I saw on their social page that Redstone has really stepped up their game of late. Think a new menu, lower prices, a super simplified Happy Hour (Every menu item & drink is $3 OFF), Weekly Specials, a lunch menu, and special events Trivia Tuesdays, Game Night Thursdays, and Wine & Whiskey Wednesdays. Our server Josh was great, super friendly and helpful. With the Happy Hour discount, we bought 2 Mich Lights for $3 a pop, a BLT with chips for $13. And a chicken quesadilla for $13. The BLT had quite a bit of bacon, and likewise, the quesadilla had quite a bit of chicken. We were very happy with our Happy Hour experience. Nice job reinventing yourself, Redstone. read more

Swung by this quaint little pub after checking out Talcott Mountain and found it to be extremely enjoyable. The drinks are a good price and the popcorn is a nice touch. The inside has a nice English theme and made me feel like I was back in the UK. I'm not sure what business this place has doing with a lower score on yelp but I'm here to throw it 5 stars. read more

We came for trivia while staying in Simsbury. It was a fun night of trivia and had a couple of Headway IPAs. They give you free popcorn as you sit and drink at the bar which was a nice touch. The bar service was good and our bartenders very attentive. The ambiance is an old town pub style feel. read more

OMG. THE BEST ROAST BEEF sandwich I have ever eaten! What a find! Stumbled in here and am I glad I did. The atmosphere is authentic, cozy and interesting. Exposed brick and stone and rough cut wood. The owner's are charming, service and quality oriented. The service was stellar. The live music was good although a tad loud but I get it. While they specialize in craft beer, I drank a great Pinot Grigio that I wish I can remember the name of. But what I will not forget is the tender, tasty, buttery roast beef with horseradish sauce on a fresh roll. No gristle. No fat. Perfectly cooked. Sliced right in front of you and utterly delectable. Still awesome, came here last night for my second time ever (last time was a year ago) and the sandos are tasty, simple and delish without breaking the bank. The Rueben looked good, but I went with the classic roast beef with a side of au jus and it hit the spot. Excellent roast beef. Very good beer selection. Had the French dip. Medium rare roast beef, provolone, horseradish on a bun that was soft but held up. Served with a rich au jus. To drink had the Crucial Mass from Counterweight. Solid double IPA. Service was prompt. Place has a genuine pub feel with no dive feel. 4 stars because prices are slightly high. Would still say prices are fair as food and drink are of high quality. $14 sandwich, $9 beer. Will return and would recommend. read more

The food was delicious and fresh but not worth what we paid. Prices on the website were almost double on the bill?! The service was great but sadly, the owner decision to hold a "staff meeting" during our visit was less than appealing. Listening to the way he speaks to his employees was disturbing. We are new to the area and left knowing we won't be returning. No meal is worth listening to that kind of abuse. There is a large sign outside stating "every third Tuesday veterans eat and get a drink for free." It literally takes up most of the outside wall. I am a Navy Vet and they refused to honor the deal saying it was only good in large groups from the VFW. The server said she has been there seven months and never had to deal with this once. They refused to honor the deal. The place is okay I guess but this level of false advertising is really not cool and not honoring a deal for VETERANS is definitely a major issue. There are plenty of other places to get a beer that don't screw veterans out of a free sandwich and beer clearly advertised. Honestly, how much would that cost them? $7? This is a gem of Simsbury. This bar has fabulous charm and character along with a great beer list! The fire is going on a cold night or outdoor seating on a warm one. What is best here are classic cocktails like the Manhattan! (Finished with a Luxardo cherry!). The real surprise is the roast beef and bacon ! Situated in an old stone stable, the Red Stone Pub gives off a vibe of local corner bar meets Irish pub! Great selection of beer! The owner of this bar is absolutely intolerable and has made every experience inside a disaster. From giving me and my friends a 5 minute lecture about behaving before we even walked inside to falsely accusing my friend of skipping out on an 8 beer tab, Mark's behavior has reassured me and everyone I know in town to never step foot in the Red Stone Pub again. It's a shame considering the lack of bars in town, but entering the Red Stone Pub and giving any business to Mark and that establishment would be a big mistake. I would check out McLadden's or Maple Tree, just stay away from the Red Stone. Also, the food and beer are awful. read more

A couple years ago my husband and me tried to enter the pub on St. Patrick's day and we denied entrance. We are town locals, both professionals and we had ONE drink before in McLaddens nearby. The owner was at the door and sated that he doesn't let anyone who came from another spot. Never returned to this place and never will. read more

Happened upon this place because the Iron Frog was closed for remodeling. Walking in, there is a gorgeous re-purposed barn door to greet it's patrons, beautiful brick walls and a feel of a few of the Scottish Pubs I frequented while living in Scotland. That's just about where the feel of a "pub" began and ended. My friend and I really wished we had gone anywhere but here. Very pretentious patrons made us feel a bit out of place. We felt under dressed in jeans and sweaters as it seems this bar caters to a business/Simsbury elite crowd. Sure, they have loads of craft beer selections, but only up on a chalk wall far enough away from where we sat that even with my glasses on I still couldn't read. When we asked our waiter for comparable beers to what we normally would drink (my friend usually drinks Chimay, I'm more of a Belgium Ale kinda gal), he couldn't think of any, so we took our shot at ordering something off the wall, no pun intended. You can never go wrong with beer if you drink enough of it, however, this place should stick to beer and leave the food for the better restaurants in the area. My friend and I ordered the nachos for a snack and were highly disappointed at the whole experience. It took ages for our server to even ask if we wanted food, and once flagged down, we were promised their food was unlike any other we'd had. If by unlike any other, he meant pitifully bland and boring, then, yes, he's right. I tend to stay away from food like that. Our nachos came out on a paper plate with barely enough cheese to cover the tortilla chips. it literally looked like something I whip together at home when I'm out of food and too lazy to venture out to the store. Only difference was that these nacho's cost us more than they were worth and we weren't even given a fork or extra places to share. Family style dining with my best friend, at it's best. A lot of my friends dig this place, but I know of plenty of other places that feel more like home. read more

Tremendous beer selection; very heavy on darker microbrews and hoppy IPAs It's usually a somewhat older crowd (which means not everyone is in their 20s), but when you're mid 40s and beyond, that's not a bad thing. Good mix and vibe to the place regardless. I haven't gone too deep into the food selections, but the roast beef was fresh sliced and very good. Most people I know who have eaten there say good things and aren't too phased by the limited (but gradually expanding) menu. The staff is pleasant and Mark the owner is great. If I was to make one suggestion it would be add a couple of generic lagers. Some people I've been there with in the past aren't beer experimenters and were intimidated by the huge blackboard of options. The staff, however, steps in nicely and can help direct. Great beer selection! Anyone who loves trying local beers should check this place out and ask about the wall of foam club. This pub is a small cozy place with a nice outdoor patio with a fire pit. The bartender we had was very friendly and knowledgable about all the beers on their menu. They do have food here, although the selection is limited to a few sandwiches and appetizers. Very cool old place that was worth the A 30 minute detour to avoid trafActually built in 1904. The bartender said the place was originally a horse stall, hence the size of the booths with hooks on the outside. Diverse beer selection and the give you free popcorn. I was told this Pub was open in February of 2011. It's very clean inside and very welcoming. This is a pub, an enormous selection of beers, bottled or draft. The Guinness I had was perfect. The food menu is limited. We saw two sandwich selections and some appetizers. The roast beef is a good quality from Braveheart Meats. They shave the meat when it's ordered, so it's really fresh. The owners are really friendly and welcoming. Fireplace is working during the Fall and Winter. Really cozy. read more

Came here for the first time ever last weekend. I'll break down my experience: Atmosphere: my first impression, upon walking in, I immediately fell in love with its rustic look. The fireplace is cozy, the bare rock walls give it a neat underground feel, the high-backed booths provide privacy for those at tables, and the bar is simple and nice. The place is clean. The bartenders looked sloppy however. The satellite radio channel was awesome- nice acoustic tunes, at just the right volume level. Lighting was set nicely for a Saturday evening. Food: the friends we came with had told us prior that this was not a place you go to get a good meal. We ate at another establishment first. The menu is very limited, and from what I've heard, the food is just ok. That said, this pub does not advertise themselves as a big dining place. The focus is on the bar and drinking. As long as you know that up-front, it's not a big deal. Drinks: I love their beer selection. I love that it's written on a chalkboard on the wall and changes seasonally. The bartender was knowledgeable and excited to help us make our first-time choices, and the beer was served cold. That's important. They give customers a card with their 50 beers listed on it, and challenge you to join their "wall of foam", for those who fill the card. Nice touch. Our bartender was very engaged in helping our friends, who frequent the pub and are working on filling their cards, to choose new beers to try on this visit. Service: having been in this industry for 10 years, I am a stickler about service. As I mentioned, the 2 male bartenders looked sloppy. But they were engaging and helpful. No one was ignored. We got our popcorn refilled 3x! We were approached as soon as we sat down, beers were refilled promptly. All in all, I was impressed with the Red Stone Pub. I would definitely recommend it to people.
