I am so pleased and highly recommend Howie's heating and air conditioning. Howard has made repairs to my AC unit in the past and today my heater went out. I called about 9am by noon he sent out one of his guys Ken to repair my furnace. They are very professional reliable and I trust what they recommend and they do not overcharge. Customers beware. I called Howie's to come out and do a repair a week ago. It's the summer, over 100 degrees fahrenheit outside and my AC wasn't working. After checking my filter and the basic things you see in do-it-yourself videos, I decided i needed professional help and called Howie's. I've used them before (a couple years ago) and I remember Howard being a good guy. He sent one of his workers later the same day to my home (instead of coming himself). The worker was there 5 minutes and changed a capacitor piece in my fan closet. The lines at the compressor and coils in the fan closet were frozen up (which I already knew)... he told me turn the fan on with no AC to let it blow air and melt the ice then turn the AC back on, and issue fixed. I told him he didn't check the frion levels or pressure... ?? He said he can't because the ice. The capacitor piece fixed the issue, he insisted. I suggested we melt the ice to do a full analysis.... he said its late he lives in Clovis (i live in NW Fresno) and has to go, that he is sure the issue is fixed. He gave me a bill for $170. $49 for part and $120 for 5 mins of labor. I got on the phone with Howard himself, who 2 years earlier fixed my AC, filled up my frion levels (2lbs), changed a capacitor at the compressor outside, and charged me $120 for all that (again 2 yrs earlier). I am not the kind of guy to put down another person's hard work. But he was there 5 minutes. And idk that anything is actually fixed as he gives me this bill. Howard asked on the phone "what do you think you should pay?" I said "two years ago you did this, and this, and this and it was $120. Should not be more that $120?" He said fine, reluctantly. I expressed concern that the guy didn't check everything, that idk that the ac is fixed and he was in a hurry to leave because he had things to do. They said if its not fixed, call them and they'll come back out. Well later that night and then the next morning, and the AC was still not working. I did what Howie's AC worker said/instructed, and it was still not fixed. I called Howard.... voicemail. Texted him (which he communicated via text the day before)... no reply. I gave him the benefit of the doubt... its summer and their company might be busy. Called and texted the next day... nothing. The day after... nothing. 4 days I did not hear back and finally realized I won't. Because i payed them already. Howie's AC ignored my calls after I payed them (and my AC was not fixed), and it's been so hot i couldnt sleep at night without AC at home, so i called someone else out to fix my AC. Within minutes, they found a leak in my system that was leaking frion. The line and couls were frozen (just like when Howie's came out)... this new company melted the ice to do their inspection. They repaired the leak and added 7lbs of frion to fix my AC. Cool air was finally blowing into my home again. The part that Howie's quoted me $49... the capacitor in the fan closet... the guy told me his cost for same part was $2.50. And he said it's obvious to any professional it had nothing to do with why the AC was not working. Howie's was out there 5 mins and wanted $169. The second company was out at my house over 3 hours and charged $280 including 7lbs of frion (valued at about $20/lb). I tried calling Howie's back out to fix my AC after i payed them (before calling the 2nd company) and instead of doing the right thing Howard ignored me. Waiting for a call back from them, when i was giving them the benefit of the doubt as mentioned earlier, resulted in days of no AC at home. They did not return my calls or texts that were directly related to a repair they never completed. And honestly I'm a very polite, good mannered guy I never even gave them reason to ignore me other than i already payed them, so they disappeared. I'll be filing a complaint with the BBB and seek a refund through the legal avenues. Honesty goes a long way with me, be aware this is not an honest company. You won't find a better or more honest crew than Howie and his team. He was recommended to me by local business owners. Doing A/C in Fresno is physically brutal. But they are more concerned about getting you cooled than themselves. Personable, knowledgeable, reliable, and did I say honest? His prices are more than reasonable. This is one of those tradesman you want on your list of, "who to call when something breaks." Very professional, honest, and reliable. I had an old a/c system break down and was given an outrageous replacement cost by another company. Howie came out and we discussed a repair versus a new unit. No sales pressure. It was obvious that a new A/C and heating system was the best solution. Howie gave me a price well below the cost that the large company had given me. No "up sell" pressure and we explored the various options. Total installation time was a matter of hours. He is always available for support issues and when the unit needed a replacement compressor a few years later, he was prompt at getting the warranty part installed. Howie's technicians are skilled and courteous--just good people that care about customers. The nice thing is that we have saved a lot of utility costs, as Howie told us we would with the new unit. read more

Very nice and fast. I needed somebody to check my heater after horrible service from Central Heating And cooling. Howard showed up the day I called which I was not expecting. They didn't try and charge me for everything like a lot of places. They are a small business so they don't charge what these big companies do. They do residential and commercial work. I will be using them again when I need a check up on my air conditioner in the summer. read more
