Dan Moncayo -- Just want you to know I received a text from MPower Energy asking if I received a settlement bill from CA Edison of over $500. It took me by surprise. I just received a $185 check from the power conservation group under Edison. A settlement bill?!? Yo No! I get money back!!! :). When I figure the amount I have paid extra monthly that includes the access fee, I have never paid more than the access fee or nothing. I'd say your estimate of utilization was right on--- including the sporadic use of power by my grandkids when the are here---- and the fact that I am selling the power back to the grid at wholesale prices. We contracted with HPM Solar to install solar on our roof. We are completely satisfied. The installation took 2 days, and they left the yard and house as better than before. The new conduits etc look very professional. I am happy with the micro inverters and panels selected and our ability to see the systems performance anytime. What is really notable though, is that they were very transparent and honest in their pricing. I had some other quotes where lease deals were presented with lots of fluff and salesmanship that would cost 50% more than what HPM offered. One even had a 25 year lease. Anyway, pay cash if you can or get a low interest loan and keep the tax credit. read more

We have been wanting to install solar panels for a long time. Unfortunately, all companies that approached us were simply interested in one thing: closing out the sale. They did not care about what our needs were nor did they take the time to explain what we would be signing up for and committing to. One particular company even went to the extent of false advertising, quoting incorrect figures, and requesting us to sign for a credit check and a pre-approved loan that we never requested or applied for. Needless to say, we walked away quickly. All these bad experiences made us appreciate how HPM conducted business. They were upfront and forthcoming from the start. For us, transparency with no loose strings attached or hidden contingencies is a big factor. If I am spending the money and letting you touch my house, you better know what you are doing and be transparent about the entire process. Dan and his team delivered that. They were on top of things with communication and paperwork. I did not have to deal with the city and the red tape that came with the permit process. They took care of all that, including all ends that had to do with Edison. Isaac has been incredibly patient and thorough with communication and the workmanship. We received solar panel installation proposal from two firms. Since the proposals were very similar, we decided to go with HPM because they came highly recommended by friends. The physical installation of the solar panels could not have gone more smoothly. It was a lot easier than some renovations we were doing at the same time inside the house. I found HPM solar on a Neighborhood app looking for recommendations and followed my gut feeling regarding who I want to contact. I didn't regret this process at all. After reaching out to HPM and providing some information regarding our current electricity usage, Dan, came over to our house with understandable documentation of basics and details of how his company does solar installation, what to expect regarding performance of the system (HPM guarantees the sold kwh for the first year - or will adjust the system if not met) , saving potential and the expected return of the investment. HPM does not lease solar systems but only sell them which to us, is the preferred way anyways. Dan and HPM solar can help to get financing of the system set up through a solar loan with a credit union, which we ended up using. This loan has a fair and market appropriate APR. HPM was available for us the entire time also for those tasks as financing that are not there core business but they take ownership of it to provide the full service they promise. Regarding to the actual system, there is not much to say at this point (4 month after installation) which is meant absolutely positive. Dan gave a couple of options regarding the panels which vary between the price, performance and guaranteed lifetime, to choose from. There was no sales pushing in any direction but straight listening to what our preferences were and giving suggestions and recommendations. The install was clean, safe, professional and got done within the time calculated. Since installed the system is producing electricity and it very transparent to see what your results are by using the enlighten app that shows productions results broken down to 15 min intervals and more. There is an optional addition to get consumption numbers in the app as well (which I purchased afterwards and personally recommend if you have fun looking at those numbers to compare and analyze). We had no system failures so far and are absolutely satisfied with the result at this point which match the predicted, calculated and guaranteed performance. HPM solar was always available for us, answered questions quick until we were satisfied and never pushed to get the contract signed but listened to what we want. There was a kind of tricky situation after we decided what we want to purchase, caused through delayed permitting procedures and shortage of panel equipment (install in 2020, Covid19) that HPM handled very customer oriented, fair and satisfying to us at the end. How to handle a project when it's not going all the way perfect separates in my eyes a good from an excellent company. HPM handled this task excellent. I can absolutely recommend using HPM solar and it's team if you plan to go solar. They are 100% professional, experts in their field and put you, the customer and your wants, in the focus. Their pricing is reasonable and appropriate for the package you get from them. They are not pushing for the quick or the highest sell but make sure that you get what you need and what makes sense for your individual situation. HPM Solar lives up to their word. One year after our solar installation, we checked our output against our initial contract with HPM solar. Our output fell short of what we were estimated to receive. Dan reviewed everything with us by video due to Covid-19. He promised 2 new panels to make up for the shortfall. He said they would even change out the inverter if our original would not handle the increased production. After checking with the manufacturer, he found that our inverter was fine with the extra panels and could even support 3 more. After a couple of weeks, Isaac contacted us, the new panels were installed, and we are happy customers. We cannot recommend HPM Solar enough. They are friendly, professional, and the solar company to call when you are ready to go solar. read more

I picked HPM solar because I wanted to go with a local company. They are located in Claremont and I am in Chino Hills. They gave me a competitive bid. I received another bid from a contractor I found on the Southern California Edison website, and HPM Solar's bid was more competitive. They understood what was important to me. I wanted to maximize the Return on Investment, and they gave me a bid that did so. I also wanted to replace my roof, which was 30 years old, and they suggested a roofing contractor they have worked with in the past. I get two other bids from roofers my neighbors used, and HPM Solar's recommended roofer gave the most competitive bid. They had the roofer install the correct roof vents that needed to be installed underneath the panels. Their electrician made the modifications to my electrical panel, and installed the additional box needed for the install. Everything went flawless. They did have to jump through a few hoops relative to extra inspections required by Chino Hills (fire department sign-off on the permit), which took a few extra days. I would recommend them to anyone in the area who is looking to install solar panels. read more

The crew was professional, easy to communicate with, and very detailed oriented. They included me in every step of the process, which I especially appreciated. They worked with me to hide the inverter box and electrical piping so that we had a clean looking roofline and back yard. They also did a panel upgrade to our house. HPM did all of the work, from permitting, to filing for our solar loan, and install. I did a lot of research prior to going with HPM. We have worked with HPM twice now, and were very happy both times. First time was about 5 years ago, our first foray into solar panels. HPM was much more thorough than other solar companies we contacted. They immediately checked how much sunlight we got on our roof averaged over the year to work around the tall trees that shade it and place the panels for best effect. They proposed far fewer panels at roughly half the cost of another bid, and we have been producing more electricity than we use for the last several months (this is summertime, lots of sun but electric loads are high in summer due to AC). The system has been in place a bit over two months and we have been very happy with it. They did not try to oversell us, the information they provided was accurate and honest, and their installation team was top notch. They recommended re-roofing the area under the panels prior to install, avoiding having to remove the panels to do this later. This was a very cost-effective measure. Integrity and a fair price. I contacted four solar companies, each with a five star Yelp rating. I received four proposals and interviewed each of them. I was blown away by Dan's (the owner) simple and straight forward way of doing business. I was sold by Dan's presentation alone. After I gave the go-ahead I got a chance to meet the rest of the team, Isaac and William. Isaac is the project manager and I was very happy with his response and attention to detail. I felt like I was the only customer he had though I realized that he was very busy juggling multiple projects in the area. This is a local business so it was a bonus to have one of my neighbors working on my home. William is the electrician on the job who also happens to be a licensed electrical engineer. That just made my confidence level go through the roof, knowing that it was going to be engineered and installed the "right way." The building inspector did not find a single issue first go-around. I started generating power right-away. I also want to mention Danny Wilson of Cornerstone Construction. I also needed a roof and both Dan and Danny worked seamlessly together for not only getting solar panels but a new roof too. Danny is also a local company doing business for years in our community. I encourage Yelp readers, it they're thinking of going solar, to contact a least three solar companies with 5 start Yelp ratings, including HPM Solar, and do the same review process.
