Today I drove over from Alabama for breakfast! As usual they are great! I had an omelette and I ask for the use of low oil in the cooking process! That they did and it was good! My usual waitress was Katie and she keep me in coffee as usual! I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast at least! It's kinda like family here most of the time that is! See photo!

Go ahead see for yourself, I got called sweetie & left a big tip! ;)

I wanted an old fashioned breakfast and they delivered They first seated me in a booth near the door. Perfect. Then asked if I would "sit upstairs" because it was Brittany's turn for a table. I reluctantly followed them to another room that was so cold you could hang meat. I declined and walked back to the booth. Shirley was my server. I swear I think she said she's been serving here 26 years! Super friendly and accommodating. I had the 2 eggs plate. 2 fluffy scrambled eggs, creamy grits and 2 hand patted sausage patties with a warm, light biscuit. Not convinced the biscuit is made in house but it's still a good one. The sausage has a little kick and I loved it. Fresh coffee. It's worth navigating the construction for the breakfast. I wish I was staying till lunch just to try their burger. Please note that I had already put my grits on my eggs before I remembered to take a picture

Visit #1: I ordered the Voo Doo Tots and the prime filet. The tots? Okay, these were amazing. Like, I could've just eaten those and been happy. The steak was a solid prime filet--cooked well and enjoyable, even if it didn't quite steal the show from the tots. Visit #2: I tried the Chef's Charcuterie Board (which, plot twist, is served on a plate... not a board) and the Forklift Fried Chicken. The chicken plate was a little disappointing for me. The collard greens and cornbread were definitely "not how momma made them" (kidding... kind of). Still edible, just not memorable. Both visits left me satisfied, but it's more of a "stroll back" than a "run back" kind of place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, which always bumps a restaurant up a notch in my book. I didn't try one of their Old Fashioneds--apparently what they're known for--but I did go for the Fire of Mordor cocktail. Tequila-based, delicious, and honestly the name alone sold me. Cozy restaurant, and we had reservations both times even though it wasn't packed. Overall, Forklift is a nice spot to land for a good meal in Tupelo.

Such a quaint restaurant with amazing staff that made us feel right at home. We tried the dough burger, onion rings and tots! All exceptional! They even cut our dough burgers up so we could each try some- one plain and one with pickle, onion and mustard. The Elvis booth wasn't available at first, we stuck around for a while and it was soon vacated, the waitress let us go over and sit, taking our picture... again, service, food and atmosphere were so wonderful! Highly recommend adding this stop to your road trip of Elvis!!

They even have a sign at one table where Elvis ate. Walking in, it is a tiny place, but it has a cool enough ambiance. The place is filled with Elvis memorabilia. So, they are known for their dough burger. A dough burger is basically a burger that uses flour to stretch out the meat and can be sold for cheaper. I figured that I would give it a try. I also got a cheeseburger and onion rings. The total for my whole meal was under ten dollars before the tip. The food was pretty good. Nothing great, but definitely good. The only rings could have used more salt. The cheeseburger was decent and a better choice than a national fast-food chain like McDonald's or Burger King. I'm glad that I tried a dough burger and it was okay, but I preferred the all-meat burger. I would definitely recommend here. It is a piece of Tupelo, Mississippi's history and they definitely embrace the Elvis connection.
