*** Please note: MANY of the one star reviews below are for Hudson Physicians, not Hudson hospital- they are two separate entities. *** This hospital and the clinics included are TOP NOTCH. Let me break it down by departments.... Birth Center- I had my first baby here: it literally felt like I was the only patient there. I ended up with an emergency c-section but never once did anyone use those words because, as you know, it would have caused mass panic. In later found out those were the "technical" terms and let me tell you it never felt like anything was awry, rushed, out of line or misunderstood. I don't have enough positive words for the excellent experience I had from the nurses, to the OR, nursery, to the anesthesia staff, to the house keepers and the people delivering our meals. Everyone was so kind and wonderful. They really let me call the shots with my birth and explained everything so well. And SO CLEAN! I regret not having my second here. My experience was so different and I wish I would have gone back. Primary care- I recently moved my entire immediate family and my parents to the clinic here. Scheduling is efficient, appointments run on time and communication is great. I have no complaints about any of the doctors I've seen. Specialty clinic- we've been in Derm, cardiology, ENT, Rheumatology and cardiology. No complaints. All run like a well oiled machine. A couple family members have had referrals to outside testing and surgeries and all have been so smooth. Could use some better signage, but that's a minor detail. Comparative to other clinics included the area (ie the "Medical Mall" aka Hudson physicians) they are much less money hungry and truly care about you. The employees look HAPPY, there's much less turn over so way more familiar faces and that definitely varies over into the care you receive. read more

Went to the ER for chest pains. Received prompt care from friendly and caring staff. The care quality was first rate. I will be selecting a primary care doctor at their clinic and transferring my medical files as we just moved to Hudson last fall. read more

We had to visit the Hudson Hospital emergency room in December, and I want to start by saying the doctor and staff were excellent -- caring, professional, and attentive. However, we were very disappointed by the billing. The ER doctor prescribed 14 tablets (2 per day), which we filled at the Hudson Hospital pharmacy for $68 (no insurance for this fill) -- about $4.85 per tablet. Before we left the ER, one tablet was administered on-site. We were later billed $373 for that single tablet. For context, publicly available pharmacy pricing data shows that medication typically cost around $2 each. It's easy to see why people feel hospitals such as Hudson Hospital "gouge" their patients. There was absolutely no reason to administer that single tablet (for $373) when the prescription was going to be filled within the hour. And, charging 77 TIMES their own pharmacy price is simply outrageous. Hudson Hospital - you should be ashamed of the way you're trying to gouge your patients - just because "you can". read more

For a small hospital they do a great job. I've had heart rehab and physical therapy. The pharmacy is extremely good.

My husband had his colonoscopy at Hudson Hospital. It was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The healthcare staff was informed of my husband's lack of response to certain medications prior to his procedure. We wanted it to be as pleasant as possible. NONE of this was taken into consideration in managing my husband's pain/anxiety thru the procedure. My husband FELT EVERYTHING!!! I would NEVER RECOMMEND this facility for this type of procedure. read more

I attended the bi-weekly parent support group here that Paige leads here. It has an interesting guest speaker which I found useful. Also, there is a baby weigh-in at the beginning of class. Overall, this is a wonderful group that talks about daily joys and concerns of parents with their kids. I wouldn't send my dog here. My wife needed a release to work, which she got, but it was not completely filled out. On Friday morning she took the paper to have them add her job title insertedin the incomplete paperwork which her employer needed before she could get back to work. After several calls on Friday they did not get this done. After several calls on monday this is still not done.. Hopefully after 4 days this will get completed, just in time for my wife to have lost her job because of complete incompatible. read more

Unpleasant experience. I went to the E.R. one night for acute pain in my ovaries and lower back. The E.R. intake receptionist was phenominal, so sweet, caring and pleasant. Once I got back to the E.R. the nurse was nice. While I sat in my private curtained area I heard a man next door to me start to vomit, painfully. The nurses at the station started laughing and giggling loudly and making jokes about how it must smell, etc. How unprofessional!!! I became very uncomfortable and just wanted to go home. It doesn't exactly instill a sense of trust. A young doctor came in and was really bored with me and was pretty dismissive about it just being my back. I felt like they were laughing about me too when I left. Just uncomfortable. I might not give such a critical review if the nurses weren't being so childish about bodily functions. Aren't they supposed to have empathy and offer a superior level of care instead of acting like a group of airhead teenagers? read more

My cousin, who is elderly with fragile bones, recently fell and shattered her shoulder. When I say shattered, that is exactly what I mean...shards of glass. She went to the Hudson ER. What a mistake. The doctor told her to forgo surgery and go home to heal. He gave her a very minimal amount of pain relief and she suffered in agony for days. As I write this, she is still in horrible pain waiting for surgery in two days for a shoulder replacement. I know and believe a dog would have been given better care. If you or a loved one find yourself in a similar situation, go to another ER like Stillwater or Tria in Woodbury. The current health care system has become an enemy of the people, but there are still good doctors around. You need to find them and be prepared for an emergency. The care was good, but if you are a Medicare patient, flee! They are designated as a "critical access hospital - a rural hospital," by Wisconsin, even though they are not rural. This designation was bestowed by the Federal government to help struggling rural hospitals. To be a critical access hospital, they can't be more than 35 miles from another hospital. Does this matter to a patient? Absolutely! It allows them to charge whatever they want for your 20% Medicare coinsurance payment. How bad is this? Shockingly bad. Here is what happened to me: My procedure took 20 minutes. Yet, this hospital charged me $8600. Medicare determined the reasonable cost was $900, so Medicare paid 80% of this. For coinsurance, I'm suppose to pay the remaining 20%. But, being a rural critical care hospital, they are allowed to charge me 20% of $8600, instead of 20% of $900. Now, $8600 is nearly 10 times the true cost. They use these ridiculously high charges to maximize the discounted price they can get from Medicare. But, I ended up paying 10 times the standard coinsurance rate. Yes, this is fraud, .. legal fraud. There is nothing you can do, but avoid them like the plague, if you are a Medicare person. read more

I had a horribly degrading and dehuminizing birth experience here. I transferred in as a precaution. The room was overstaffed with 4 nurses. One of them was disapprovingly shaking her head. There was no medical reason for the overstaffing, as one doctor later admitted. I was overexposed and kept completely naked during the entire birth (several hours) with 11 people in the room. There was no medical reason for that, another doctor admitted later. With 4 nurses in the room with nothing to do except make not medically relavent and medically inaccurate and antiquated gawking comments one would think they could have offered me a blanket or a gown. The inserted their hand into without so much as a word to me, as though they didn't need my consent and was entirely inconsequential. With my last ounce of energy, I begged to not be placed on my back at least three times. I was simply ignored. One of the nurses insisted on forcing my leg up into an unnatural lopsided position. I asked her to stop and was met with an anatomically incorrect and extremely patronizing remark. One of the nurses totally violated HIPAA by talking about the birth when I had visitors in the room the next day. It was a very hostile and direspectful environment to give birth in. read more

I actually scheduled an appointment with a Doctor that is located in this hospital and upon entering this quaint smaller hospital I was immediately impressed with the level of cleanliness. Things were bright and organized. The staff were all friendly and my doctor was professional yet had an awesome caring bedside manner. When choosing your health care you will find a wide variety of choices I would feel confident referring my friends and family here based on my own experience. Glad to know they are close to home. read more

Nursing staff at the hospital very knowledgeable and caring. Dr Petel is the best! Scheduling of in room xrays and procedures is very smooth and efficient. You receive much more personalized care as compared to larger hospitals such as Regions in St Paul or Abbott Northwestern in Minneapolis. read more

The billing department for the Clinic is TERRIBLE! My daughter is covered under 2 medical policies. Instead of picking up the phone and calling insurance company, verifying dates of coverage and submitting claim, they sent me a letter ordering me to call Medica and make them update their website? Like I can control a major insurance company? The billing department too lazy to do their job. Very doubtful doctors will get paid. The doctors are wonderful there.The billing staff incompetent. While they are sending me letters, they could have called insurance company and already had claim paid. The billing department is a nightmare. read more

If I could give zero or negative stars, that is what this place would've been given. I had to stop there today on my way home from a Memorial weekend vacation. I have a disease in my spine that causes an excruciating amount of pain sometimes. I threw up three times on the way there from the pain. It was the worst pain that I've ever felt in my life. They didn't bother with an xray, didn't bother suggesting anything to help me, but flat out said to me the moment she walked in the room, "We don't give out narcotics here, so if that's what you're looking for, you may as well be on your way". I flipped out! I NEVER asked for any narcotics, not ONCE! Because I cannot take any NSAIDS, I'm assuming she thought right away that I was drug seeking. I was mortified at how I was treated. There HAS to be other medicines that are not narcotics that she should have suggested. I ended up leaving with no relief at all and had another hour to drive to get home yet. It was torture on me. More importantly, they treated me like a junkie. And that was wrong on so many levels! On the way out, I was chased by the billing department screaming at me that I had to sign some paperwork before I left the property. I said "No, I DONT, because I am NOT paying for this visit. Saw dr Blackford in October here for hip flexor pain hoping for a referral to a physical therapist. Instead she had me walk back and forth in the room, moved my leg a few ways and ultimately told me to take it easy with exercise for two weeks. keep in mind this was after I had been taking it easy for about a month already, and told her that. She acted as though she had no time for me and did not listen to what I had to say. She acted like she had figured me out in a mere 15 minutes, and here I am about a month later with the same issue. so so so so so so so frustrated. On top of that, I asked her about pain in my tailbone which I fractured a long time ago and instead of asking questions or trying to figure out the origin of the pain, she sent me off to get an x-ray which I wish I had turned down because it was completely pointless. She called me back just to tell me my tailbone wasn't fractured??? I already knew that???? Had no idea what she was doing or why she even sent me to get the x-ray. Had to go into Urgent care cause of dislocated ribs, visit didn't even take an hour (unless you count waiting) the doctor didn't touch me or do anything just asked questions and prescribed pain meds and cough medicine. The doctor said I could get a partial refill upon request and I even have it written on a paper. The pain meds were supplied for 3 days for a dislocated rib bone and cartilage. Doesn't heal in just 3 days and the pain is pressured and uncomfortable. Tried getting ahold of doctor to get refill and he totally Ghosted me. For 3 days I tried getting ahold of this hospital to get the partial refill since it is written on paper that I can get that. BUT the thing is, I had 4 different people (while I was just trying to talk to my dr) tell me that I just needed to go back to the Urgent care room or Emergency room and see someone else. I don't have health insurance, I'm not trying to have a whole other bill for this when you simply said I could get a partial refill upon request. Don't go back on your word. Not professional. I'm in pain but clearly they just want more money by telling me to come in again vs just following their word that's on paper. To Whom This May Concern, My Wife and I are expecting our first child and we wanted to find a hospital that was close and would provide a good experience. We went in for one prenatal visit. When were were done we scheduled our next appointment. Some things changed with our schedule and we needed to adjust the appointment. When we called to reschedule, we were told that no Doctors could see us after 3pm for the next 4 months. After trying to come up with a solution to the problem we were hung up on by the scheduler. This was right at 5:00 PM so when we called back no one answered. Yesterday I went to the minute clinic for a Stye on my eye. I was told that they cannot treat the Stye and I would have to make a Clinic appointment. I made Clinic appointment. When the Doctor came in to see me, she spent less than 2 minutes in the room and she said I needed to schedule an appointment with an ophthalmologist. This was a huge waste of time and now I have to pay for a clinic visit for a doctor that did absolutely nothing. The Hudson Hospital has lost our business. Treated dismissively and disrespectfully. Took my 50 year old brother to ER after he fell on the ice 2/7/17 and has a possible broken rib and injury to his osteoarthriis collapsed spine. He was on his knees crying in pain. Doctor told him he didn't have a broken rib and all he would give him for the pain was ibuprophen. My brother begged for something for the pain but doctor just stood there with his arms folded. It broke my heart to see my brother degraded that way. He is flat in his back today and cannot move. read more

We just had our baby there the other day. I want to say, it was the best experience ever!! The nurses and doctors go above and beyond to make the experience comfortable and enjoyable. The staff in the birthing center was amazing but after an issue with the insurance company they denied us to see our daughter for a fever. The lady on the phone told us to take her somewhere else!? Their pharmacy is beyond super slow. It typically takes longer at the pharmacy than it does at the doctors appointment. The last couple of times we waited over 30 minutes. Also 2 out of the last 5 times they were out of the medications that were prescribed. Service is horrible and I've never seen people work so hard at looking busy. Never again....Ill be finding a different pharmacy to go from now on. read more

Worst experience I have ever had. Urologist Dr. David Henly placed a right sided uretheral stent with a kidney stone still in my right ureter. I also had a kidney infection that was "extreme" they had me one antibiotic for the first week, then told me to throw it away, that I needed another to combat the "resistant bacteria". A few days later at my follow up check up, they told me I didn't need another pain medication prescription (He told is Nurse to tell me) and he would see me in another week. I've never in my life experienced anything so painful and all he wanted to prescribe was a bladder spasm medication. Needless to say, I'll never have him as my Doctor again. I went to Regions and they had a hard time believing he refused to help me. I gave them his number and said "when you find out why...you can fill me in." This whole experience was Hell and he just made it worse. The last thing I needed was an uptight Doctor worried about his own hide and the number of prescriptions he was writing. I can't find another reason for his refusal. read more
