I have lived here for 5 years and have nothing but good things to say (mostly). The highlight has to be the incredible doormen (Alex, Roberto, Mike, Richie, Yves, and one more guy whose name escapes me), the porters and facilities guys. This review is for the leasing office staff and how I was treated at the end of my 8 years in the building and as a pregnant woman. This review is NOT for the concierge staff. They were wonderful throughout my time there. The "general manager" refused to answer my emails and see us in person regarding a request we had. He was unprofessional and did everything he could to avoid me until after following up, he said I could request time through a link weeks after the fact. He refused to see people in his office and would hide and make his staff make excuses for him. (This sounds so silly, but it actually happened.) At the same time, we had a major issue with actual icicles forming on the inside of our windows in the winter time. Many times, maintenance came to review and try to fix it, and could never resolve it. Temperatures dropped severely in the unit and we knew it really wasn't going to be safe for our winter baby on the way. Finally, when we tried to exit our lease a few weeks early for this reason, the general manager claimed we regularly did not allow people into our apartment to review the issue and couldn't make exceptions for us. This was absolutely shocking and a blatant lie. The only time we did not allow someone in our unit (in my 8 years there) is when we were given an hour notice and I was IN LABOR and severe pain (baby was born shortly after that.) When I wrote back asking when I had ever rejected anyone coming in the unit, they couldn't answer and once again ignored me. I know at this point we were dealing with people with no ethical compasses so we left early on our own. This caused so much unnecessary stress during my pregnancy and we couldn't believe how they found the issue in our apartment anywhere near acceptable. We still can't believe this really happened. Separately, there is also tons of construction in the area and we would often wake up to drilling in the middle of the night this past year. I lived there for so long out of convenience and a covid-era deal, but would avoid it, as there are newer buildings in the area. If you have a real issue with the unit, they make no exceptions. Like most big firms, they couldn't care less about their tenants. This was evident in how I was treated as a long term tenant. If anyone from Equity corporate sees this review, I would love to connect to share more of my experience and how I was unfairly treated. I was unable to get in touch with anyone while this was going on and had to make hasty arrangements to leave due to the unsafe conditions for my child. read more

I moved in January 2026. I am leaving next week because I had no other choice. I am HIV positive with chronic asthma. This building made both worse. The HVAC unit was 24 years old. The shared ductwork had years of contaminated buildup that predates my tenancy -- management called it a housekeeping issue. They commissioned an "independent" inspection from a firm that works primarily with commercial landlords. They presented verbal findings to me as conclusive before any written report existed. When I requested the full report in writing, they admitted they didn't have it yet. On June 2, a maintenance worker entered my apartment, aggressively kicked aside equipment my Emotional Support Animals depend on, and said "you really wanna go there with me?" Management refused to identify him. A doorman told me his name. The worker was never disciplined. I was never given written confirmation he is banned from my apartment. After I filed complaints with the EPA, 311, and the NYC Department of Health, management put it in writing that I was abusive and aggressive. They quietly dropped that characterization once they realized I was documenting everything in writing. I consider that retaliation. The community manager responded to perhaps one percent of my written communications over six months. Not one email this past week. Equity Residential offered a lease break on health grounds. I took it. I am leaving entirely at my own expense. No compensation. No relocation assistance. The vents were never cleaned. Nothing was ever fixed. I am leaving New York because of how this was handled. If you have any health vulnerabilities at all -- do not sign a lease here. read more

This is such a great place to be. Extremely clean and above all the high professionalism and friendliness of the staff. The building is always clean and the patio area is so nice with his bbq grills. All that gym I got to meet some new friends in the building and above all I appreciate the GM Jessy and his team to make us all feel warm. I would definitely recommend living here as it is in the center of everything it's safe quite clean and above all it has that great and warm vibe. read more

I've been a resident of the Hudson Crossing community for a little over a year and my experience has been fantastic in every way. The elevators are efficient and the building is meticulously maintained by the Super, Jose, and his staff. The concierges are all wonderful and I enjoy being greeted every day with a smile and "good morning" or "welcome home". Alex is the morning concierge I see every day and he goes out of his way to be helpful and is always genuine. Not only does he greet me in the morning, he also greets my Labrador, Walter, with kind words and a treat. Alex is a doer, knowledgeable and competent. Alex's presence is a big part of what makes Hudson Crossing such a great community that I enjoy so much. read more

Hudson Yards, Hells Kitchen, Penn Station, The Shops, Time Square, grocery, Hudson River, Javitz Center, Madison Square Gardens, Port Authority. I love my home here, nice sized, well maintained, basic apartment construction, nice neighbors and AWESOME doorman team. Only fault, is the constant horn honking no body seems to care about enforcing laws to reduce noise. 37th/9th is a terrible intersection at rush hour and the horns are non-stop blaring. We are now into our second year of living here, and it sounds like it was really against my better judgment. I ended up staying in the building because I couldn't find another apartment. And this round was even worse than the last. When I first tried to see the apartment I wasn't allowed to because the leasing office was "out for the day." It would have been fine, except for the fact that by seeing the apartment the next day, the lease price went up. I send in the application and that's where the problems started. Alex Rodriguez, my leasing agent didn't process my paperwork so the apartment was left on the market. God Forbid someone else saw it and applied? They couldn't figure out how much I owed, and made me pay almost $1,000 more than I owed, and didn't figure it out until after I already paid it. When I finally moved into the apartment, the air conditioning wasn't set up, and it then ultimately had to be replaced. I've consistently run into issues like Mice, Cockroaches, people smoking in their apartments, a broken toilet seat, a leaky faucet, no hot water. You name it, it's happened. And after everything, they want to charge me $2,900 a month for rent for a studio. This is not a luxury building although they might think it is. read more

This will be a fairly long review, so if you do not want to read the whole thing: I would not recommend to live here due to the poor management as they are unreliable, unresponsive, and incompetent (see below for examples). This review is long overdue, but I lived here for approximately three years. The first year rent is very affordable, which is how they lure  new tenants in, but be aware that they will raise the rent by a good amount each year. Even during peak COVID19 when ALL other apartment complexes were lowering the rent to keep tenants, Hudson Crossings management did not care. They would not even lower the rent or take away the additional surcharge that they add on, on top of the rent you already pay. Additionally, they didn't even send me my renewal lease - I had to ask for it, which is never a good sign. Good luck trying to get responses from the leasing office. I had to email multiple times with the resident retention specialist and had to escalate my email to the community manager to even discuss my lease, as I would not get responses after days of waiting. They quoted my rent as one price and then backtracked and made the rent higher than before, saying it was 'a mistake' after I asked to send me a new lease with the lower quoted rent that they emailed me. The move-out process was also not a smooth. Due to COVID, they were not doing walk-throughs and requested all tenants moving out to send a video of the empty apartment. I sent the video with no response (again). I called the leasing office, where they said they were unsure why I sent the video. Note: they sent a document of the move-out process, clearly stating to send a video and confirmed with the asst community manager. The person I spoke to in the leasing office said they didn't think I would get any money taken out of my deposit since everything looked good (no holes in walls and thoroughly cleaned the apt). Not to my surprise, they took money out of my deposit to pay to repaint the walls and for a cleaning service for the next new tenant, so they didn't have to pay with their own money. After this horrible experience, I happily did not renew my lease with them and it was the best decision ever! Do not sign a lease here, even if the rent prices are low. They are low for a reason. The only thing about this apartment are the maintenance works and doorman - the only competent people working there! read more

This is regarding my experience touring this apartment as a prospective tenant. Ughhh....gosh this place was a big let down and well, gross. It was one of those places that you cannot wait for the tour to end and get as far away as possible! First is location. It is on the rougher side of the Midtown West/Javits Center. Walking from the A/C/E 42nd Street station, you pass the drug addicts near Port Authority, the dirty busses idling on 9th Avenue, and many indigents hanging around on the corners. Also, if you drive, it is important to know that the apartment is right near the entrances/exits to the Lincoln Tunnel, so 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue back up for at least 10-15 blocks leading up to the apartment DAILY after 3pm. Not ideal. There are def safer and more aesthetically pleasing areas of Manhattan for this cost. The tour of the apartment. Ok. So, I reserved a tour time at 3pm. I arrived at 2:45pm and the maintenance man at the desk was talking to his co-worker and while I was standing there said, "I am not working a f*cking minute more past three. You handle that." Awkwardly, I stand there and he ignores me. He then turns and says, "Yes?". Are you kidding me?? The building manager arrives to give me the tour. She is ghetto acting and just crass. In the hall while walking, she asks, "So, what are you looking for and how much do you make?". A) I put what I was looking for in the online appointment request and B) I do not discuss my finances in public, in a hallway, and/or to someone when I do not even know if I want the apartment. She pushes and pushes the entire time of the appointment. Throwing out that all they care about is the credit score. You have it or you don't. The apartments: For a one-bedroom at $3,200 it was small, cramped, and gross. The ceilings are pretty low for NYC standards and the rooms don't get good lighting. Each of the rooms she showed me looked out to a small and sad-looking courtyard and the apartments across it faced you. The halls were dark and cheap looking. I wouldn't rent here even if their prices were slashed in half. The unprofessional staff and rough neighborhoods make this a big NO. Come on, if the staff is already this bad for a prospective tenant, god knows how bad they are after you move in and have a broken appliance! read more

I can't overstate how fantastic the front desk staff is. Each front desk worker greets you with a smile and goes above and beyond to make your day a little bit easier. Whether that means helping you get a package shipped or assisting you with heavy bags, the front desk staff is very friendly and professional. The service team is also very attentive and responds quickly to requests for repairs. Both teams made it hard to leave Hudson Crossing. Unfortunately, the leasing team made it a lot easier, since they were hard to contact and inflexible about lease renewal terms amid COVID-19. When my roommate and I made the decision to leave, we were told someone from the building would schedule a pre-move out inspection as well as one after we had removed all of our items from the unit. Upon inquiring about the date and time of our inspections, a leasing team member said that in order to practice social distancing (although the leasing team was working back in the office in the building by this point in June), they were not doing in-person inspections, but that we could send over photos and videos and they would provide feedback. We sent ample photos and videos of the entire apartment but never heard back from anyone on the leasing team. Weeks later, we received an incomplete security deposit. When asked why, it took the leasing team over a week and numerous followup emails to tell us that things they would've seen had anyone opened our photos and videos--as well as issues that predated our living in the apartment--were the cause. We've been unable to reach them again and because of a lack of communication on Hudson Crossing's side as well as an inability to find new COVID protocols that work for residents, we are still missing a portion of our security deposit that I believe we are entitled to. It's disappointing that the service team's unprofessionalism outweighs the kindness and competence exhibited by the front desk and service teams, but I would recommend avoiding dealing with the leasing team if you can as it will only result in a headache and possibly the significant loss of money on your part. They certainly put profits over people which makes it hard for Hudson Crossing to feel like home. read more

I have lived at Hudson Crossing for over 12 years and it has and continues to be a great place to live. Not just for the usual reasons of great location, cleanliness, 24 hour doorman, great apartment, gym, dry cleaning drop-off, ATM, outdoor space with BBQ grills but because of the amazing on-site management and maintenance teams. This to me is the best! The recent updates to the building lobby & interior hallways, outdoor deck space and most recently the laundry room have been really nice too. In all the years I've been here the concierges, service technicians & porters have been outstanding when it comes to the day to day responsibilities and maintenance. They are friendly and quick to address any issues not only with the building but with my apartment, which I'm happy to say have been minimal. This also goes for the great on-site leasing team and even the management company Equity Residential who have worked with me over the many years to make it easy to continue leasing and enjoying my home. Hudson Crossing is a great place to live and the management is excellent! I took over a lease here May 2016 and they couldn't have made it any easier to do so -- no nickle and dime fees, no nonsense -- just an easy approval and an easy move-in. I've since renewed once and recently transferred to a large apartment -- again they made it seamless. The staff is incredible - extremely friendly and nice, extremely responsive, and a joy to be around. I've even had visitors comment on how terrific the doormen and staff are. I've never had an issue with the apartment and any small thing are fixed day-of. I highly recommend this building to anyone looking for a great place to live. read more

If you ever want to feel like less of a person then live there and make sure Brooke is the leasing coordinator. First and foremost before you rent an apartment in this building: Be advised that it operates largely as a HOTEL. As in, dozens and dozens of European tourists (albeit generally polite and lovely people) coming and going every single day of the week. The front desk staff is fully versed on things like "check in time" and "luggage storage fees" etc. I have nothing against tourists, since this is New York City and the Hudson Crossing Hotel is in a great location. But the hotel aspect gets old. Fast. For example, when you get to the laundry room and there are two maids using all 14 washers and all 14 dryers simultaneously to do the hotel guests' laundry. Or when you need to catch an elevator and it stops three times to let in 11 school girls from Spain on a trip to the Big Apple. Second, you absolutely must minimize your contact with the leasing office as they are entirely untrustworthy. They have zero customer-facing skills and cannot be relied upon for accuracy of information. Fortunately (?) the changeover in the leasing office staff is quite frequent. So if you do have issues with them (...and you will...) try and wait until the new person comes on board. They will have no prior history on your situation and won't believe or verify anything that was previously agreed upon, but at least you will have a new person to fight with. Lastly, the building staff .....wait for this .... are FANTASTIC! If there is any reason to live in a full-service building, it's this -- the porters and desk staff are always ready with a smile, will bend over backwards to be accommodating, and will make you feel like you've come "HOME" at the end of your work day. Even though the tourists often treat the staff with disdain (and I'm sure they don't tip....hello, they're Europeans), I've always seen the building crew act professionally and patiently. We had a lovely apartment at the Hudson Crossing Hotel with a delightful view, that was by and large a good place to live. If your dream is to live in a nice hotel but you can only afford $3,500 per month, the Hudson Crossing Hotel is for you. As you jockey through the suitcases in the lobby you can brush up on your French, your Italian, even your Australian! Hopefully you're a smoker, and then you can hang out with the other hotel guests on the patio (or in the stairwells, which are delightfully decorated with their cigarette butts). Better yet, just rent an apartment there for a week. You'll be better off. read more

Hudson Crossing, and their parent company (Equity Residential), discriminate against families and pregnant women. We had lived there, without incident, for over 2 years when my wife and I found out we were expecting. Suddenly, Our rent was going to be raised in a way it had never been before, and Jim Spinda, the building manager, mislead and perhaps outright lied to us about being able to stay in the building for a reasonable amount of time with our twins. Instead, a 6 month pregnant woman has to be out looking for a new place to live because, according to their very own words, it was not in their "business interest" to allow us to stay. If you care about decency, dignity, or equality for women and families, you will never live here, or with any Equity Property. read more

I feel that most people have a problem with this building when they're moving out, which I have not done yet, so I may have to update this later. However... I love living here. I almost never hear my neighbors in my building. Yes, there is street noise, but this is Manhattan and that exists. It gets a little noisy from tunnel traffic around rush hour but, for the most part, the noise isn't excessive and doesn't interrupt my day or sleep. Maintenance issues are taken care of within a day or two. The desk staff is friendly and helpful. I love the outdoor patio. I like the neighborhood. It gets a little peculiar right near Port Authority, but otherwise is fine. I have no problem walking around at night and feeling safe. read more

I just cannot believe the customer service just hang up my phone directly! I was a resident there last year. I moved out but had no time to change of my diploma mailing address. The doorman told me they had no right to open the mailbox until another resident move in the apt. So I kept checking the apt availability on Street-easy and hopefully got my diploma back soon. A few months passed and no one wanted the apt. (pretty wise decision since the apt never worth the money and the leasing office is not friendly at all.) I really need the diploma and called the leasing office. After learning my request, the person just hang up the phone directly!! Can you believe that??!! Impolitely hanging up the call?? I had been forewarned that trying to find an apartment in NYC, could be compared to what one goes through to buy a home. It could be extremely stressful, you would have to react quickly and be prepared to settle with something you may like. It took me two years before I decided to venture out and find an new apartment on my own as my husband had not yet transferred to NYC. I started my apartment search with Hudson's Crossing in Hells Kitchen and the Mantena Apartments, that are part of Equity Residential. I took a one year break in between searching for an apartment in Hell's Kitchen. I had originally settled on the Mantena apartments, leasing agent Beth was extremely accommodating and allowed me to view several apartment layouts. In general the locations are great in being close to Penn Station, West Side parkway. Brooklyn Fare market is across the street and open till 11:00 for those last minute grocery needs. Plus unlimited restaurant choices! In the end I went with Hudson's Crossing. There I worked with Maria, who was also very accommodating and made my move seamless. I have been at Hudson's Crossing for 2 months. All staff and residents have been pleasant and friendly. When I moved in everything was clean and in working order. I have had to submit a minor service request, which was completed in a timely manner. Once I was ready to move forward with getting an apartment, my experience with Hudson's Crossing was pleasant, efficient and one that I will recommend. read more

No major issues - general things break or need replacement every now and then BUT the maintenance team is quick to respond. Alex in the leasing office is a great addition to the property. In my past experiences with management/leasing offices they generally do not care or are just rude, but she is always polite/respectful. The doorman are friendly and really go above and beyond, A+++. I recently moved out of Hudson Crossing apartments and was EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with my one year there. Not only was our rent raised 17% after this first year, but the corporation who owns the building has very obviously decided that using the majority (or at least half) of the apartment complex as a short stay hotel is more lucrative than housing permanent or year-long tenants. Therefore, the fact that my roommates and I had extensive background checks and credit checks became obsolete... we never recognized anyone, who knows how safe these one or two night tenants were, etc. Going back to the raised rent, I definitely understand that it is tough to find a rent controlled building that legally cannot raise your rent, however, we were very directly misled upon signing our lease to think the rent could not be raised above 2% above the "legalized rate". Unfortunately for us, the "legalized rate" refers to fair market value, aka, whatever the management company perceives the market value to be.... Additionally, coming off of one of the worst economic crisis's this country has ever seen, where other friends and colleagues who lived in Manhattan were still seeing little to no increase in their rent, it is completely absurd and unreasonable for the company to raise the rent so drastically (particularly since it was four blocks from Port Authority). All in all the doorman are friendly, however they never call you and tell you someone is there, they simply send them up, the ownership company is pompous and ridiculous, and I regret our ever signing a lease there. I very highly recommend that you think twice before signing a lease with this company. You will be welcoming a probable HUGE rent increase in one year's time, the many strangers who are visiting from around the world on a daily and weekly basis, and a leasing office that is completely untrustworthy and misleading. read more

It's wonderful for summer BBQs and gatherings. The only complaint I have is that there's been an empty space on the ground floor for the last 2 years I've been here, and it would be nice if they turned it into a lounge or study area. I've lived here at Hudson Crossing for just over a year, and have no intention of moving. For New York, the rent is pretty inexpensive, and the location is a little west, but definitely within walking or short uber rides from just about anything you'd need. The service team is amazing, and tend to everything quickly and so professionally. The concierge team is awesome as well, and they are always so helpful and going above and beyond to take care of things for you. From the moment I met with the property manager to look at the apartment, to my move in day and any question I might have had everyone has been more than accommodating. In addition the front desk staff always so pleasant and helpful. The building is well maintained and my apartment is roomy, spacious and very clean. If I can help just one person avoid renting at Hudson Crossing, I want to do so. This is why I felt the need to write this review. If I could give it no stars I would. There is only one word for Hudson Crossing, GARBAGE! Although the concierge people may be friendly, most of them don't do their job; allowing people upstairs without being announced, often not sitting at the desk, etc. And the maintenance men are no better, they are lazy and have little desire to help rectify any residents' issues. The leasing staff changes so often that by the time you get familiar with one group, they're gone. However, I might even be able to deal with the mediocre staff if the building wasn't so poorly constructed. Hudson Crossing is listed as "luxury" apartments, but this building is a far cry from luxury. I could list out all of the things that are wrong with this building, poorly kept, ineffective leasing staff, etc., but I think living in an apartment with walls as thin as cardboard should be enough to turn anyone away from renting here. Let me say this again so it's clear for anyone interesting in renting here, the walls and floors of each apartment are as thin as paper! Just to give you an idea of just how poorly constructed these apartments are, I sit in my apartment and I can hear my neighbors TV, coughing, talking, opening and closing their medicine cabin. I hear my upstairs neighbor vacuuming. And if I can hear my neighborsndoing their daily activities, just imagine what else I hear...Yes, I even hear my neighbors having sex. Noise is a MAJOR issue in this building amongst other things, so if you're looking to come to a relaxing home, you will not get this at Hudson Crossing. You'll be subject to the noise throughout the building. As if the noise from the tunnel and 9th Avenue traffic wasn't enough. I could go on and trust me, the list of issues in this building are long, but I hope this is enough to turn anyone away. I been living at hudson crossing for a few years. This past year the building had several sort term rentals and it became a weekend hotel. The issue has been resolved and short term rentals are no longer allowed. Te building is currently being upgrade with new paint,carpet,tile,laundry room and patio. The staff is great, the bulding is safe and clean. Highly recommond checking it out. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. There are so many things about the way Hudson Crossing conducts business that are completely innapropriate and unbelieveable. For starters, the area is absolutely awful and I never felt safe walking around there at night. It is right near Port Authority which brings some interesting characters, so you would assume the doormen and security are tight. However, in the year I lived there, I got less than 10 phone calls letting me know guests or delivery had arrived. They let absolutely anyone in the building, which is very frustrating when you know you're paying more to live in a doorman building. The doormen are friendly but essentially just there to greet you and really don't serve any purpose. Other problems I had with the building: the leasing office never disclosed to me that the building does corporate and short-term leases. EVERY SINGLE DAY there were people in and out of the building with suitcases. They weren't just business men- many were foreign tourists who spoke little English and considering I went through an extensive background check to live there, I didn't feel safe knowing the building was essentially operating as a hotel. In addition, our Con Edison electricity bill was off the charts each month. We took all necessary steps to lower it but couldn't seem to figure out the problem. Finally someone from Con Ed came to check and we had been charged more than double each month. I am positive this is because other apartments in the building that were used as short-term or nightly rentals were tacked onto our electricity bill because Hudson Crossing had no way to charge them during their stay. I would have moved out regardless, but the final straw was when my rent was increased over 15% to renew. Ridiculous. Every broker I spoke to assured me that was way beyond market value and had never heard of such a rent spike. The building as a whole is very untrustworthy and I would never recommend this building to anyone. read more

When I moved into this apartment building, there was a expensive and non-refundable move-in fee of $350. When my one year lease ended, the rent for my next lease term was raised by a whopping 15-20%! Also, I often see people with many luggages standing in front of the front desk as if they are checking-in at a hotel. Perhaps a portion of the building has been secretly converted into hotel rooms? Anyways, after knowing the ridiculous increase of my rent, I decided to move out, and I would not recommend anyone to move into this apartment building. read more
