I was admitted to the burn and pulmonary unit to receive a complicated treatment to drain fluid from my lungs. I spent over a week being tended to night and day. I cannot say enough about the quality and compassion I received from everyone on my care team. The nurses and doctors are in a class all by themselves. The kindness and compassion they showed me day and night was extraordinary. You can tell they are all there because of the passion each one has for healing and taking care of people. It was nothing short of an example the whole medical industry should strive to reach. read more

I visited the Emergency Room and was seen by Dr Benjamin Willenbring. I would not recommend care at Regions ER unless it's life threatening which requires admission to the hospital. The doctors and nurses did not counsel or inform regarding treatment options and side effects for my condition. I experienced a side effect from the administration of drug after discharge from the hospital. Staff failed to perform medication reconciliation. read more

Won't even let you use the cafeteria unless you're visiting someone. I was turned away and told I wasn't supposed to be there. Never heard of such a money hungry place turning away people wanting to pay money, but that's how it is i guess. Exceptional service during a terrible experience. Recently spent a couple days at this hospital during a family member's passing. Worst day of my life but - something these people see every day. What a tough job to wake & work to dealing with sickness, injury and loss day in and out. I cannot express my gratitude for not only their care but the extraordinarily genuine attitude. Words and actions I will never forget. Thank you to Nina and Lauren C for your professionalism, care and communication. I told Lauren I appreciated her service, doing a job that so often deals out sad days. She said she knew from when she was young that she wanted to care for people. Update... I found out that the woman was actually a physician's assistant (her name is Katherine B.) and not a nurse. Last time I went to urgent care I was unfortunate enough to see her again. She had told me to go sit and wait in the wrong waiting room for my next appointment and even passed by me twice without saying anything. I went to ask the people at the front desk where I'm supposed to be and after saying the P.A.'s name they all sighed and rolled their eyes. They then kindly escorted me to the correct waiting room a floor up! The man who escorted me explained to the staff upstairs what had happened and again, they rolled their eyes and shook their heads when he said the P.A.'s name. She's definitely a known problem there. read more

Much better this time thanks to great nursing staff. It is nice they kept him longer and didn't rush him out. It took a while to clear up breathing issues. My brother is special needs so someone was there to assist during the day. Have your ticket stamped for a parking discount. Meals were ordered for my brother that he couldn't eat and the food service department was upset that we would order food when an auto tray had already been placed on order. No matter what we tried that never was fixed and required some arguing just to receive food. I even ordered some for myself as they charge $10 for a decent amount of food. I rarely go to the ER, but as a medical professional, know how overwhelming it can be for all. I had to go in for something emergent, and was rapidly triaged, seen immediately, and had a thorough workup. Obviously, depending on when you go, the ER will be busy at different times, but I had amazing nursing care, radiology technicians, PAs, etc. and was really thankful for these front-line lifesavers! Thanks to all the amazing medical professionals who are there for us 24-7 and holidays! read more

As a typical guy who knows everything I was up on a ladder and fell, multiple broken bones, both the sheriffs department who arrived first and the paramedics both strongly suggested I be transported to regions, well after being extracted from top floor of house and put into an ambulance away we went, when arriving I was immediately taken care of , they managed my pain and got me setup for surgery. I realize after reading other reviews of unhappy people who went there, it's a level 1 trama center, if you have small injuries or do not have multiple injuries you should find another hospital. The staff in ICU floor as my wife was sedated they purposely dropped her on her right and now she can't walk or barely sleep. They even over sedated her with over twenty different sedation drugs She when in there walking and came out not walking and quality of care was horrible. If you have a love one ICU watch staff immediately do not trust or leave them alone. They will cover it up. SO EVERYONE IF YOU WANT TO WALK AND STAY ALIVE PLEASE DO NOT COME TO REGIONS HOSPITAL. We just had our first child here at the Regions Birth Center. Absolutely incredible experience. Everyone has been so knowledgeable and kind, and the staff really seem to care immensely for the patients and their fellow staff members. Very compassionate psych care. Kind and sensitive to clients and their families. Getting social services involved was difficult. I had a very nice relationship with the SW after I called the patient advocate. She had honestly made the effort to call and leave a vague statement on my answering machine. I had an ROI and needed more. When she came through, she really shined. As a family member, the experience is extremely helpful IF you get an ROI. Not the staff's fault, just want to point out that if they are able, they can be helpful in navigating the journey. I was grateful knowing that they would keep my son safe. A staff member sat with him IN the room for at least a month. Now things are falling apart, and I trust that the courts and any staff that works with my son, will have his best interests at heart. I am a retired RN, my field was surgery, rehab, MS LTC. I know quality staff when I see it. Before my son made an attempt in Jan, I had gotten my son admitted in Nov. They discharged him after 4 days despite my concerns, and he almost lost his life. They told me that my very psychotic son did not meet the criteria. In Jan we discovered that he had been lying and had not taken his meds in a year. I am confused over their criteria. It seems that things have to reach the level of a threat for admission. Not the fault of the staff, again. Do not be afraid to stand up for your loved one as needed. In this age of HIPPA and patients rights, I feel that there is a gap between the treatment that your loved ones need and the power that they are given to make unwise choices. Be kind to the staff. They supported me so kindly. But be clear with the staff about your expectations. Remember, if you do not have a ROI, you can still be active in their care by sharing the issues at hand. If a nurse is extremely busy, leave your name and number and present your concerns. They did what they could. They saved my son. Now he is facing life long commitment, unemployment, loss of his house and new car. I have set my hope on his life. With the wonderful system in Ramsey Cty, I could hope for more. But first we have to work through the losses and find a soft landing. I hope that you got some tips if you are navigating the system for the first time. Personally, I feel that with staff support for my son,we can get through anything but the loss of our son. So thank you, you kind and caring people who look after and protect our loved ones at some of the lowest points in their lives. read more

I was sent to the neuroscience building for concussion therapy after a series of closed head injuries and a lacunar infarct. I would understand concussion therapy to include a look at the brain. But that did not happen. Instead they had me perform ADLs (?!) and then sent me to OT/PT. The PT was great. The OT person not so much. In my last visit to her, she came out well after my appointment time to get me, and then proceeded to talk down to me (a 70 y/o person). This is unacceptable when speaking to a person with cognitive impairment. Following that, she had me download two apps to my phone and dismissed me. The bill was quite a bit for a person on Medicare; I contested it. The final result was a patient relations person who did not return calls, and once I went higher up the chain, did return the call long after the service. Long story short: Regions will not adjust the bill for the substandard care I received. There appear to be several negative reviews about them, as well. read more

I can't keep track of the billing because they have separate accounts for the hospitals and clinics AND our insurance which is HealthPartners, which OWNs the hospitals and clinics. It's a super disoranized, hard to navigate system with exceptionally poor communication from Regions itself. I just got a collections notice (for the critical sum of $30) without even being aware that I owed money! No calls, no emails, and since I've been paying a set amount each month for a bill on ANOTHER Regions account (why would there be more than one?) I assumed that I would either hear from someone or that additional fees were rolled into the exisiting bill. With such an opaque billing system and a trigger-happy accounting department gleefully sending you to collections over 30 bucks, I'm not sure it matters what quality of care this hospital offers- you're sure to come away with a headache. read more

Went to Regions for my vaccine shot. It was a very smooth visit. Regions has signs everywhere leading you to where you need to go including getting to the proper parking ramp(south ramp for vaccine). If your headed to regions for the vaccine, head up to level P2, basically street level, then head over to the atrium. Don't worry about getting lost there's helpers everywhere guiding you in the right direction to receive your vaccine. read more

This used to be such a good hospital. Now they just want to get you out the door as fast as possible. My husband was brought in by ambulance the morning after surgery in severe pain. It took HOURS for them to even look at him and then they said everything looked okay and told him he had to leave because they were busy. He couldn't even stand up! They stuck him in a wheel chair by the entrance to wait for a ride. No-one stayed there with him, they didn't help him out to the car and did nothing for his pain. The worst experience from the time he was brought in to the time he left. On our way to a better hospital now. read more

If I could rate them both 1 and 5, I would. The Emergency Room gets a 5 and the night nurses on 9th floor get less than 1! Every nurse, PA, Resident, and Doc I saw in the emergency room for the fast-growing abscess on my cheek was outstanding. I was allowed to isolate when I explained I have a serious immune deficiency, and everyone who interacted with me wore a mask. CT scan, x-ray, an hour to find a vein for the IV, and then a resident drained the abscess. Everyone was kind, explained my options, and allowed me to choose when I could. I was transported to 9th floor at 10:00pm. That's when the horror began. I needed a private room because of the lack of an immune system, but I got a double. The night nurse asked if I wanted a man or a woman to do the "skin check" which means looking at every part of my body. That check never happened. At 10:00, I was told they'd found a room and I'd be transported. That never happened. I was left in the room with the nurse's call button too far to reach and no explanation. At 2:00am, as I was finally falling asleep, a nurse woke me up to say they were transporting me. I refused to go because if there were dangerous microbes in the room I already had them. I avoided the bathroom because the ventilator was full of dust and dirt and it stank. She argued with me. At 7:00 I was awakened again. The nurse, named David, stuck his unmasked face close to me to say that if I had brought my own meds I should let him know if I took them because he'd be in trouble. I asked for water. He said I needed more antibiotic, but he couldn't find a pump. He said he'd be back, and he'd be drawing blood, too. I asked for water 5 times, explaining that I needed to be hydrated if they hoped to put anything in a vein because I'm a "hard stick." I waited for him to come back, but after jotting stuff down on the monitor, he disappeared and never returned. At 9:30, I was told I'd be moved to another room. I explained that if they were afraid I'd get sicker because I am immunodeficient, it was too late. The day nurse tried to put more antibiotic in the IV and my vein broke, predictably. The doctor who came in gave me the option of staying and getting more IV antibiotic. I got the feeling that they wanted me to be gone because immunodeficient patients are a drag. I don't blame them for fearing I'd get sicker in that environment. She gave me a double course of antibiotics and I went home. Conclusion? David should be fired. The night crew should be supervised. The bathroom ventilator should be cleaned. read more

They tell me one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch and I totally agree. With the exception of RN Katrina, (her disrespect, shortness and lack of professionalism to various patients along with my daughter), the visit deserves 10 . A big shout out to the hospital staff that took care of our loved one during his final moments. My family and I were very pleased with the cares given, the love, compassion and gentleness that was shown to each of us. A ginormous shoutout to Nurse Amanda, Nurse Kellie, Frank PA-C, Dr. Soulder (?), Case Worker, and countless of others for giving it all that you had to make finals moments peaceful as possible. Since these came in for pain control due to severe radiation burns after my cancer surgery 4.5 years ago. My pain level was a 9 out of 10 when I checked in. Now they are discharging me with a pain level of 10.They told me that my case is too complicated for them too treat. That tells me that they are incompetent. What else am I supposed to infer from a statement One dr. prescribed me Tylenol and said that by taking it that my pain level would drop to a 6 or 7. What a joke. I was on fentanyl, valium, and dilaudid back in April. That was the last time I had good pain control. I had a life with those pain meds. But a Dr. who had seen me once while I was in the hospital last year, decided that I was exaggerating my pain and he didn't want me to get any opiates nor could I have fentanyl or dilaudid. He cut me off of my meds and didn't have the guts to tell tue cdc that I had a client who wished to come. read more

Brought my out-of town brother to ER there w/ respiratory difficulties. Wonderful care! In short order they did a very thorough evaluation, diagnosed bilateral pneumonia, started antibiotics, provided rehydration and ruled out other complications. He was discharged within 5 hrs much improved and continued to improve over the next 2 days. Was able to fly home without difficulty. Cannot adequately emphasize how efficiently and kindly he was managed. read more

Eventually the time comes when a man, real?, has to wear a gown. While in prep you're rested with a choice to watch TV, we get warm cotton booties and a warm heated blanket. For minor day surgery the hospital has their procedures well tuned by now. There is much transparency as I was told here's what's going to happen in this order and you'll be visited by three spirits ah medical professionals first. Interesting the 2nd visitor was a Dr. but not the one doing the procedure, he immediately stated what he thought I was here for and had it wrong! Scary. One note don't be irritated if you are asked repeatedly to identify yourself with name and DOB and what you are there for. This is to make sure everyone is square and your procedure matches the forms in their hands. I have to get a kick on the final form which basically says anything can happen so don't you or your family go blaming us cuz y'know sh** happens. Well not that crude but you get the idea. I was clearly told of the drugs I'll be receiving and the last chance to reveal any allergies. The first med, by IV, sets up the body for what's to come next, after a beautiful warm glow it's nite nite for about an hour. Everything was explained about the short hang over and what's next. Twenty more minutes I'm walking out searching for coffee and a scone which I found on the lower level. read more

Just a continuation of the earlier rant. fourth time I was admitted and stayed and stayed and stayed, with no permanent room. I had 5 ED rooms in 3 days until my emergency surgery. They kept moving me around because I was "stable." Both my family and my doctor had trouble finding me. The deal was I needed to give up a better room in ED for continuing worse rooms so sicker souls could be better taken care of. How can one be stable when one is losing blood and one's hemoglobin tests are continuing to plummet and one is too weak to walk? Why is a 76 year old bleeder not more ill than a 4 year old child with a broken big toe. Welllll, I was told it's because 4 year olds' feet haven't fused yet. My first three days in the ED, the management plan for my sinus bleed was to pinch my nose, spray Afrin and saline at a straight angle up my nose. One doc gave me a nose clip while 3 others told me to junk the clip. It was three days of pinching my nose and spraying as much Afrin as I could to stop the bleeding from a sinus that was much farther north of the nose in my skull. The first night I stayed over at the ED, waiting for a room ("You are stable.") When my sinus bleed started the nurses called the ENT on call. The ENT said and I quote, "If you can't stop the bleed with Afrin, call me back. I don't particularly want to come in unless necessary." Well, we had used up all the Afrin so had to order Afrin from the hospital pharmacy. It took the pharmacy 25 minutes to get the Afrin to us, even though they had the Afrin in the pharmacy. Why? Because the pharmacy had no chute containers for the pharmaceutical chutes. We were unable to get it until a chute container was returned. Huh? Thank goodness, the bleeding slowed to a dribble so we didn't have to call that on call doc again. The two head nurses said they were encouraged to not bother calling doctors on call. Here I was, treated, again like I wasn't as important as the on call doc. Why are they there? Also, should a patient with high blood pressure be pumping as much Afrin up their nose as possible to get bleeding to stop? A medicine that never left my chart was insulin. The problem here is that I don't have diabetes yet every four hours they tested my insulin. At one point I had to stop a CNA from opening the insulin. It took me seriously talking to three medical persons to get one to listen to me who then looked at all the insulin checks I had had in the ED and realized I did not test, nor had I ever, tested positive for diabetes. Yet, the vial of insulin continued the journey. If only it could have stopped the sinus bleed. Not only was I not believed about how much I was bleeding, and how I was not a diabetic, the workers also didn't believe me or themselves concerning my blood type. I understand checking me but once you've done a "type and screen" or a " type and match," you've done it. They typed my blood four times before my surgery. Another example of not reading the charts. I will refer to time in the ED by room numbers. I was first in ED room 1 in the main ED for about 5 hours. The ED nurse in Room 1 noticed some arrhythmia so when I was moved to ER 2, the nurse there placed all the cups for an EKG (cups stayed there until much later - one I still had on when I returned home). While having these placed on my body, in the 45th minute in ED2, a nurse came in and informed me I was being moved again to another place to await a hospital bed. Oh, man. She moved me to ED 3, which resembled a MASH unit, where they barely could take your blood pressure or pulse or temperature. Needless, no EKG was taken there. Regions had, I was told, taken all the equipment off the wall, because the area had been for folks with some mental problems and the hospital hadn't wanted all the equipment being torn off the walls by those patients. Apparently, the equipment for measuring a patient's normal stuff was never reinstalled. CNA's had to bring in hbp cuffs which I strapped on and a thermometer which I put into my own mouth because the CNA could not reach my head. He had to stretch over a counter-type thing to my bed which was encircled by a curtain. I don't mind taking my own temp but this room was too unwieldy to be sick in. There were no real rooms or bathrooms, no windows, and no real food. Curtains which didn't completely encircle the cubicle had the words "Peace" and "May the Word Be With You" that made you think this was your last stop before dying. The cubicle was about 8x8, slightly bigger than a coffin. If you had no strength to walk to the bathroom, you were given a walker. If you weren't strong enough to use the walker, you had best be able to hold it until the one wheelchair was returned. After active bleeding in ED3, I was given a bunch of paper towels ("cheaper than kleenex" and "more absorbent"") and moved to ED4, again awaiting a room, where I spent the rest of my ED time. My fiance and I had the BEST experience we've ever had at a hospital. My fiance was admitted for 11 days due to seizure activity due to benzos withdrawal. We were on S10 on the stroke floor. His care team of nurses and doctors were the absolute best we ever had. To start off, Chris the nurse became pretty close with my fiance while he was there. Chris helped him through panic attacks and helped him by talking him through his up and down emotions, restlessness, anxiety, panic attacks, etc. Chris, thank you so much for helping Tony. His night nurse, Yohanna was the absolute sweetest. But, the big rave goes to Dr. Karl Tjerdsen and the team of addiction medicine drs. Dr.Karl was EXTREMELY thorough, caring, and compassionate. He took his time with Tony and actually extended a helping hand to get tony off of xanax for good. We looked forward to seeing Dr Karl every afternoon. He listened to Tony's concerns, and adjusted his care plan accordingly. He treated you as an equal and not just some addict. I have never had a doctor so caring and so level headed as him. He really makes a connection with his patients. Regions has really stepped their game up with caring nurses and thorough and compassionate doctors. We trusted their plan and knowledge and it played itself out, and everyday got a little better. The food was pretty good, but there are a lot of carbs. The room was pretty big, and the food delivery people were personable. read more

My father came in with a broken shoulder after a fall and it took them hours to clean his cuts and bruises and give him pain medication. He is 85 and their treatment of him was so slow and poor. He was forced to spend the night with a roommate who kept the tv on the entire night and when he asked if they could ask him to turn off the tv they said no. He went home tired, hungry, and in severe pain. He has double insurance so he should have received great care. Completely Shameful. read more

If your loved one needs trauma care and you want them to live, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOSPITAL!!! My 86 yr old mother sustained traumatic injuries in a fall at her home: fractured C1, compression fracture of T12, broken left wrist, broken R hand and a severe laceration on her face, among others... She is not receiving the level of care required because there isn't enough staff and they will not allow us to stay to help. She is frail, medicated and VULNERABLE. She cannot do anything for herself and we have offered to stay to fill the gap, but they do not allow "visitors" outside of visiting hours. She can't wipe her nose, push the call button or change her position in bed. She was left alone with her breakfast this morning and SHE CANNOT FEED HERSELF! She cannot take a drink of water by herself. A nurse comes in once every 75 minutes. She would have choked on mucus today because she couldn't cough it out due to her position in bed and no one would have known because she's not on any telemetry. She can't raise the bed because BOTH OF HER ARMS ARE BROKEN! THIS IS THE KIND OF PLACE WHERE PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE BASIC LEVELS OF CARE ARE NOT MET. They are creating more trauma than they're fixing. Go ANYWHERE else. I'm not here to complain about the care she IS receiving, just where the lack of nurses and enough appropriate care is failing her. Change your policies before someone gets hurt. Not every visitor is just a visitor. My mother deserves advocacy and appropriate care. We will NEVER choose Regions again! read more

Only about the parking: Parking SUCKS. It's a freaking hospital, it's going to be busy but yet, they had 1 person at the pay lot (south parking), with a long line of people trying to get out. The other had a auto pay station that didn't work so it was closed. Never again. I will find street parking and walk if they can't figure out how to run the lots. read more

If i could i wouldnt even give them 1 star for the simple fact that the night nurses are prejudice, they had mistreated me when I was there for hip replacement. Then when my daughter was there because of her diabetes, there was crap all over the floor, her purse was on the table while in the next room wasn't clean. I don't trust regions with my life nor any of my family members. But I do forgive the nurses that I encountered for the mistreatment that I had to endure and their supreiors for their lack of leadership and the fact that they didn't do anything to rectify the situation. But I won't go there EVER again... In my opinion I wouldn't go there. I'd choose united or woodwinds hospitals. read more

This place is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. This is a horrible place that abuses their mental health patients. If you need mental health help DO NOT GO HERE. While I was there in NE6 they denied me my medication. They refused to do their jobs, ignored and hid from other patients who were literally screaming for help. They gossiped all day long and trash talked the patients in front of them. They abuse the 72 hour hold policy and apply it to people that are no danger to themselves or anyone else. They even gave me incorrect medication which made my condition worse. Even though I was no danger to myself or anyone else they put me in the isolation tank with no toilet and left me there unattended so long that I had to urinate on the ground, which they NEVER cleaned up but continued abuse the patients and put them in the urine coated solitary confinement tank just for pointing out that they are harming their patients and suck at their job. Even though as a patient you have the right to see any and all notes and medical info taken about you Dr. Ranade denied me that right so that the staff (especially the charge nurse francis on 2nd shift) could continue the abuse. Here are some disturbing quotes from their staff I wrote down whilst I was in there. May 13th 2020 1st shift Dr. Ranade: "you're going to be discharged tomorrow not today" Me: "may I ask why" Dr. Ranade: "no" May 11th 2020 2nd shift Me: "oh I see, to you we are not patients we are customers" Charge nurse Francis RN: "yes I am glad you see it my way" Also when I was being discharged it became obvious that the staff had stolen my crucifix and necklace, rings and a good amount of cash. read more

Once there at age 33 with complete kidney failure the second I got inside they rushed me through a room stuck tubes through my neck into my heart so that they could clean my blood through dialysis. I spent a month and a half there before my kidneys recovered and I have nothing negative to say about this place other than maybe a nurse or two. I was treated very fairly going to the hospital and staying there for a long time is never an easy thing especially when you know you might not ever leave but my experience there was great the staff doctors and even the other patients made my horrible experience a little less horrific. I've also had horrible experiences here too. I had r star but no more. Came in with debilitating pain and all I get is a shot and patch that didn't work and a pill. 100$ uber for that. Zero stars. Absolutely DO NOT bring anyone you love into this hospital, anyone and everyone I know who has been brought here has never made it back out. I was recently coerced into being admitted into Regions (on a voluntary basis) for the well being of my mental health that nearly turned into a mandatory commitment. The mental health ward is hell scape. I was never out of line, I kept to myself, made sure to take part in their activities and exercised everyday. I guess the nurses and Doctors didn't like that I held them accountable to their jobs by making sure they and I knew what meds they were giving me, what milligrams they were, and who and when I would be speaking to the next Dr. or therapist. All the workers there hate helping their patients and would rather everyone zombie out in front of the TV, so they could get paid to hide behind the desk and back room all day. I asked Dr. James Black when I would be speaking to a social worker and he said he felt threatened by me. He said my mood was being greatly affected by my period, pft. He attempted multiple scare tactics on me for reasons unknown threatening me that I wouldn't want to brought down to the surgery unit. They tried to brainwash and manipulate me into thinking I had said things I had never said, and that I had already seen my doctors, therapists and social workers and that I just didn't remember. There was so much mind fuckery going on in there that I HAD to journal everything I did everyday just to make sure I wasn't actually losing my mind.
