I took a bridesmaid dress here that I bought online to be loosened. He priced it at $48. I came back and asked him if he could shorten it a bit more. My fault for not asking how much it was gonna cost. When I came back to pick up the dress, he charged me $65 to shorten it - for a whopping total price of $113!!! It was more than what I paid for the dress. Another shop's quote was $25 but I went with Hasaad because he already had my dress. I won't be coming back. What a rip-off. read more

Last time I brought my bridesmaids dress here it was in March, under different management and my dress fit me perfectly after he was done altering it. They now have new management and the attention to detail is no longer there. I brought in another bridesmaids dress and they completely messed up the back of it which made my heart drop the moment I had seen it because I now have to wear it since the wedding is this weekend. What was the most frustrating part is that the apology he gave me was very ingenue and he then proceeded to tell me that they tried calling me about the issue but since I didn't answer that he did what he could. I needed to get my Afghan dress altered because it did not fit around my back at all! It needed to basically be resized. I was nervous however because I wasn't sure how it would look considering I brought such a big job only 2 weeks before a wedding that I was attending. They did a fantastic job in not only altering the back of the dress so that it fit, but also making sure that it was ready by the promise date so I did not have to worry. I came to this location hoping to receive measurements. I told him I was an insurance professional and needed my measurements done. He refused to look me in my eyes staring at the wall while talking to me and made excuses on why he could not give me measurements because I did not have material. As I stated to him that I did not need materials just needed to note my basic measurements. he reluctantly started. When other customers came he neglected serving me and service other customers that came in. Leaving me to wait for a very long time. In so much that I decided to leave based upon him ignoring me and not servicing me anymore. If I was to get my measurements I would've came back with custom suits that would needed trimming and to be hemmed but that will never happen. I was treated like a second class customer/consumer because I wasn't spending any money right then and there. read more

Found this place when I was in desperate need of getting a dress altered for New Year's Eve. This little old man runs the business. First time I had an emergency, he fixed my dress in 24 hours. Although, it did cost an arm and a leg for the service and all I needed was to shorten my dress. Second time I came in here, I needed to get my pants hemmed within 2 days of time for a last minute interview. He did an excellent job but it also cost me plenty. I wouldn't normally spend this much for simple alterations but I think I paid extra for having them done in such a short period of time. And that's fine by me! I come here consistently to have all my pants hemmed and dresses taken in, and the little old man does a wonderful job. I don't mind paying for quality service. Sure, you may pay half the cost at the local dry cleaning store owned by some Korean/Chinese folks. But you'll see the difference in stitching. He does a great job! read more

I don't give 5 stars to just anyone, in fact I'm kinda stingy with them but this guy...oh man does he deserve 5 stars! Seriously, this guy is a miracle worker, no joke! Here's a little background. My bridesmaid dress finally arrived and the size/fit was all wrong. I won't go into details about how/why that happened but one month prior to my bff's wedding at which I was the MOH my dress situation was a mess and the dress was in desperate need of alterations. I asked around and no one seemed to know where to go in my area. I found this guy by mistake (while I was at the car wash) and decided to give him a try...I was desperate. Let's just say that my initial experience was a little daunting. Zahir, the alterations guy, and I believe the owner, was extremely friendly and very attentive. However, when I had the dress on and was going over the alterations with him he wasn't taking notes and there were no pins or markings being made on the dress so I wasn't sure how he was going to remember what to do. Normally I wouldn't be so concerned but this was an evening gown for my bff's wedding so I couldn't afford to have it screwed up. We went over what needed to be fixed/adjusted, when I needed it and how much it would be. To my surprise Zahir called me one week early and said the alterations were done and wanted me to come and try the dress on. When I arrived at his shop and tried the dress on my mouth fell open in amazement...the dress fit like a glove it was perfect (almost, and I'll explain that in a minute). I was amazed that without having done any markings on the dress that he so accurately remembered what needed to be adjusted and had accomplished everything I had asked for with no one being able to tell the gown was even altered. I was so amazed. The only thing that needed to be adjusted after this fitting was the straps and he gladly adjusted those, and completed those before the promised delivery date too. I was so thrilled with his services and skilled alterations on such a delicate gown that I gave him a hug and a kiss (on the cheek) and deemed him my new bff. I was ecstatic! I thought his price was reasonable too. Since then I have taken some jeans to him to be hemmed with the original seem added back on and he has done a great job, and as of the last time I went he only charged $15.00 for this. Now, when you don't get this service done for free (i.e. you bought your jeans at Nordstrom) this is definitely the place to bring them. Contrary to my dress fittings he did mark the jeans on where I wanted them hemmed. Seriously, Zahir was a miracle worker when it came to my gown and it could not have fit more perfect and my jeans have been great too! Came here twice and were satisfied both times with the alterations that were done. The first time my husband needed his suit for a funeral and decided to just alter an old suit rather than buy a new one. The cost was $150, but it definitely looked like a whole new suit and compared to the price we originally paid for his Armani suit, it was worth it! The second time I came in, I brought in a pair of jeans to be shortened in length with the original hem. It took a week to get done , but it was done right. Ridiculously slow, expensive, and rude. Also doesn't accept credit cards. 3 weeks and $40 to replace a zipper. That's outrageous. Brought him a dress with a busted plastic zipper. Asked him to replace it with a metal zipper instead of plastic. 3 weeks, $40, and he replaced it with a plastic one. I will not go back. I've gotten a few items altered here and have been completely satisfied with the results. I've paid about $12-$15 for each alteration, which I don't mind since the guy does the job right. It can take a few days for your alterations to be completed, so don't expect an overnight turn around. A plus that this place is open on Saturdays. read more

I've only been here once but if I ever need anything altered again, I'm coming back. The owner is friendly, knows what he's doing, and was careful when marking how far to shorten the hem of my pants. I needed the pants back quickly and he did it for me in a couple of days and they fit perfectly. The price was $15 dollars for a pair of pants, but I didn't have time to do it myself and I wanted these to last a awhile, so it was worth it. This place is strictly for alterations, it's not a dry-cleaner/alterations place. so this is what they do all the time. If the store you got your clothes at doesn't alter or takes too long, you can get timely and professional service here. read more

This place is pretty good for alterations. I am short but curvy and have to have a lot of things taken in at the waste or shortened. Sometimes the turn around is quite fast and other times it is delayed a week or more; perhaps due to workload or time off from the proprietor? Every time I have been there it is the same gentleman working. He is very nice and seems knowledgeable. Prices are as much or slightly higher than others, but it is conveniently close to my house and has nice hours. read more

Best alterations place ever! Zahir is the nicest man ever and is very professional. He provides the best quality in a very timely matter. I've been coming to him for years and I'm always satisfied! Today, I need the sleeves of my dress to be fixed and while he was working on it I grabbed a bite to eat from Taco Bell a couple stores down and by the time I walked back with my food in hand he had already finished! Dropped off 2 items. 1 was a basic fix for a zipper that I busted. The other was to bring in some extra fabric. He said he needed 3 weeks for both. That was very long for such easy jobs, but I wasn't in any rush. 3 weeks later I was running late for an appointment so I didn't check the items when I picked them up. OK, I admit I am a baby boomer, born in 61. The thing is that back then and through the 70's and 80's any boy or man wearing shorts longer than 3-4 inches were ridiculed and harassed to no end. Fast forward then to the 90's and to today and boys/men wear shorts that are definitely NOT shorts but only short versions of PANTS. If I wanted to wear pants I would wear pants! I truly hate this trend toward covering up the vast majority of your legs! I live in a HOT climate and I want SHORTS but alas anything shorter than about 5 inches even today is impossible to find, except for things like running shorts (with no pockets by the way - or if you are lucky a single pocket). But everyday shorts, nah, nothing shorter than 5 inches! What does that have to do with Dublin Alterations you might ask? Well I'll tell you. :) Well since I could not find anything shorter than 5 inches, I bought (over time) 7 pairs of 5 inch shorts from J Crew (Stanton shorts). But what I really wanted more than anything is 3 inch shorts!! So I took in my first pair to Dublin Alterations and liked what they did so well that about a week later I brought in SIX more pair and wanted TWO inches taken off but ALSO wanted to have the nice professional hem so it would look like they came that way from the factory. (I guess I'm just not crazy about the "cut-off" look. :) ) So I dropped these 6 pairs off on Wednesday and I knew that is a LOT of work so I asked him if I could have ONE pair done by Saturday so I could wear them to Gay pride in SF on Sunday. And I could pick up the rest next week sometime. He quickly agreed but when I called him today to confirm I had one pair ready to pick up, he shocked me and said ALL SIX were ready!! I was blown away! So I drive over there and sure enough all 6 pairs are ready and this gentleman truly done a PROFESSIONAL job! If I did not know better I would think these shorts came from the factory at THREE inches! He did THAT good a job! He was going to charge me $100 for all 6 pairs but I believe in rewarding someone who does such an outstanding job and I gave him $120, both for the professional work he performed AND the fact that it took him less than 3 days to do it! I was and am truly impressed and this gentleman has earned my future business as a loyal customer. Thank you Dublin Alterations, you truly know how to provide excellent service and how to treat your customers. My ONLY regret is that I forgot to ask for this gentleman's name - I think he is likely the owner. I will stop by there again soon and introduce myself on a more personal basis. After reading three really good reviews on Yelp, I took four ties to Dublin Alterations to have them fixed. When I got them back, I saw that one of them was lopsided, so I took it back to see if anything can be done. I had never seen any small business owners so unwilling to listen to their customers! He hardly took a glance at the tie and said, "It looks fine. I don't know what you're talking about." These ties are for the groomsmen at my wedding so I was worried that it will really obvious in pictures. I kept explaining to him that one side is higher than the other and he kept saying that there's nothing to fix and that it looked fine. I understand each ties are different and not all of them will come out perfect, but when it is obvious that it is lopsided, he should have acknowledge it. I had to remind him politely that there is a "satisfaction guaranteed" sign on his door, and I wasn't quite satisfied. I had to ask him if he can at least press it again to make it took even and he finally gave in. I literally took him less than 5 minutes to fix the problem! From this experience, I will not be coming back to Dublin Alterations. Can you imagine bringing your wedding dress here and notice something he didn't do right, and have him say that there's nothing wrong with it and refusing to fix your dress? I would not bring anything I really care about to this place if I were you. Sure he can do a nice job, but why would you risk having to deal with that kind of attitude? read more

Since when is using a sewing machine worth $400 an hour? There's no way it took him more than 15 minutes to do the work. Also, he informed me they do not take cards when I showed up. Brought in a pair of pants for hemming. I intentionally brought my tallest shoes to try them on with so that the hems would be a little on the long side for my other shoes, and to give a little margin of error in case the tailor screwed up. Even with that precaution, the finished hems were waaaaay shorter than we had pinned them at the fitting. Now I have to wear those pants with flats. I was really disappointed because the owner is totally nice and I thought he seemed like he really knew what he was doing. I won't be going back, even if it was just a fluke. read more

I Went To Dublin Alterations for the first time on Monday evening. I needed a dress altered by friday afternoon. Zahir said I was cutting it close, but agreed to have my dress done by friday. When I came in to get the dress on Friday, it was ready. I didn't have time to try it on and make sure it fit right, so I had a backup dress just in case. When it was time to go to the event, I crossed my fingers and put on the dress. The dress fit PERFECTLY! It came out way better than I expected. After the event, I took the dress off and turned it inside out to inspect the workmanship. I discovered that Zahir had taken the entire dress apart and resewed it so that it would still look perfect after the straps were shortened. I'm taking my sewing machine in for servicing tomorrow. I'd gone to this gentleman for several years. He did good, if expensive work, e.g. twenty bucks to sew two sheets together for a duvet cover, fifty bucks to get the sleeves of a blazer shortened, etc. So, being an avid hiker, I wanted new multiuse cravats. I had four left over from my time on active duty: think of a Boy Scout's neckerchief on steroids. Very large triangular pieces of cloth that serve as a sling, wound dressing, etc. I'd had them since I retired, and wanted them hemmed. I took in a second blazer to have the sleeves shortened, and showed him EXACTLY what I wanted done with the cravats: a simple quarter inch hem on all four. When I came to pick them up, they seemed smaller for some reason. I told him so, and he told me he had not cut them. I looked at the entire bundle and realized where I had given him FOUR cravats to hem, he gave me EIGHT completed pieces. For all of which he charged me $85.00. He is by far my favorite tailor. I bought some pants from Nordstrom and even though they provide free alterations for jeans that are purchased there I decided I'd rather pay and have them done by someone I know will do a great job. I typically have him hem my pants or add a patch to the inner thighs when a hole appears from time to time and have never had an issue. He is timely, polite and extremely appreciative of his customers. read more

I dropped off my blazer to shorten the sleeves so that it would show an inch of my shirt sleeves. When I picked it up, I didn't wear my shirt and was in a hurry. So I paid the money and left. I then realized the sleeves were not shorten enough to show my shirt sleeves at all. I came back to ask for further alternation. But the owner said it was my problem, not his.... My very expensive baby carrier got chewed on by a mouse. I took it to my alterations lady and she said she couldn't fix it, to go to the shoe repair guy. The shoe repair guy was going to glue it and then put a leather strap on the glue, not a pretty fix for my pretty, expensive baby carrier and being vegan the leather strap wasn't an option. Randomly stopped in here and he said he could fix it and he wanted me to go pick out a fabric I loved at the fabric store and he would sew that on. That's exactly what I was hoping for and it came out BEAUTIFULLY!!! I am so happy with it! It did take a bit longer than he first stated but since I wasn't in a hurry to get it back, it wasn't a problem for me. His work is excellent. He has a new customer!
