Several years ago I had Pergo hardwood floors installed in the hallway, living room and dining room. Now that I had new kitchen cabinets installed I needed to have the same flooring throughout. Home Depot measuring/installer came out and gave us a bid but I wasn't real confident with him. The wife and hammer were on time, professional and easy to talk with. I felt comfortable having them in my home and was not concerned that they were going to steal something or take advantage of me. Since their bid was comparable to Home Depot I figured I would give them a shot. They did a great job. They were professional and got the job done quickly. I was very pleased. I have some tiling to do and will give them a call to do the install soon. Just so you know they are also on the Home Depot handyman list.

That's not why you should hire Mike & Mike...well not the only reason, because their work is top notch. The biggest reason you should hire them (and I absolutely acknowledge I'm an old man yelling "get off my lawn!" here) is "honesty and integrity." These guys come from the old school of standing by your work and letting it speak for itself. My wife really wanted a fridge with an ice maker but the house we moved into didn't have a water line for that. I was trying to get an idea of what it would cost to have one installed so we could decide whether it was within our budget so we could pick a fridge and move forward with our lives. You would seriously not believe how hard that was. I made it abundantly clear to everyone I talked to that I knew they couldn't give me a binding estimate without actually seeing the project, and I begged for just a guess at a range...would this be somewhere between $200 - $2,000, am I looking at more like $10,000? Am I going to need another mortgage for this? I talked to probably 20 different handymen. 19 of them pretended they had no idea what it might cost and wouldn't even give a ballpark or a range without sending someone into my home so they could use their high-pressure sales tactics to make sure they got my business. They had either never done a job like this before, in which case I didn't want them, or they were lying to me, in which case I also didn't want them. Mike and Mike were the exact opposite. I asked what they expected it would cost, and they made their best guess and gave me a range of the top and bottom end based on really hard or really easy jobs. They were super flexible and easy to work with, and when the job was done they came in at the very bottom end of what they had estimated. They were on time, quick, super respectful, and my wife is smiling ear-to-ear. So yeah, there's plenty of handymen you could hire who will probably do a great job. Super efficient and no-nonsense in their approach, extremely capable at a wide range of repair and remodel tasks, and focused on quality of the finished product. He quoted a price to paint a bedroom and bathroom. He dropped a light fixture and glued it back…read moretogether, left glass everywhere and broken items on my vanity. You can still tell that it is broken and I am sure it will have to be replaced. He stuffed toilet tissue covered in blue paint down my toilet, it overflowed at 3:30 am. My electrical in the bathroom was working properly when he arrived after he removed the light fixtures above the mirror to paint and he couldn't figure out how to re-install them. He tripped all the breakers at my house. He told me that everything was fixed before he left besides the lighting in the bathroom because he had no clue how to repair it. It was all a lie, when I walked outside in my garage I noticed the freezer was off and I had specifically asked him if everything else was working and he said yes. We had to pay an electrician $125 to come fix the wire he pinched that caused the issue. He refused to come back and complete the paint job that he had already been paid in full for. He took the paint brushes from my house that we purchased. He laughs about watching You Tube videos to do jobs that he has no experience with. He even installed Solar panels in the roof of someone's home by watching You Tube videos. BEWARE!!! Sometimes you pay for what you get and this job ending up costing me in the long run. I would NOT recommend him to anyone. He is VERY slow and talks the whole time. I work from home and could not wait for him to be out of my house!!! Not professional at all, talks on his cell phone while working and leaves your job to go quote others. Do yourself a favor and pay someone else more to get your job done correctly and it in a decent amount of time. It is a SHAME that companies like Home Depot are recommending him to home owners. I will be filing a complaint with them next.
