Came here with a group of friends for an Italian pastry making class and WOW what a great experience. There were 16 of us in the class and we made cannolis, pignoil cookies, and anisette cookies. We started off with some introductions and then the instructor gave us a breakdown of the class and what we would be doing. There were three instructors in total so there was always plenty of help when needed during the evening. The classes are three hours long, with the end portion being for eating/sampling. Each table makes their own set of desserts; they accommodated our group of five with no issue. All of the desserts we made were delicious! The cannoli shells were delicious and crunchy to perfection and the cannoli cream was some of the best I've ever had. Even split among 5, there were plenty of goodies to take home! Took the Fast Food Cravings class a few weeks ago and had a great time. Gene and Eric were fantastic, knowledgeable, and personable. We cooked Chick Fil a chicken sandwiches, Shake Shack burgers, Taco Bell Mexican Pizza, and In n Out Style fries. All food was delicious and fairly easy to make. I will say there were multiple moments of not knowing exactly what to do. The directions weren't in order, and there was a lot happening in the kitchen (cooking fries, preparing the pizza, burgers grilling). Some of the directions were unclear as well; for example some of the dry ingredients for the chicken dredge (sugar, flour, salt) were already mixed together, but the paper instructed us to do that. The Mexican pizza seemed to be the consensus least popular of the bunch. I think the class could have only been improved by cutting that from the menu and focusing more on other parts of the menu. Example, we could have cut the potatoes for the fries or spent more time making the various sauces. Overall great class, highly recommend! Hudson Table is always an awesome experience. read more

Rooftop dinner & a movie: The most creative COVID-era activity we've done to date. Since Halloween 2020 was essentially a bust, this was a great date night option. 50% of the two of us had never seen Beetlejuice (not I), so I thought this was a perfect opportunity to see it in a new way. The setup was great - we chose lawn chairs and that's what you'll want too. We sat up front; our screen angle was excellent, and there was no way we were not going to heat the movie with the GIANT SPEAKER not less than 10 feet away. So, don't worry about NOT being able to hear it, worry about being about to hear it TOO well. We also brought our own blanket, which was key. It was cold, damp, and windy the night we went, and since this whole experience is sans-roof and very open to the elements, you'll want to plan accordingly. The food came first: Garlic and Parm Pretzel with Fontina Fondue, Zuppa Toscana, Meatball Parm Sliders, Black Forrest Mousse with Brownie Crumble, plus bottomless popcorn and hot cider. My favorite was definitely the soup. I'm sure the weather had something to do with it, but it was delicious and super flavorful. Pretzel was tasty, sliders were excellent, and although small, the dessert was good too. The whole experience is BYOB, so my only regret is that we didn't B more B than we did. A bottle of wine surely would have complemented the bourbon we brought to spike the cider, especially since the cider came later on in the evening. Oh, want more popcorn? More cider? Turn on the red candle and someone will be right over. Kudos to Hudson Table for getting creative and giving us the opportunity to enjoy a fun, unique date night. read more

After coming to Hudson Table twice, I can safely say that this experience is well worth the money and makes an excellent date night for both those who are skilled in the kitchen and those who can't boil water. The first time my fiance and I went was in December as my surprise Hannukah gift and together with another couple, sliced, seared, and sauted our way through a menu of Hanger Steak with chimichurri, sauted market greens, smashed potatoes and strawberry shortcake biscuits. To this day we still use the market green salad recipe which has made it's way into our weekly dinner rotation. Last night we tried out their inaugural "California Surf and Turf" menu which while it had a few hiccups being that our class was the test run, overall it was fantastic. From learning how to make our own sushi with our California Rolls to mixing up and baking batter for our Chocolate and Hazlenut Torte to even our pepper steak and Sweet Potatoes it was a fun and enjoyable learning experience all around. I already know that the citrus salad will be appearing in our apartment and at our families' BBQs before the summer is over. Though the price might make us wait a little longer to do another class then we ideally would like, we definitely will be making another stop here before the calendar rolls over to 2020. read more

I recently hosted my birthday celebration at Hudson Table on 10/21. I initially booked a private event for 22 people in July and I was contacted by Lauren immediately. She set up everything for me. When hosting a private cooking class, you are given 6 pages worth of different recipes and we chose the Japanese Surf and Turf! We were told to get there at 6:50 (event started at 7) however our chef was super flexible with time (shout out to Natalie!) upon entering I was in awe of the space and we had time to put some decor up. We were taught the first 15 minutes some cutting skills and after that it was all up to us. They prep the measurements and ingredients, and our mise en place! I was nervous we wouldn't be ready by 10pm but somehow we were! We cooked for about 2 hours and ate, drank, sang and laughed the whole time. We dined for about an hour and had cake my friend brought. Everything was delicious, the ambiance and energy was 10/10 and every single person was so happy with their experience. I will be back! read more

I did the prefix brunch, I told them in advance that I had dietary restrictions and that I'm a pescatarian but no accommodations were made. Instead of giving a substitute for the bacon cheeseburger they simply did not bring anything out at all. I paid full price for the brunch and was not compensated for my lack of entrée. Food was good otherwise but not worth the price of a full ticket especially because they didn't give me food and I left hungrier than when I showed up. Absolute bummer. I had booked a class before Covid-19 and it was canceled, then Covid-19 hit and just that I tried to get my money back and was refused and I finally found a class to attend and now I'm being told because it has been a year I lost my money and he would give me 50% off. I did a dessert making class here - we recreated Milk Bar ice cream, Magnolia banana pudding, Levain cookies, and Cinnabon cinnamon buns. Everything we made was delicious. I still think about the banana pudding!! The class was expensive, but it was worth it. The instructors were helpful and made everything easy. I had a great time doing this with a group of friends. Really mixed feelings about this place... the food is just ok. Some dishes are better than others but feels overpriced for flavors and quality that you get. I would mostly go for the atmosphere and service because you get to stay for a while which is not something you can do in a lot of places nowadays. Unfortunately, after today's experience I don't think I will be returning. We arrive for an afternoon brunch on the rooftop only to find that the only table they are allowing us to sit at is under the blazing sun (90 degrees out) while ALL other tables are in the shade. The singer is under the shade. The prep workstation is under the shade. When we try to protest saying that on the website the picture made it seem like all tables are under the shade and generally shading is available and we didn't know it had to be specially requested. One of the girls that was greeting us dismissively said "Well it's outside so" and walked away. The other girl also seemed annoyed at our request but agreed to move the table at a very awkward angle next to another table just so we had some shade. We huddled together in a little shady corner for about half hour. I am assuming a manager saw this and took a pity on us because all of a sudden he wheels out an umbrella and arranges it so that we can have a comfortable brunch... We are grateful to him but the attitude we got from the two women when this was an option all along is unacceptable. They could have brought out the umbrella when we just came in but they didn't want to bother. They only reason I am giving three stars as opposed to one is I was at Hudson Table for a chef competition event and it was an amazing experience with phenomenal food and service. Note: Look at the comment left by the owner/manager... and look at the aggressive way he comments on every review that points out any problems with his establishment. I've always wanted to try HT, and my boyfriend and I figured we'd do a class to celebrate a year of being together. We ended up registering for the California Surf & Turf class with Chef Gene. Admittedly, I was apprehensive at first, since the price point for a couple can be around $180-$200. But I was proven wrong with how much fun we had, how great the instruction was, and of course, the delicious end product. First off, I noticed how spacious, open and well stocked the kitchen is. Everything was clean and all of the stations had some ingredients pre-prepped, while other ingredients were designed for us to prep as mise-en-place. The studio itself is meant to hold up to 16 people, which allows for an intimate cooking experience (and also explains why the classes fill up fast!). The studio is BYOB, so be sure to bring wine or beer beforehand. For California Surf & Turf, we ended up making the following: Homemade California Roll, Pepper Steak, Avocado and Citrus Salad, Sweet Potatoes with Miso Butter, and a Chocolate Hazelnut Torte. Chef Gene was really informative, positive, and enthusiastic about the whole process from ingredients to technique, and his sous chefs were able to give us their own opinions on how to prepare (a great thing if you're still learning to flex your cooking muscles). Overall, all of the food came out FANTASTIC (personally, I'm still having dreams about the Chocolate Hazelnut Torte), and at the end, you get to reap the benefits with the rest of your classmates, and of course, take home leftovers. Some basic failures in service. Long waits for food, 2.8 hrs to receive dinner, one entrée had human hair in it. Servers told us that the stove capacity was reduced by 50% , but very long waits between courses. Very poor dining experience. Literally thinking of another occasion to host another event at Hudson Table! I hosted my boyfriend's surprise 30th birthday at Hudson Table this past weekend for around 26 people. Everything to booking the venue to cleaning up after the event was extremely easy and smooth sailing. Allen was quick to respond to all of my questions, and believe me, I had a lot of questions. Allen and the chef of the night, Matt, had worked with me to personalize the menu and incorporate the dietary restrictions that some of my guest had. I decided to have a catered event where the chefs cooked live and my guest were able to help out with rolling the pasta if they chose to. Everyone could NOT stop raving about how great the food was and there was more than enough food for everyone to have seconds and thirds if they wanted. I definitely had to post a review here because this place was absolutely perfect for my surprise engagement party! You submit your request for a private party through their website, and they are immediate in responding back to you with any questions you have. I was in contact with Allen through e-mail and we settled all the logistics and planning through there, from the sign that is put up to showcase the event, all the way to the type of event you want to coordinate! Keep in mind that this surprise engagement party was their buffet style to accommodate the 47 people I invited to the event, so I can only speak to that. I'll be honest, when I went to look at the venue on Google Maps, I only saw one room which was the room you can see from the street and I was surprised that they would be able to fit all 47 people in there. BUT! For the buffet style party, they actually have another room around the side that accommodates large parties and the space is absolutely gorgeous. Lots of windows and lighting to come into the place and definitely adds a nice ambiance to your private event. You can bring decorations and go to the venue an hour before the event, and the decorations can't ruin/stick to the walls! The food itself....oh my god. It was unbelievable. And the service from the chefs that cook it right in front of you--they are one of the nicest! Even though it takes a little while to prepare each of the courses (you have appetizer, entrees, and dessert), it is TOTALLY worth the wait. You choose your menu beforehand (at least 5-6 weeks in advance) in order to work with the chef and make sure they'll be able to get the ingredients and prepare for the event. What's great is you can add as much detail or as little detail as you want as far as what you want from the menu, and they'll take it and generate their own spin to the menu which will certainly not disappoint! All of my guests loved all of the appetizers, the entrees, and ESPECIALLY the dessert!! The fruit cobbler with ice cream was the biggest hit with my guests, they went up for seconds and thirds even, since it was so good! All in all, I highly recommend this place for your private event, whether it be a birthday party, engagement party, whatever you want to celebrate! I have NOOO idea how I haven't reviewed Hudson table yet!! My husband and I have been obsessed for years with the cooking classes. We've been to a handful and loved each one, especially the pasta making. So thankful they taught us how to make pasta from scratch because now we do it weekly at home. I've recommended Hudson table to other couples, my family, and friends to check out classes and have gotten so many people gift cards. Cannot praise the the studio enough. During quarantine 2020, we loved the best of New England meal kit option for a weekend dinner. Enough for 4 servings with multiple courses and dessert for a super reasonable price!! We also just went to the outdoor 4 course dinner on a Friday and had a blast. So fun to bring wine and enjoy amazing food. You were able to choose 2 courses and then an appetizer and dessert was fixed. The app was a squash blossom with cheese, Calabrian chili oil and floral notes. I went with the cavatelli, burrata, zucchini, pepper jam as my first course and then choose the clam/shrimp stew + crunchy bread for the next. Dessert was a pound cake with strawberries and cream cheese frosting. WOW! All of the dishes were unbelievable and one of the best meals my husband and I have had in ~7 months. Last night we had another delicious prefix meal at Hudson Table. There really aren't words to describe the flavors of their Latin Summer menu. Every course was pure perfection. It started with the shrimp ceviche. The moment my husband tasted it he asked if I can make it at home. Ummm, probably not. The arepa with corn and mushrooms was the best arepa I've ever had. The scallops were cooked perfectly and that sauce on the fideos should be jarred and shared with the world. The chicken was tasty and moist. But the star was the whole fried fish. Due to Covid I had to cancel my trip to Puerto Rico and I have to say that fish transported me back to my island. The flavors were so on point. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ... I brought my boyfriend here for s surprise date night and to our surprise, there was hair in almost every component we were given to cook with. To start, there was an eye lash in our bean sauce. The mascarpone had a full length of hair binded into the cream that we noticed at first glance, so it was clear that whomever put this out simply ignored it. We decided to continue and not make a big deal but we did point it out and the chef switched it for a new one. The icing on the cake was when we moved to make the chicken ... We fully seasoned and covered in flower, seared the chicken, and as soon as we flipped it, another long full grown piece of hair was in glistening on our cooked chicken. So the hair was clearly embedded into the flour that was provided. Personally, I enjoy cooking and thought this would be. great experience to involve my boyfriend into my world and this was just a poor experience and very unsanitary. There is no reason that we had hair in 3 different components of our food and zero compensation or apologies were issued. We came here for the 5 course Italian Summer Sunday dinner (actually 6 courses since we also got an add-on!) with live music and no doubt we will be coming back. The food was incredible, staff friendly, and they perfectly timed bringing our courses to us at different times so we could enjoy everything fresh and not feel rushed. I actually saw the staff looking at tables through the window from the kitchen to see if tables were finishing up a course to start prepping the next course which was awesome to see. My boyfriend and I were starting to lose interest in Hoboken dining as we feel like a lot of restaurants have such similar menus now and we feel like we are never totally impressed with our meals, and this dinner totally restored our faith in Hoboken dining. We were so impressed with every dish we ate and their menu is so unique and unlike anything you'll find at another restaurant. I love how you can see through the windows into the kitchen and watch the chefs and staff at work. We were so impressed when watching one of the chefs make the fresh pappardelle pasta right by the window, which we then ate minutes later! Lastly (certainly not least), live music by Michael Murphy made the dinner all that more special. We were huge fans of him and his music. We had an awesome time last night at Hudson Table! The chefs were awesome and very helpful. They do a great job of helping out when needed but also letting you do your thing. At the beginning of the class, they ask everyone to rate their proficiency level so they know who to check in with more frequently. The head chef gave a demonstration at the beginning of how to cut/prepare everything we'd be cooking, and then we all got started on our food prep. I think it was a great balance of letting us do our thing while being available to help whenever we needed. They were also really great about taking pictures if we asked. The stations are set up to have 4 people per station, but if you go with a group of more than 4, the stations are so close that you can still converse with the people next to you. I loved the size of the class - max 16 people. Not too many and not too small. There was also plenty of room for everyone to do their cooking without getting in each others' way. The chefs also do a great job of keeping everyone busy, I.e. while one or two people are making the salsa, others are grilling. There was water readily available and chips and dip for us to munch on while we cooked, which was appreciated. The food was so delicious, and the portions were perfect as well. The best part was that we didn't have to clean up anything after! Overall we had a great time! We'll definitely be back! read more

Did a cooking class here and it was really fun! It feels very casual and less intense than other classes I've done. They do a few demos and then send you on your way to cook! They come around and help if you need it or give minor suggestions, but otherwise you do a lot on your own. At a station with 4 people, you split the recipes up so you don't actually end up cooking every single thing (at least in the class I took). It is BYO which is also great. read more

All I have to say is that I have paid for 2 separate classes online (one in July and one in April) and both times the owner told me there was a mess up on their website and i had to be refunded and bumped to another class and clearly this is not the first time this has happened to someone as I have read the other reviews. He claims hes meticulous but why were there 8 spots open that I was able to buy and now your claiming that I cant take the class and bumped me out of it. Absurd. How can this happen to me the only two times I tried to come here. And now all the april classes are booked and I cannot attend. And I am supposed to wait even though this was given as a gift. Bad business and a rude manager that is not accommodating, does what he wants regardless of the customer and only cares about making money. In addition the owner accused me of calling him a liar (I never used that word in our email exchange) and accused me of being nasty (I never used any derogatory language or profanity nor did I use any bad character traits to describe him) I simply said I was not happy with the service and the solution he was providing me. Now on top of this mess the owner got my other family member involved (my mother) bad talking me to her about this yelp review. This was a childish tattle tale act and I cannot believe you would stoop to this level. I would also like to add that if the owner was so concerned about this yelp review that he had to mention it to my mother via phone while trying to coordinate another solution (a different solution than the one he provided me with via email) maybe you should have been more accommodating to me before I got my mom involved and before I wrote this yelp review. read more

What a great time!! The space is perfectly rustic yet modern and clean. The instructors and assistants were so helpful and very sweet. We did a pasta night, 4 pastas, 4 different sauces and each better then the next. We had our 22 person micro-wedding at Hudson Table in October and we can't recommend it enough!!!! We were looking for an unconventional, food focused space and this was 100% it. Allen the owner was easy to work with and really responsive through email. Also, they were very accommodating when we had to look at the space several time. The food was INSANE!!!!! We had chef Kelly Zavala and she was a rockstar, our guests can't stop talking about the food. Not only was the food delicious the quality was high, they aren't cutting corners. I had to sit and marinate on this review, much like a good piece of meat. As someone who obviously loves food, loves cooking, loves learning, and is quite the socialite, this place should have been a 10 out of 5 for me. Unfortunately, it wasn't. I really have experienced better teaching environments/ cooking classes than this. Our class was the Monday Night Football Tailgate Finger Foods class. Seemed like a fun idea for the foodie in me and the football lover in my partner. There were 6 people total, which seemed like a small group, but I was determined to make it work. There were some good points and some not so good points, of which I will divulge to you as follows: Good: - Beautiful space - Offers a unique social engagement idea - Got an idea for 1 new recipe - The chef and assistant were very energetic and welcomed us warmly - The spiced nuts they made for us were delicious and the wings were really good. Bad: - The chef was a bit into himself - Chef did A LOT of the prep work for us, not allowing for us to do it ourselves - Chef/ Assistant didnt always pay attention to the food that was cooking, allowed the sweet potato fries to burn, the spin artichoke dip to overcook, didnt coach burger cookers and allowed that food to get burnt - Way too many items to conquer and we wasted a lot of food. I cant even remember everything we made. - One of the items they made ahead of time so we didnt even get to learn how to make them (spiced nuts) which was the best thing we ate - This was a tailgate/football viewing. I thought there was going to be a TV. I am a Giants fan. I would have loved to see the game on a TV on a regular channel, not a projector, streamed on a window shade. Good effort though. - Most of the dishes weren't that great. Cheese puffs, burgers, sweet potato fries, spin dip, were all avg. I cant say I'd ever make them again. - Our clothes reeked like a fast food restaurant. We had a hard time getting the smell of hamburger out of our clothes, and even my purse. Ventilation isn't great in there. - It was also awkward how they spilt things up. We only had 2 sets of each item to make, even though there were 3 couples. Luckily our little group was great about taking turns and sharing. I do have to share one thing that is worth mentioning. We had originally been scheduled for a Tuscan Italian class, and my family experienced a unexpected death in our immediate family. I messaged the management immediately - about 5 days prior to the class, asking if we could reschedule, despite the no cancellation policy. The management was accommodating to us and gave us a credit that we had to use within a month. I appreciated this and wanted to share that they were kind to us during a challenging time. I hope to be back and have a much better experience. Please dont let this deter you from giving it a try! I imagine that the class/chef has a lot to do with the outcome. Choose wisely! read more

Really an incredible experience - we went last Thursday night and had chef sam and her team teach us a night in rome and it was amazing!!! We made cacio pepe rice balls broccoli and an apple cake. Everyone was so nice and we made friends with another couple. Priced so fairly and the meal was so great - especially that we made it ourselves! The byob is a very nice touch and adds to the experience. Everyone brought bottles and they let us know if you need more " wine dad's across the street will deliver within 5 mins" can't beat this place so happy its walking distance from our house. 5 star experience all around from start to finish!
