I lived not so far from her shores for a number of years so I've experienced her in all seasons and I say with certainty no particular one is my favorite since each are unique and all are special in some sense. My most recent visit from the shores of Buffalo in February is one of frozen sheets of ice jammed against the shore appearing lifeless and stranded, barren and eerie waiting in utter silence for the warmth of spring to thaw her surface and return the beauty she exhibits so beautifully. I've eaten a Tony Packo Dog on her shores in Toledo and skipped stones across the breaking waves near Edgewater Park outside Cleveland. This lake has provided so much to so many. I've drank wine and eaten hors d'oeuvre on a catamaran at sunset a mile or two from downtown Cleveland and ventured out before daylight from Geneva-on-the-Lake twenty five miles from Canada to catch a limit of walleye from a fishing charter. I've walked her frozen shores in Mentor as the ice shelves heaved onto the shore etching the sand while reshaping the shoreline and experienced the endless lake effect snows that buries the town of Chardon in late November, then camped on the shores at Presque Isle in the spring where you could see a lake perch grab your bait nearly thirty feet below the surface. The water that provides all the joy to so many while traveling over Niagara Falls into Lake Ontario never grows old, it's a very tranquil view no matter which shore you look over her...

I ma a huge rock hound, crystal nut- not just because my name is Crystal, I've loved picking up shiny rocks since I was a small child. Quartz and mica are two I remember finding often as a child. Here- they had a huge inventory of various raw and polished stones, fossils, animal bones and such. And that was just in the Nature Exchange! The park is wonderful too, plenty of trails to lead you down by the river, wonderful trees, great overlook viewpoints throughout. As part of the Niagra Parks system, they have bike trails too. We stopped here twice, once to explore and once for me to pop back in with my photos and pick out a raw piece of turquoise! A birthday win for me! Shout out to the young lady who talked to me in the morning, she wasn't there when I returned- and I am pretty sure the 2 young men thought I was crazy (I am), but they were all very helpful for this big kid out playing in nature!

Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. This is such a beautiful park to enjoy a nice walk, jog, a bike ride or to go fishing (no spots to play sports of any kind here). There are a couple small grassy areas you can sit with a blanket and have a small picnic, eat lunch or bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a book. Plenty of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the water. In addition, the trees provide lots of shaded areas to appreciate as you walk through the paved trail on a hot summer day. Lastly, there are a lot of droppings from the geese (the children were stressing about avoiding it). I didn't see a playground during my walk but there is a very nice playground available for the children in front of the library that is located adjacent to the park entrance - you'll see it. I used my GPS to get here and parked at the courthouse parking lot, there was a path to where the trail starts - in my photos. Bring bug spray and sunblock in the summer and enjoy a stroll after a good meal. Rated this park four stars because I would probably only come back to take a walk if I'm already in the area but there's nothing here you absolutely have to see if you were visiting Buffalo. However, the park is beautiful and serene. If there was more to do or picnic tables for families to sit and eat, I would give it five stars.

STAY AWAY!!! After…read morereading the other 1-star reviews, I can confidently say our experience was very similar. The behavior we encountered was confrontational, combative, and completely irrational. Without question, this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Staff was incapable of having a professional conversation and handled the situation in an extremely unprofessional manner. We were denied use of the pontoon boat for the day we had reserved. Rather than simply refunding that day, he abruptly canceled and refunded the remaining three days of our rental as well, then told us to leave. The entire interaction was completely unprovoked. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to work under those conditions. The woman who initially helped us at the counter was kind and professional, and she appeared visibly shocked and uncomfortable with the way the staff was conducting himself and representing the business. If I were the owner, I would be deeply concerned about the quality of management and customer interactions taking place. Then again, business must be doing well if they can casually refund $1,600 and turn away paying customers without a second thought. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

It's okay though, because he's famous. I love this place, as I love the adjacent Squaw Island Park and Bird Island Pier. A lot of people underrate this place but they shouldn't. It's a lovely spot in Buffalo and unlike any other, especially because the Pier that extends out from here, goes all the way under the PB. I was last here not too long ago, a few months maybe. I always bring out of town tourists here (if they like walking), we wander around Squaw Island, the park, this part of it, and then along the Pier. It's beautiful, the views are spectacular, I recommend it to anyone. It's pretty harrowing in winter, though. In fact, Broderick Park is that amazing park just north of the Peace Bridge. To get to it, you drive all the way to the end of Ferry, across the rusted metal drawbridge, and you're on a little green island, which is also known as Broderick Park. It's a wonderful park with spectacular views of the Peace Bridge (known as the Pizza Bridge to Canadians because it's their most direct link to amazing Pizza... i.e. Buffalo Pizza), and it gives way to Bird Island Pier, where you can flip the bird to Canada-bound trucks and passenger cars and buses, and there's really nothing they can do about it except vow to exact revenge upon their return to the country, which may not even happen given the climate of border crossings into the USA at the moment.
