There are not that many Japanese maple trees or maybe we were just too late in May. We went May 16 to see the full bloom, however, there were still some trees in bloom and it was very pretty and it smelled good. The area is well kept where the garden is but when you venture off into one side, it's a dark tunnel with spray paint all over. People were still running through it so I'm assuming it's a safe area. it's across the street from an art museum and the Japanese garden is a part of another history museum. Overall, I would say go because it is a pretty area with free parking, just missing a star because I thought it was going to be much larger with more history.

I ma a huge rock hound, crystal nut- not just because my name is Crystal, I've loved picking up shiny rocks since I was a small child. Quartz and mica are two I remember finding often as a child. Here- they had a huge inventory of various raw and polished stones, fossils, animal bones and such. And that was just in the Nature Exchange! The park is wonderful too, plenty of trails to lead you down by the river, wonderful trees, great overlook viewpoints throughout. As part of the Niagra Parks system, they have bike trails too. We stopped here twice, once to explore and once for me to pop back in with my photos and pick out a raw piece of turquoise! A birthday win for me! Shout out to the young lady who talked to me in the morning, she wasn't there when I returned- and I am pretty sure the 2 young men thought I was crazy (I am), but they were all very helpful for this big kid out playing in nature!

Interesting facts learned on fireflies: they like leafy dark areas, eat slugs, and snails and really lite up the park. This is such a beautiful park to enjoy a nice walk, jog, a bike ride or to go fishing (no spots to play sports of any kind here). There are a couple small grassy areas you can sit with a blanket and have a small picnic, eat lunch or bring your own lawn chair and enjoy a book. Plenty of benches to sit down, relax and enjoy the view of the water. In addition, the trees provide lots of shaded areas to appreciate as you walk through the paved trail on a hot summer day. Lastly, there are a lot of droppings from the geese (the children were stressing about avoiding it). I didn't see a playground during my walk but there is a very nice playground available for the children in front of the library that is located adjacent to the park entrance - you'll see it. I used my GPS to get here and parked at the courthouse parking lot, there was a path to where the trail starts - in my photos. Bring bug spray and sunblock in the summer and enjoy a stroll after a good meal. Rated this park four stars because I would probably only come back to take a walk if I'm already in the area but there's nothing here you absolutely have to see if you were visiting Buffalo. However, the park is beautiful and serene. If there was more to do or picnic tables for families to sit and eat, I would give it five stars.

The AKG is right across the street with the Buffalo History Museum being on the other end. You can enjoy the Delaware Park Rose Garden or a night in the summer at Shakespeare in the Park. Or just the rest of the park. There's a bit of something for everyone. The only issue might be parking, which could be difficult at times since it's just like any city park area. STAY AWAY!!! After…read morereading the other 1-star reviews, I can confidently say our experience was very similar. The behavior we encountered was confrontational, combative, and completely irrational. Without question, this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Staff was incapable of having a professional conversation and handled the situation in an extremely unprofessional manner. We were denied use of the pontoon boat for the day we had reserved. Rather than simply refunding that day, he abruptly canceled and refunded the remaining three days of our rental as well, then told us to leave. The entire interaction was completely unprovoked. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to work under those conditions. The woman who initially helped us at the counter was kind and professional, and she appeared visibly shocked and uncomfortable with the way the staff was conducting himself and representing the business. If I were the owner, I would be deeply concerned about the quality of management and customer interactions taking place. Then again, business must be doing well if they can casually refund $1,600 and turn away paying customers without a second thought. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
