I visited ReWax and UnWine in Jersey City, NJ [2 Division St] on Sunday, 03/15/26, around 3 PM. The entire experience was extremely fun and lovely. The hosts for the candle-making class were Atahya and Jennifer. They both did a fantastic job of facilitating detailed instructions on how to craft candles to our liking. They also welcomed bringing wine bottles to sip while making candles. First, the group and I were able to get up and smell different candle scents. My top four favorites were the Espresso, Strawberry, Cupcake, and Fig. I proceeded to grab one of the medium-sized golden brown jars from the wall and then sat back down. Atahya directed us to stir the scents in two separate little beakers. Then, we poured the mixtures into a big candle jar and a little candle jar, along with the hot candle wax liquid. Finally, we stirred everything for about 2-3 minutes to let it set. Jennifer was able to come over and finish the candle product for us by cleaning it, solidifying it, etc. In the interim, while the candles were being set, Atahya led engaging, interactive activities. We did a candle-themed trivia and sang songs, karaoke style. Both opportunities made the time go by so much faster. We all had a great time! Overall, the experience was totally epic. I highly recommend coming to ReWax and UnWine to craft good-smelling candles while having a blast! read more

I fell in love with this space. Went there for a Yelp Elite event, which was probably my favorite one so far. Was SO fun making my own custom candle. And while the space is small, it certainly is pretty! Great for group birthdays or to celebrate a special occasion. There was super fun karaoke while we waited for our candles to set, which really brought the group together. I believe this is also a black woman owned business so let's go out and support the JC community. I really was so wowed (in a sense) with this experience and have been telling everyone about it. Great vibe here. Love that it's in Jersey City, which is a fun area with lots of places to grab dinner or drinks after, if you want. OH and it's walking distance from the Grove St Path station, so don't think you have to struggle for parking... and there are so many cool eateries to stop in before or after. read more

I enjoyed being able to make karaoke while waiting for the candles to dry, and smelling how great my candle was when it was all fused together. I would 100% recommend booking with ReWax and UnWine. My candle had my home smelling super good and I didn't even light it yet. The only thing is it went away so fast when I did; probably because of it being made with coconut oil. My friends and I had such a fun time at ReWax and UnWine! It's easy to book a reservation and pay online, and once you arrive, the staff has everything you need to get started. They are BYOB and supply cups and bottle openers! The experience was organized from start to finish. You have the choice of making one medium candle and one small candle, or upgrade to one large candle. Add ons are also available if you want additional candles, or if you want to add glitter or other toppers for your candle. They have plenty of scents to choose from, and you can write your top four favorite scents before heading back to your table to mix them as you please. I absolutely loved my experience at Rewax and Unwine! I went for my friend's birthday and it was just a great experience from beginning to end. The only downside is the parking. I had to circle the block a few times before I got a spot. Luckily, we found a spot right on time Once inside, I checked in at the desk and gave my name for my reservation. The staff gave us label stickers for our candles and directed us to a table. The table was set up with warmers for the wax and a tray with the rest of our supplies. Rewax and Unwine is byob so we brought a bottle of wine to share. Once everyone got settled in, the staff introduced themselves and got us started. First, we were directed to a wall where all the candle jars and scents are held. We were allowed to make two candles...a medium candle and a travel-sized tin. You have the ability to upgrade your candles to bigger sizes for an additional fee. I decided to upgrade my travel tin to another medium candle. After picking our jars, we were able to smell the different fragrances they had to offer. We were allowed to choose up to four fragrances. Afterwards, we were given our scent oils and advised on how much oil we would need per candle based on the size. This is where the magic happens! You can mix your oils together to your liking to achieve the scent you want. Then we pour the oils into the candle jars followed by the wax and mix it together. While the candle cools, we get the chance to either do karaoke, play trivia, or just socialize. We chose to just socialize and they opened the back door so we could enjoy our drinks outside if we chose. At the end, you get to add other embellishments to the candles such as gold flakes or crystals for an additional fee. They check you out, give you your candles and you're free to go. This was a really cool experience. I've seen this place on IG for a couple weeks now and got surprised with a date night here. It was empty for a Thursday night it was just us and a group of 4 women. It looked like a session had finished when we came in. Everything was well organized and it's BYOB. They offer plastic cups and juice and candy to buy. The instructor was so sweet, very helpful and kept a smile on the whole time. I'm big on candles and they did have a big variety but I wanted more scents. A lot of the scents to me were very light. I like more masculine bam in yo face scents lol. Also FYI you have to wait a week to use the candle apparently because the scent will be stronger. Also you sit in the back which is the picture I included it's the outdoor deck and you can do karaoke and other things while you wait for your candle. I didn't see any of those options maybe the instructor is suppose to set it up for you? It was literally just me and my date so we just sat there and kept drinking lol. Candles & Hookah! Relax and Unwine was the spot for a double date night on a Saturday in July. Tickets were purchased about a month in advance via their website. We chose the Hookah, Hip Hop & Candle Making class. The session started at 8:30pm and was about 2hrs long. First you make your candle.... Inclusive of picking your scents, measuring & then mixing your candle. Our teacher was very helpful and knowledgeable also giving tips on which scents would blend well. Once your candle is poured that's when the vibe shifts to the patio area for the hookah & hip hop. I should also mention the entire event is BYOB. While making the candle you are allowed to drink at your table. Being that our tickets were purchased in advance the owner gave us coupons for a discounted hookah making it $20. We moved to the patio area where there's cute seating, a DJ and a hookah setup. After sitting for about 15 mins and not being approached by the hookah guy our teacher walked by and said "I thought y'all were having hookah". To which we replied we were waiting for him to come over. She explained that we had to walk over to him to place the order. The entire timeeeee that we sat waiting to be served/approached the owner and her crew already had their hookah and were blowing it downnn. Instructions on how the hookah orders were to be placed prior to the wait would've been appreciated. Disposable cups and bottles openers were provided. The DJ played a great mix of old school hip hop, r&b and reggae. The bummer was at 9:30 when he announced he had another event to attend and was leaving. After he left music was still playing I assume from a streaming device. All in all we had a good time. My candle smells AMAZING and burns well with a great throw. read more

Gathered the girls for a night of candle making fun! I previously took a virtual class with ReWax and UnWine during the summer and was hooked ever since. I wanted to have a girls night so since they love candles too, this was the perfect event. We purchased our tickets online for their ladies night theme; and yes they have different themes while making candles. Now if you're familiar with the area, parking can be annoying but they do have two parking lots on both ends of the street. If it's not crowded, you can find a spot there or park along the street. Finding this spot was a little bit difficult but make sure you're reading the door numbers and look for the ReWax and UnWine sign outside of the door. I made the mistake of not reading the door numbers and was walking up and down the street LOL. It sort of looks like you're walking up to an apartment but once you walk in, it's so much more than that. We were greeted immediately by the friendly staff. Everyone had masks on, including us. We chatted a bit until the next group of 3 arrived. There were only 6 of us at the event which was fine cause it gave us plenty of space. It's BYOB and they also had complementary wine! Since I make candles at home, I was excited to share my tips with my friends and ask questions along the way. We got to make 2 candles and blend our favorite fragrance oils. We took turns sniffing fragrances and wrote down out top 4. My favorite was the paulo santo and cactus jade! While our candles were curing, we did trivia and karaoke. Such a fun time! I came to ladies' night with some girlfriends and we had a great time. I love how the activity yields something I'll actually like and use. The space is very cute (instagramable) and the process of discovering our favorite scents to create a custom candle was really nice. The hosts were friendly and thoroughly guided us through the process as well as provided us with proper candle care instructions. It isn't a big space so it that explains why the tickets for ladies' night out sell out so quickly. I love the concept all around and I wish there were more fun things like this to do. Hmm. Pulling up to the venue was definitely shocking in a bad way knowing I paid $60 for a candle making experience. I honestly expected something more lavish and spa like inside instead of of feeling like I was in a half renovated basement of some sort. It was stuffy inside. It is semi decorated but i dont know it would be nice to feel like you are getting your money's worth as soon as you walk in. Both host were exceptionally nice and helpful. As soon as we got settled we were given instructions on what to do and offered cups, ice, and to chill our wines. Everybody was very attentive and even helped us finalize our candle fragrances with other popular oil pairings. Loved the variety of fragrances/oils to mix in the candles. Definitely would be cool to have a suggestion box for other oils or even change out oils for different holiday seasons. It was a nice surprise to be able to add a splash of color to the candles and decorative rocks. There were even stickers lol. After candle making we had a quick round of wax trivia while the candles set and took some pictures. Overall, it was a fun experience but in my opinion not worth $60 for a 10oz and 4oz candle. Maybe for 10 and 8 oz or heck why not two 10oz candles. -------------- Finally, able to burn my candles today and they smell wonderful but unfortunately the bigger candle isn't melting properly as it should be even after letting it melt for an hour or so now. Again, way too much for my amazingly crafted candle not to melt. :( Heard an outdoor area is coming so maybe that will be very lavish! Amazing and memorable experience! After attending a recent Yelp Elite virtual event hosted by 'Rewax and Unwine' (that review is up as well!), I decided to attend in person. During that event, we were given a special discount code for an in-person class. I decided to attend the monthly ladies night event. Firstly, I live in New York City. 'ReWax and Unwine' was about a 1 hour drive from my apartment in the Bronx. Not bad, in my opinion. It is easily accessibly from the Holland Tunnel or George Washington Bridge, and very close to other attractions such as the Newport Centre mall, and some great lookout points to view the city skyline. Parking was super easy on the street as well. The ladies night event occurs once every second Saturday of the month. Tickets include the candle making experience of 2 candles, plus wine (or BYOB), and karaoke. Upon arriving, I was greeted by three wonderful hosts. The space is small but decorated beautifully. Lots of unique signs with floral decorations (including a floral wall) throughout the space, and great photo ops (think instagram and boomerangs). I attended alone and was able to sit anywhere but later befriended some other attendees and sat with them. It was a small group of us altogether, but so much fun. Upon starting the class, Faith - one of our hosts, gave us a quick rundown of the experience. Each station features everything you need for the candle experience including 2 warmers filled with coconut soy wax, markers, wick centering devices, and stirrers. Tools and surfaces were sanitized throughout the experience and social distancing was practiced as best as possible. We were given an opportunity to choose our candle vessel, scents, and even colors. Theres a great variety of scents to chose from however, you will only chose 4 to mix and match for your perfect scent. I chose a nice floral variety. After mixing the scents, it was time to make my candles. The whole process probably took about 30minutes. After the candles were made, staff took them away to further prepare them. In the meantime, we chatted, sipped wine, did some trivia, and sang along to some great music. Imagine singing "Wannabe" by the Spice girls over wine, candles, with cool women. It was great. A few of ladies also got up to dance, and we all took pics around the floral wall. By the end of the event, I had made new friends and had two beautiful, sweet smelling candles. Overall, I loved this experience. The staff were kind, attentive, patient, and engaging. Faith provided a lot of great information which will be helpful in not only caring for my candles, but also purchasing them in the future. I felt welcomed every moment. Moreover, they offer tools/items that will help care for your candles like wick trimmers and candle warmers, which I found to be very convenient. If I had to choose between virtual or in-person, I would definitely go for in-person. The interactions are just a lot more personable, and the options to personalize your candle are greater. All-in-all, I would highly recommend to others. Its a great experience for date night, catching up with friends, or if your like me, a solo adventure out. I'll definitely be returning! read more

Went for a private event with friends and it was a bit disappointing. We were supposed to get beverage tower and champagne wall but none of that was put out. we made our candles and then nothing was offered to us even though we paid for all of it. Jennifer was low energy and it really felt low effort. close to zero effort on getting us to do karaoke and "candle trivia" which was stated as part of it but we didn't do that Two candles broke because the bags gave out and the candles shattered. I just attended a ReWax & UnWine event at this new location. I've been to the old Manhattan location as well but I'm excited to have something closer to home in NJ! For starters, I think the location is great. It's not far from the heart of Jersey City but the area isn't congested at all. Finding street parking was a breeze which I was initially worried about. The space itself is super cute. I visited with my husband and it has a really intimate vibe and ambiance that was perfect for date night. It's something different to do over the weekend when we want to do something laidback. Everyone is chill here so it's pretty natural to strike up conversations with strangers because you're just enjoying the music, some drinks and a good vibe. I'll definitely be back, maybe next time with friends since I can see how this would be an awesome girls night out. It's worth a visit! read more
