here, we almost had one of the dining rooms to ourselves. Our Lunch choice were the Park House Sandwich (Erin), IPA Chowder Bowl with Garlic Bread (Jim), Ahi Poke Bowl (Gayle), and The Burger (Eric). Cons- -Service: was not tended to and did not check on us unless we flagged them down. -Parking: small parking lot up front but there are other lots available around the park where you can easily walk from and to. Came here after wandering around the park for a few hours. Great spot with a large patio and great views. The staff was friendly and was happy to accommodate us with our stroller. The beer menu is pretty good and given that it was a warm day I tried their peach beer. It was really smooth and refreshing especially because it was non alcoholic. My wife got a hazy pale and really enjoyed hers as well. The food here is great too. We got an order of the fish tacos and the parkhouse sandwich. Good size portions, especially the tacos. Nice and crispy batter that isn't over bearing or too greasy. The sandwich had a great flavor with the pickled onions really stepping it up and the ciabatta bread was great. Breweries are their own category of places to review. I don't mind a slight lack of attentive/friendly service at a brewery, and I do think the beer being good should outweigh some other factors. That being said, it's hard for me to give Stanley Park Brewing more than 3 stars. I'll start by saying that the location is excellent. It's a short walk from the seawall, so my friends and I were able to catch the most beautiful winter sunset and then hurry into the warmth in under 10 minutes. The service was alright; I didn't feel particularly welcomed, but like I said, I wouldn't go to a brewery expecting A+ service. The beer was very good! Great selection, served cold, standard and fairly consistent pours. Some of the appetizers were quite tasty as well, including the buffalo cauliflower and the vegan calamari. However, the pizza was awful. It was completely dry, overbaked, and the dough, sauce, and cheese were all melded into each other as if the pizza had been sitting ready-made for hours before going into the oven. I couldn't finish it. If I ever go back, I'll be sticking to the beer and fried foods, which hey--for a brewery, they're nailing their staples, and I can appreciate that a lot. read more

The food was delicious! They have great vegetarian options. I recommend getting a few snacks to share while enjoying your beers! I love the location and great access to walking and cycling pathways along the western side of Vancouver. You should plan on taking active transportation here since you will enjoy the beers and not want to drive. Stay safe and have fun! We joined this brewery for beers and snacks on Labour Day, so you can imagine a long wait. Thankfully, we could find a seat at the takeaway benches and tables, and we enjoyed a large beer before getting a proper patio table at the patio. The staff are welcoming and kind, and they will help get you situated with the menu. I chose a flight, and the servers were very helpful with beer selections. They are pretty IPA-focused, and I was glad to see one sour to enjoy. The food took quite a long time to prepare, and after 30 minutes, we were informed that the chef did not feel that our dishes were at a quality to serve. Though sad, we were glad that the staff quickly cooked up a few other options for us, and gave us a good discount to compensate for the delays and communication errors. Thanks for the fix and the support - you are great! After a few hours of relaxation, we returned to the bike corrals and cycled back to the city. read more

The setting can't get any better! Great casual cabin feel that's inviting! Great for small batch brewery fans who like to sit with the canisters in the room. Had brunch which was great I'd recommend the crab cake bennies on greens. It comes with kettle 'chips' and is filling! The greens were a little on the wilted side but otherwise the crab cakes were delicious. Hubby had the chicken waffles which was good but a little on the small side compared to other places. Depends how full you want to be! Lots of wrap around patio seating overlooking the grounds as well as an outdoor beer garden that faces the tennis courts. The person who assign tables should be either trained or relocated. He shouldn't be the hostess for the pub. He was rude and didn't care about the clients. It looks like he is there because that is the only job he could find. We went there Friday April 4th after 5pm Food is good, beer is good. We were planning on walking around Stanley Park, so we decided to stop by Stanley Park Brewing for some quick drinks and snacks prior. Our friend made a reservation since we had a large party of 15, but otherwise, they seem to have a lot of space. - PARKING - There's an immediate parking lot next to the brewery, but it's fairly small. We had to park in the lot across the road which wasn't too far. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Interesting layout with the bathrooms outside and near a basement-esque alleyway. The service was great in the beginning, but it definitely fell off shortly after. We had to ask for napkins and water multiple times. - FOOD/DRINK - Tangerine Sour - Nice bright and refreshing Sour. I personally love Sours the most out of all the beers so this was right up my alley. I didn't specify a size, so they gave me the 20oz. Soft Pretzel: This was COMPLETELY burnt on the bottom. The pretzel itself was extremely oily and since they didn't bring us napkins, we were left with dirty greasy hands until we called them over. Chicharrones: These were supposed to be Maple flavored but it just tasted like plain chicharrones with some "chili charcoal" on top. - OVERALL - Not very satisfied with the service or the food, and the drinks were just OK. read more

We had our wedding reception in the old "Fish House" so have sentimental attachment to this building. The reno worried me but they did a great job on an amazing space in an amazing stand-alone location. Any season and this place is a nice place to sit - but it sort of ends there. Unfortunately that is how bad the food is for me to give it a 2. Read the other reviews, they cover this - axe the menu and chef, regroup and address this issue and I'm probably a repeat customer instantly. A big problem for me is I'm not a big beer drinker either. If I was I'd just not order food and spend time nursing a drink. I love the space enough to just hang out. My belief is that SPB's beers are decent. A generous relative that enjoyed our wedding gave us a nice gift card for here not knowing the food was so bad. We've been muscling our way through it trying to find something we'd enjoy on each subsequent visit. The service is mediocre, that alone would not deter me to return. Friendly enough but that "too young for life experience" actor style pre-fab less than genuine 3 or 4 folks we had. It probably depends on who you get (several times we needed to remind them we were here, they seemed overwhelmed on all visits and inexperienced). read more

The brewery is a fun spot to watch people in the park, particularly on a nice day. The beer is consistently good. The food however, is not as great. I ordered eggs Benedict- it showed up with barely toasted English muffins and eggs differently poached - one medium as ordered and the other very runny with whites still uncooked. I received a replacement that was also not quite medium on a completely untoasted muffin. This is simply inexcusable. My partner's chicken sandwich was very good at least. read more

I don't normally write negative reviews but I was really disappointed in the food and service. Me and my friends were here for dinner on August 21st. The drinks were so AMAZING! All of the beer and ales on tap are so great. Our server was great too but it was soo busy and not enough staff at all. Everyone was in a panic. None of our appetizer dishes or old drink glasses were taken away and it just piled up. I ordered the gnocchi and it tasted okay but when I got home an hour later I was so nauseous and threw up my whole dinner. A mouse also crawled up by my friend's shoulder while she was eating. I was hesitant about visiting since all of the recent reviews are negative, but my longtime desire to eat in the park won out and I decided to give them a go, and thankfully it seems like they probably got through whatever rough patch they were going through a few months ago. The environment was nice, our server was very friendly, the food was good, and the beer was fantastic. We showed up at about 1:30 and they warned us that they were closing at 4 for an event, so that we could be prepared to leave if we did end up staying that long, and they didn't rush us out at all (we probably stayed about 2 hours) - they were just making us aware up front. We were able to be seated right away on the patio. Their patio is heated: the heater was on when we showed up, they turned it off after a while, but when I overheard another group ask them to turn it back on they obliged. I had the 1897 Amber Ale to drink, and besides being a simple but good amber ale, I was struck by how fresh it tasted. Something about the flavour and carbonation was just so vibrant. The other two people I ate with also spoke very highly of their beers. To eat, I had the Spent Grain Bowl. This was fresh and delicious and the plating was very nice. The falafels were actually proper falafels (as in they were actually green from herbs and spices that you could taste, and with a coarse crumb-like texture), which I was pleasantly surprised by since it can be hard to come by falafels this good even at Middle Eastern restaurants. I liked that nothing about the dish was crazy enough to be alienating, but it was unique enough with the green chickpea hummus and sprouted rice/greens combo to be interesting. However, it was way overpriced ($21!!) for the modest portion size, and also missing the 8-minute egg that the menu said it would have. Debated taking off an extra star for the missing major component of the dish, but I honestly liked it just fine if not better without the egg - there was enough protein already. I just wonder if the egg would've brought it a little closer to $21 worth of food. Finished off with the Warm Dark Chocolate Brownie, which I shared with the others. My impression of this was that it was a really good and fudgy brownie that had been a little cheapened by heating it up in the microwave. I don't know this for sure, but the texture made us suspect microwave. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it a lot. The sauce was good! $12 for a brownie and ice cream that was enough to comfortably serve three isn't bad. read more
