I was supposed to meet coworkers on Cinco de Mayo but they decided on another restaurant. I decided I would try it today for lunch. I placed my order over the phone. The young man who answered the phone was very courteous and obliging as I requestdd pico de gallo. I ordered 2 al pastor pork tacos. I pulled over and tore my first taco doooown. The pork was so tender and flavorfull you will also bite into a piece of pineapple. It was an explosion of flavors. When I walked in to pick up my order they have sitting outside as well as inside. It was a nice ambiance. I look forward to returning and trying more dishes from their menu along with a margarita in hand. If your ever in Windsor CT please stop into Huasteca Mexican. They have a lunch menu and dinner menu and a happy hour menu and a full bar. To all my Yelpers let's continue to eat our way through the world #foodie4life.

Stopped in with my neighbor on this rainy Saturday, and the place was steady with guests. Located in a plaza, and situated in a business zoned area of Windsor. Warmed taco chips and salsa were delivered when the waitress greeted us. I ordered a Sprite, my neighbor ordered a strong tequila drink After viewing the menu, (no lunch menu) I ordered the three hard taco dinner with refried beans and Mexican rice. My neighbor ordered the fish tacos, along with rice and beans After about 10 minutes, the dinners arrived. Let me first say my neighbor absolutely loved the fish tacos. She said they were flavorful and had a great little kick to them. I tried them and was like OK. They're just OK. My three tacos with beef were bland. There was no flavor to the ground beef. I don't even think they salted it. There wasn't any color to it and it looked like it was boiled if you can believe that. Add some lettuce, tomato and standard Mexican cheese, and that was the taco. Did I mention it was also watery on the bottom of the taco, and the taco ingredients fell out due to the moisture. Ugh! Service was good, not great, but good. The restaurant itself was very clean. This wouldn't be a place for me to return to, even though it was less than 15 minutes from my house. So put me in for one and done. The total bill for two lunches, plus one drink and one soda was $66 with tip. I think this lunch visit was way overpriced.

Nice happy hour for after work. Prices of food & drinks are affordable. Not sure of other days or times, but Monday at 3-4:30p it's pretty dead. So no problem with getting a seat at the bar. Chips & salsa with a mild kick are complimentary. The apps are generous in size, especially the soup. The wings aren't little. The blue cheese is delicious. I almost asked what brand it was. No matter which taco you choose, it won't be a bad decision.

This was an adorable place to have dinner. I loved the side and the service was great! The food came out quickly too! I think I'm kind of obsessed with Mexican style food. I ordered their chicken quesadilla and it was del ious! It was a nice balance of chicken and cheese. The side toppings were a nice touch. I love topping my quesadilla with guacamole. For dinner we shared the chicken and steak fajitas. I love that you have an option of corn or flour tortillas. The portion is definitely big enough for 2 but not if you're feeling a little hungrier than usual. Overall, great dining experience and good food.

Stopped at Huasteca when we were absolutely starving and craving Mexican food. The menu is really big with lots of great choices. The interior is also very pretty with nice decor. The free chips were really good, the salsa was a little mild but still good. After we placed our order, our food came incredibly fast. I was honestly so surprised when I saw the server coming around the corner within 10 minutes of placing our order. The food was good, my friend got a burrito and it didn't have any veggies which we thought was kind of strange but overall it was fine. My enchilada was good and the beans and rice were super flavorful.

This place is so underrated, we went on a sunday for labor day weekend and it was really relaxed not too many people there! The waiter was very nice and fast too! the place was clean and very welcoming too. we got complimentary chips and salsa and ordered elote, chicken empanadas, birria tacos, shrimp fajitas, and finally churros. not overly expensive and very amazing portions! the churros are a must have the best i've ever had and i've had MANY i forgot to take a picture of the elote, empanadas and churros but they're exactly as pictured here! AMAZING will be coming back for sure!

The food was surprisingly good! Service was ok. Very Very good value for money. Cocktail was dissent. We were there for lunch, wasn't busy at all. Nice bar and good vibes.

The perfect dinner on a cold rainy day after a hard day at work. The food came out piping hot and the beer was icy cold. The server was also very nice. I'm sad that we don't have tacos this good back home. The menu is small so they really focus on the items they do have and it shows. Highly recommend!

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while & finally got the chance. It's nicely decorated & very clean. The wait staff is very personable, timely & friendly. The food was wonderful & authentic. I wish my pork adobo tacos were a little more full (see picture), but they were very very good. We enjoyed the chicken fajitas, adobo tacos & birria tacos. We will be back!

We have not been here for a while.everything tonight was awesome! The drinks to appetizers of empanadas to my shrimp enchiladas were amazing and so delicious ! Every bite was full of thick tasty shrimp! The sauces were tasty and not too spicy! This time we sat in the bra- I do not remember this area being so spacious and bright! The seats and tables were great and the bar itself was expanded from the prior establishment. This truly was an enjoyable and delicious meal!!

My friend and I were in the area and searched some places to eat. We searched on Yelp and we chose this restaurant. Huasteca was inspired by the Historical Huasteca region in the southeast of San Luis Potosí, the northeast of Querétaro and Hidalgo, and the extreme north of Veracruz and Puebla. The restaurant had a beautiful sitting area outside but we chose to sit at the bar. I ordered a Passion Fruit Margarita and wow!!What a punch. It was strong, but I don't mind a nice strong drink. The passion fruit balanced the drink with the citrussy notes. Additionally, I ordered the Birria Tacos. The first bite was love at first sight!! What a mouthful of flavor explosion. The meat was cooked to perfection. It was very flavorful and you can definitely can tell the meat was cooked for hours. The pickled onions were delicious and the Birria Consommé was so delicious that I could of just ate it by itself. What a great dish. We also met the Bartender Alfie who was very informative and had a great personality. He informed us that the owner owns Frida's Restaurant in Hartford, Connecticut. What a great tip because I will check that spot out to. I've heard a lot of great reviews about that restaurant from the Yelp community. The customer service was great and the food was definitely delicious. I will definitely be back again.

I can't get enough of this place. From their friendly staff to the amazing food and drinks. They have the best churros I've ever had. Filled with caramel and fried to perfection. Their espresso martini is also the perfect blend of espresso and alcohol. Wilmer and his staff always make sure I have a great time!

Sooo definitely mixed feelings on this spot. Some friends and I wanted to hang out for Cinco de Mayo and came across this Mexican restaurant on Insta. Looked promising, I called up and they told us the wait wasn't too bad. It was a cute bar and eatery with outdoor umbrella seating. Service was kinda slow....like 20-25 mins for a drink slow. I will say the passion fruit margarita was pretty tasty! We had two rounds and I can say they weren't stingy with the tequila! Drinks were 11 bucks a piece. Average cost. Food - ehh. The chips and salsa were served automatically and was unlimited. I really did enjoy the warm tortilla chips and the housemade salsa. He had the perfect amount of kick to it with chunky fresh veggies! We ordered a sampler for an appetizer. The only thing on the sampler we liked were the mango habanero wings and the chicken taquitos. The quesadillas and nachos that came with the sampler were very basic. We also ordered empanadas, which had a perfect yellow coloring and crispy outside. The problem was both empanadas, chicken and beef were stuffed with potatoes. The potato meat ratio was not even close. The dipping sauce served with them was very bland, so we decided to ask for more salsa. (Pro-move) Overall, I've decided I would return for drinks and drinks only at the bar. But it wouldn't be at the top of my list.

I would say 5/5 for our server. The food left much to be desired and was a huge disappointment. The factory French toast was burnt - twice. It was charred and hard on the outside. This almost never happens with him lol. Chicken Little sandwich was so-so. The cheddar biscuit was overtly salty. The fried chicken itself had no salt. I do not eat Ham but my husband who tried it said the ham cheese and biscuit would almost make it too salty. I asked for some hot honey to balance my sandwich. I got a butterscotch caramel latte which was actually quite good! Black coffee was not good. We could see the chef from the kitchen window. He did not seem very passionate or attentive. I had high hopes for this place but will not be returning especially after the burnt french toast and the GI symptoms my husband experienced.

The menu was bigger than I thought with a wide range of options to choose from tacos to sandwiches to burgers. It took a while for the appetizers and drinks to come out. The service was okay at best. There seemed to be only one server, and it even seemed like the chef was helping out deliver food, so it looked like they were understaffed. The server was very friendly though. For appetizers, two dozen wings ($22.95 each) were ordered. The honey mustard and Kentucky bourbon BBQ were the chosen sauces. The quality of wings were very good. They varied in size and were extremely crispy. They seemed to be double fried. The honey mustard sauce was flavorful. There was a little inconsistency with the amount of sauce, but not a huge deal. The Kentucky bourbon BBQ was an elevated BBQ sauce to me. There was a slight bourbon flavor, but nothing over powerful. For my meal, I had the squealer burger ($15.95). I opted for a side salad, which was terribly overdressed, which was unfortunate. The burger was a half pork, half beef burger with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mustard, and mayo. The meat was cooked to my liking and there was an ideal ratio with the bread and filling. There was something salty about this burger, but I could not pinpoint what it was exactly. Overall, though, a satisfying burger. Will I go back? I would.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing from start to finish…read more I ordered wings, stuffed salmon with mixed vegetables, and roasted potatoes. The wings arrived with multiple visible feathers still attached--not just tiny feather remnants, but actual feathers that made it obvious the chicken had not been properly cleaned before cooking. (Enough to tell what color the chicken was before being slaughtered ). That alone was unacceptable. The stuffed salmon entrée was even worse. The presentation was unappetizing, the salmon was undercooked, and the stuffing was so poorly prepared that it was difficult to tell what it was supposed to be. The mixed vegetables were completely overcooked, soggy, and overwhelmed with chopped garlic, making them inedible. The roasted potatoes didn't resemble roasted potatoes at all. To make matters worse, the vegetables had apparently not been drained before being packaged. The entire takeout container was filled with approximately a centimeter of watery liquid mixed with lemon butter, leaving the salmon, vegetables, and potatoes completely floating in water and mushy by the time I opened it. What made the experience even more frustrating was how the situation was handled. When I called, I was initially told the owner was refusing to issue a refund and would only remake the meal. The bar manager was very pleasant. She then told me that I should have requested the vegetables on the side because "a lot of people do that to prevent that from happening." If this is a known issue with how the restaurant packages its food, customers shouldn't have to know to request a workaround--the restaurant should package meals properly from the start. I called back a second time hoping to speak directly with the owner. I was first told the owner hadnt arrived yet. The third time I called, I was told he wasn't available. The inconsistency made it feel like my concerns were being avoided rather than addressed. I wasn't looking for free food. I even offered to return it. I simply expected a meal that was prepared safely, packaged properly, and a business that would stand behind its product when legitimate concerns were raised. Unfortunately, I didn't receive any of those things. I don't recommend eating in or ordering to go! If you are unsatisfied, you'll be told you can't get a refund.

We were the only ones in the restaurant today at lunch. Our food was promptly served and my mom really enjoyed her Miguel's Tacos, however my chicken enchiladas left a lot to be desired. They were smothered with cheese that tasted like plastic. The sauce tasted like watered down tomato paste. The meal didn't taste right and the visual of the cheese piled up on the side of my plate made me feel queasy. It was even sunken into my beans. My gut was telling me to just stop eating altogether.. On top of this, our waiter, Juan, never came by to ask how we were doing or to fill our water. He seemed totally disinterested in serving us, with no enthusiasm whatsoever, a complete lack of energy in all he did. When he finally returned after we were done eating, I expressed my disappointment about my lunch (which I wish I could have told him sooner so maybe I could have tried something else), and thankfully he removed my meal from the bill. He also apologized for abandoning us at our table. (Adding that nobody even came over to re-fill our salsa, and my mom had to ask the girl helping Juan twice for a refill.) Overall I was really let down by this experience. I love Mexican food and I was excited to come here. I still pressed the 18% tip button when I checked out because my mom enjoyed her tacos, however when I reviewed the receipt after I left I found that their calculator includes the food AND Connecticut state tax as the basis for their tip calculation! Unacceptable!! When businesses do this, it really upsets me. I'm mad at myself for not inputting my own tip, but I honesty did not feel good after lunch. I've been burping constantly since I left and I can tell that the food I ate has upset the balance of the my microbiome =( I feel like I have plastic in my stomach. I will not come back to the restaurant and I'm hesitant to recommend it. Wish we went to our usual Mexican spots instead (Ochos, Puerto Vallarta).
