Teacher actually has good reputation because my daughter said she has some classmates come from Stockton! She got a 2380 in the real test (her diagnostic test was only 1940, after the test, her general counselor analyzed what were her weaknesses so she could really work on those parts). Class management was satisfying, teacher assistant reported to us how well she was doing, so we could keep tracking her progress. Later, we had a counseling meeting with their counselor and agreed that extracurricular was important but also her weakness since we didn't know much about how and what to do was good for her. Then we joined IvyMax's counseling program. I have to say, this one year so far, overall is good, even though not all the time being extremely satisfying, they have been adjusting and coordinating, willing to listen and communicate. My daughter now enjoys participating in their students actives. They have provided many volunteering opportunities and encouraged my daughter to try and challenge. I have seen how my daughter have changed!

I solicited few learning centers from Alamo to Dublin and landed with Brightfox for few reasons: 1. The approach is very strategic. Upon assessment of your child ability, they will come up with a REALISTIC plan without pushy 'marketing' tone that forces you to buy blocks of hours. They would ask your child to take the assessment twice to ensure consistency of results and serve as your child's ability/knowledge baseline. Then, they will set up a time with you and your child to review about timeline, targeted score and hours needed to review those areas that need improvement, inclusive lots of practice tests that I found extremely important to build the child confidence and comfort in taking the test. 2. Low ratio: 2:1 and sometimes even 1:1. One hour per Subject. 3. The hourly rate (in block discount) is far more reasonable than others that I inquired. 4. Brightfox Education user portal is very intuitive, easy to use/track and modern. 5. Administrative plus! There's always someone to respond ASAP (most of the time) or reasonable time, especially Ms. Heather, their office manager is SUPERB in providing response, flexibility, etc. Genuine interest in your child's success. 6. My journey with Elite started in the early part of my freshman year at high school. Like most Asian families, my parents and I went to meet Jesse for the first time with ideas that only included lofty college brands, perfect GPAs and the most impacted majors. It took Jesse only one meeting to make me understand that I can do myself the best service by focusing on my studies with right time management, practice, doing due diligence to all my work, and asking for help whenever needed. During every college counseling meeting, Jesse always encouraged me, and even during times when my grades had dropped, he kept my spirits high. These four years, Jesse worked with our family like a team, providing valuable information, setting up course plans, summer programs, extra-curriculars, and helping me to maintain my school track records in spreadsheets. His dedication to help his students is exemplary. He is so invested in helping his students that he always loses track of time unless reminded by the front desk. I am also pleasantly surprised by the amount of patience he has as he will answer all questions (and sometimes my parents had a lot) without being dismissive. When it came time for college applications, I don't think I could have done so well without the help from Elite. Jesse took all the time to review and shortlist my Activities list, Awards and Honors, and of course my essays. I worked with Jesse through multiple rounds of reviewing before he gave me the greenlight. He also reviewed my entire application to make sure there were no errors. I cannot express the amount of work that I got to put with the Elite team to make my college application really strong. Even with a few blemishes in my grades, I still got admitted to 16 excellent universities, of which 6 were UCs. I got into both computer science and data science. Jesse was my math tutor in 10th and 11th grade. My school, Irvington High School, has a reputation of being intense at math. Chelsea was so much on top of everything giving me reminders if I am falling behind on any for-credit course. She is so well organized and really helped me to stay on track on a number of occasions. I had explicitly asked that the tutor help my high schooler with study skills that would help her with all classes, biology in particular. During the first session the tutor just asked my daughter what she wanted to work on. Not having worked with a tutor, she wasn't sure what to ask for, especially as it was the beginning of the semester so she had no homework for biology. They chatted for about 20 minutes, but not about study skills. Then the session was ended early since my daughter didn't have anything else to ask for, even though I had been required to pay for a full session beforehand. Study skills were never discussed. Also the tutor told my daughter that she (the tutor) didn't have much background in biology and was more of a physics tutor. All around disappointing. The owner did follow up with me directly after I complained and asked for a refund. He listened patiently, acknowledged that the requested focus on study skills had been a miss and apologized for the poor experience. His handling of the situation is why I gave a 2 star instead of 1 star.

Mamie is like a math whisperer if that were a thing. She turned my grades around so quick and I was actually able to comprehend the material.
